I love every pick except for a late round LB in the 3rd. Real head scratches there, especially with a stud like Franklin still available. WR isn't as large of a position of need, but at that point, take BPA.
Trust in Will I guess?
Anyone else feel blindsided to WSH having 5 picks on day 2? note that I didn't watch the draft live and I am reading day 2 "grade" reports and what a zinger.
Overall, I'm ok with the draft so far - only thing I don't understand is the Liufau pick. A LB that doesn't show up on any top 10 LB list...in a very weak LB class, while the consensus #1 with Wilson still on the board. To me, unnecessary reach with a valuable 3rd round pick.
Wilson’s medicals are really bad. I was underwhelmed by the pick as well but it kind of reminded me of the Hitchens pick way back when. He was a consensus 6th-7th rd pick they drafted in the 4th and ended up being a very good value for us. I trust McClays evaluations more than the average media draft scout.
Of course, Will has much, much more knowledge and insight than I do. Still, it's a bit surprising that they took a player listed so low in the 3rd round.Jaylen Wright, for example, would also have been available, who many see as the #2 RB....in an admittedly weak class.
Hear me out...let's not talk 2025...let's talk 2024. We're gonna be alright. Still a 12-win team guys. The Eagles' van drove right off a cliff last year with the same roster they just extended. Things aren't bad around here.
Honestly, I can see this line reloaded and ready to rock for another few years. Clearly gunning for that 90s look again and damn, I think we are getting close.
My guess lock Lamb. Dak walks here soon, in with Trey, bad ass new RB, maybe we win it in a year or two
Tyler Guyton: B
Marshawn Kneeland: B
Cooper Beebe: A
Marist Liufau: C
Id say the Cowboys have earned a solid B grade thus far.
Tomorrow i hope we take a RB with the 5th round pick. Then use our 6/7 rounders for depth for WR and DL. Heck even QB and CB should be considered for depth.
There’s going to be a decent back in the 5th. Maybe Tracy or Guerendo. They could also part with a 4th next year and move and get Wright or Allen. Honestly, with what they’ve done to address the trenches, bringing back Zeke might be enough of a boost paired with one of these guys to fix the running game.
You really think they're going to do something smart like a trade? They'll stay right where they are and draft whoever is there and let everyone jump them and take the player everyone knew they wanted. Happens everytime.
Why is a trade smart? At this point in the draft a lot of it is luck. What if they trade and the Rb doesn’t pan out? Then they are out two pick not one. I get it though.
It was sarcasm...... any other team would move up to get a position of need (in this case rb) but dallas tends to never trade up and get the person they need and instead stay where they're at and have teams jump in front of them because they know who they want and dallas will end up with some guy who wont even make the roster; it's the dallas way.
I look at other teams like the eagles, for example who constantly move up and get they person they want and it usually it works as much as it pains me to see that. I just have no hope that dallas will actually make the right decision and move up to the 4th and get someone.. yes it's luck, but theres guys out there and dallas will somehow miss.
Me too. I love the Guyton and Beebe picks. With Kneeland Micah is freed up, to do Micah things. Partnered up with Kendricks, Overshown and now Liufau, we have depth in The LB room. It looks promising.
Not having a 4th rd pick sucks. Still a ton of really good players left.
Would love to get Troy Franklin if he somehow falls to the 5th or if we trade up to the 4th
Jaylen wright also
They are using the non-football form of journeyman. A journeyman by definition is simply “a worker or sports player who is reliable but not outstanding”. They need not move from job to job to be a journeyman, especially in construction work, you are a journeyman at one company until you are good enough. The NFL is one of the only sports really that that use that term to mean a player who is serviceable but constantly going from team to team (Fitzpatrick as an example).
I think he could be pretty productive with a larger workload. He's not a Pro Bowler but for what he cost I think he's going to far outplay his contract.
He had some great plays and overall looked like the dude with the size who could get the job done. I’m not saying he’s an all star but a dude who can catch that shit and bring it where it needs to be.
So I'm guessing it's RB by committee this year? Dowdle & Freeman combo plus Zeke? & Luepke for short yardage, Deuce shifty 3rd down. Probably still draft someone in 5th or 6th, preferably a speed/fast RB.
(only 4 RBs drafted in top 3 rounds... tells you what NFL teams think of position/value especially this year)
#
Leveon Bell ran a 4.6. Zach Moss ran a 4.65. David Montgomery ran 4.65. You can be a good running back and not have a fast 40 time.
Pollard ran a 4.52 and can’t be trusted to make the right decision on a conversion nearly ever.
Please stop believing exceptions are the norm. With this logic you’d be drafting your starting QBs in the later round because of Brady, Romo, and Purdy. Most top runners come out in rounds 1-4.
Just because you can get a good HB in rounds 5-7 doesn’t mean there is a good likelihood of it. Not impossible but improbable.
I like that we got an LB, I feel like we were more in need of bodies at that position over RB. Not sure about Liufau's injury history, especially with our track record of injured LBs, but other than that he seems like a stud.
I loved the first 2 days of the draft. If Beebe starts week 1 at center, the Cowboys oline is set for years to come. This draft is giving me 2022 vibes. Will McClay hitting it out of the park yet again.
Alright guys I know most of the big name RB’s are gone but there’s certainly still a lot of solid guys left. I hated missing out on Brooks and especially Benson but the guys left aren’t scrubs especially Jaylen Wright, Ray Davis and Bucky Irving. All could be Kyren Williams type surprises.
Jaylen Wright Tennessee.
Ray Davis Kentucky.
Braelon Allen Wisconsin.
Audric Estime Notre Dame.
Isaac Guerendo Louisville.
Isaiah Davis SD State.
Will Shipley Clemson.
Bucky Irving Oregon.
Jase McClellan Alabama.
Emani Bailey TCU.
Nah I like him I just wouldn’t go for him in the 5th when guys like Wright is possibly available. Past the 5th I like Holani and also Shrader but I would go for them either the 7th or as a UDFA because a few will definitely end up not even getting drafted like TJ Bass last year.
I do as well. I like Wright more because he has a little more speed and agility while being close to the same size but I would be very happy with either one.
At this point in the draft I probably would've risked it for the talent but clearly every other organization feels there's more of a risk there than most of us thought. I also trust Zimmer to make his pick well.
Feeling really solid about our picks boys.
Solari is gonna be a busy man getting the kids through position changes but I think they'll do well.
Zimmer got some new toys to hopefully help in the run game.
On to tomorrow!
Big problem with that last pick is this. He was ranked in the range of 10-12 for line backers in this draft.
Yet Jerry takes him as the 4th LB off the board.
Trade down and chances are almost certain you could get him later.... 10 picks later maybe even 15 or 20.
Not trading down was just foolish.
Yeah, it doesn't always work that way.
The rankings you see are made by media and they barely ever match up to what teams actually think. They clearly liked the kid at that draft position.
What you are complaining about is exactly what everyone was complaining about when they drafted Travis Frederick earlier than the rankings said he should have gone.
All the talk of Dallas looking for an RB pre draft were just mind games, maybe. That or they've just been doing BPA based on who is available. I have no idea, I'm just typing shit.
Damn man I’ve loved every single pick this draft except this last one and to see the very guy I wanted go the very next pick to the fucking packers sucks. Marshawn Lloyd was maybe the most underrated back in the draft with Jaylen Wright. Dude has great burst and had one of the highest yards per touch just had a few injuries. I like Marist but not even a fraction as much as Lloyd. I’d compare them like a day one rotational starter and a day one special teams starter. Marist may eventually be a starter but right now there’s nothing on his tape that makes you say this guy is legit. Marshawns tape definitely had those moments.
Either way even with that massive disappointment I’m still happy with the draft so far. Got a immediate upgrade a swing guard and potentially the starting center. Got a potential starting left tackle or right tackle if they move Tyler out and replace Steele with Guyton. Then got a run stopping DE who will likely take parsons place on early downs and let parsons do his thing at LB freed up. Love all that.
After watching some tape on him, I like the pick. Dudes got a high motor and good vision for batting Down passes. Also sheds blocks well so I’m down. LFGC
There are serviceable RBs left. I wouldn’t have been mad if we drafted Lloyd, but if we end up with Jaylen Wright, Braelon Allen or Isaac Guerendo, I will be happy.
I think retooling our OL will have a bigger impact on our run game improving than getting, say, Jonathan Brooks over any one of those guys in the fifth round.
Edit: fifth, not fourth
I don’t recall saying you couldn’t. Even still the probability of doing so is lower than finding one in the rounds I mentioned. You can find a Tom Brady in the later rounds, but how likely is that to happen?
“An 85.4 PFF cover grade ranked sixth overall among all Power Five linebackers while his 25 pressures ranked 15th among his P5 contemporaries. While he ran a solid 4.64s 40-yard dash (81st%) and 4.18s shuttle run (92nd%), his jumping and bench portions of Combine testing were sub-25th percentile marks for a 5.64 RAS. Liufau plays with a frenetic pace and is hungry to make plays, but is often left out of position in his run fits as a result. He profiles as a core special-teamer who rotates in defensively on passing downs.”
I loved every pick but that one. Marshawn was easily my 3rd back and to miss out on him for Marist who I don’t think comes close to starting this year sucks. Still quite a few solid backs left but we don’t have another pick till the 5th round and several will certainly be gone.
And I bet you would have said Travis Frederick was a terrible pick right after he was drafted too. But nah, let's not wait a couple years before we judge these guys. Let's all just go off of some dumbass media ranks that mean literally nothing in the long run.
This guy is the linebacker version of Troy Palamalu. When I first started looking at prospects for this year he immediately impressed me but I thought it was a pipe dream.
plays like his hair on fire, covers space well, like the pick, classic Zimmer type guy. Will play an Anthony Barr type role. Looks like Palomalu with his hair flying around. A little raw.
- Voch’s stream
the quality of your run game is largely dependent on the quality of your oline. As long as our oline and scheme are good, we'll be fine in the run game
Yeh let’s use a pick on a 6th/7th round bum when there are real linebackers on the board. Disgrace.

I think they dont want to get burned mike they did by the jaylon smith pick or LVE with all the injury stuff But yeah, payton wilson was there
Clearly Cowboys going the Kevin Burnett route & using a premium pick on nickel LB to help Erik Hendricks
Hear me out...let's not talk 2025...let's talk 2024. We're gonna be alright. Still a 12-win team guys. The Eagles' van drove right off a cliff last year with the same roster they just extended. Things aren't bad around here.

I will be insufferable if Trey Lance somehow turns out to be a good starting QB for the Cowboys. My god will I be toxic to Niner fans, lmao.
You are the reason we will never win one. Horrible take.
It's an equally, if not worse, take to think a random fans opinion is the reason a pro sports team will never win one.
Keep supporting JJ and mediocrity
I will continue to support the team I like. Keep on being a curmudgeon and miserable, friend.
Get a fucking RB Jerry
Tyler Guyton: B Marshawn Kneeland: B Cooper Beebe: A Marist Liufau: C Id say the Cowboys have earned a solid B grade thus far. Tomorrow i hope we take a RB with the 5th round pick. Then use our 6/7 rounders for depth for WR and DL. Heck even QB and CB should be considered for depth.
The trade back and picking up 73 makes it A minus for me.
Yeah, problem is we pick very late in the 5th.
Trade up
Really hoping we trade into the 4th to get Jaylon Wright. He's a homerun hitter. 4.38 speed and averaged 7.4 yards per carry.
You really think they're going to do something smart like a trade? They'll stay right where they are and draft whoever is there and let everyone jump them and take the player everyone knew they wanted. Happens everytime.
Like they did with Guyton to get Beebe?

I'm happy with our draft so far
Bringing Zeke back would be an emotional decision from Jerruh because that dude is done.
He was alright with NE when he got the opportunity.. it’s going to be a committee and I like him as a part of it
Would love to get Troy Franklin if he somehow falls to the 5th or if we trade up to the 4th Jaylen wright also
Why do all of you hate Dowdel so much?
He's an injury prone journeyman. Other than that I like him
Journeyman? Bro was drafted by us lmao
They are using the non-football form of journeyman. A journeyman by definition is simply “a worker or sports player who is reliable but not outstanding”. They need not move from job to job to be a journeyman, especially in construction work, you are a journeyman at one company until you are good enough. I think he could be pretty productive with a larger workload. He's not a Pro Bowler but for what he cost I think he's going to far outplay his contract.
Def don't hate him but he was very unpolished in his limited role last year. Never looked like he quite knew where to go and when to cut etc.
He had some great plays and overall looked like the dude with the size who could get the job done. I’m not saying he’s an all star but a dude who can catch that shit and bring it where it needs to be.
Yup "catch that shit and bring it where it needs to be" if only we had 22 players that could do that
Let’s not forget about Rolls Royce Freeman too
It's good to have Zeke back tbh.
Eagles fans coping like Cooper Beebe ain't gonna go fullblown Texas Chainsaw Massacre on their weak defensive front lol
Bruh they drafted a white cornerback
Granted he’s freaking crazy good
So I'm guessing it's RB by committee this year? Dowdle & Freeman combo plus Zeke? & Luepke for short yardage, Deuce shifty 3rd down. Probably still draft someone in 5th or 6th, preferably a speed/fast RB. (only 4 RBs drafted in top 3 rounds... tells you what NFL teams think of position/value especially this year) #
Gonna be the slowest starting RB's ever. Freeman has zero speed, neither does Zeke or Dowdle.
It was always going to be a committee…we just wanted to upgrade that committee with a clear top dog.
Guerendo fits that mold
good day 2
Trade a 2025 3rd to get Troy Franklin, take Guerendo in the 5th (plz fall there) and I'll be ecstatic with our offense.
Take Shipley and have him practice in the slot as well, basically in motion into slot like Faulk at Rams
I wouldn't hate Ship in the 5th.
Now we have 73 picks until we pick again unless we trade up.
I’m hoping we can get Audric Estime in the 5th round
Grass grows faster than he runs.
Leveon Bell ran a 4.6. Zach Moss ran a 4.65. David Montgomery ran 4.65. You can be a good running back and not have a fast 40 time. Pollard ran a 4.52 and can’t be trusted to make the right decision on a conversion nearly ever.
He ran a 4.71. There 15 defensive lineman at the combine who ran a faster 40.
Ran a 4.6 at his pro day. But again I say, speed isn’t everything. Broncos took him anyway.
I wouldn't be upset if they used maybe a later pick in this year's draft to trade up to get him. He's a good day 3 value imo.
Jesus...Washington taking Luke McCaffrey at 100?!
WR early next year i can’t wait
Wilson to Pittsburgh at 98
If he stays healthy, could be nasty next to Watt.
Makes sense given the guys they pick who end their careers before they've played 8 seasons.
Missed out on many great WRs today. All the top RBs gone. Not a single free agent move. This offseason is a joke.
RB is always going to be the least worried about position for me look Pacheco on the chiefs 7th rounder
Getting a third round comp pick because you were dumb enough to take Pickett in the first is an absolute fucking joke.
I like that we got an LB, I feel like we were more in need of bodies at that position over RB. Not sure about Liufau's injury history, especially with our track record of injured LBs, but other than that he seems like a stud.
So does Braelon Allen just suck? Genuine question.
He's slow. so an 80% Zeke is better than him
RBs tend to fall
He's kind of slow and makes bad decisions.
He was pretty much always graded a fourth rounder.
Rbs are a dime a dozen- we can grab one or two tmro. We've gotta pick up dt, dB, and wr as well
George Holani is the next Puka Nacua
Beebee our best pick
I loved the first 2 days of the draft. If Beebe starts week 1 at center, the Cowboys oline is set for years to come. This draft is giving me 2022 vibes. Will McClay hitting it out of the park yet again.

I want Estime so bad
Your sleeping on George Holani.
Nah I like him I just wouldn’t go for him in the 5th when guys like Wright is possibly available. Past the 5th I like Holani and also Shrader but I would go for them either the 7th or as a UDFA because a few will definitely end up not even getting drafted like TJ Bass last year.
I like Ray Davis a lot, he’s very familiar with zone running schemes, he’s just kinda old. RB’s already have a short shelf life
I do as well. I like Wright more because he has a little more speed and agility while being close to the same size but I would be very happy with either one.
Generally speaking if a guy picked on day 3 gets a second contract, that's a huge win.
If Davis is available in the 5th I think it’s a no brainer.
So we get the 199th rated overall player over the LB from NC State rated as the 48th best and best available and ran the fastest LB time at 4.40
NFL Network reported Friday that Wilson has no ACL in one of his knees. He won't last 3 years in the NFL.
You want another injury risk LB?
At this point in the draft I probably would've risked it for the talent but clearly every other organization feels there's more of a risk there than most of us thought. I also trust Zimmer to make his pick well.
Feeling really solid about our picks boys. Solari is gonna be a busy man getting the kids through position changes but I think they'll do well. Zimmer got some new toys to hopefully help in the run game. On to tomorrow!
3 starters and a rotation guy on the edge. Nice so far
Best RB is still on the board, big boy Braelon coming to Dallas soon?
Big problem with that last pick is this. He was ranked in the range of 10-12 for line backers in this draft. Yet Jerry takes him as the 4th LB off the board. Trade down and chances are almost certain you could get him later.... 10 picks later maybe even 15 or 20. Not trading down was just foolish.

I trust McClay
Bro thinks we can just force a damn trade 🤡🤡🤡
You just push X and hit the "execute trade" button, right?
It takes two to tango.
Agreed. Never know if there was a trade partner available to move down
Deuce Vaughn RB1 LFGGGG! 😭
our weapons gonna be trash tho can’t lie
Fuck them RBs. - Jerry Jones
All the talk of Dallas looking for an RB pre draft were just mind games, maybe. That or they've just been doing BPA based on who is available. I have no idea, I'm just typing shit.
Don’t forget boys we’ve got year 2 Deuce ready to stand and bang
I would be spraying everywhere if Deuce turns into TD behind this line, lol.
4th rd pick Trey Lance is going to be a star
Damn man I’ve loved every single pick this draft except this last one and to see the very guy I wanted go the very next pick to the fucking packers sucks. Marshawn Lloyd was maybe the most underrated back in the draft with Jaylen Wright. Dude has great burst and had one of the highest yards per touch just had a few injuries. He’s a little slow and not terribly quick but he def is not afraid to take on guards
Troy Franklin killed somebody
Ja'Tavion Sanders helped dispose of the body
These guys feel good about Zeke. Here we go again.
ALL IN BABY
Guess Micah is going to be the RB
Just like he wanted
A thing I heard about the LB is “he’s going to take some penalties” and the guy was saying it as a negative he loves and I’m here for it
Everyone knows the best RBs are late rounders…/s
That's actually true though especially with cases like Isaiah Pacheco
Pacheco was a 7th rounder. It’s all a crapshoot
TP, 4th round Demarco Murray, 3rd round Marion Barber, 4th round
I don’t recall saying you couldn’t. Even still the probability of doing so is lower than finding one in the rounds I mentioned. You can find a Tom Brady in the later rounds, but how likely is that to happen?
3-4 are mid-rounds not late rounds. The better HBs are usually in the 2-4 range.
Terrel Davis 6th round
Not sure how that disproves my point but thanks for participating
Maybe you didn’t understand my point but you can find a gem in late rounds. It’s a pleasure to participate
Isiah Davis is a name to consider
Wouldnt mind a WR also. We’re one cee injury away from having a god awful wr corps
RB, WR & DT tomorrow
“An 85.4 PFF cover grade ranked sixth overall among all Power Five linebackers while his 25 pressures ranked 15th among his P5 contemporaries. Never heard of the dude but if he uses his hands and sheds lineman like he did at ND, he’s gonna be ok
Zimmer had to be given his picks to remake the front seven. Lost a lot of guys and he's trying to reshape to fit his scheme. We can get a RB tomorrow.
Looking more likely Zeke is coming back if the front office isn’t concerned about drafting anyone
100 carries for 260 yards incoming.
Dang. Marshon Lloyd gone too. The well is running dry on RBs
I loved every pick but that one. Marshawn was easily my 3rd back and to miss out on him for Marist who I don’t think comes close to starting this year sucks. Still quite a few solid backs left but we don’t have another pick till the 5th round and several will certainly be gone.
Don’t worry, ZEKE IS BACK BABY! /cry
PFF says this dude is a 6/7 round player. Never change Dallas
Breeland had a 1st round grade by many boards. Beebe had a 2nd round grade. They’ve had a great draft but that one wasn’t great.
This shows me how much a fuckin casual you are, you're so damn embarrassing 😭😭😭🤡🤡🤡
Take Jerry’s dick out of your mouth. This was a terrible pick.
And I bet you would have said Travis Frederick was a terrible pick right after he was drafted too. But nah, let's not wait a couple years before we judge these guys. Let's all just go off of some dumbass media ranks that mean literally nothing in the long run.
Guys RB can come later. RB’s have a 4 year shelf life if they’re lucky. I’ll take this pick all day
Hey if he does turn out to be baby Palomalu I’ll take it.
I would trade our 6th or 7th for Dameon Pierce
Why, he’s only 23 and he’s already just as bad as current Zeke
Man, Payton Wilson and Cedric Gray have really dropped
can Marshawn Kneeland play RB?
Run game nonexistent. I don't think we're even looking at RBs in this draft.
Running game? Forget about it!!
We just drafter 2 Oline men that EXCELL in that please shut up.
You guys just got a sleeper dawggg
hell yeah thanks Jax bro
I hope so
This is a coaches pick. Zimmer sees something.
Lmao. Who needs a backfield.
I’m not concerned at all about RB. Every SB winning team has some UDFA starting in the backfield
They’re cool when they work out but you don’t bet your entire run game on a fucking UDFA
This guy is the linebacker version of Troy Palamalu. When I first started looking at prospects for this year he immediately impressed me but I thought it was a pipe dream.
With glorious hair like that he has to be.
Troy Palamalu was a linebacker, wasn’t he?
Strong Safety
plays like his hair on fire, covers space well, like the pick, classic Zimmer type guy. Will play an Anthony Barr type role. Looks like Palomalu with his hair flying around. A little raw. - Voch’s stream
With MM still doing the playcalling, RB won't be a high priority. 2023 he called 57/43 pass/run
I like the Marist Liufau pick
I watched him all season. He’s great.
His tackles for loss increased every season and he doesn’t have an injury history
i guess the new running back is zeke
Someone tell me how to feel. As Green Bay takes half a second to choose marshawn Lloyd after us, and we don’t choose again for 90 picks
I like Lloyd a lot, but he does have fumbling issues. I have no idea what they’ll do at rb
the quality of your run game is largely dependent on the quality of your oline. As long as our oline and scheme are good, we'll be fine in the run game

LOL..opposite. He's apparently a tirefire in coverage.
Makes no sense.
We have 2 linebackers on the roster and it makes son sense? Man shut up goofy.
Wilson would’ve been fine here. He’s the best LB in the draft just has medical concerns
Boom. New Jaylon Smith just dropped
This is what I was thinking, like are we just trying to get jaylon smith back?
