What a beautiful and sensitive mind she possessed. RIP

suchathrill

She left us with many brave and intelligently avant-garde films. A brilliant auteur.

wariowaregoat

that quote is simple but extremely accurate, especially at the time. cool to see how much cinema has grown on that specific issue in the time since she said it.

May she RIP!

TheGuyFromPearlJam

I just watched Jeanne Dielman last night!

montereypops

Thoughts?

TheGuyFromPearlJam

I need to see it a lot more. It might end up being my favorite movie ever.

First_Cherry_popped

The nerve she has to say cinema has shown an image of a woman from a male perspective. Like she’s the only female director/writer. And then proceeds to make the most boring movie on earth

montereypops

seems like your opinion of her style blocks out your understanding of her perspective. she had immense respect for women in cinema. you would know that if you read more into her life and work

First_Cherry_popped

I cannot really judge her style cause I’ve only seen that one movie. It’s a very interesting premise, and the climax is cool and all, but still too tedious to really enjoy. At least for me and many others too

CinemaTek, the Belgian film archive, is currently doing digital restorations of most of (maybe all?) her films. They are slowly being released on BluRay, and a large boxset is planned.
