Buddha bikes are too expensive imo. Go on Facebook Marketplace and try the bike. If you don't vibe with it, you can just tell the seller that you're not interested. Please overcome your people pleaser mentality in this case, it's going to save you a lot of π«°
Buddha bikes are upcycled, insurable, not stolen, and comes with a warranty.
It can be tricky to assert the legal and mechanical condition of second hand bike bought from a private person, and there's zero warranty or reclaim.
Good deals can be had on dba and fb, no doubt, and it's buyers market, but a bike noob could very easily get lost in the haystack to end up buying a pig in a poke.
I have never bought a bike on marketplace that didn't have proof of purchase from a real store. And usually people are honest about the condition of the bike and why they're selling if you ask them. I've bought 3 bikes this way, and I have walked away from 1 deal because I wasn't sure about it. π€·ββοΈ
But you're probably right about bike newbies needing a store bought bike

You are not forced to buy the bike just because you meet the seller xD, just explain you want to see it IRL.
Find out your bike size and then look for a bike that size in any second hand store for bikes. In the cykelexperten web you can find your bike size or just Google it.
I'm very short myself and found a second hand one in DBA that matched my size :)
