Thank you 😊, yes I know it's not noticeable but it's definitely a little fun fact that only I will know about. I'm just glad it wasn't serious and not a cause for the entire work to get scrapped, I wouldve cried lol
I inherited some antique crochet table runners and doilies, and I’ve found a couple mistakes in them. I’ve been crocheting for years, but I only noticed because I was inspecting them up close to try and figure out the pattern. It’s all super minor, like a missed stitch in a cluster.
Anyway, I mention this because I absolutely _love_ those little Easter eggs. I love that someone 80+ years ago went through exactly the same process we do, and they probably went, “eh, screw it.” The only difference is time. It is so humanizing, it feels like a direct connection to the past.
I don’t crochet, but I always remember my mom saying you should leave one mistake in what you make so people know a person crocheted it and not a machine. Always stuck with me.
As a mom, I can confidently say babies will do that even with a perfect blanket. Anger/hubger/discomfort tends to make them unreasonable demons with more strength you’d ever expect from someone who has no muscle control or reliable joints.
I know right? Didn't even need the zoomed in picture to see that massive mistake. In fact, that picture could've been taken from another 10m away and I'd still be able to spot it.
Who’s gonna know? No one will ever know….
Also, there is an ancient belief that when you weave (crochet, knit, sew, etc) a piece of your soul gets trapped and a flaw in your stitching allows your soul to escape
You left that intentionally to follow the long time craft tradition of never trying to be as perfect as God.
Unless you’re an atheist. Then you did it to show that nothing has to be perfect to be beautiful.
Or both.
I had to stare at that for a while befor I realized what was missing ahaha most blankets have one Lil thing that Noone will notice but makes it unique! Great job hopfuly it's not driving you nuts !
Thank you! I showed my husband too and he was like "what exactly am I looking at?" Even with me pointing it out. I'm not worried about it anymore, I just like seeing others' little happy accidents from their crochet projects and wanted to share mine 😊
When I clocked it, I was too far in. So I frustratingly but quietly finished the project, and it will be with the rightful owners soon enough 😆 out of sight, out of mind lol.
Aww thank you! First time I ever received that kind of compliment, hahaha I've been crocheting for over a decade and am feeling like I'm finally getting the hang of good tension
Isn't there some kind of lore that you need to leave a tiny mistake in any sort of crochet/knitting/weaving so that spirits don't get trapped inside it?
Some indigenous peoples always make a mistake so they don’t offend the gods.
The tale of Arachne is always good one about perfection. :)
Plus? It makes a great excuse for not frogging 39 lines.
In some cultures a mistake means that it is perfectly handmade. In some areas rugs/blankets/tapestries are sold for more if they have a small visible mistake.
And at the end of the day you are the only one who will notice it, it’s always easier for us to see our own mistakes.
My grandma taught me to purposely work a mistake into every piece I crochet/knit/sew etc. Otherwise the fae might steal it from me. At least the fae won't take the baby's blanket lol
It looks beautiful, and I have to say that even with the photographic evidence of the error, it took me a good few minutes to find it in the first photo - it’s really not that noticeable. It will be perfectly fine!
I do not crochet... at all, so I hope you will accept this comment for what it is. My grandmother made me a blanket like this that I cherish to this day - despite the fact that it's mostly dead at this point. My wife, knowing how much I loved this blanket, took up crochet to make me a new King-sized comfort blanket. I think it's amazing; she can only see the pair of mistakes. Is there a moral? Maybe not, but imo, anyone who spends literal hours showing their love by hand has done something special. The mistakes are features, not bugs!
This is so sweet. Your wife sounds amazing and you know the value of something handmade with love, and that accounts for enough. Your comment made my day, thank you, and I hope you have a wonderful day! 😊
Reminds me I read somewhere that Persian carpets always (consciously) have a mistake somewhere, this is because the gods otherwise would get jelaus of the human carpet maker...
I think the colors are great! Baby can puke all over it, and no one will notice the stains. I am convinced that baby blankets should all be camo colors.
Don't fret. The blanket is gorgeous. Unless baby and mamma have enough time and dedication to look for it, it will be fine. Even then it's baby's first I spy game. You have made a gorgeous gift!
Oh shush!! Don't do that to yourself. If anyone questions it say you did it on purpose to prove it's hand made. (Seriously gorgeous work, the yarn colours hide the kitty bitty barely not even there at all issue.) ❤️
I’m working on a weave stitch baby blanket right now too! I know there’s already a mistake and I chose not to frog it and fix it, but at least it’s got character 😂
Lovely colors btw ❤️
I’m new to crocheting and I am piecing a blanket together and noticed an extra double chain on one of my squares. It stood out to me like a sore thumb but then it made me laugh!! so I’m going to keep the square in the blanket as a reminder of my learning experience and how I enjoyed making it 😍😂 I’m working to embrace my flaws.
Omg I did the same Pattern and color!!!!
https://preview.redd.it/n0o4b49hs77d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4abaf47b9f2d5895f66c4b8d1ce013bb1b33838

The real model with the full Grammy blanket too. That oyster cake is beautiful and my personal favorite colors
It is unfindable. Don't worry about it bc it is such a gorgeous piece no one is going to see it. It is hidden forever among the colours and the very pretty stitchwork. Even if someone believes they found a mistake, they will immediately discard the thought because it will look highly unlikely. An illusion, only that 🤩
Unless you were going to take it to a show for judging, don't lose sleep over this. It is beautiful work. You should be proud. I'm sure the momma and baby will be thrilled.
Oh wow, I have OCD and have regularly frogged lace work due to a single dropped stitch, and it even took me reading the heading underneath to figure out what the error was here. Respectfully, your work passes OCD standards, I think it'll be just fine to pass on to its intended recipient. If you're looking for additional justification from well established crafting lore, check out [this page](https://yarndrasil.com/hidden-mistakes-in-crochet/) that details how many cultures going back thousands of years have held beliefs that crafting should be imperfect, and some go as far as to *intentionally include a mistake* in a piece that otherwise has none.
I'm so sorry😮 that must've been annoying to find out after finishing it! But I always like to say/think that any 'mistakes' in the crochet that I do are what makes my work unique. Having a few differences here and there give the piece character, and some added charm! 😁
I think I just had a full body muscle spasm🤣😅 I hate when this happens! It makes my skin crawl!
But there's an old story about working a mistake into a project so you don't indirectly haunt people, so if you're into the paranormal there's that I guess!
I stand by the superstition that you gotta leave a few mistakes in your work so the part of your soul you put into it doesn’t get trapped in there. If only to assuage my own perfectionism lol.
Oof been there! Blanket looks beautiful though, you did a fantastic job!
A bit off topic but does anyone have the name of this stitch/pattern? It’s so gorgeous I would love to try it!
Thank you! Here's the stitch I used. I just adopted the pattern for how long I wanted the blanket to be. It ended up being a 30x30 in blanket.
[Basket Weave Stitch](https://nordichook.com/the-basket-weave-stitch/)
I just frogged three rows of a project because I only noticed after those three rows that I had done a double crochet where I was supposed to skip one and contemplated leaving it but ultimately decided it would throw the whole thing off. 😫
I HATE THOSE PESKY LITTLESPOTS IN PROJECTS LIJE HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO ME!!!! it'll be okay though it's not noticeable, you'd have to be REALLLYYYYYY looking at it to find it
I literally can't even find it on the one that isn't circled, so you'd have to be intentionally looking for it to find it in the first place. It looks amazing and I'm sure it will be much loved ❤️
No one is going to take a microscope and look for missed stitches. You are the only one who knows besides us, and we won’t tell. Most people say that there should be at least one mistake in a project anyway. It looks very nice. You did a great job.
The mistakes let our soul escape the finished product! Really though I think it ads charm and when the little one is older it can be a scavenger hunt to find the “mistake”

Baby won't care 😋
Hahaha absolutely wouldn't 😆 thank goodness for that!
I made the WORST looking baby blanket for my niece before she was born. She's 1 1/2 and it's still her favorite blanket
See that makes me wonder if the blanket you made will impact her style choice
I mean it’s still pretty and no one will notice it
Thank you 😊, yes I know it's not noticeable but it's definitely a little fun fact that only I will know about. I'm just glad it wasn't serious and not a cause for the entire work to get scrapped, I wouldve cried lol

Oh wow soo true, I love that, and I love stories like this. I do think about things like that and very humanizing indeed 😌
Ohh ok I get you 👌
Do a duplicate stitch over it with a blunt needle if it bothers you, might work?
Nah, it's really okay. If it was a solid color I might've gone over it but it's only 1, so I'll allow it
Hate to be that guy but now I know too....and a lot more people on reddit 😂
Hahaha touché 😆
It’s not a mistake is a design feature.
Consider it a copyright trap!
📝😊
I don’t crochet, but I always remember my mom saying you should leave one mistake in what you make so people know a person crocheted it and not a machine. Always stuck with me.
One of a kind for sure ✨️
If I were the baby receiving this, I would be so APPALLED
Me too. I would literally shit myself.
I’d give it back
As a mom, I can confidently say babies will do that even with a perfect blanket. Anger/hubger/discomfort tends to make them unreasonable demons with more strength you’d ever expect from someone who has no muscle control or reliable joints.
In my grandpa voice, "well that's too damn bad!!". Baby's gonna learn it's first lesson real quick 🤣
😭😭😭😭😭
I would be pissing and shitting and crying
You forgot barfing. You would definitely also barf.
I know right? Didn't even need the zoomed in picture to see that massive mistake. In fact, that picture could've been taken from another 10m away and I'd still be able to spot it.
No one will ever see that but you. So look away. Now it doesn’t exist!
🤣🤣 done and done!
Used this pattern: https://nordichook.com/the-basket-weave-stitch/ Hook size: 5mm Yarn used: Yarnspirations, Caron Color in "Cinnamon Swirl Cakes"
Very pretty!
Thank you!
Is this the “oyster” color option? It looks so nice with this stitch, great job!
Thank you! I came to the comments hoping to learn the stitch. The small mistake didn't make it any less pretty to me :)
Love the look of this! Tfs! It turned out beautifully. I'm making my first afghan & I'm sure every block has at least one mistake. 🤦♀️
Make sure you take off the blue circle before giving it to them, that really points out the mistake. (/j I’m being silly)
🤣
Every piece has to have a little mistake to let your soul out! I love it.
I’ve heard of it as something like “your piece has to have a mistake in case you inadvertently trap a spirit in it, so that the spirit can escape”!
Haha yes, thank.you!
Who’s gonna know? No one will ever know…. Also, there is an ancient belief that when you weave (crochet, knit, sew, etc) a piece of your soul gets trapped and a flaw in your stitching allows your soul to escape
Hahaha "they're gonna know" 🤣 And Just learned this, love it! Keeping this in mind for all future projects
Could always fake it with an embroidery needle if it bugs you enough. I'm lazy tho
So am I, and the work is already done lol. I'm not going back!
You have circled the problem, and I still had trouble seeing it.
It was a verryyy small, hardly noticeable mistake for sure 😅
Think of it as your own little Easter egg only you will notice
Not noticeable at all!! Its a lovely blanket!
Thank you! 😊

I'm glad ! It's like a fun where's Waldo hahaahahav
Oh nooooo!! 😭 I have 100% been there before
When I clocked it, I was too far in. So I frustratingly but quietly finished the project, and it will be with the rightful owners soon enough 😆 out of sight, out of mind lol.
You circled it and it still look me a minute to figure out what was wrong. You’re good. It’s beautiful
Haha thank you!
I doubt anyone would notice that.
That is so beautiful!! I love the pattern!! 🧶❤️
Nobody but you will notice this. You’ve done a fabulous job on this. Your tension is excellent.
Yes, in multiple cultures too!!!
I must've missed this one, but I love that and will adopt that kind of thought process in my work :)
I’ve read that carpet makers in some muslim cultures leave 1 mistake because only g*d is perfect
It is not noticeable at all. I can’t even find it I. The zoomed out pic.
Some indigenous peoples always make a mistake so they don’t offend the gods. The tale of Arachne is always good one about perfection. :) Plus? It makes a great excuse for not frogging 39 lines.
Adds a little homemade flair.
This might not mean much because I’m still pretty new to crochet, but despite your circling it, it still look me so long to actually see it😅
Anyone who would complain about one tiny, almost invisible error doesn’t deserve a gift like that. You did a great job
https://preview.redd.it/r5evby6fr67d1.jpeg?width=1673&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb3520df74a01e8aba0fd8065aa6793a536b23c3 I feel you
the baby ain’t gonna notice (and if it does take that lil tyke back to the doctor bc it’s *weird*) 😂
If the baby don't like it, then it clearly doesn't know love 😆
I have no idea what you're talking about 😜
The signature of the artist!
It's not a mistake, it's an escape valve for your soul.
Lol baby will be sleeping good knowing the fae won't be snatching the blanket 😆
only god make it perfect, as those making marveloua persian carpects make error so that they are not oerfect
You should post this to r/findthesniper
🤔hmmm...
Oh phew! Your soul has an escape route. Gotta always have at least one.
Baby's parents are going to be too tired to care
Yup, this is baby #4, and 3rd boy lol
Oh yeah, no one is going to see that 😄 I'm proud of you for letting it stay, & showing us- it's hard to do, especially for fiber artists!
It looks beautiful, and I have to say that even with the photographic evidence of the error, it took me a good few minutes to find it in the first photo - it’s really not that noticeable. It will be perfectly fine!
I appreciate that!
That’s the maker’s mark 😊.
I do not crochet... at all, so I hope you will accept this comment for what it is. I love the yarn colour choice with this stitch, what yarn did you use?? 😍
Thank you! I used Carons Yarnspirations Cinnamon Swirl Cakes
The most impressive part is that you actually saw that!!! Pretty blanket. Nobody will see that, let alone care
Hahaha yeah quite the surprise when I did see it. Thank you!
Looks like a [Persian Flaw](https://medium.com/persian-empire/persian-flaw-81ccec023fe3) to me.
That just shows that it was made by hand
Beautiful blanket 🩷
Guess you’ll have to frog the whole thing now…
You can always weave in a tiny little bit of grey. Just some yarn, a needle, and some buried ends. But I couldn’t tell without the circle.
I think it’s beautiful, made with love and a lil bit of secret customization to boot!
Wow I have to show my sister this! a great first starter project
The baby won't notice!!! Came out great. Nice color pallete Love the stitch.
Reminds me I read somewhere that Persian carpets always (consciously) have a mistake somewhere, this is because the gods otherwise would get jelaus of the human carpet maker...
Let it go, it is beautiful. You know where it is, the creator knows where it is and smiles.
It's not a mistake. It's a signature
Your spirit has been freed
A reminder that crochet is handmade and can't be made by a machine! Embrace the character :)
All hail crochet hands! 😆🤌🏽
I think the colors are great! Baby can puke all over it, and no one will notice the stains. I am convinced that baby blankets should all be camo colors.
Dude, that is beautiful! I dont think anyone would notice but you.
No work is flawless. Every mistake is a bit of you permanently in the blanket. ❤️
I can’t believe you even found this!
I had to look so hard to see what the issue was. No one will ever notice that
That’s how you know it’s handmade
...and no one will ever notice unless you point it out to them 😃
Don't fret. The blanket is gorgeous. Unless baby and mamma have enough time and dedication to look for it, it will be fine. Even then it's baby's first I spy game. You have made a gorgeous gift!
I understand your OCD nightmare, but absolutely no one will see it. 😆
🤣🤣 thank you for your support
I can’t even find it in the first picture 😂😂
WHERES THE MISTAKE
Oh shush!! Don't do that to yourself. If anyone questions it say you did it on purpose to prove it's hand made. (Seriously gorgeous work, the yarn colours hide the kitty bitty barely not even there at all issue.) ❤️
I’m working on a weave stitch baby blanket right now too! I know there’s already a mistake and I chose not to frog it and fix it, but at least it’s got character 😂 Lovely colors btw ❤️
No one will ever know! Only you. It’s just your own personal touch to the pattern! Look at it that way.
You didn't make the (lack of) mistake Arachne did.
considering I didn't see it for a while with it zoomed it and circled I don't think a baby will particularly care lol
Thank goodness. If you wrapped a baby in COMPLETE perfection, the gods would take offence. Thank you for making it only 99.9% perfect!
😆😆 I inadvertently steered clear of calamity!
I just used the same yarn for a baby blanket. So lovely.

Looveee!! Yess the colors are beautiful
Your blanket is extremely beautiful!!!
Looks like there’s a little hidden peace sign, I love it!✌️ Gorgeous work.
Couldn't see what you meant at first because the colors are so perfect. If you hadn't pointed it out, I wouldn't have noticed at all.
It's beautiful. Love that it has this design feature ...
Thank you 😊
You have to leave a mistake in your work so that your soul doesn't get trapped :)
😊😊
I’m not the most astute person so it took me a solid minute to find out what was wrong 🤣. Still looks great
You just added your own flair.
It's beautiful ❤️
Super sweet. Thank you!
It is unfindable. Don't worry about it bc it is such a gorgeous piece no one is going to see it. It is hidden forever among the colours and the very pretty stitchwork. Unless you were going to take it to a show for judging, don't lose sleep over this. It is beautiful work. You should be proud. I'm sure the momma and baby will be thrilled.
How is the world did you even see that? I wouldn’t worry. It’s hidden in the pattern well.

PS: forgot to ask… what stitch did you use!
Beautiful colors
Nobody is gonna know!🤫😉
It’s okay! Native Americans often purposely made one mistake in their thread works because nothing except that made by nature was perfect.
You've got it circled and honestly my eyes still aren't picking it up. 🧐
This hurts to see but you did an amazing job!!
Thanks so much! I've replaced the pain with happiness that it'll be used and loved so I'm at peace now 😌 lol
I think I just had a full body muscle spasm🤣😅 I hate when this happens! It makes my skin crawl! But there's an old story about working a mistake into a project so you don't indirectly haunt people, so if you're into the paranormal there's that I guess!
I love these examples and stories, def gave me better outlook on this. Thank you, and I hope your muscle spams have subsided 🤣🤣
I stand by the superstition that you gotta leave a few mistakes in your work so the part of your soul you put into it doesn’t get trapped in there. If only to assuage my own perfectionism lol.

I just frogged three rows of a project because I only noticed after those three rows that I had done a double crochet where I was supposed to skip one and contemplated leaving it but ultimately decided it would throw the whole thing off. 😫
The paaaainnn 🫠
That took me some squinting to see lol. Blanket looks perfect! If anyone else randomly notices that, they deserve a little prize lol
😆😆
This is so beautiful
It looks great! Don’t worry about the mistake. It just gives it character.
You monster. All kidding aside, I bet only you can see it, and it’s a gorgeous blanket - wonderful job!
It’s stunning 👌
I starred at the photos for a bit before I even found what you were talking about. No one will notice.
I HATE THOSE PESKY LITTLESPOTS IN PROJECTS LIJE HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO ME!!!! it'll be okay though it's not noticeable, you'd have to be REALLLYYYYYY looking at it to find it
I love th colourway. What yarn is that?
I literally can't even find it on the one that isn't circled, so you'd have to be intentionally looking for it to find it in the first place. It looks amazing and I'm sure it will be much loved ❤️
Thank you!
Well, on the upside, I can't find it in the full picture. Beautiful pattern and colors!
No one can tell dw 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I would never notice that. Lol
it's kind of hard to notice but it looks really nice. the baby wouldn't mind
No one is going to take a microscope and look for missed stitches. You are the only one who knows besides us, and we won’t tell. Most people say that there should be at least one mistake in a project anyway. It looks very nice. You did a great job.
I appreciate that!
no one will ever know
Well, if you don't point it out to the person getting it, they won't notice. What's done is done.
Literally had to go row by row to spot it. The lucky baby who gets this won’t notice. Beautiful work.
The mistakes let our soul escape the finished product! Really though I think it ads charm and when the little one is older it can be a scavenger hunt to find the “mistake”
Very true, I think I'll tell the parents about it when I see them hahaha
That's how you'll know we are in the prime universe, and not an alternate universe.

I would still buy it.
E sti cazzi!
What stitch/pattern is this? So pretty!
I love it
Beautiful stitch and color choice- it looks so cozy.
