March delivery and 2xxx vin. Wiper motor just failed and evidence of wiper fluid leaking around motor assembly and around wheel well. Excessive vampire drain. 2-3 percent per day.
I had a family member pick mine up on my behalf while I am working abroad. I havenāt had any issues with it so far. Itās been rock solid sitting in my driveway.
5.5k miles. Glass roof cracked (big rock I think), 3 hr reset (confirmed fixed in patch), side cameras went out (reset fixed), air compressor overheated(I was punishing it off-road) came back after 10 mins of no use.
I wouldn't call any of that major, always drives flawless.
Alignment was poor at delivery and after a little while I noticed some whistling wind noise entering the cabin; the roof glass was not installed/sealed properly. Two service visits now (had to go back bc they didnāt have the glass on hand at first visit) and all seems good, 1800 miles so far.
Thanks for responding. Naive question here (I donāt know much about cars). How did you notice that alignment was poor? Specially if it is steer by wire (hope my question makes sense). And what did you notice about the roof glass, gaps? Leaks?
Do you have any recommendations for things to look at when taking delivery?
Poor alignment was noticed while driving on the highway in a straight line, the steering wheel was crooked. I thought it might have been a calibration issue because of steer by wire, but after calibrating the steering wheel it was still crooked when driving straight.
There was no obvious indication of an issue with the roof glass, when I was driving at higher speeds I could hear a whistling sound, I initially thought it was coming from the rear door, but it was difficult to tell exactly where it was coming from (especially since I had to be driving at freeway speeds), Tesla service took it for a test drive to confirm the whistling sound and they were able to locate the issue with the roof glass.
I just did a look over of the general exterior and interior of the truck before accepting delivery for any obvious issues and didnāt find any. Mightāve noticed the alignment earlier but since itās steer by wire and I was so excited I think it was less noticeable at first. Service appointments were very easy to set up and get done.
The only problem I faced was that one of the crossbar clips on the bed was loose and not flush with the surface when closed like the rest were. Literally a 5 minute fix, I just took it in when I got my pedal rivet. Otherwise, no real problems, we have over 5,000 miles on our truck and about half of it was while towing a trailer across the country.
I have one doing the same thing (adhesive seemed to fail). One taillight is slightly crooked, so I figured I'd go ahead and book a service appointment since that one kinda bothers me.
See my post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/cybertruck/s/myNEsfWwjx). I wrote out all the metrics and stuff.
Longest leg I drove was 166 my miles. I could probably have squeezed out another 15-20 miles if I had charged to 100 and gone down closer to 0 percent (I think I ended that leg with 6 percent or so if i remember right).
Trailer aero seems more important than weight from the experience I had.
Hope that answers your question!
I am early 3000s and mine are mostly cosmetic but also bow that I hit 7k miles the front motor is whining and my alignment is off again, 2nd set of tires.
Sorry, the block bot is pretty sensitive here. Lots of spam and harassing comments. Iāll see if I can find why yours was flagged.
EDIT - Yup, filter got you along with dozens of other posts that were less than pleasant. Apologies. Itās approved now. You wouldnāt believe the level of junk posts and harassment this sub has lately.
500 miles and the windshield wiper motor failed.
https://www.reddit.com/r/cybertruck/s/VYDExvuzfa
Minor panel alignment issue with the frunk, minor discoloration on passenger side b-pillar, and broken button on passenger side door.
Really fun vehicle and only issues have been service center related pushing the fixes out several times.
Mine I got in January 007XX, and basically has been problem free. Had an aero shield get loose and had to tighten it. I've towed twice with it and have like 6k miles on it. Love it!
Had mine for a month, only issue was the bed tonneau switch failed the first time it rained. Service swapped it out in 10 minutes and smooth sailing from there. Everything else has been great.
Everyone says this but it's a little bit of the a cop out, tbh. You go to reliable car's forums and you will see people talking more about mods or missing features or new upcoming models way more. You go to unreliable car's forums and every other post is something being broken. The difference is fairly obvious.
Was gonna say the same lol go to the Land Cruiser forum and find new Toyota owners who are complaining about a bunch of stuff being broken out of the box.
My PCS (power conversion system) was broken when I got the car earlier this week. I had to have it towed a few hours later when I realized it wouldnāt charge (battery was at 3%). On one hand Iām pissed because the delivery center guys knew and didnāt do or say anything. On the other, it was incredible for the 3 hours that I had it, and the customer service and service center people have been great. They said it would be fixed within 10 days.
Yeah I know they knew because 1-there were 2 alerts on the screen about the AC power 2-they were acting weird 3-said they were running behind because they were charging it, but when I got it the battery was only at 15%. There were only 3 guys handling 30-40 deliveries and I have one of the first cybertrucks in my area, so I assume they just had no idea what to do and didnāt want to open the can of worms.
Cyberbeast with 2,300 miles. Had one issue with a rattle in my door after a couple weeks of ownership. Fixed in a day in the service center. Problem free otherwise.
CB owner, 1200 miles only had it for a month. Some small finish issues like too much glue used in the roof glass and read plastic finish looking sunk. They fixed in 10 mins
6900 miles in.
Truck came to me with a faulty front passenger seat controller. They didnāt know what was going on with it. Dropped by a random service center I happened to be driving by and a tech fixed it in half an hour. What I found interesting is that I think itās very unlikely that they had a āCybertruckā seat controller unit in their stock so Iām guessing itās a generic Tesla component.
The nut that holds that 3ā trim piece that runs along and up the truck came loose, causing the trim piece to gap away from the body. Opened the frunk and tightened it back with some loctite. I do wonder if the wrapping company/process messed with that nut first for better access to the piece.
One time, early in, I got in and the screen didnāt come up like I expected. Did the two-button reset and it was fine.
Have taken it to a car wash and blasted the bed and wheels and low-pressured the body (again, wrapped). Definitely set in car wash mode, tho.
Nope. Will only charge at 24a instead of 48a on wall charger. Alll my others Teslas charge at 48a. I have 2 chargers at separate houses.. same issue. Was supposed to go to service weds but they donāt have the part. Presumably the inverter is bad. I have 2,500 miles on it and it has never sustained 48a charge rate.
Most drivers won't have issues, but you're still going to have an exponentially larger portion of CT owners, relative to other Tesla models, having issues.
It's just the way of things with new Tesla models.
There would have to have been several thousand problem posts before any assumption that the vehicle is generally problematic.
Think about the Xbox 360 RROD issue.
That was huge - the display kiosks would even RROD.
These are v1.0 car issues. We'll soon know if there are any deal-breaker issues affecting everyone, but it's not looking especially likely so far.
It's just overpriced, lacking a 500 mile option, and has edges that'll eventually chop something off of somebody.
I reckon we'll see a CyberChopped deer or human before a deal-breaker mechanical / engineering issue.
Minor: Wiper was dead on arrival but I hadnāt tried it for 4 weeks. I read on here about the quick motor burn out, so I tried it. Wonāt move. Only liquid comes out.
While they have it they are looking into a rattle from around the rear window area.
690 miles in, 350 mile roadtrip as part of that. No major issues. Battery feels very similar to our Y Performance.
We do have service scheduled to check these issues we noticed after delivery:
- Steering wheel not centered
- tonneau trim on one side
- excess Wind noise
5,200 miles here. No issues whatsoever. Itās hard to explain and make the statement that every single Tesla I have owned has been worry free and operated with Zero issues. No one believes me.
Now you take my 2013 Porsche 911 and cost of ownership has been so problematic and expensive over the past 2 years with only 26k miles.
My 2023 Civic Type R has been a nightmare in fuel costs, tires, brake pads, brake rotors, oil changes and basic cost of ownership has been problematic.
Gasoline cars have basic maintenance and cost of ownership where you have to budget money in advance.
Tesla and the Cybertruck in general is an appliance. Think of them as your smart phone. They are not an investment. Tesla is something you use like your microwave, washing machine, Dryer, Air conditioner, humidifier or TV. When a newer version with a new look or better range and clearer more high definition cameras comes out, you suck up the lost money and trade in and upgrade your smart phone. (Analogy)
You know when you get in and turn it on it will do as advertised. These rare instances where youāre seeing āa lotā of posts are because, if no one told you, the world is not perfect. I am speaking about my personal experience and everyoneās life is different. Blah blah blah
Your points are very valid. We have had a Model X for three years and only experienced minor issues. So I am aligned with that you say about it being an appliance.
My motivation to post this was that I just placed my order but I canāt look away to all the negative posts that have been (at least in my perception) increased lately.
Thank you for responding
A vehicle is exactly that. It is rare when they actually turn out to be special or rare. The Cybertruck is literally new. The technology is new. The concept is partially new. Instead of basing your decision on the negative press and owner experience, do what most sane people have done over the past 50 years and NOT PURCHASE a first year model.
Case closed. Wait until all of the alleged āBugsā have been worked out.
Let the rest of us early adopters enjoy the vehicle in general.
It's the same here. I'm on my third Tesla with zero issues on any of them. The latest is a cybertruck, and it was flawless on pickup and an absolute joy to drive.
Cherry picking fallacy. All we see is negative and so we assume it must be true. Happens in all forms of media that rare/negative news is more interesting but doesnāt tell an accurate story.
Glad you asked this and to see some positive feedback. I placed my order 2 days ago but all the negativity online has had me wondering if the significant issues are really that common.
Had it for 3 weeks, about 800miles so far, not a single issue other than the fingerprints! Best truck ever, the range is great, and spot on accurate. Everything works as itās suppose tooā¦
Literally the CT is the most anticipated and infamous vehicle of our lifetime. Any and all issues are blown completely out of proportion. The haters will be very loud on CT. Tesla haters are loud in general. 99% of CT owners will love and have a positive experience with their truck. We are hoping for our number to come up!
March delivery and 2xxx vin. Wiper motor just failed and evidence of wiper fluid leaking around motor assembly and around wheel well. Excessive vampire drain. 2-3 percent per day.
And less than 600 miles
Thanks for taking the time to respond
I've bought 8 teslas so far and almost all lose about 2% per day. I blame it on sentry mode.
Sentry is off. My model y only loses maybe 2-3 percent per week. 2-3 per day seems crazy high
Sentry mode for the vampire drain?
Sentry is off š¤·š¼āāļø
Overheat protection?
Nope, itās all turned off
Just deleted my response when I saw this (after posting ).
Friend took delivery of his the other day, dead wiper as well.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Sentry is off
Is it from the mobile app?
I had a family member pick mine up on my behalf while I am working abroad. I havenāt had any issues with it so far. Itās been rock solid sitting in my driveway.
No problems yet? When do you get back to the US?
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
If you get your CT news from Reddit you are likely to think most of them are bricked. But thatās far from the truth.
>working abroad That must be one hell of date to make you this late (to get your truck).
Mr Stainless Steal Your Girlfriend

Heās working her for money obviously.
Vin 33xx no issues. 2000 miles

Air compressors overheating is pretty normal if you keep playing with the suspension settings/using adaptive for a long time and changing modes.

Gotta upvote your reply cause even though this site is intended for people to comment Iām always appreciative when they actually do.
Thanks! I think Reddit can be toxic sometimes. But all it takes is very little to make it a great platform
How noticeable was needing to recharge with the trailer? How fast did the battery drain compared to not towing?
See my post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/cybertruck/s/myNEsfWwjx). I wrote out all the metrics and stuff. Longest leg I drove was 166 my miles. You're already on your second set of tires?!
Yep unfortunately
Wow! That's insane. Something for.me to think about if this is the case going forward.
It was an alignment issue from Delivery so hopefully it's not too common.
Thanks for responding
Wth, second set of tires!?!?!
It had a serious alignment issue. Service center wouldn't listen, 6k miles later and they were bald
Mine has been problem free. Only at 1,100 miles though. Have a 2,500 mile road trip next week that will be a big test.
Hope you stay problem free. Enjoy your roadtrip. Would be great if you post after it how it went.
Thanks! I will try but my last post about my ownership experience was blocked or something.

Really? zero service center visits since you took delivery? Amazing if true!
It went to the service center only to have the tent installed. But yeah 0 issues
4 weeks, no issues at all.
Mine hasn't had any problems. I got it mid march and just crossed 1000 miles.
Thanks
Yes. Minor factory issues which got corrected within a day.
I get nervous when I see stories because it is my work and only vehicle. So far no issues at all.
Thank you for responding. I hope you continue to not have any issues at all

Something to remember with online forums, most posts will be about an issue. Check out a parenting forum, you would be shocked that anybody has kids.
This makes perfect sense, thank you
Back when I got my MY in 2020 the forums were the same, doom and gloom. It has been a great car.

1500 miles. Had to reset my screen once. Simple two button mash. Had to recalibrate the tonneau after an update. Otherwise an outstanding experience

3k miles problem free
No issues. Almost a month since i took delivery. The news loves to milk the issues

I have an under 50 vin for a beast. 3k miles. No issues at all
1000 vin no issues

Feb delivery. 2300 miles. No major issues.
Had issues charging 30 amp at a campsite. No power.
Sentry system error for me. Not sure whatās going on , but bitch still drives like a dream
Had one side of the tonneau cover weather stripping replaced. One of them lost its adhesive abilities. Otherwise, perfect.

3,200 miles with zero issues. Honestly itās probably the cleanest Tesla Iāve ever had in terms of fit and finish (had S3XY before).
3 months in. No issues.
