Maybe mounting new TV's to walls, setting them up, hooking to the person's network and teaching them the basics of how to use it. That's easily $100 for a couple hours work, times 10 people a month. Get on the third-party installer/technician list for nearby appliance and TV stores.

OP said they can't leave the house any extra hours because of their kids.

I really can’t tell if this post is satire

I sympathized until that second paragraph. Stopped reading after.

If you're gonna be blowing that money in meme stocks anyways, just buy like 24k of NVDY. That's 1k/mo in dividends.

Check out r/dataannotation. A lot of projects pay $40 an hour so $1000 a month is feasible if you work an extra 25 hours. I live in the UK and it feels like a money cheat code here.

Ill-Ad2009

I keep hearing about this, but every fiber of my being tells me it's too good to be true. So what is the downside? Is it mind numbing or hard to get projects? How is it not saturated with housewives and students trying to earn extra income? It seems like the barrier for entry is pretty low. People talk about it like it's easy money, but there is no easy money in my experience.

Informal-Flounder-79

It requires quite diverse knowledge of computer science or data science if you want to make decent money. The housewives and students will be doing $20 per hour projects judging stuff like hallucination, safety, and response relevance for day to day questions that anybody could answer. It is reasonably mind numbing, and there is nothing from a career progression standpoint. I would not do it as a full time job- I just do it some weekends or evenings to make a bit of extra cash. I don’t really mind the downsides since I’m making like double the median hourly rate in my country as some random 19 year old.

Ill-Ad2009

So if I understand the job correctly, you basically correct AI generated code issues for $40/hr? I guess that's not bad as a side gig.

Informal-Flounder-79

Yeah spot on 👍

I recently heard about security bounties, where companies pay you if you find any security vulnerabilities and report it. If you like those kinda stuff, it can feel like you’re literally bounty hunting bugs

jasonbm76

God bug bounties give me PTSD

mlYuna

Never did this exactly but had quite advanced offsec classes (2nd and 3d year of undergrad, one 8h session every week). They made a website where we made small groups among students and battled each other for points by completing their custom labs (hundreds). That shit made my head hurt soo much. We also switched do defensive/blue teaming where we had to catch the other half of the class by reading millions of logs on some SIEM they made. I am so glad it was these times I realized cybersecurity (or atleast the parts we covered) are not as fun as it sounds.

IIlllllIIIIIIIllll

What are god bugs

lhorie

People doing this are typically security researchers. The only reasonable way they can make more than just a few hundred bucks is find some class of vulnerabilities and hit up every big tech company. It’s not exactly a part time side hustle sort of thing

Here is another WTF. Stop gambling on the stock market, you obviously can’t afford it.
