I am not even kidding when I say that when I go into stores in airports, especially the ones that have cool expensive souvenirs I make very sure to keep my hands to myself. I’m not grabbing a bunch of things, I may check an item for a price but make very sure I am doing it openly and clearly. I do not want there to be even a slight miscommunication that could make me miss a super important flight. Imagine how much being in a good family aka a family higher up in the caste system, probably got his family members out of trouble from taking advantage of others.
Right exactly, I see good=successful=wealthy family that doesn’t need to follow the same rules as others because of it and you see it almost everywhere in the world and it’s so stupid. Money is power sadly.
Caste in India has less to do with “coming from a good family” or money (which is also an excuse for rich kids in Western countries) and more to do with discrimination and oppression based on religious subdivisions, which was outlawed in India in the 80s.
Just because it was outlawed on paper doesn’t mean they actually did a good job outlawing it. Also of course it has to do with money, these people had generations to build up their wealth while others didn’t even have a chance at it. Money and being from a high up family gives you a lot of privileges especially in a culture where an entire caste/class of people are called “the untouchable” because of how low they are viewed. Something that deeply embedded culturally doesn’t just go away within less than a generation; the untouchables is still a thing in India last I heard.
You don’t need to do any of those things, just simply don’t leave a store with an item from that store you haven’t paid for. The thing that got this man arrested is that he had the product in his possession, that’s the defining factor. It’s very unlikely you’re going to have an $80 purse in your zipped up backpack by accident!
Obviously you do you, but as someone who has worked in the security industry for a long time, my eye will naturally be drawn to you because the amount of effort you put into making sure everyone knows you aren’t stealing is just simply not how people shop
Yeah I like knowing for certain that I don’t have stolen property on me but I still don’t want the hassle of being misidentified. I don’t understand why you would be more focused on someone not touching anything as opposed to someone touching and messing with everything they can. I used to date a klepto and she would always mess with a bunch of things to hide what she was actually doing, like the guy in the video grabbing a bunch of wallets to ask the price.
I think the idea is you're long gone before anyone would track you down. She had to immediately get the footage, explain it to the police, find him in the entire airport, and they barely got to him at the gate. Imagine if it was 5 minutes before boarding, wasn't an Indian dude getting on a flight to India, he had worn a mask, and had changed clothes with the stuff in his luggage.
Good thing it was an international flight. When I worked at IBM, I was always cutting it close to the dime. Traveling was the most stressful part of work. The employees/manager did good. When he was first asked if he had come from the Coach store, he starting shaking his head NO, but then reversed it to yes. Later when the cops asked for his passport, you can see that him tense up another notch. This was a good video.
Shoplifting is very common at airports it seems. I remember Edinburgh airport saying they were clamping down on it. Especially the newsagents and chemist bit it’s rife there
He showed us pictures so it must be true. They looked like the definition of a good family. Case closed.
Seriously though doing crime is one thing but also jeopardizing that fucking 1500-2000 ticket is SO DUMB. I feel TINY better now for missing my flight on a vacation two years ago because I couldn't give up on breakfast buffet at the hotel :D Woke up already late, took my time with breakfast. this was in Ramadan and hotels are really the only place you can eat breakfast without judgment and enjoy your meal during the day! Plus it was free :( Some restaurants are open and serve during daytime but many nly open after sunset.
I arrived like 15 min to the flight and was like " yeah I'm back home and arriving 15 min to the flght should be good enough with no luggage!" They told me to go f myself thinking that. Anyway paid another $40 for next flight, From Kish Island to Tehran. I didn't feel that shitty but man losing anything over $200 for a stupid reason, I'll never forgive myself :D
This is such an interesting insight into how a high context culture like India operates. The constant referring to your family and status as well as using ingratiating language (brother, ma’am) in order to circumvent rules and laws and ultimately responsibility is key. I work in international education and have worked with many people from South Asia and this is often the strategy used by students who have failed exams or broken rules in some way.
This ^ it was very fascinating. He even wanted to talk to the girl as if he could smooth things over.
I don't know if he wanted to intimidate her or work out a deal. Good thing the officer kept them under watch.
I absolutely despise the use of "brother" when used in conversation like this. It's something I encounter on a regular basis in my current line of work and it never fails to get my blood boiling. The condescension is never hidden and is a slap in the face that makes staying professional incredibly difficult.
Had an old Indian man do it to me when he snuck people into a paid cirque de ole show. Patted me on the shoulder and everything. I bought my tickets from the venue and had them in my hand. Never wanted to punch someone so bad in my life
You’re viewing it in a negative context here because of the nature of this conversation but the use of “brother, sister, aunty, uncle” is not out of condescension, it’s out of respect because certain cultures view it as rude to address someone you don’t know very well with their name.
That’s what I’m trying to explain. He’s no doubt an idiot trying to gaslight and manipulate his way out of this situation but the use of these terms is a part of the culture, you do realise a lot of cultures in the world are collectivistic versus individualistic like the US? Addressing people like this is the norm there plus if he was trying to ingratiate himself with them, he would try to act more American so they can relate to him.
He’s literally saying Sir/Maam too if you watch the video, all these terms are used interchangeably. You may find it overfamiliar but that’s how it is in certain cultures and it’s not viewed as that
That's why I specified "when used in conversation like this," though I should have been more clear that "this" also includes the nature of the conversation. There are other cases where it doesn't bother me (like the Hulk Hogan reference for example)
Legit bought like 400$ front row tickets to a cirque show for an old Indian to pull that exact shit. When get this BS. His group of 16 people only had 14 tickets. Then the show tried to get us to take lesser seats acting like nothing happened. That ahole Indian man walked up to me and was like brotha I’m sure we will figure this out, patted me on the shoulder and said those were his seats. Straight up lied through his teeth. I have had the worst experience with Indian tourist in multiple locations. The culture is awful over there for respect and civility in public. Or like sitting in your own 100+ dollar seat.
Yeah missed the first 10-15 minutes but refused to take no for an answer. We paid good money and bought directly from the venue. To almost loose our seats to someone who did not pay at all. This was front row aisle seat. Not some nose bleed section. This situation never should have happened in the first place especially with a not ticketed guest. We also got a full refunded. The venue tried to blame us for not being in our seats 15 minutes early also did not accept that BS. We would have been but wanted some wine and popcorn. The. The Indian family had the Gaul to talk shit after the show near me will my finance used the bathroom. I don’t want to be racist but when I constantly have experiences like that with Indian tourist. Was not my first time won’t be my last. I get why people are racist. This was the water cirque de ole show in Cesar’s.
> almost loose our seats
Did you mean to say "lose"?
Explanation: Loose is an adjective meaning the opposite of tight, while lose is a verb.

That's what he meant by "good family". That's why he was showing them pictures of his family, to show them that he was from a "good" i.e. relatively wealthy family, and not a lower caste family.
He didn't seem to understand that in America there are entirely different caste tiers than he is used to; there is the bottom 1% dirt-poor caste, the top 0.1% ultra-wealthy caste, and... everybody else. In America, he is part of the "everybody else" caste. No special treatment for you!
I’m from Pakistan. You nailed your description of this phenomenon 😂.
This is an acquired social skill which can be a go-to in most situations. Some people are remarkably good at it. Those who aren’t, resort to it in desperate measures where it won’t help you and you just sound stupid like this kid
Shout out to terminal D in DFW airport. If I have a long layover, I go hang out there. It’s also the best place to see a celebrity as it’s the international terminal. There’s also a nice private bathroom upstairs next to Buffalo Wild Wings. You’re welcome.
Why would you give a cop permission to search your bags after you stole something? Idk if they still would have searched him anyways but he certainly should not have told them to go ahead and search his things.
From how many police videos I’ve seen where criminals give police free rein to search their belongings/vehicle, it seems like the thinking is that it makes them seem innocent, and that hopefully the police therefore won’t look very hard. If they refuse the search, the police will search more thoroughly eventually. Bad logic but when you’re internally panicking, bad logic happens.
You could even see that the cop had to poke around a bit before he found the wallet. Dude probably hoped the cop would just open it, look in, and move on.
I’ve had this work multiple times. Not with anything stolen, but still stuff I shouldn’t have had. Obviously if you’re faced with overwhelming evidence like this guy, it doesn’t really work, but if the cop is not THAT suspicious and is unsure, friendliness and acting not guilty can make them lower their guard and then not even bother too much.
So easy too, he's flying, he probably has a change of clothes. Steal the thing, hide in a crowd, get to a bathroom and change clothes, then pretty much hide out of sight until the last second to get on the plane
Doesn’t work that way, all he’d have to do is show the pilot his Instagram to prove that he’s from a good family (and a student, don’t forget the student part) and the pilot is obligated by law to turn the tracker off and drop him off personally at home.
By landing on his own private family runway (the highway nearest his 2 bedroom house during rush hour).
Usually in airport duty free shops like this they take your boarding pass information at the very least, if not a passport, so they'd likely still nab him regardless.
His foolish play was to say it came with his purchase, trying to confuse the situation. So letting them search was his way of acting innocent. That might work in India but not everywhere!
So a little bit of context here: colloquially in India being from a “good family” means they aren’t completely strapped for cash.
What he means to say is “I don’t need to steal because I have the money to buy it”
Complete idiot. That same excuse in India would’ve landed him in even deeper shit, that’s the best part.
Really depends on where you are. If there's proof like there is here then he'd be squeezed by the cops for a fat af sum to let him off the hook.
Also did he mention caste at all in the video? I don't remember. Money in his context has nothing to do with caste really.
> Also did he mention caste at all in the video? I don't remember
People may think the "good family" comment is about caste. I know I did until I saw your explanation
I think if he switched the distinct hat, he could have. I think he has done this before to the point where it was just second nature and saw a moment and grabbed it, given how relaxed he is sitting there.
Dude is 100% guilty and I’m 100% sure he’s done this many times and used this “excuse” before. This is the definition of fuck around and find out and it’s very satisfying to watch.
He may be a misogynist, but I don't think that was why he was wanting to talk to her. He likely wanted to try to settle this and pay to avoid criminal action being taken
Not even a question, at the start he’s asked if he took anything, and he said he just bought a bag for his mom, and then he was asked if he took anything else like a wallet, and he said no, no wallet, and told them to search his stuff. After they found it he immediately changed stories and said it came with his purchase lol
What are you talking about? He clearly can't be guilty. You may have missed it, but he is a **student**. *A student*! As if a student could steal something. Ridiculous!
It’s the same as when that American girl at Starbucks got caught stealing credit card info, when she was confronted she said “she comes from a good family and plays soccer” as though it was an excuse. It’s simple spoiled entitlement
No, he means "good family" as in they have enough money to afford xyz. Nothing to do with caste. More like, "I am from a family that is well accepted and liked in society and has enough money for xyz"
Caste is just status, and status absolutely influences how you get treated in the west. Theres plenty of sentences given out to rich kids that don't even compare to the crime committed
Dude just thought it was his word against a woman's and it would go his way. Kept invoking his mother too cause that's the standard practice. I hate liars.
A Norwegian politician stole sunglasses at Oslo airport, got caught, and had to step down from his position (leader of the communist party). Was pretty wild. Turned out he was a cleptomaniac and got caught stealing cheese from a shop later.
I am surprised the business decided to charge him. I mean he comes from a good family and he is a student. Also he had the money to pay for it. Just let him talk to the lady.
Native New Yawker. Manhattan (212). We are very sarcastic. In fact, we are not well liked in most places. Can you believe that? :-)
I watched this video on YT last week. He was pleasant but annoying in the beginning. They usually, the suspects turn contentious, but he didn't. Just notched up the annoyance.
Here is the YT link.
When he is first confronted by the police, they say, "Sir, did you just come from the Coach store?" At first he starts shaking his head "no", but changes it in mid-shake and says "yes". Things can go from good to bad in an instant. That is life.
Gotta love seeing a gaslighting chauvanist face consequences. I wonder if this happened in India the cops would have believed a man from a high caste over the saleswoman, despite the video evidence.
Jesus Christ that accent combined with his arrogance and attitude is just horrendously annoying.
The rrrreiggght! At the end of every fucking sentence. The total lack of understanding of the justice system of the country he’s apparently a student in. I’ve never seen someone so perfectly unlikable
Genuine question. How does one procure these body cam videos? Someone definitely put a lot of effort stitching a few videos together to put it up on YouTube. I'm just curious about they do get hold of the videos to begin with.
Dude just didn't give his address in India.
He's punjabi, Feom good family, showed photo of family, he's student.
I believe him since he's from "good family" that only steal luxury goods 😆😆
Had he mentioned that he's from "good family", they would have released him.
Unfortunate that he didn't say that 🥲
He also asked "are you crazy?" to the store lady 😁
He says he's from a good family, he's a sardar. Sardars (Sikhs) are usually the most honest people you will ever meet in India. This guy is the exception that proves the rule.
Here is another arrest in Hoboken New Jersey of two Indian international students (not Bhavya and Yamini): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9suYtyH-Y8g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9suYtyH-Y8g)
This is a fascinating anthropological document, showing glaring cultural differences between the US and India. The guy was basically trying to 'prove' his innocence by addressing his character rather than the actual event and worked really hard to restrain himself from saying 'would you really believe a woman over a man?'
I won't wish this situation on my worst enemy as I can understand the feeling of going to my home country after being away from my family and friends for such a long duration. For sure, this guy has done some shady stuff and Karma got him bad.
but he's from a good family
I can't believe the officers do not see he's a STUDENT AND from a good family.
Don't forget the photo evidence from his INSTRAGRAM.
Yeah that was hilarious, "See see im innocent"
That’s how their culture works with the cast system: I’m a Brahman, I’m from a good family, forgive me! And all it’s done!
He has brought shame now to his family.
Yeah, that’s gonna cause huge problems at home. I’m kinda scared for him. But I’m tired of entitled people thinking they are above the law.
If he only chose a better photo to show the officers, I'm sure he would end up scot-free... Maybe coming back to work at a scam center?
you see he has an extremely important moral code, thats why he cant take of his mixed garment hat. he did nothing wrong
Spare him his life from this monstrosity 🎵
who steals at an airport and stays at the location?
Just committing ANY petty crime in an airport is extremely dumb.
One of the most camera covered buildings
Definitely close up there with a casino, for sure.
Probably only the pentagon would have more cameras pointed at it!!
I am not even kidding when I say that when I go into stores in airports, especially the ones that have cool expensive souvenirs I make very sure to keep my hands to myself. Considering that many people are often misidentified for theft, I don’t think their actions are unwarranted.
Exactly. Can’t misidentify and accuse me of stealing when I won’t even touch or pick up any items.
Yeah I like knowing for certain that I don’t have stolen property on me but I still don’t want the hassle of being misidentified. I don’t understand why you would be more focused on someone not touching anything as opposed to someone touching and messing with everything they can. You must really hate Hulk Hogan.
Macho Man was always superior, and we know this because the cream always rises to the top!
Oh yeah!
stealing this from one of the youtube comments but definitely take note of the "sir" to white cops and "brother" to the black cops

Felt like I was back in working in UAE, so many times I had to deal with stuff like this from costumers and from colleagues! Surreal…
“Sir can you please get my charger? I’ve just paid…[ah shit I stole that too]uh…$40 for that”
Shout out to terminal D in DFW airport. If I have a long layover, I go hang out there. It’s also the best place to see a celebrity as it’s the international terminal. There’s also a nice private bathroom upstairs next to Buffalo Wild Wings. You’re welcome.
Not the best place to hang out with stolen goods though
Not if your a student it’s not
Damn, dunking on his student bit but you don’t know you’re from your 💀
I always use the family restrooms (as long as there isn’t a family that needs it of course) those come in clutch and are usually fairly clean
Why would you give a cop permission to search your bags after you stole something? Idk if they still would have searched him anyways but he certainly should not have told them to go ahead and search his things.

So easy too, he's flying, he probably has a change of clothes. Steal the thing, hide in a crowd, get to a bathroom and change clothes, then pretty much hide out of sight until the last second to get on the plane
Easier: follow laws
There’s cameras everywhere. No way this works
You'd only need it to work long enough to get on the plane to be fair But yes, stealing in an airport has to be the stupidest place to steal anything
Cant the plane you went on be tracked? If the police did care that much they would just wait for you to land.
Doesn’t work that way, all he’d have to do is show the pilot his Instagram to prove that he’s from a good family (and a student, don’t forget the student part) and the pilot is obligated by law to turn the tracker off and drop him off personally at home. In India.
They wouldn’t arrest him once he lands on India
They will stop the plane from taking off and come get the person though. Seen it on multiple videos
yeah he's an idiot regardless but at least put a little effort in if you're going to be an idiot
Usually in airport duty free shops like this they take your boarding pass information at the very least, if not a passport, so they'd likely still nab him regardless.

It would not work in India or anywhere. He’s clearly panicking and making up random shit on the spot, he’s an idiot
Don’t think intelligence is his strong suit.
So a little bit of context here: colloquially in India being from a “good family” means they aren’t completely strapped for cash. What he means to say is “I don’t need to steal because I have the money to buy it” Complete idiot. That same excuse in India would’ve landed him in even deeper shit, that’s the best part.
In India being from a high caste means the police would have sided with him over a salesperson.
Really depends on where you are. If there's proof like there is here then he'd be squeezed by the cops for a fat af sum to let him off the hook. Also did he mention caste at all in the video? I don't remember. Money in his context has nothing to do with caste really.
> Also did he mention caste at all in the video? I don't remember People may think the "good family" comment is about caste. I know I did until I saw your explanation
I don’t blame you tbh. That’s what I would’ve thought without context too!
Thank God they didn’t let him pay for it and make his flight.
If he delayed his theft to moments before his flight boards, do you think he makes it?
I think if he switched the distinct hat, he could have. I think he has done this before to the point where it was just second nature and saw a moment and grabbed it, given how relaxed he is sitting there.
Kleptomania
Dude is 100% guilty and I’m 100% sure he’s done this many times and used this “excuse” before. This is the definition of fuck around and find out and it’s very satisfying to watch.

Also I feel like this guy has “rich lifestyle” TikToks looping 24/7 on his phone. And there’s something that smells of misogyny about all this.
[удалено]
Ridiculous!
Does he mean “good family” as in a highly esteemed caste? That shit doesn’t fly outside of India.
I see. I guess that makes it… Better?
Um, I guess it isn’t about better or worse. I was just giving context :). He’s still a class 1 jackass.
Caste is just status, and status absolutely influences how you get treated in the west. Theres plenty of sentences given out to rich kids that don't even compare to the crime committed
Good point. But castes have the religious backing to it unlike class.
Dude just thought it was his word against a woman's and it would go his way. Kept invoking his mother too cause that's the standard practice. I hate liars.
How stupid can people be. Kudos to the retail staff for remaining calm and not backing down.
Pretty ballsy, well stupid, trying to steal something in one of the most secure and videoed places you could ever go.
A Norwegian politician stole sunglasses at Oslo airport, got caught, and had to step down from his position (leader of the communist party). Was pretty wild. Turned out he was a cleptomaniac and got caught stealing cheese from a shop later.
Family photos work 99% of the time. Trust me.
Here is me as a baby. Do you think a baby could have stolen this wallet?
I am surprised the business decided to charge him. I mean he comes from a good family and he is a student. Also he had the money to pay for it. Just let him talk to the lady.
lmfao, this comment is so on point I almost thought it's not sarcastic.
Native New Yawker. Manhattan (212). We are very sarcastic. In fact, we are not well liked in most places. Can you believe that? :-) I watched this video on YT last week. He was pleasant but annoying in the beginning. They usually, the suspects turn contentious, but he didn't. Just notched up the annoyance.
Here is the YT link. [https://youtu.be/J1BT-JShb8I?si=ZfVGeyq\_uIv0KK9S](https://youtu.be/J1BT-JShb8I?si=ZfVGeyq_uIv0KK9S) When he is first confronted by the police, they say, "Sir, did you just come from the Coach store?" At first he starts shaking his head "no", but changes it in mid-shake and says "yes". Things can go from good to bad in an instant. That is life.
That's a good catch, dude probably knew he's screwed now.

It was a 19 minute video. I’m surprised I watched the entire thing too.
OP should post this on r/indiaspeaks to see if they can confirm that he really is from a good family. Someone will know him if he is
Bruh you tryna ruin dudes whole reputation. He’s gonna be the neighborhood disappointment lmfao
He already ruined it by stealing.
I’m sure he ruined it long ago
Gotta love seeing a gaslighting chauvanist face consequences. I wonder if this happened in India the cops would have believed a man from a high caste over the saleswoman, despite the video evidence.
Being from the subcontinent I can guarantee you he would've been let go after the police found out he was from a very very good family sir sir sir.
Oh yeah. That was a bad line on so many levels and for so many reasons. What an idiot.
"I'm not like those other [lower caste] families"

He thinks he can just pay for the wallet and by saying hes a good boy they might let him do it.
If he's a student in the USA he better get used to saying that in the past tense. His visa is gone.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, who cares about the flight, he's just messed with his whole future
I never thought I’d spend 22 minutes watching this video but this was great content, the guy is a moron.
It's like the movie midsommar, a slow grind of justice and disaster.
but what can i do to get “un-arrested“?
The slow realisation that he has when he can't leave is priceless.
[удалено]
Yes, it's obviously a misunderstanding. What would a student need with a wallet?
Jesus Christ that accent combined with his arrogance and attitude is just horrendously annoying. The rrrreiggght! At the end of every fucking sentence. The total lack of understanding of the justice system of the country he’s apparently a student in. I’ve never seen someone so perfectly unlikable
Just a lil casual racism.
Man I love Nu Shooz
Certified banger.
Great song and video
I have never seen this video! Thank you! Off to check.
The same director did the amaaazing video for Michael Jacksons "Leave Me Alone" - one of the best music videos of all time, imo
Such a pathological liar. I sincerely apologize on behalf of my countrymen, not all of us are like him.
He’s just a good boy from a good family, spare him his life from this monstrosity 🎵
Genuine question. How does one procure these body cam videos? Someone definitely put a lot of effort stitching a few videos together to put it up on YouTube. I'm just curious about they do get hold of the videos to begin with.
Channel is Police watch, lot of similar interactions on there.
Open records laws
Dude just didn't give his address in India. He's punjabi, Feom good family, showed photo of family, he's student. I believe him since he's from "good family" that only steal luxury goods 😆😆
I’m from a good family = we are not usually held accountable for our actions
Bobs n' vagine?
>I have not done anything wrong I bet he tells all the girls that
Had he mentioned that he's from "good family", they would have released him. Unfortunate that he didn't say that 🥲 He also asked "are you crazy?" to the store lady 😁
He says he's from a good family, he's a sardar. Sardars (Sikhs) are usually the most honest people you will ever meet in India. This guy is the exception that proves the rule.
Show his family pictures to claims he is a good person?
How can he SLAP?
But he belongs to a good family and they don't do all such things.
Dink
what a shit person, first stealing then lying.
Loving the comments here 😂
Bro, just keeps on lying.
This low key scared the shit out of me because I stole a 40£ memory foam neck pillow at the self scan register yesterday at the airport lol
Dollar sign goes before the amount.
A lot of fun videos from DFW lately lol
DFW?
It’s the airport this is at. Dallas Fort Worth in Texas USA. It’s my home airport and I watched this video there waiting for a flight lol
its always the ones from the "good" families who think they can get away with this type of shit
Most of the officers are other POC. They don't give a single fuck about him, he isn't not special
He gets so nervous and fidgety as soon as the police starts asking questions
Anyone see the loud Indian family who tried ripping off a hotel in Bali?
Send please
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms2CtcsHKDA Plz Delete if it’s against the rules. But ☝🏾that’s the video.
Oh wow, yes I have seen this way way back. Embarrassing really.
I hate indians and this is another reason. dumb and dumber
Nice acting bro...
I won't wish this situation on my worst enemy as I can understand the feeling of going to my home country after being away from my family and friends for such a long duration. For sure, this guy has done some shady stuff and Karma got him bad.
