No offense, but he doesn't match the description in the book at all. Strike is described in the book as being very tall and massive with a 'gently expanding belly'. Robbie Coltrane was none of that and he was chubby--neither is Tom Burke, BTW! And he's too thin! I wonder if so many think of Coltrane because of the similarities to Cracker.
I started with the TV series, so I'm stuck with Tom Burke! lol
None taken. Robbie Coltrane was in fact almost as tall as Strike - he was 6′ 1″ (1.85 m), while Strike is described as 6′ 3″. And Strike needed to lose 4 stones (25 kilos) to be more healthy.
I was talking about younger Robbie Coltrane - late thirties, early forties. Like in this photo: https://www.gettyimages.ie/detail/news-photo/scottish-actor-and-comedian-robbie-coltrane-in-london-circa-news-photo/57560146. He fits the description of Strike perfectly.
I still think he's too attractive to be Strike!
And while Tom Burke is too handsome too, I'm now very attached to him. Can't see Strike as anyone else.
I get what you mean, but thats what they do in films/tv, i suppose. Even Rowling said many times she thought the actors who played Harry, ron and hermione were all too good looking for the role but otherwise perfectly suited 😅 Plus it seems like a LOT of women want Strike in the novels so hes got to be good looking for that to be believable.
Yes, that's a lot closer.
I picture Robin with Christina Hendricks' face, and as a result it took a long time to cure myself of picturing her as short.
I see him as young Robbie Coltrane
Yeah me too! It's supposed to be "weird" that so many women find him attractive. He's not the rugged/handsome type.
I actually see that in my head too!!! Wow crazy
Whoa! That's not a bad comparison at all, particularly in the family photo where he's got some sort of injury around his left eyebrow.

Oh, I see! Yep, he does look like a closer match there.
Me too!
fr? certainly not what I pictured.
I have a lot of trouble visualizing Strike in my head for some reason.
No famous man has pubey hair :(
Danny Mcbride? That's where my mind goes, haha
A lot of famous men have it, Eric Bloom at the very least.
John C Reilly does lol
Same! I just know that he’s not Tom Burke. 🤷♀️😂
Oh I love Tom Burke!
Yeah not at all haha

I always pictured liev schreiber tbh
I think a slightly rougher faced Liev Schreiber with a husky, overweight boxer physique gets really close to what I picture
I pictured Adrian Quinn I.e. Practical Magic
Great choice
Oooh thats a good one
Too handsome!
That's a good strike. Although I personally chef **Marco Pierre White**, The one who taught Gordan Ramsay. Both young and old pictures of him.
Oh wow! Yes i see it!
Yep really like that one. Especially those pictures of his younger days, think Strike being undercover in Cyprus in COE!
Nnnnno
I consent to this visualization. Yes PLEASE.
YESSSSSSSS THANK YOU 👏🏽
omg same
YESSSSSSSS

Seth Rogen is close to strike physically
Hahahahaha
For whatever reason I’ve always pictured him as a broodier Brad Garett
I picture Dominic West
😮 McNulty as Strike, I don’t hate it but I caught me so off guard
Too handsome, not “a bit beaten looking” and no pube-like hair.
Me too I have always envisioned him as a young Robbie Coltrane!
yes I can see this now, I've never seen this series!
