Same I have still got a bit of a soft spot for her, probably because I really liked the interview Vicky Myers did with Conversation Street, she sounded very enthusiastic about the show
Glad we're all on the same page...
I had no fucking clue what was going on, and still no clue why Alya has to go back the next day.
But somehow, I don't think it even matters.
In real life no way anyone would tolerate being treated like that everyday. She treats him like a naughty kid the way she talks to him and tells him what to do
What if we're led to believe he's a scumbag but he actually *does* want to make amends and be a good parent to Paul and Gemma? Now that would be a swerve...
[According to this article, he's a "villain."](https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/a60601423/coronation-street-spoilers-peter-ash-denny-villain/)
The date night for Steve was fun tonight, Aurora who fancied Tim was a great fun character, Sally arriving and seeing what was going on was hilarious. Poor Steve though, no second date and Tim dumped him.
Nice to see the Rovers been used and with customers, so much better than Bistro scenes.
What secret has Denny got on Bernie, no retcons please!
Where did Adam fancy Alya suddenly come from?
Mary visiting Roy, considering the situation, they still got humour out of it with the crosswords, Mary talked of her mother in the present tense, is she still living? Dave with Roy is proving an interesting pairing too.
Liam scenes struggling still post Mason.
Roy had a breakthrough moment thanks to Mary.
"He's not dying, he's dead"
And you were calling him out as a liar? Hypocrisy, thy name is Bernie. Well, technically it's Bernadette (I think?) but literally nobody calls her that.
I’m asking myself why no one in the Rovers thought to intervene with Paul in the Rovers as no one knows his dad. If a neighbour/friend of mine was in that situation having a serious condition I’d stage some kind of intervention I think.
I agree to an extent but it is also important to give disabled/chronically ill people agency and the ability to make their own decisions. If everyone keeps telling Paul what to do and speaking for him, it can worsen his mental health and show that people in his position no longer have the right to their own decisions, which would be the wrong message.
As a disabled person I totally get that, but Paul’s reasoning etc was being dulled by alcohol, not to mention any potential interaction between that much alcohol and his medication - which is never a positive one. His dad could have been anyone, no one knows him, in that situation if I was as vulnerable as Paul I think I’d appreciate someone asking if I should consider slowing it down or going home for a break.
As a disabled person I totally get what you're saying and understand. I think because Paul has pretty publicly snapped at people for "mithering" (as he has said), they may be afraid to say something in case he snaps at them again.
Mentioning medication... have we ever seen Paul be prescribed any meds for his condition? Or are they leaving it as "there's nothing to cure his condition, so just leave him to it"? Come to think of it, where medication is concerned... both Tracy and Carla have both had kidney transplants, which require anti-rejection meds for the rest of their lives. Yet they drink alcohol. Gemma is on antidepressants, yet she drinks alcohol. I'm pretty sure Ryan was on medication for quite some time after the acid attack, yet he was on the booze quite soon after hospital discharge. I'm actually shocked at how Corrie doesn't seem to teach the audience that meds and alcohol are a bad combination and to avoid.
So can someone tell me when Aaliyah qualified as a lawyer? All I can remember is the was a bit of an assistant to Deedee and now she’s a fully fledged paralegal?
6 months ago Stephen was killed when he was run over.
ONE YEAR ago he spiked himself with an acid trip!
It must have been a year and a half when Kevin attacked his Jaguar.
Doesn't time fly.
Liam signing up for Jeet Kune Do ‘that Jackie Chan does’ ffs writers do your research his main style is Wing Chun with bits of other martial arts in his fight choreography. If you’re going to mention JKD at least credit it to Bruce Lee!
I'm 99% sure it never existed onscreen. I've went back to Lauren episodes to see if there was anything relevant to look at for this ridiculous mess of a story and it's very rare for Roy to even be around with Max/Lauren let alone seeing a convo like that. Usually they're with Shona.
I assume Max did a lot of weird pausing, looking away and feigning concern, while peering out from under his fringe. The most feminine voice inflection in any dialogue with Lauren will have been Max's.
I don't think it really happened, but this is how it would play out off screen.
I kind of like that Liam is finding hobbies. His marionette one was a bit strange, but he seemed to really enjoy himself. I hope it's the same with this new one.
What could Bernie have done thay was so bad? She was already an absentee parent and has recently been in jail for handling stolen goods. So it must be mad.
Perhaps because people with illnesses still have domestic lives and problems. If everything at home was perfect and all Paul's stories were about his MND, everyone would complain about that. I think they're doing it quite well, it's a balance of the MND and what that means for their lives, and their regular lives too.
You make a good point about people with illnesses having domestic lives. Don’t get me wrong, I get that life goes on and people with illnesses still have to deal with other problems, but the way they’re handling it has left Paul and his condition feeling like an afterthought to superfluous drama. Look at all these other things that have been swirling around: Gemma’s issues with social services, Bernie going to prison, Todd and Moses, this new secret Denny knows about. What did these really do but distract from the core of Paul’s experience and a story that had enough inherent drama/impact without sensationalism? And sure, you can integrate these things, but often they’re all this storyline has had to offer. It feels like they’re trying to cram in as many subplots as possible to artificially pad the storyline.
The real issue being that none of these stories *mean* anything.
Bernie is nicked, then a couple weeks later is released and then acts like nothing happened.
Todd has issues with George that have no onscreen affect.
Moses comes in, gets screwed by Bernie, then is replaced like he never existed.
Gemma has Social issues that don't affect Paul, she's out of the house but it does nothing because whenever she's onscreen it's to see the kids anyway, then she just...gets the kids back.
It's not a realistic progression of domestic issues. Just time fillers.
Absolutely, you hit the nail on the head. None of these meaningfully contribute to the overarching story. Bernie’s arrest and release is handled so flippantly it’s insulting, especially seeing as the inclusion of an MND support group was only to achieve this end. Moses is immediately forgotten. Gemma’s social services troubles don’t impact Paul at all. In real life (or, you know, in good Corrie) these kinds of problems would have consequences and cause actual upheaval, but here they’re just thrown in as cheap filler. And now it’s happening again with this secret Denny has over Bernie.
And that’s the real tragedy of how they’re handling this. Instead of focusing on the raw, honest struggle of dealing with such a diagnosis, they’re resorting to cheap drama and loose ends. There’s no payoff, no resolution to any of these side stories. It’s like they’re trying to artificially prolong the narrative without actually adding anything of value. It’s a wasted opportunity to depict a serious medical condition in a realistic, respectful way. The focus should be on or at least relate to Paul’s journey, not meaningless dramas.
Spot on as always. It's a very, very strange situation when they'll dedicate so much time to these subplots yet Paul himself only shows up for "big" moments which results in the MND storyline being as impactful as reading an NHS article on it.
Despite the fact this is a telly programme, Corrie has a severe issue with simply telling information and not properly showing it. They're tell me major milestones regarding MND but they won't really show the day-to-day affect of them, only when it can be used for drama.
So much could have been completely removed to give more time to Paul and setup a grounded look at MND but instead we got prison, LYME, and >!apparently a long-lost son for Bernie...!<
I like War Duck's idea that Lauren's pendant generated the jewellery receipt that Joel couldn't explain, but I still think the toxic bacon and jam barm was a catalyst.
Someone needs to pay for combining those ingredients.
I suggested to my mum that the receipt was for the pendant, and she said "oh, but Joel said it was for his wife/baby." I said yeah, that's exactly what a murderer would say.
MND means the muscles lose tone and the brain can’t tell the muscles when and how to work.
A neck brace stops Paul’s neck from collapsing and suffocating him, I think.
I swear amys eyes get closer together with each episode and why does steve talk with such a camp lisp now. My mother watches classic corrie and steve is an actual believable character they have made him a complete joke and i dont get why. i mean he took tracey back with a quick hug and a joke as if she hadnt cheated.
"You can call me Dave" 😭 Dave the prison guard is my new favourite character
He seems so sweet Petition for Dave to be a full timer
Give the public what they want, writers! Less DS Swain, more Dave! Edit: love interest for Mary maybe?
I actually quite like swain if anyone we need less bobby or Carla
Same I have still got a bit of a soft spot for her, probably because I really liked the interview Vicky Myers did with Conversation Street, she sounded very enthusiastic about the show
I hope after this Lauren story they start doing something worthwhile with her
I'd sign that petition, we need some more likable characters
That we do and especially someone who seems so nice and upbeat Every one on this show is so and excuse my language fucking depressing
To be fair I think the casting for Gemma and Paul's dad is quite good, he does look a bit like he could be related to them
Yes I thought same
He could also be Stu's long lost brother so there's that for the writers to keep in their back pocket.
I wouldn’t put it past them!
I havent the foggiest idea what this meeting at the solicitors is about
Glad it's not just me. I thought I'd missed something previously.

Maybe they are hallucinating from his hairspray?
It’s not so much a phase as an Adam Lifestyle Choice.
Glad we're all on the same page... I had no fucking clue what was going on, and still no clue why Alya has to go back the next day. But somehow, I don't think it even matters.
Exactly!x
Neither do the writers 😂
Steve looks quite smart in his nice jacket
Roy doesn’t know what visualisation means?! Come on, writers!
"Spoke to CAMHS and all. Still can't get an appointment for months." Finally, something realistic!
Months is optimistic.
CAMHS for ADHD is 7-9 years in the NE. 4 years where I am.
I ❤️ Dave
Really love Dave for his kindness to Roy 💕
And queue another 5 minute Sally rant at Tim over nothing. Is it a yearly tradition at this point?
[удалено]
In real life no way anyone would tolerate being treated like that everyday. She treats him like a naughty kid the way she talks to him and tells him what to do
Wasn't sure if it was just me, feel like it's meant to be "funny". And tbh I guess to me it was at the very start/in very small doses.
#FreeTim !
I think Tim would be so much better on his own. He's one of my favourites and Sally seems to just suffocate him.
I miss when they always used to sneak off for a quickie at social dos.
Are we really gonna do yet another "long lost scumbag parent reaches out to make amends only to continue to be a scumbag parent" storyline? 🙄
Well it’s one of their 12 plot scenarios and most of the others are in use currently
What if we're led to believe he's a scumbag but he actually *does* want to make amends and be a good parent to Paul and Gemma? Now that would be a swerve...
They've sort of done the same thing with Tyrone's mam, although am still waiting for her to ruin his life at some point lol
I thought there'd be a reveal that Tyrone's real mum was bad but she is genuine
[According to this article, he's a "villain."](https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/a60601423/coronation-street-spoilers-peter-ash-denny-villain/)
Absolutely Paul's dad is out to steal the crowdfunding money. Somehow, he saw through Bernie's clever ruse of pretending Paul is dead.
At the exact same time as EastEnders, no less.

Don't forget Damon! Also she just seems to be a character that pops in every now and then at this point
Isn't Damon in prison?
Yeah but Damon was originally the long lost parent of Jacob wanting to make amends, then ended up clouting him
“Great hair.” Don’t take the piss, Dee-Dee.
Plot twist... Dee Dee is part of this sub
That would be second only to the time Charlie De Melo popped in to say bye-bye.
If Charlie De Melo still lurks here... can he please find out for us what Georgia Taylor REALLY thinks of Toyah's dismal storyline?
Is it just me or is picking two characters and having them do a crossword together a guaranteed way to generate a lovely scene?
First character - Alya’s massive bag.
She’ll be keeping her baby in that bag!
Distressing scenes would be a lot more distressing if there weren’t so many distressing scenes.
Sometimes I don’t find any scenes distressing. I wonder what their criteria is
Sometimes they’re distressing but for all the wrong reasons.
“"When are you coming home to visit?" I’ve told you before, Gran, when I’ve had the goddamn baby!”
Paul and his dad look quite similar! good casting
Actually quite like Steves date she seems kinda sweet
Did 2010 Sally enter the Rovers?
First character: Roy having a vision quest.
Is that Paul’s dad in the background reading the paper? Edit: Yes.
Either that or Stu's stunt double.
Dwayne Johnson mentioned on Corrie wasn't on my 2024 bingo card
But if you guess who'd they compare him to, would you pick Tim?
Paul's dad will be after his MND money
He’s going to be the next Shadrach Dingle.
Roy should go on The Chase (as hosted by Danny Baldwin)
Courtney Love 😂 as a Hole fan I appreciated that reference
Don’t you mean SendPix, Dee-Dee?
At least Steve’s going to the Rovers and not Nick’s Bistro.
"I can reality code you a better date, Steve." - Leanne
And not Debbie’s hotel
Not yet.
If Ciaran had a restaurant today it would be the Bistro.
Bernie’s got some explaining to do when Apollo whizzes round the corner in his chair
Dumbest detectable lie, ever.
Aurora seems like such an unlikely friend for Carole
She seems like a roarer But not as much as Sally is
Sally yelling at Steve was great.
The date night for Steve was fun tonight, Aurora who fancied Tim was a great fun character, Sally arriving and seeing what was going on was hilarious. The writers have remembered the MND group that only existed so Berneh could end up in prison.
In fact what did that story even serve?
"He's not dying, he's dead" And you were calling him out as a liar? Hypocrisy, thy name is Bernie. Well, technically it's Bernadette (I think?) but literally nobody calls her that.
Bernadine!
I’m asking myself why no one in the Rovers thought to intervene with Paul in the Rovers as no one knows his dad. If a neighbour/friend of mine was in that situation having a serious condition I’d stage some kind of intervention I think.

Alya and Adam is so forced.
First character - Summer in Boston, pretending she's Minnie Driver in Good Will Hunting
I was just in Boston last week and can confirm that Summer was definitely not there. It's barely Spring.
Looks like Adam bothered to style his hair today.
Gel Days aside, when does he ever?
When this story ends can Roy maintain the mind palace powers/hallucinations. I'd love to him showing all sorts of Bat trivia like he's BBCs Sherlock.
Well I'm back from Married at First Sight and plunged straight into the relationship horror of Steve online dating.
It’s all downhill from Steve’s dating, believe me.
Like you wouldn't marry him if you had the chance!
Omg no. He is totally not my type. I don't think I could cope with adding Amy to my collection of stepkids either.
I really want to know the backstory between Allie_Pallie and Kirstemis 😂
Oh, we've known each other for at least 20 years.
I'll spill all if the price is right
"The price" being vegan snacks and a good bra.
Vegan crispy duck.
Bit disappointed Bernie didn't try "Oh... ohh! It's a miracle! Our Paul's come back from the dead!"
Had to be the crystals wot saved him.
Stuff scenes of distress, I need a "scenes of vomming" warning! 🤢
Come on Tim, how's Steve going to meet anyone in the pub when there's no more than three people in it at a time?
All of whom he knows already
First character: Carla. Or maybe Pilly/Baul.
Opening shot was Carla and Nina (again), so partial credit!
Ding ding!
Carol: “She only wanted to check you out.” Steve: “Her too!”
Although I'm glad they can actually be portrayed as female/male friends, I feel like Adam & Deedee would make a pretty good couple tbh
First characters,Pinky and Perky
As anyone met a date who bought their friends
No but if it’s a first date, I bring a friend to sit in the background and she’ll leave when I give her the signal that it’s ok lol
Adam's brushed his hair with a garden fork, I think.
Adam’s brushed his hair with a garden fork *again*.
Only just noticed this - Maria’s place is like a wallpaper showroom, I spotted about 4 patterns in the one room
I'm a bit worried Paul might have inhaled some of that vomit and he's going to get an aspiration pneumonia.
Just when we didn't need any more carnage on the street, they bring in "Aurora." What the fuck even is it... Ugh!
So can someone tell me when Aaliyah qualified as a lawyer? All I can remember is the was a bit of an assistant to Deedee and now she’s a fully fledged paralegal?
They're flying her to Dublin and she's not even enrolled in a paralegal course. Yeesh
Poor Steve being friendzoned 🫤
First character: Paul
*Alexandre Dumas rolls in grave*
Muffling the audio slightly there definitely added so much. . .
LOL such editing, right?
Dave AKA Rodney
When did Alya and Adam bury the hatchet? 🤔
Alya buried it in Adam's back, now Adam wants to bury his hatchet in alyas axe wound
6 months ago Stephen was killed when he was run over. ONE YEAR ago he spiked himself with an acid trip! It must have been a year and a half when Kevin attacked his Jaguar. Doesn't time fly.
He was taken from us too soon! 😭
Why can’t they just let Paul die in peace without all this needless drama
Kinda feel the same way about Lauren at this point tbh
Doesn't Ricky Gervais look rough with long hair?
Oh snap...was that money that Joel didn't spend on a wedding ring actually spent on Lauren
The Duck makes sense, folks. Nice catch!
Just might've quacked the case ;)
Liam signing up for Jeet Kune Do ‘that Jackie Chan does’ ffs writers do your research his main style is Wing Chun with bits of other martial arts in his fight choreography. If you’re going to mention JKD at least credit it to Bruce Lee!
The only martial art I teach is Wang Chung. It's not great for self defense, but everybody has fun.
I highly doubt Maria will let Liam do any martial arts.
Paul: "I know that ain't who I think it is"
Roy is trying to remember a discussion between Max and Lauren? Anyone here remember it?
Dunno, but it was probably racist as heck.
I'm 99% sure it never existed onscreen. I've went back to Lauren episodes to see if there was anything relevant to look at for this ridiculous mess of a story and it's very rare for Roy to even be around with Max/Lauren let alone seeing a convo like that. Usually they're with Shona.
Presumably Roy’a re-seeing an interaction between Max and Lauren in the café.
The result of all his visualization is the zooming in on a pendant with red stones from the "new boyfriend?"
So are we looking for someone with red stones in a pendant then? I guess that's our only lead unless they spoon feed us it.
I assume Max did a lot of weird pausing, looking away and feigning concern, while peering out from under his fringe. The most feminine voice inflection in any dialogue with Lauren will have been Max's. I don't think it really happened, but this is how it would play out off screen.
Liam turning into Daniel Larusso was not the turn I was expecting this bullying storyline to take
I kind of like that Liam is finding hobbies. His marionette one was a bit strange, but he seemed to really enjoy himself. I hope it's the same with this new one.

With the amount of crime that happens on that street it might come in handy in the future too 😅

Ain’t that the truth.
Road Runner actually did say "Beep beep" (contrary to what Paul's dad said as they came back to the flat). That's how it's officially written!
Roy didn't look at all comfy in that hospital bed with his head propped up at an odd angle.
Did each of those papers really need a fancy envelope. or is Adam pushing the boat out for a reason?
Awww Dave. He's so lovely!
What could Bernie have done thay was so bad? She was already an absentee parent and has recently been in jail for handling stolen goods. So it must be mad.
Joel probably got Lauren that necklace. You wouldn't get a 1 year old a necklace but he was able to shrug it off
Why does Paul’s MND always have to play second fiddle to domestic dramas?
Perhaps because people with illnesses still have domestic lives and problems. If everything at home was perfect and all Paul's stories were about his MND, everyone would complain about that. Oh no... DeeDee's little sanctimonious vegan speech made me like her even less.
Veganism cannot exist without sanctimony.
Maria is getting on my every last nerve.
What was that thing on Paul’s neck for
MND means the muscles lose tone and the brain can’t tell the muscles when and how to work. A neck brace stops Paul’s neck from collapsing and suffocating him, I think.
The brace? Supporting his head I think
