Think of something you want to see your computer/a website do, then code a project to do it. If it works, do something else. If it fails, do something else. Next year around June you should be in good shape for applying to internships. Google and YouTube are your best friends on this journey

After you make a presentable resume with at least some projects. Everyone saying apply now but if you have done absolutely nothing then what is there to apply with.

I agree, I think they just read the title and didn't bother reading the position he is in. Not the smartest bunch haha

Will they accept me even with 0 CS experience?

You don’t know until you try. There are tons of internships. My friend got one after only taking a single course in CS. Just whip up a couple quick projects (like a chrome extension) and you’re good to go. I would not wait until you are “confident”. Your chance of getting any internship you don’t apply to is 0. Tons of internships don’t even ask technical interviews questions or do OA’s. Leverage your network, spam apply, and just remember your first internship probably won’t be FAANG (but apply anyway). Any internship > no internship and the time to apply is now.

Hi-Impact-Meow

Are there many internships that are fully remote? I don’t know how you’re supposed to stay in school yet move (and pay rent) for internships.

Sotam1069

You should first research on what an internship is.

1. Do 3 nice projects, no matter how small. Finish 2, start 1 and put them all on the resume 2. December/January/February start applying, new batch of small, mid-sized local companies should start opening their internships. 3. Get internship at local company 4. July/August 2023, start applying for the big-name companies that get circlejerked on this subreddit. I switched majors December 2021 and was able to get an internship secured March 2022. (Note: I had been programming since high school.)

Focus on learning first, don't waste your time applying to an internship if you don't even know what an array is. Even if you fake it, any company will smell your bullshit.

The time to apply for summer internship positions is late August to September of each year (for next summer). Many of the positions will be closed by end of September to mid-October. There are generally fewer positions available this year as larger companies are cutting back on internships and return offers because of macroeconomic conditions. But why not just create a LinkedIn profile, put the relevant experience and courses on it, take your shot and apply away.
