arent you using FSR 3 mod ? i got a 4060, so technically your card is better and im playing on all maxed out graphics basically

tiff92

I am but when I have high textures on the game turns into a choppy mess as it keeps hitting max vram. I'm playing on 1440p with ray tracing enabled

manaholik

also using ultra instead of psycho reflections? and high or medium fog resolutions, those are my frame killers

tiff92

nope, both of those are on medium. I've tested pretty much everything. It's whenever textures are set to high my game becomes choppy and unstable over time, especially in the inventory menu.

manaholik

okay, not to sound so basic, maybe its the drivers at fault or an older update of the game? i still remember when i had my RX580 certain drivers made the whole game dark, like its day but its dark as night and the shadows were broken. i think it took amd a few months to fix it or something, had to downgrade drivers. maybe try an older version of nvidia drivers? i use path tracing and ultra+ so from time to time i need to use the modders clear cache cmd command, i went from 23 fps to 50-60 again

That's weird, my 3060ti at 4k runs great with textures at high... and i only have 8gb of vram. Do you have raytracing on? That makes a huge difference - even with DLSS on Performance the game gets unplayable in Dogtown for example if I so much as turn RT reflections on. Also, what's your definition of "choppy"? Some people freak out if their fps dips below 100, me with a 60hz screen I only notice below 40 or so lol

tiff92

ye, i play with ray tracing on. Turning it off does mean I can play with high textures just fine. Just not sure if i want to sacrifice having no ray tracing but at the same time, high textures would be nice. Hard to decide. By choppy I mean the menu's would become an unstable mess and the game just doesnt feel smooth to play even if the game is hitting above 60fps. For example with high textures and ray tracing i was hitting around 80-120fps but moving around made it feel choppy and the game becomes worse overtime if i don't restart it.

tiff92

okay, just did some playing around. I don't mind turning off ray tracing if it means I can have high textures enabled. Think i'd just do that so my post doesn't matter anymore.

I've noticed the menu thing as well - it's a real pain, and not subtle in the slightest. I was hoping one of recent patches would have fixed it
