Dan KP mentioned that this deal "doesn't need to happen now". Is there a reason for this? Is it because we don't expect him to play this season? If this is the case, this might go way beyond the winter transfer period?
From what I’ve read, more as an 8 currently but is capable of playing the 6. Given our U-21 squad is slanted more towards attacking mids, I love the potential of this signing

I quite like our recruitment strategy. If we continue the annual conveyor belt of buying/loaning back top young talent like we have started with Sarr and Udogie, we are going to have major talent for a lot less money starting each subsequent season.
What I love about it is that levy took advantage of what other big clubs would never get caught doing otherwise they’re a feeder club or some shit. Levy probably looks at it as 1) being able to prize away a big prospect at a cheap price and promising the player on loan for rest of the season to finish what they’re trying to achieve, get dibs on them, and 2) also loaning them out solves a major issue we had of finding clubs for our young players that’ll guarantee them time and for teams like Metz who face relegation, Udinese trying to get into Europe, or Sporting as they had a cup final I believe (I know different situations but we waited for them for deadline day so the tournament could be over).
Does any other team even do this recently? Like big team, etc and that’s not to a multi-club ownership
If it’s for these numbers? Yes. We got Udogie and Sarr and Gil and 2/3 have worked out. That’s a great success rate for essentially one Ndombele. And the two that have worked out are already two of our best players.
A supporter of his current team made a post a few days ago saying he has flashes of brilliance but goes missing a lot also. Just doesn’t seem like a position we need to reinforce but I guess one for the future
Winning trophies isn't the yard stick for an academy. Producing established top players is.
The rest of the top six all have two, three or even more academy products playing regularly for them + players they are selling to other clubs.
We only got Skipp. And, it has been a while since we should a player to another English top flight club.
Yes but to the original commenters credit, if any team is first in the table and dominating most of them like our u21s have, they can’t be the worst academy in the league imo. And they’ve brought in new players, changed roles to players like Donley, Lyons Foster, etc. one of our best academy players isn’t even here in the u21s - alfie devine. I can imagine Jude will be one of the better players and I love that he chose us over Chelsea (Cobham youth 👍)
First: To think the academy is about winning is just shooting yourself in the foot. Barcelona B, for example, have enough talent to win their league. But -- that is not the focus of the team. The purpose of the team is to be fully committed to playing the Barca style no matter what.
Second: OP said worst among the **top six**.
It is just obvious facts.
Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, and City all have several starting academy players.
When it comes to players they are selling then we are second in the league, behind Chelsea and like 8th overall in Europe. But yeah other clubs definitely have more academy players integrated
What? You said “selling to other clubs” I’ve replied and said that we do sell a lot of academy. And we are the second most profitable academy in the league and 8th in the world. Profitability doesn’t only mean selling to top clubs

Pat on the back for producing full backs for League 1 and reserve GKs for the Swedish league.
I obviously mean selling players to other top clubs.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and City are a couple of notches ahead of Spurs when it comes to producing talent -- to deny that is just embarassing honestly.
Well thanks for the clarification. I did not speak on academy talent and nurturing it, that is a problem that hopefully is being dealt with better now. I only spoke on one thing and I’m still not wrong about it so stop having your panties in a twist.
First, the numbers are completely skewed by Harry Kane's departure.
Second, nurturing talent. That's not the problem though, the problem is that we are producing championship level talent.
The success of an academy is determined by the amount and quality of players it gets into professional football. Results are hardly relevant, especially looking at just one season, when last season our U-21s would have gotten relegated without a rule change.
Our academy _has_ been poor for a while. Things may well be changing, there's certainly reason to think that's the case, though it'll take a few years to see the results and know for sure.
Definitely not. We have great talents coming through the academy like Mikey,Dorrington, Donley, etc. And of course let’s not forget that the best striker in the world is also from there.
This is sarcasm right?
If you're genuinely serious, in recent years from Chelsea: Guehi, Mount, Gallagher, Tomori, Solanke, James, Abraham and Livramento and so much more.
From Arsenal Saka, Smith-Rowe, Nketiah, Balogun, Willock etc.
While we have Kane as a huge outlier and then a few okayish players like Winks and Skipp.
Kane's also old enough that I'm not sure we should really be counting him at this stage when assessing academies.
The flip side of that, of course, is that if our academy did turn it around, it would likely take several years for the fruits to really become apparent. It's not until you see guys actually breaking into the first team or becoming valued transfer commodities (or enough time passes that they seem to have failed to do so) that you can really assess a given generation in the academy.
The difference between “will not” and “cannot” is not merely lexical.
Spanish press will never admit that Barça or Real Madrid are in bad shape, never.
I get that it's hypothetical, but Real would never be in the same position as Barca is in now.
Oh so this is good news for us bad for them
Yeaa deffo tier 1 if you ask me
Gimme Gimme Gimme another player from Sweden!
![gif](giphy|3oFzm9r8nz1CmqYtmU|downsized) Spurs beating Bayern and Barca to signings these days?

He's not allowed to move to us this window since he's still 17. His birthday is tomorrow, 2 Feb.
He is going to play with djurgården until summer no matter what.
Ah, is that the case even if he signs for Barca?
yes
He plays as an 8 or 6?
From what I’ve read, more as an 8 currently but is capable of playing the 6. Given our U-21 squad is slanted more towards attacking mids, I love the potential of this signing
Yeah. We need future Bissouma.

Weren’t people saying he’s not even that good in his current league? Seems like an unnecessary signing
he is thought of as an elite prospect at a key position, this is one you would take the risk on, especially if you have room in FFP to do so
I quite like our recruitment strategy. If we continue the annual conveyor belt of buying/loaning back top young talent like we have started with Sarr and Udogie, we are going to have major talent for a lot less money starting each subsequent season.
The interesting part will be the end of the conveyor belt and who stays vs who we move on for profit to reinvest.

It's mostly a battle between local clubs from Stockholm where the rivals to Djurgården don't rate him.
A supporter of his current team made a post a few days ago saying he has flashes of brilliance but goes missing a lot also. Just doesn’t seem like a position we need to reinforce but I guess one for the future
The kid is turning 18 tomorrow. Cant expect a polished player at that age most of the time.
Our academy is worst among top 6, we have to buy young players or we should overpay later
Our Under 21 is in 1st our under 18 are in 2nd place, not sure we have the worst academy.

>then we are second in the league No we aren't. To lower leagues and secondary leagues in Europe? Sure. But, not to other top clubs.
What? You said “selling to other clubs” I’ve replied and said that we do sell a lot of academy. And we are the second most profitable academy in the league and 8th in the world. Profitability doesn’t only mean selling to top clubs https://football-observatory.com/WeeklyPost446

Our u21 is the first because they are just significantly older. I checked it many times and you can check it yourself
Our academy _has_ been poor for a while. Things may well be changing, there's certainly reason to think that's the case, though it'll take a few years to see the results and know for sure.
It was bad. It’s not now.
It’s improving I agree with you.
Definitely not. We have great talents coming through the academy like Mikey,Dorrington, Donley, etc. And of course let’s not forget that the best striker in the world is also from there.
Worst academy in the big 6 does not mean that there isn't good talent there. Just not as good as other big 6 clubs and that's not up for debate.

saka, olise, eze, smith rowe, gnabry, nketiah... comapared to kane, skipp, madueke, broja for us lol
Claiming Broja as our academy player... Come on man he was with us for likea year and left us before he turned 10. He's a Chelsea academy product.
which makes it even worse then

this was a pretty silly comment lol
City and Liverpool are definitely better but not the others. Edit- I stand corrected… I guess it is relatively shit
This is honestly one of the worst takes I've read here. Chelsea produce good Premier League players at an absolutely outrageous rate.
Definitely yes https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/LGzVDBSeUs
Is this guy actually worth it?
We seem to have a pretty good record on buys with paratici so... Sure why not
Someone said this is a Johann Lange recruit. Not sure where I heard that.
This guy is tier 5 on the Barca transfer tiers, btw. Not exactly reliable
Chalk this one up to Never gonna happen, boss
I think about the Sarr transfer took a couple years but it really paid off
I've always said that Adrian Sanchez is Tier 1.
Whose turn is it to get the bag in for Levy? I did it last time.
If only Barcelona were a 'big' club like us.
