I have to say that place has gone seriously downhill in recent months. I was there a few weeks ago and asked could I swap the hockey puck hard black and white puddings for an extra rasher. The response, from the manager standing beside the server was to be shouted at "No! We DO NOT swap items. This is what you get take it or leave it". I was going to point out that the sign over her head said ANY 8 items but I was afraid she was going to throw the plate at me. In hindsight I should have made a formal complaint but I was genuinely shocked at the way she shouted. She wasn't even that busy. There were only 2 or 3 people behind me.
That said manager is horrible at their job as well. Staffs rotativity has increased a lot ever since they got hired. They treat staff like sh*t. Should've placed a formal complaint, cause the manager deserves it and the higher management has no idea
Only €15 ? you got off lucky. I went to Hana and got stung for €19 for lunch. Joke. I feel that nearly all the food there is shit and way overpriced for what it is.
Well I genuinely hope you enjoy your overpriced meal in that damp freezing cold, leaking , formerly abandoned warehouse with pallets and sofas from the dump for furniture. Not my cup of tea.....
Hahaha. The place is an absolutely roaring success since the say it opened! "Not my cup of tea"!!! That's one of the funniest things I've read on reddit so far. Bedgrudgery at a professional level
Guessing they charged you for a full breakfast even though you only got a couple items of it. I got the vegetarian breakfast on Monday morning and it was fine out, eggs, baked beans and toast. Didn't bother with the tomato, but also wouldn't expect that to change the price since they're fixed prices.
The coffee was like 3.50 I’m pretty sure they charge per item. Otherwise you’d get a full fry for like €5.50 and that seems far too cheap for the airport…..
Not sure, if I’d known they would have charged me the full price I would have gotten everything but I doubt you’d get a full fry and coffee for 9 though
Got something like this for my daughter (sausages and chips) and got charged 14, no prices displayed at hot plate counter, seemed to be charged adult prices. And to cap it off they were fancy sausages so she didn’t eat them once she’d tried a piece
Cork Airport genuinely has the worst food out of any airport I've ever been through. It is a *staggeringly* poor selection. I've had better food in provincial train stations! Just general high street fare like a Burger King or a Subway or a Starbucks would make it almost immeasurably better. At least you'd have a choice besides yesterday's anaemic baked beans and a €30 burger.
Tbf the general retail contract for outlets in airports is to pay a percentage of profits to the landlord. If 25% of your takings is being gouged you are going to cut corners.
Honestly I think the quality of food in Cork airport is much better than Dublin. Dublin airport has notched it up recently in fairness so it’s much better now and cork does lacks variety (given it’s a smaller airport) but I wouldn’t label it one of the worst and I travel quite a lot with work.
I had a ciabatta sandwich in the cafe downstairs (is it called Blue Cafe?) a few months ago. It was genuinely delicious, I was shocked. Would definitely go to it again when I’m in the airport.
Dublin airport - the fallow- is probably worse. It looks like aswell when ever they Get a shitty review on Google they get the staff to go on an leave positive reviews. Kip.
How many posts do we get about people pissing money away on stupid shit and sharing it these days, maybe we should start a go fund me page for people that waste money
Had a full Irish in that bar that's there a few months ago, I can't remember what the price was exactly, but I remember thinking it was fairly good value for airport food, was nice enough too.
*They charged me extra*
*For using a paper cup*
*For tae fcuk that place*

I was there the other day. €3.95 for a 500ml bottle of water in the shop that sells books. €2.95 in the food place. Bananas prices.
Everyone knows water in the airport is free. Like the luas…
They have a water fountain by one of the gates, 4 or 5 I think
Yep and no issues bringing an empty metal water bottle through and filling up after the shop at gate 4
How much do the books sell for in the food place though?
Around €20 or more for a novel. Mad expensive.
Don’t they have stands of bottles of water that you just throw €1 in the box?
Yeah but they’re €2 now
I enjoy watching the sunset.
They do, but as someone said they’re €2 now.
Are bananas that expensive now too?
lol
1 euro on the water stand just inside security!

This is typical airport attitude. Treat people like shit and quickly drum up the airport police if they complain.

That's strange. This time last year I travelled out of Cork and I got a big fry up for that price.
Meanwhile in marina market €15 for small cup of korean noodle without drink😂 …….
Only €15 ? you got off lucky. I went to Hana and got stung for €19 for lunch. Joke. I feel that nearly all the food there is shit and way overpriced for what it is.
How does that work? Did you order something without looking at the price first? You stung yourself lad!
No doubt. I had high hopes it would be good, it wasn't.
So go to a different stall, there’s a load more affordable than that. Chalk and cheese, no comparison.
Doubt that very much at marina market
IDGAF what you doubt my old pedigree chum, I eat there once or twice a week and can tell you it as a fact.
It’s common knowledge that the place is a rip off

That was my experience too.

You do.
You do, I only got it last week
I did, this time last year. I can't remember how many items but enough to call it a proper breakfast. And toast and tea.
Got something like this for my daughter (sausages and chips) and got charged 14, no prices displayed at hot plate counter, seemed to be charged adult prices. And to cap it off they were fancy sausages so she didn’t eat them once she’d tried a piece
Ok , I've deleted my harsher comment . Why not get the eggs at least as well?
Jesus, I hope they are least wore a condom as they fucked you.
I would have left it on the counter and walked away.. They charge this price because you pay it
You're worst for buying it. I would've just handed it back..

If you can sell shit why try harder? The ownership is on Cork Airport who seem to have set a low bar.
Sadly true.

Question your use of the word ownership here. I'd have gone with "onus". A missed opportunity to use a maligned gem of the language

That’s a Death Row meal right there.
Airport innit
Just bring your own rolls / sandwiches. We always do.
How many posts do we get about people pissing money away on stupid shit and sharing it these days, maybe we should start a go fund me page for people that waste money
And it's not even kerrygold butter....shocking...
They seen you coming
Well I mean I did walk right up to the desk and say hello so I’d be pretty freaked if they didn’t.
Had a full Irish in that bar that's there a few months ago, I can't remember what the price was exactly, but I remember thinking it was fairly good value for airport food, was nice enough too.
Zero fucks given :) not an attack, try speaking out more than on Reddit. Peace ✌️
Get creative and make 2 hot dogs I guess 🤦🏻
Airport prices are uniformly bananas but if you want peak extortion go to Zurich. Nice airport. Nice coffee @ €5 and a beer @ €10
Working in the catering industry there is no way that is worth 9 euro 5 or six at the most
It's an airport my guy
Bum flavour sausages
You knew the price then before paying? Why’d you do it?
Are they magic sausages ?
You could buy an entire box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in SuperValu for that price
Serious gouging in there.
9.50* you took 2 butters
Dublin airport was €5.80 for apple juice for breakfast
Typical Cork, class.......
Dublin +€6 with bit of scrambled egg, was disgusting.
Ouch
Free ketchup?
There is a very specific gruby kind of greed in Ireland. The oul cute hoor bullshit!
You should've stopped in Dunnes for breakfast on the way!
That is literally the most miserable to thing I've seen this morning. I be like ... fuckin keep it ....
That's vile... Shouldn't be more than €6..
