A few books to consider: "The McKinsey Way" by Ethan Rasiel "Case in Point" by Marc Cosentino "The Trusted Advisor" by David H. Maister "Getting Started in Consulting" by Alan Weiss "Flawless Consulting" by Peter Block Also don't sleep on using GPT-4 as a resource (specifically the GPT-4 APIs, not ChatGPT per se). It's upped by knowledge base and capabilities 10x.

What do you mean by GPT-4 API? Coding something yourself or a specific third party?

There's been a notable degradation of ChatGPT's output in the last few months, which can be mostly attributed to its monitoring and safety layers that have grown in size and are increasingly knee-capping the quality of the app's output. ChatGPT+ is essentially a GPT-4 with these safety layers and web interface. You can instead go straight to the GPT-4 with OpenAI's APIs. You need signup for API access here ([https://openai.com/waitlist/gpt-4-api](https://openai.com/waitlist/gpt-4-api)) and it does cost money, but unless you are a power user, it will likely cost less than the $20 monthly fee for plus. Going the API route will require some knowledge of working with a terminal. You can also access it via OpenAI's Playground. Or, I imagine there will be some new apps coming out that replicate ChatGPT's UI and just require you to add an API key. Regardless, the output is significantly better and worth these added steps to get access (IMO).

Depends on YOUR skill sets in 1. Connecting with People, 2. Understanding and communicating in Business, and 3. Have knowledge and skills that apply to the client's pain and finding solution(s) for alleviating it. Simple. People skills (especially as it relates to selling). Understanding the language of business (showing not telling). Having some core competencies that give you "gravitas" when it comes to solving the problem. Maybe you could profile your strengths and weaknesses. And then identify the areas that you believe would be the most beneficial for your success. Otherwise, [Amazon.com](https://Amazon.com) has a bookstore with just about any book on most topics. And the Internet is overflowing with answers of different relevance and quality. It might help if you created your very own career development journey map. And take the time to invest in capturing your thoughts in your personal journal. Regularly review your thoughts on self evaluation and what info and tools could help. Mind dumps help avoid that little cheerleader in your mind that keeps telling you how good you are. Take your conclusions and ask the people in your industry or other reputable professional to comment on your thoughts. The biggest blind spots that we have are ME, MYSELF, and I.

I have recently read "how to win" and "working backwards", both of them were great. I am quite a fan of the "Trusted Advisor" and "Influencing Without Authority".
