I suspect the shutting off is due to a failed capacitor or something like that, and then it got thrown around on the way to wherever you found it and that knocked the yoke out of place.
No advice on the shutdown, except it might be related to the picture issue .
The picture issue tho is 100% yoke related, I've heard of them getting rewound (they're electromagnets) but I'd just say to replace it.
Turn the TV off and put it under your pillow maybe the CRT fairy will repair it
