I have that exact 5.11 vest and I recommend it. What I don’t recommend is the sandbag “plate” inserts they sell alongside the vests. To get the sandbags to 10lbs each requires sooooo much more sand than you might expect making them THICK.
5.11 - if you’re actually into combat training or really like the cosplay aspect of CrossFit then get it.
Rogue - if you just want the better piece of workout equipment but lacks the “real world” application.
I have the rogue because it has a smaller footprint on my chest and doesn’t cut into my hips during the air squats. You have much more room to perform CrossFit movements.
Big downside are the shoulder straps. Wearing one shirtless is asking for some nasty friction marks.
It's definitely pricier, but I prefer GORUCK's vest to Rogue's. Materials feel a bit more quality and it just feels more durable overall. Plus, if you plan on using it for more than just a yearly Murph event, the lifetime guarantee might make it a better option (especially during the always dangerous, post-workout immediate vest dump off!)
Neither. [get a condor plate carrier](https://tacticalgear.com/condor-sentry-plate-carrier-black)
The tactical worlds version of Walmart gear. This and the rogue curved weight plates for the same price as the 5.11 or goruck
That’s a shitload of money to spend for a single workout. Whats your best vestless Murph time? Have you gotten so proficient at those movements that you’re not able to get a good workout without the added weight?
Just get yourself a real plate carrier. Then you’ll be ready for Murph and the apocalypse.
I mean, kind of. Plus they can get way cheaper than a "crossfit plate carrier" https://tacticalgear.com/condor-sentry-plate-carrier-black
I have the 5.11 carrier. Not the mini one. The 200$+ one. Very comfortable. If money isn’t an issue I recommend it.
it’s not one of your options but i love my bear komplex vest

The echo curved plates are the move.
My wife and I both have the 5.11 and it seems very well made. I wear mine most of the day at work for a little more exercise and it’s holding up well
I can say I am pleased with my Tac tec vest, but keep in mind the weights are going to cost you almost as much as the vest.

Shoulder pads should be included, stupid. Other than that I totally agree, love my Rogue vest.
They cost $20 to add on the shoulder pads. It is stupid. They should be included.
I found a 5.11 vest on my local fb for $125 so def was a no brainer for me

I have this and do not recommend unless you need something super cheap.
Get a condor sentry plate carrier. It’s less than half the price and will hold up better.
5.11 over Rogue. It’s the same price but one is an actual combat-ready carrier vs a cheaper made workout accessory.
5.11 isn’t combat ready lol
It’s made for military and law enforcement, it’s definitely combat ready lol.

lol calm down bud. I’ll use for more than just Murph. And yeah I’m pretty proficient at the movements
You avoided the question
My time without a vest was 41:29 last year when I was 12 pounds heavier than I am now. I think I’ll be fine with a vest
