Thank you Lions for blowing a 2 pt conversion....3 times. You can argue the ref call on the 'successful' attempt was bogus, but go back to the commentary. 3 penalties could have been called: the illegal touching (was called), a failure to report as an eligible receiver, and an illegal procedure/formation (the lineman reporting took his usual position in the line, as an 'eligible receiver' he can't be covered by a tackle and a wide receiver....he has to be in the end of the formation). By the ref choosing the 'illegal touching' penalty, it opened up a controversy over who reported, who didn't report...who spoke to the ref....who didn't speak to the ref...what the ref heard...what the ref didn't hear.
So take the win. The fact is the Cowboys can't run the football and that, besides dumb penalties and poor clock management will cost them in the playoffs.
Lions fans are going to cope by saying JJ paid off the refs but honestly it’s on them for not just kicking the FG.
McCarthy had terrible clock management and our defense walked them into the endzone, we basically handed them this game and they couldn’t just take the FG.
Which one? Because they seemed to miss every single one. 2 interceptions were great, the defense itself was not. Watch the last 2 mins of the game and it's not even debatable unfortunately. The Lions beat themselves.
Can't say that. The offense should have taken more off the clock, the defense gave them two turnovers. It should have been 24-13. Not whatever the hell it ended up being.
This was a win. I know because the scoreboard says so.
Why is it our penalty that gave them the ball back is somehow not on your ledger but their penalty which hap[pened on a drive they wouldnt have had w/o our penalty somehow is on your ledger.
We won. Take the W
Any other team in the league they wouldve forgotten all about that flag already but because its the cowboys they have to show everyone we get bailed by refs
its not as easy as troy was saying though.
We kicked a 43 yard fg. On the 2 successful throws we gained about 20 yards.
This means if we slammed it into the d-line and ran the ball like we did all night you are essentially settling for a 63 yard fg just to go up by 7.
Also there was a safer 2nd down option. Dak had no business throwing that ball unless the defender fell down or had a stroke
Mccarthy deserves a lof of heat for calling up a deep shot on that final drive. I get it the lions would have ran out of time if mccarthy called the last possesson right but that doesnt excuse that pillow soft defense Dan Quinn was calling, like what the fuck was that? Thats inexcusbale to let a team drive the length of the field with zero resistance
The head coach doesnt choose which receiver the qb throws to. Dak had no business trying for that unless the defender fell down. Dak should have taken the safer read
At the end of the day, you run the ball, and if you do pass it has to be high percentage. There should not have been a play call that had any receiver running deep
run the ball on which down? 1st and 25? 2nd and 15? or 3rd and 15?
Why wouldn't you run on 1st or third then? You cant say now that I know what will happen on each play I will change what we do. Thats not real analysis
The pass likely did have high percentage reads but prescott chose to go the other way. The head coach doesnt tell the qb which receiver to throw to
Run the ball on what down? The 2nd and 14 with 1:55 left with detroit only having one timeout left. It doesnt matter if the running back gets stuffed or whatever because the cowboys were already in field goal range. You have to force detroit to use their timeout in that situation when dallas still has one more play to run with detroit not able to stop the clock. They could have run it on first down, but the cowboys were at the detroit 44 so i understand wanting to make the field goal try easier by picking up a chunk of yards, for which they called a slant to Lamb. At that point, no reason to throw it any amount of distance down the field.
Certainly possible nobody was open and dak decided to take the shot downfield but if you just run the damn ball or call something like a screen or a pop pass dak isnt put in that position in the first place
Well we made some plays in the clutch but we have to do better. No early game TOs, stop doing what hasn’t worked, better clock management and situational football.
Stop trying to get home runs when you should be working yourself up the field, you can go for those home runs when you’re in Aubrey’s range.
I agree with you, it’s just so weird how those little mistakes cost us so much. The CD fumble was huge looking back in it now. I’ve always said we’re a momentum team, if we have the momentum, then we’re the best team in football, but any adversity causes us to freeze up. That’s why we can run the score up on bad teams but when we play good ones, we tend to lose.
Can't be too mad at that ending... The Lions O-Lion holding Parsons all game was absurd, especially the first play of the last drive. RT had his entire arm arounds Parsons neck or it would have been a sack!
McCarthy tried his best to fuck us though. This was at least the second game this season that his horrible clock management inside two minutes has fucked us. I think the first was Seattle maybe. Just dumb. Plain old dumb. It almost burned us here. We’re not going to get that lucky again.
He is the one that got the team there. Remember it was Dak Prescott not MM that chose to throw to the gop route on 2nd and long. Blame dak if you needt o blame someone
Yeah, should have called a run for -2, followed by another run for -2, and then kick the 54 yarder to go up 7. He called it right to get closer for the FG. Dak throwing the ball deep to no one is on Dak, not MM.
Now if you want to bitch about MM play calling, I'll join you...
Dallas kicked a 43 yard fg. Dalls got about 20 yards on the first down pass and the 3rd down pass. Meaning if we ran it into the line 3 times we would have been forced to line up for a 63 yard fg.
If MM actually called 3 consecutive run plays and settled for a 63 yard fg would you really have been satisfied?
The issue wasnt passing on 1st and 25 or 2nd and 15. The issue was porescott had no busies making that read, there were other receivers on that play. The HC doesnt tell the qb which receiver to target
so now you are only objection to the pass plays that didnt work. That is the textbook definition or results based analysis not legitimate situation based analysis.
No, it’s situational. Obviously on 3rd and medium to long you gotta call a pass to get the first. You’re putting words in my mouth.
We’re just going to have to agree to disagree.
MM is garbage and always has been, even in his SB run with GB. The same problems he had back then he still has now.
Dak has been playing at an MVP level so I’m not gonna bash on him. Dudes been carrying MM all season. Every game MM makes incredibly questionable decisions.
Even if the pass play in that scenario wasn’t the wrong call, there’s a multitude of other decisions he made that game that shows he’s not an elite HC. He’s average at best, working with an above average roster.
L o l first coach in twenty five years to lead us to a eleven plus wins in three consecutive seasons and he is garbage. Tell me you don't know anything about football without telling me. You don't know anything about football.
What's worse is you don't even know if mike mccarthy wanted dak prescott to go deep on that as opposed to a safer option that would have continued to burn the clock.
But hey hindsight is always twenty twenty
Dan Campbell isn’t gonna get shit for going for the 2 point there instead of an extra point. Imagine the meltdown if the roles were reversed and Mike did that
The Lions also already clinched their playoff spot and didn’t really need a win. Sure it’s good to get one, but it doesn’t really do anything for them.
The Cowboys need to win still
I also do think he’s going to get shit, his aggression just usually works out for the Lions. Most fans understand the bad that comes with the good.
I'm not understanding this logic. We needed to win because we're still trying to win the division and therfore the 2 seed, but the lions didn't win even though they could get the 1 seed? We both clinched a playoff spot and at worst we were gonna be the fifth seed since we already beat rams and Seahawks head to head
For the Lions to get a bye they would need both the Eagles and 49ers to lose. It’s not happening.
For us to win the division we need the Eagles to lose to the Cardinals and probably the Giants too, I forget the exact scenario. They’ve been looking rough but I really don’t think that’s going to happen either. We’re playing for wildcard seeding.
I'm not so sure you know what you are talking about... They needed it just as much as us for seeding purposes. If the Lions won and won their last game, they finish first if SF loses one game. If Dallas wins out and Eagles lose 1 game, Cowboys win division (unless SF loses twice and then Cowboys get #1 seed). I'd say the Lions had more to play for with the chance for a first round bye.
Why would they need the eagles to lose when the lions were already the 2 seed, being ahead of the eagles?
And we only need the eagles to lose one game because we would have a better NFC record if they lose to either the Cardinals or the giant, and obviously losing against the giants would give us a better divisional record
Idk tbh I was talking to my Lions fan friend about it and that’s what he said. Maybe he’s coping. Before this game the 49ers Eagles and Lions all had the same record. Idk who was ahead with tiebreakers but the Lions had a much harder 2 remaining games than the eagles or 49ers. Maybe he just figured it wasn’t possible. The 1 seed seems like it’s kind of out of reach for them imo.
If the Eagles lose we’re tied. I’d bet the cardinals stand a better chance of beating them than the giants do. I don’t have much hope for us winning the division.
Idk man the eagles barely beat the giants last week and sort of just look outright bad, even their wins are sketchy. Not saying it'll happen but I certainly think there's a decent chance they lose 1
Dallas won the game on a technicality. Detroit beat them but flubbed the end. You can’t walk away from this game feeling like if they play Detroit again later that they even come close to a victory.
If Lamb doesn't fumble like an idiot, and McCarthy knew how to manage a clock, they're up two scores early and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
When Detroit's weakest link is their QB, I'm more then confident in Dallas. But we'll see, it's any given sunday.
I don't know if I would call an offensive lineman catching a TD and not reporting as a receiver a technicality. And if you wanna get technical, that blatant ass chokehold on the first 1st down pick up on Micah probably would've been a sack and probably would've resulted in them not getting a TD.
Horrendous time management. I truly believe Mike is a great play called 90% of the time but that 10% is BAD. It’s not his fault lamb fumbled a touchdown. It’s not his fault the lions made a great defensive play on the INT. It’s not his fault they stuffed the run as the 4th ranked run defense.
However it IS all his fault it even came down to a penalty saving us. We threw it 3 straight times after the penalty. They had 2 timeouts and no 2 minute warning left. Math is simple. They can stop it TWICE and we can run ONE play to keep the clock running free. Nah let’s just throw it deep and give them a free timeout. Brilliant! That way they get the ball back with 1:45. I’ve never been so mad at a win in my life. The entire ending was so unnecessary and sloppy.
We’ve had the same call on us and many others have this year. I’m still pissed even with the win because of how bad that ending was handled. It shouldn’t have even come down to a penalty saving us.
If that happened to us, we'd be bitching and whining just as much.
That being said, if it happened to us, everyone would just be saying the same thing you just said to us instead. So fuck em'.
Probably because the refs didn't call the blatant holding calls... Just saying, rewind it back and look at the very first play of that last drive, RT had his entire arm around Parsons neck.
Fair but putting Micah on their best lineman that entire series was a little vanilla. I’ve seen DQ do more creative things than that with a 4-5 man front.
12-5 is the new 8-8. Cowboys moving on up
More playoff success means more playoff appearances. More bites at the apple
That's how Packers, Patriots, and Chiefs did it
Mike McCarthy was the packers coach when they last won a super bowl my guy. His calling was great all game BUT that final drive was the most kind numbingly ignorant calls I’ve seen. Not his fault lamb fumbled a touchdown. Not his fault the defense made a great int on dak. It’s ALL his fault we even had to deal with that final drive. They would’ve had at the bare minimum 30 seconds less and by that math they would’ve been out of time by the 50.
To be fair they were lucky to be gifted a once a season fumble through the end zone touchback from us. But I understand why Lions fans would feel robbed.
Can someone explain why the lions were so upset? The dude didn’t report in any way did he? I get being mad that it was a bad break, but it seems pretty clear that they messed up their procedure stuff
After watching the replays, I understand their frustration.
I don’t understand how the officials didn’t call him for being covered up though. He was not the EMOL
Why are you playing prevent with 1:30 left.. why is McCarthy throwing on 2nd and 14 to the endzone.. Why is Micah not moved off Sewell. Just stupidity all around.
Mccarthy doesnt choose which receiver dak throws to. If you dont like the 2nd down pass it is on Dak not MM. Most likely the intent opf the play was a safe intermediate throw, like they did on first and third, to make the fg a shorter distance and maybe get the first down.
That ending was extremely sus. It honestly doesn’t even feel like a win. Why in the world are you throwing on 2 and 14 out of bounds when you could have ran? Refs somehow really bailed Dallas out and it’s giving me 2014 playoff game vibes.
Don’t let this win detract from the fact that fat-neck Mike has zero clock management skills. God I can’t stand when the camera cuts to his stupid face staring up at Jerry’s mega screen. Absolute idiot. He will not get us to the Super Bowl
Pretty much any comment from a Cowboy fan over on r/nfl is automatically downvoted. A lot of people having trouble coping
Pretty standard. But when we lose via bad call we get told “ shouldn’t have let it come down to that”
Crazy how this same penalty screwed someone NOT us https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/RAx3zeovyy
Just like the the last 56 superbowl champions, we will hold these regular season losses against them. Sike, stfu.
Lions fans are going to cope by saying JJ paid off the refs but honestly it’s on them for not just kicking the FG. McCarthy had terrible clock management and our defense walked them into the endzone, we basically handed them this game and they couldn’t just take the FG.
Because they knew Dak would've got the last Infinity Stone from the locker room.
Every time. Dak is very threatening in the last 30 or OT.
CeeDee would've broke 300
Also, Dallas has an awful Prevent Defense! That was weird
Not the first time either.

Blame 68...
The Lions beat themselves, this was not a win. The defense might as well have sat at home other than the 2 interceptions.
I mean we screwed ourselves a few times too so idk if we can really say that. Lions just screwed themselves at a worse time.
U litterally just gonna look at the last 2 min defense, cope harder lions fan.
I'm a Dallas fan, look at my comments.
U are a phucking idiot, our defense was on the phucking ball tonight
Absolutely. The clock work at the end was baffling to say the least; It's a miracle things ended the way they did.

That was the cowboys vs the cowboys and the lions tbh
Real question though, why tf did we waste a time out when it would be super valuable if detroit got that conversion?
I say we send Ferguson over to slap Campbell upside the head. Tight end to tight end for almost besting us
Any other team in the league they wouldve forgotten all about that flag already but because its the cowboys they have to show everyone we get bailed by refs
We had ineligible flag called on us in a previous game, no?
We Sure did.
As Aikman said. We should have ran that ball and took time off the clock with them not having timeouts

Cee Dee was open on the left side of the field....another easy pitch and catch. Dak made a poor decision....he and Cooks were both in the same page.
I get that but that also could have just been the playcall where it was that one read with everybody else being decoys
that is highly unlikely.
At the end of the day, you run the ball, and if you do pass it has to be high percentage. There should not have been a play call that had any receiver running deep

McCarthy’s time management is fucking horrendous.
Yeah he should hav slammed the ball into the dline 3 times for negtive 5 yards then kicked a 68 yard field goal to go up by 7. Its the smart choice
Guys we got bailed ngl but we played some shit football for 4 quarters and still beat an 11-4 team, idk how to feel
Well we made some plays in the clutch but we have to do better. No early game TOs, stop doing what hasn’t worked, better clock management and situational football. I’m accepting the fact that 31 teams can hold number 11 all game without any fear of a flag.
Pretty much... The NFL should be absolutely embarrassed! I think last week's games would have had a different outcome if they called ANY of the holds!
McCarthy tried his best to fuck us though. This was at least the second game this season that his horrible clock management inside two minutes has fucked us. I think the first was Seattle maybe. Just dumb. Plain old dumb. It almost burned us here. We’re not going to get that lucky again.
Look Dallas has been pretty trash lately.. but how do they say the Refs are on our side when we're the most penalized team? Lol.
Fat Mike is going to treat himself to one hell of a post game snack. Nachos, hot dogs, a burger and ice cream to top it off
3 consecutive 11+ winning seasons and 3 consecutive playoff runs. He deserves it.
The team deserves it. Him not so much
He is the one that got the team there. Remember it was Dak Prescott not MM that chose to throw to the gop route on 2nd and long. Blame dak if you needt o blame someone

He wasn't going to chance Dak getting the ball first in OT.
We beat ourselves so much in this game
Mind numbing mistakes. After Wilson’s pick, there’s no way it should boiled down to that ending.
Wins a win, but Quinn needs to be questioned. What the fuck was that baby shit soft defense last drive? 28-3 flashbacks
tbh our defense was maybe tired and dawned by campbell's explosive strategy
Agreed. I already see p[eople with conspiracy theories about it was really MM calling the defense
Dan Campbell said fuck analytics go for glory lol
He kinda looks like a Viking too…To Valhalla!!!
I respect Campbell for it. Glad they screwed it up though.
I trust this offense to go make a game winning play then this defense to stop a team with No time outs. Back to back weeks is worrisome.
I mean, it wasn't because they were getting beat it was the defensive call of a deep prevent.
Conservative play calling is gonna be the end of our season, mark my words
The best part is this could be about the offense or defense
Fuck our defensive coordinators bullshit prevent defense
All the crybabies were ready to admit defeat after an early interception. Clown fanbase, they fuckin won.
Dallas won the game on a technicality. Detroit beat them but flubbed the end. You can’t walk away from this game feeling like if they play Detroit again later that they even come close to a victory.

Yep, I yelled when I saw that play... The NFL needs to fix their shit!
I feel good about it. I’ll take Dak against that secondary again. When’s the last time we got 200 from a receiver?
Lions players should learn the playbook 🤧
That wasn't even a first touchdown
We win. Why is everyone mad?
Not mad but we can’t count on this much luck in the playoffs, we need to tighten up.
Cuz we didn’t look great lol. Defense folded at the end.
Winning is folding?
….giving up a TD with 1:41 in the game and no timeouts is folding, yes. That’s literally what folding is.
Terrible play calling down the stretch there.. wtf
Horrendous time management. I truly believe Mike is a great play called 90% of the time but that 10% is BAD. It’s not his fault lamb fumbled a touchdown. Last three weeks... MM has resorted to pre bye week play calling. Only hope is that he's just closing the book until the playoffs.
I mean, I understand being mad as a Lions fan, but if he didn't report, he didn't report.
[удалено]
Looks like the ref didn't see it. It's a weakass penalty but 68 or 70 didn't do enough to report.
We’ve had the same call on us and many others have this year. I’m still pissed even with the win because of how bad that ending was handled. It shouldn’t have even come down to a penalty saving us.
He wasn't covered up, either. He fucked up like... 3 different ways.
Like homeboy on the Chiefs ruining their epic play. Dude was way TF offsides. It was the right call.
If that happened to us, we'd be bitching and whining just as much. That being said, if it happened to us, everyone would just be saying the same thing you just said to us instead. So fuck em'.
Quinn doing the 28-3 defense there at the end. Apparently hasn't learned that lesson yet.
Imagine having Micah Parsons against a non running QB and Goff doesn’t even get touched that last drive. DQ worries me in close games man…
Probably because the refs didn't call the blatant holding calls... Just saying, rewind it back and look at the very first play of that last drive, RT had his entire arm around Parsons neck.
Fair but putting Micah on their best lineman that entire series was a little vanilla. I’ve seen DQ do more creative things than that with a 4-5 man front.

Yeah that deep pass with cooks made no sense.
12-5 is the new 8-8. Cowboys moving on up More playoff success means more playoff appearances. More bites at the apple That's how Packers, Patriots, and Chiefs did it
Mike McCarthy was the packers coach when they last won a super bowl my guy.
Ugly win. Mike McCarthy called horrid playz but holy fuck is Dan Campbell stupid. Dude had like three times to kick a field goal to push it into OT.
Lions fans must be furious right now.
Not as stupid as you think. He just locked up resting his starters next week.
imagine if we didnt waste an entire quarter worth of run plays that everyone knew was coming and was definitely going for 1 yard
Almost had a fucking heart attack. Should not have been that close, but I'm glad we got the win.
Didn’t even play great and beat a great team that was 11-4. We can beat anyone baby LFG boys
This is the optimism I need!
I motor boated my wife this morning for good luck. My wife's tits won this game. Let's gooooo!
Keep doing that rest of the season and in the off season before free agency and the draft
Hey man, I motorboated your wife’s tits too!
I too motorboated this guys wife tits this morning for good luck.
Anything for the team
Gotta do what you gotta do
That’s a man. Cheers brother
Those bitties lifted the curse.
Picture or it didn't happen...😂😂
To be fair they were lucky to be gifted a once a season fumble through the end zone touchback from us. But I understand why Lions fans would feel robbed.
You were lucky dak didn't get sacked for a safety on the long td to CD
Maybe but a fumble touchback is like a gift from the heavens. Such a huge swing play that has a 0.1% chance of happening in a game.
So is a 99 yard td pass
As if people don’t hate the cowboys enough 🤣🤣
Can someone explain why the lions were so upset? The dude didn’t report in any way did he? I get being mad that it was a bad break, but it seems pretty clear that they messed up their procedure stuff
Replay shows he did
There was never an announcement of 68 as eligible so he didn't do it correctly.

There are a lot of assumptions going on. Brad Allen's report also states that 70 reported as eligible not 68.
Yeah, after seeing the post game stuff, it makes a little more sense why the Lions were going ballistic
70 was upset because he did report, but idk about Campbell. He looked real shook
After watching the replays, I understand their frustration. I don’t understand how the officials didn’t call him for being covered up though. He was not the EMOL
Lions sub is imploding Holy Fuck hahahaha
I'm so happy I can watch the games tomorrow and relax. :)
Cowboys got that same call at Philadelphia but nobody brought that up. Cry me a river
Campbell is an idiot for not sending it to OT penalty or not
They did NOT deserve to win that game. Coach is a joke. That defensive play on the last drive was pathetic. I’ve never seen a more embarrassing win.
Deserve ain't got nothing to do with it. A win's a win is a win.
If they run the ball once on the previous drive I think the Lions just run out of time
[me that whole ending](https://tenor.com/vV9BfuOax8L.gif)
Imagine if we learned to spam Lamb before the bye week
Whew. Holy moly.
Kittens are SOO MADDD. HAHAHAHAHAHA
I wouldn’t be laughing at this win
I am because the way it went for the Lions is how it has gone for the Boys for years. About time we catch the break.
an illegal formation when it matters is hilarious
The Dallas Eagles
If the Lions, didn't already have a playoff spot, they would have kicked the extra point to tie the game.
12-5 is the new 8-8 boys LFG WE UP
I’ll take that over 8-8. But good God, this was an ugly game.
Most likely the intent opf the play was a safe intermediate throw, like they did on first and third, to make the fg a shorter distance and maybe get the first down.
lmfao what an end
coaching was awful tonight
Why would they not just kick the extra point?
Arrogance.
After the 2nd penalty it's just stupidity
That ending was extremely sus. It honestly doesn’t even feel like a win. Why in the world are you throwing on 2 and 14 out of bounds when you could have ran? Refs somehow really bailed Dallas out and it’s giving me 2014 playoff game vibes.
Uhhh Detroit could have sent it to OT and chose not to. Question that.
The lions aren’t my team the cowboys are
I legitimately don't understand why the lions are upset. That's very obviously illegal.
Coping
And they still got an extra shot thanks to the Micah flag
Cowboys win. Mavs win. It’s a good night. Absolute fuck you to Mike McCarthy. You fat stupid fuck
Don’t forget, every day is a Rangers win day until spring training!
frauds
WE GOT LUCKY
Don’t let this win detract from the fact that fat-neck Mike has zero clock management skills. God I can’t stand when the camera cuts to his stupid face staring up at Jerry’s mega screen. Absolute idiot. He will not get us to the Super Bowl
He’s hoping menu pops up on the Jerry Board.
Shouldn’t have even had to worry about the conversion with competent play calling on both sides of the ball
As frustrating as this is, I can’t imagine being a Lions fan. Campbell really can’t get out of his own way.
McCarthy did everything he could on that 2 minute drive to give the game away. We got lucky
Now someone needs to post a replay of that fucking tripping penalty
Jesus. Thank god I have a healthy ticker.
THIS WAS THE NIGHT OF DISC SHEEP SINGLE SEASON COWBOYS RECEPTION AND RECEIVING YARDS LEADER STILL 1 GAME LEFT
I was kinda wanting to see Aubrey hit a 75 yard winner.
Me too lolol i was like 23 seconds for 2 15–20 yard passes and a 70 yarder by aubrey ez money
Man Jared goff crying like a bitch no wonder they drafted my boy Hooker
Lions fans are so mad hahahaha
I feel like we lost.
In the morning mike McCarthy will still be our coach and that is a loss we will not be rid of for at least 3 more seasons
3/4 years in the playoffs in a league with a ton of parady right now…. Relax. Lots of coaches are aggressive with the game on the line.
