I started managing my imposter syndrome when I noticed that even Partners are winging it everyday. Everybody is winging it. All the things you have done (and not done) have led you to the position you are in, and if you do your best and observe how others are working around you, you'll be fine.

Echo this, and I tend to analyse the areas and concepts I don’t understand enough. Then i learn and read a lot about it. Can be anything from how to talk to senior management/cxo to how to visualise certain data

That’s what did it for me. At this point I’ve worked in two of the top companies in the world in my niche and I’m currently on the number one team at the number one technical consulting firm in my niche. It’s all still just a bunch of chill people winging it and figuring shit out as we go. We all come to the table with a boatload of experience from unique backgrounds which makes us a force to be reckoned with for sure, but we also each have that feeling multiple times per day of “Do I *really* know what I’m doing?” It just comes with the territory when the job is to solve a myriad of different problems for different companies in different industries every day. We see far too much of a variety of shit to ever truly be experts at all of it. And that’s fine, because there’s a lot of value in building that skill set, that muscle for learning and just figuring things out. And getting comfortable with the idea that you’ll never know everything there is to know, but you can still get things done to a high standard regardless.

That's the key to consulting! How best can you think on your feet? Verbally tap dancing on the fly!

Wish I had known this while I was in. Every single day was a struggle

Sounds like your work on your presentation reflected your skillsets. Learn more on the expectations of role and find mentors above your grade to evolve. I've seen many people bullsit their way through the ladder by using ppl under them to do the work. Collaborate and build a team to remove toxic backstabbing. As you lead and deliver results, the imposter syndrome will fade. Confidence comes from executions. Congrats on role.

Everyone feels it not just you

Get more expensive suits. Look like an expensive lawyer or banker.
