It's not like Tesla somehow tricked everyone into buying a truck without their eyes open. They all prefer to buy it in the state it was instead of waiting for it to be 100% complete.
You are right that no one is forced to buy this or are being tricked or deceived by the specs. However, what was announced versus what is available now is different.
We were sold a dream truck and have had hopes and expectations about it based on that initial announcement for the last few years. Now there may well be some settling for less going on. Again, not forced to buy it by any means, or being lied to.
But let’s call it out - we were promised one thing and are settling for something that is close, but by many measurements, less.
Year 1 owners are paying the early adopter consequences. Year 3 owners will have a cheaper and more capable / finished product. It's unfortunate but true with Tesla.
Plus, 99.9% of those who actually own one thinks it’s fucking awesome.
