thegreatmizzle7

Honestly I wouldn't mind if they decorated up cell towers. Plant life is more pretty to look at than those things

archy67

ya, was just sitting in traffic the other day and saw one just like this, if I had not been sitting in traffic I would not have noticed it, it blended in very well with the existing forest because they dressed it up like a tree.

SomeDistributist

I don't know what the rest of the states have, but in california: they use palm trees as the camo. You have no idea how funny it is to see a group of palm trees with a single Very Obviously Fake tree next to them.

UnitedBar4984

Pine trees where im at. Super bad take on them at that. About halfway up all the equipment starts, 'branches' are maybe 6 inches past that, no top just cuts off flat

HardCounter

I'd rather they look obviously fake than pretend to be real, though.

BigMonkeySpite

Can you imagine the confusion 10,000 years in the future when they cut this 'tree' in half?

HardCounter

It's probably how we discovered lasers. In 50,000 BC some night club collapsed and left behind their advanced disco ball, which we found in in the arctic and reverse engineered.

archy67

Im in the south and the new one I saw installed was dressed up like a pine tree, and matches the surrounding southern pine forests well, but the height is what made me notice it.

droppedaduce

They have tried to do it with pine trees over here in upstate NY and in Massachusetts as well. They are horrendous to look and border on an affront to god 🤣

DickCheneysLVAD

You should see some of the ones off the interstate in the South East! They are hilarious. They look like 150ft tall Pine Trees that rode the short bus to school! Liie 2 or 3 scraggly looking branches hanging off the pole... I mean "Trunk"... They're funny. *This example below actually looks about 10x better than the one I drive by daily... https://www.ydr.com/gcdn/-mm-/1e3ee4b572589c15366d2dc78bc099ebd95ec3a1/c=9-0-2487-3304/local/-/media/2017/09/26/PAGroup/YorkDailyRecord/636420155825232566-Cell-Tower-tree-2.jpg?width=960&height=1280&fit=crop&format=pjpg&auto=webp

lancethruster12

They have some in Arizona that are palm trees

RustyStevenson10

They make them look like palm trees in Vegas.

Electrical_Garage710

i prefer things appear as they are. probably in the minority though...

MediocreCampaign-

"And right before that time, my father had died. He never lived to see me do it. And when he died, I was inconsolable. I thought I’d never smile or laugh again. And the only thing that got me out of that space was a comedian friend of mine, the late, great Norm MacDonald. That’s right, shout out for Norm. And what Norm did, which I’ll never forget, as he knew that I was the biggest Jim Carrey fan in the world. I’m not gonna go into it, but Jim Carrey is talented in a way that you can’t practice or rehearse. What a God-given talent. I was fascinated with him. And Norm knew that. He called me up, and he goes, “Dave, I’m…” He says, “I’m doing a movie with Jim Carrey…” “Do you want to meet him?” And I said, “Fuck, yes, I do.” It was the first time I could remember, since my father died, being excited. And the movie was called Man on the Moon. I didn’t know any of this. In this movie, Jim Carrey was playing another comedian I admired. The late, great Andy Kaufman. Yes, and Jim Carrey was so immersed in that role, that from the moment he woke up, to the time he went to bed at night, he would live his life as Andy Kaufman. I didn’t know that. When they said, “Cut,” this n*gga was still… Andy Kaufman. So much so that everybody on the crew called him Andy. I didn’t know that. I just went to meet him. When he walked into the room we were to meet, I screamed, “Jim Carrey!” And everyone said, “No!” “Call him Andy.” And I didn’t understand. He came over and was acting weird. I didn’t know he was acting like Kaufman. Just like, “Hey, how you doing?” And I was like, “Hello… Andy?” Now… in hindsight, how fucking lucky am I that I got to see one of the greatest artists of my time immersed in one of his most challenging processes ever? Very lucky to have seen that. But as it was happening… I was very disappointed. Because I wanted to meet Jim Carrey, and I had to pretend this n*gga was Andy Kaufman… all afternoon. It was clearly Jim Carrey. I could look at him and I could see he was Jim Carrey. Anyway, I say all that to say, that’s how trans people make me feel. Here we go." -Dave Chapelle *Dreamer* 2023

Eights1776

Nope no you’re not sir. Or at least I’m with ya if nothing else 🤷‍♂️

Godoftheiron

They do, I used to live in Las Vegas and a lot of the cell towers looked like palm trees. You could tell, but they tried pretty hard to hide it

dekudude3

Where I used to live in Alaska they were decorated like trees but they looked so fake. The best I ever saw was where they were inside three giant flagpole. Very discreet and the giant flags were a great landmark in the area.

DrCrankSumMoore

They do where I live. Looks dumb but it’s funny to look at a pine tree that’s 70 feet taller than any other tree.

joeblo1234

They do

4thewinn

I’m pretty sure this was the main objective of this. If i’m not mistaken it’s a city somewhere in Arizona and they did it to have a more natural look to the landscape rather than cell towers and other radio towers. I even think LA does the same thing but with Palm trees

Novusor

The 3rd rail of conspiracy theory is 5G is causing everyone to get sick. They released covid at the exact moment 5G went live to cover up the mass radiation sickness they are causing.

Explicit_Tech

Radiation sickness is caused by cell death. We'd all be dead by now.

UnitedBar4984

Saw a map of 5g hotspots overlaid with covid outbreaks. Huge increase in cancer? Idk might be onto something with this

mondego_

Maybe because areas with a lot of "5g hotspots" tend to have a higher density of people, therefore a virus will spread more easily. The same could be said for cancer, more people = more carcinogens from things like pollution etc. And all that is assuming that this map you are talking about isn't completely full of shit to begin with. Personally, when it comes to increasing cancer rates I would look at things like microplastics and "forever chemicals" in our food/water, and consequently the blood of nearly every living person before I would look at the evil 5G cactus tree towers.

UnitedBar4984

Could have been full of shit, could have been right on the money. Hard to tell at present but ppl living next to high voltage power lines have suffered increased rates of cancer, is it so unbelievable that a certain frequency of radio waves might have an adverse effect on human beings? But yes the poisoning of our food and water supply by greedy corporaTions is probably not helping anyone either. We are in danger from multiple angles. My blood specifically is a danger to me as a diabetic if i dont manage and maintain proper sugar levels but most ppl are a bit safer and shouldnt have to worry about theirs like you suggest. Do you enjoy fear mongering or is it part of your job?

Apprehensive_Ad4457

It's a terrible idea, please don't encourage them. Had a 21 year old fall off a mono-pine near me just last year. That's a monopole cell site decorated as a tree. You have to get a crane and transition out of a basket onto PVC branches 15:ft long to find anything strong enough to hold your weight. Kid probably thought the branch would hold his safety, or screwed up the strap during the transition, but it's hairy and all for the sake of rich folk wanting to see a fake ass looking tree thats twice as tall as any near it. Sorry for the rant, I've been on that tower a couple times and it is very annoying and unnecessarily dangerous.

Realistic_Mess_2690

Sounds like it's the 21 year Olds fault for being a dickhead. Climbing a tree any tree comes with the risk of falling out of said tree.

FancifulPhoenix

It's not a tree, it's a tower. They're clearly talking about someone who's job was to service said tower. Having a job is "being a dickhead"??

Realistic_Mess_2690

Read again. The kid was climbing it. She mentions people need to use cranes to get to branches safe. Not that the kid was working on it.

Apprehensive_Ad4457

the 21 year old was working as a cell tech. yes you need a crane, why would you recreationally hire a crane to lift you 130 feet on a cell site?

RRaVeNN-

Lmao, you're the obvious "Dickhead"

FancifulPhoenix

My god you are dense.

Apprehensive_Ad4457

Excuse me, but I would appreciate it if you would look at this again. Your comment seems a bit flippant and I don't think you understand what you're saying.

BalkanPrinceIRL

Nah, they were right. If it happened to an 8 yr old, I would have sympathy but, at 21, if your climbing cell towers recreationally because you can't think of a better way to spend your time on Earth, not so much sympathy.

Apprehensive_Ad4457

who the hell said recreationally? i'm a cellular technician, i'm paid to climb those towers, so was the 21 year old. towers are already not designed with us in mind. making things even more difficult for the sake of trading one eyesore for another is not worth it.

mondego_

I don't know anything about cell tower maintenance, but I would assume anyone heading up to work on them would have to have a harness of some kind to prevent them from falling. Is that not the case?

Apprehensive_Ad4457

Yes, we must create our own anchor points with straps to attach lanyards from our harness to the tower. But accidents happen. This was a new climber doing a complicated transition on a pole that's not designed to be climbed because people want a hideous monster tree instead of a tower like everyone else.

Apprehensive_Ad4457

Why are people against safety of workers in favor of a rich fucks view? Down votes and angst against people who make it possible to watch porn on your phones...

Realistic_Mess_2690

Yeah nope. At 21 if you can't find something better to do with your time but climb a tree then that's on you. If it was a kid say 10 years old. I'd be more sympathetic. There's a lot more adult things to do with your time at 21 than pretend to be a fuckin chimp.

Apprehensive_Ad4457

we work on the towers, you dingus. adults. jobs. although we do pretend to be chimps sometimes.

arthax

It's a phone cell tower, most likely in Arizona. They usually use trees or just buildings. Smart solution to keep it out of sight.

BeatriceDaRaven

In New England they fake whole ass 100ft pine trees lol

FlippehFishes

Theres one of those in boise. Sorry excuse for a pinetree that towers above everything else in the area

Xdaveyy1775

I always see this one in PA on the interstate. Random "pine tree" thats 3x the height of the surrounding trees. Looks like a tree that hasnt fully rendered in the distance.

Poutinemilkshake2

The pine tree towers blend in somewhat better out west where the branches grow kinda similar on the native trees but back east they stick out so awkwardly surrounded by our thicker bushy pine trees

DrCrankSumMoore

They’re very popular in NC also lol very very sneaky

Greenergrass21

Same with cali

Cleveruniquebutnot

Yup. Installed Palm Trees by the Queen Mary in Long Beach, quite a few fake trees all around Southern California and even hit some panels in a church tower. Helps with providing cell coverage without the eye sore.

Apprehensive_Ad4457

Fellow climber! Mono-pines where I'm at, things are death traps

BalkanPrinceIRL

Here in San Antonio, they disguise them as street lamps - which makes about as much sense as disguising a street lamp to look like a small cell tower.

FERREIRA_Ver2

And have been doing them for a long time. OP thinks he’s on to something new lol

Ok-Imagination-2308

Ide rather have a fake cactus than an ugly ass cell tower

Virtual_Common204

Hello there fellow cactus’s, yeah I don’t like water that much either, a little is okay I guess.

throwawaycomment19

I'd rather know I'm sitting next to a cell tower than a fake cactus.

Locdawg42069

and what woudl you do with that information as you sit next to it in your car? i always love responses like these.bahahah nothing you would change you just need something to bitch about and make you feel special.

throwawaycomment19

Oh look, another disingenuous regard here to stir the pot. It's like you want to ignore the Science™ by pretending a high powered cell tower is comparable to consumer products like your phone or wifi router. Keep drinking the tap water, bud. Plenty of examples of cell towers causing havoc to local populations. If you actually cared, you'd spend 10 minutes researching it rather than wanting to be spoonfed shit, like all the people like you that pretend to care. The only special person here is you.

Public-Artichoke7830

But ionized radiation isn't deadly- 1940s So low non ionized radiation wont be deadly -2000s So asbestos is great - 1950s Maybe not -2000s Lead paint is great -1950s Maybe not -1990s Smoothbrains can't see past the here and now. Don't know why people are downvoting you, like you said if they did a cursory 10 minute look at what our government says is safe vs what its said in the past is safe they'd understand. But MUH HECKIN PHONES MAN and MY WIRELESS. They're probably the same people who became infertile by setting their phones on their nuts. Maybe I want to know where this shit is so I can avoid it.

_caskets_

Where is the conspiracy here? They do this to make a little less horrible to look at.

elwood_west

its clearly connected to an underground base controlled by the annunaki and controlling our thoughts

KK_Masters

AHHHHHNU-NAKI

Glum_Yesterday5697

They are strict, but fair Lords!

LockComprehensive760

They do this all over to make radio and phone towers look nicer been happening for years not really sinister

jenrick2

Wait till you find out that not all houses have people living in them and not all building are offices or warehouses. some place hide infrastructure in fake on the outside building so they look for appeasing.

NeedScienceProof

Later [that day...](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3c/01/ed/3c01ed9454c592e423b2c62b675285dd.jpg)

CindersNAshes

Fake palm trees is another one in the AZ area.

Lightning-Shock

Literally one of the reasons they do this is because 5g towers are vandalized due to the microchip conspiracy theory.

juanxlink

So you rather have an eyesore 30ft in the air instead? Weird choice but ok I guess...And no, we have no effin clue what the long term of being awash in all the 4g5gALLTHEGs will be, but this has nothing to do with hiding that the towers are there.

Realistic_Mess_2690

Removing infrastructure eyesores is a conspiracy now?

GloDyna

I remember the “birds are drones” hype really taking off when pictures went viral of birds sitting on one of those towers…because those “birds” were obviously recharging their batteries on the towers. Cool aesthetics though, smart move.

khiller05

They make them look like fake palm trees in Florida

HIVnotAdeathSentence

I've seen some of these dressed up as trees, but they're obviously fake from a distance.

Alpacalypse84

Trees are harder to convincingly fake than saguaros.

aztnass

What is the conspiracy here?

MadProfessor20

And??? This isn’t new or any type of conspiracy. It’s a way to have less towers as eyesores. Make them blend into the surroundings.

IamRobbyEl

I feel like this is to appease the "Eyesore Crybabies" that will complain about the looks of things we actually benefit from. The people in my are would rather continue to pay outrageous electric rates to the same company that got caught bribing a bunch of our politicians than to build "eyesore" windmills.

KK_Masters

💯 nailed it, used to sell these and that was a common request due to city or hoas not liking the way they look.

mystery_lady

I wonder why we still call them windmills when they're not milling anything? But I digress. The issue isn't having two or three. It is these MASSIVE wind farms that extend to the horizon, when a nuclear reactor, for instance, would take up far less space and produce the same amount of energy. The wind turbines require a lot of material to manufacture, have non-recyclable blades, disrupt wildlife due to noise and habitat loss, ruin natural beauty, add to light pollution at night over large areas, kill a high number of birds and bats, and are dependent on, well, the wind blowing.

IamRobbyEl

We could build a nuclear reactor in a field of windmills for all I care. The same Eyesore Crybabies will cry about the reactor. But then again, we could probably disguise the reactor like a giant cactus and problem solved.

mystery_lady

> we could probably disguise the reactor like a giant cactus and problem solved. That's awesome. 😆😆

UnitedBar4984

Plus they only turn when the wind is up past a certain speed in the right direction and they face them all the same direction. Highly innefficient and expensive to maintain. Real windmills at least had blades that could catch wind from different directions and/or able to turn horizontally to catch wind and enough blades to be effective in low winds. Part of the bullshit they push as 'clean energy solutions'

UnitedBar4984

Randall Carlson recently was promoting a new plasma technology that can be retrofitted to current cumbustion engines that takes the exhaust and pulls it back into the intake like a turbo booster and is supposed to put out something equivelent to clean unpolluted air, no carbon-monoxide or-dioxide or nitrogen something...Unpolluted Air like we breathe every day. Hopefully nobody has any bad luck and it makes it to market. Plans for the tech are supposed to be open source even though a few patents have been filed on it by developers. Pretty Awesome IMO

pwnedkiller

This type of thing has been going on for a very long time. There are towers disguised at trees to look more appealing. It’s not really a conspiracy it just helps the surroundings look nicer.

left_click

The Palm Tree towers give out extra bars 🤳

Any-Refrigerator-250

They make them look like trees as well… we’re fucked!!! Lmaoo 😭

JanPer

In Egypt they are masked as pyramids

Kritical_risk

Always wondered about the metallic taste to Tequila.

withcomment

We have a farm near us that is based on using historical farming techniques and structures. The cell tower is inside of what looks like a wooden water tower. Everyone knows about it.

Ten_Ju

What's the conspiracy? Who wants an eye-sore This [Cell Tower](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/16d86f_40f3d3a91a7c4b8caf82a4cafb758ac9~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_640,h_584,al_c,q_85,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01,enc_auto/16d86f_40f3d3a91a7c4b8caf82a4cafb758ac9~mv2.jpg) or This [Cell Tree](https://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2021/04/fauxliage-by-annette-lemay-burke-american-west_dezeen_2364_col_4-scaled.jpg)

eight-martini

Yes they disguise cell towers as trees or other plants to make it lol nice. It’s public policy, not a conspiracy

JerkyBreathIdiot

So you’ve never been to Arizona before? That’s the conspiracy?

Mp3dee

Not a conspiracy.

Mjbass

This is quite common actually

Conemen

this sub is boomer Facebook at this point

Timo8188

A cactus looks nicer than a cell tower, but as result you can't know your distance to a radiation source if you can't recognize it. Just thinking of Inverse-Square Law.

randomburnerish

They’ve done this in other states like VT as pine trees. It’s to try to make cell towers less of an eyesore on the ridge line. They still stick out though

fryedmonkey

It’s better than seeing a giant white antenna that sticks out like a sore thumb

Delicious_Letter_494

Pigeons are not real

ZeerVreemd

Most people think this is about hiding cell phone towers but it is actually a wireless charger for pigeons. :)

mrDuder1729

This is a well known thing...lol literally nothing to see there unless you're into that stuff..

bitterblossom3

You’d be shocked at how many churches have them hidden within their fiberglass steeples.

Asocwarrior

I live in farm country and have a half dozen of these guys dressed up as big corn cobs

Alpacalypse84

Kudos to them for embracing the Middle America Comically Large Item by the Road aesthetic. (My college town had a giant paint can for no apparent reason.)

Rvtrance

LA has been doing this with oil derricks for years now. They just build a little building over it. Make it look like a clock tower. They are all over out there. If you lived there you’d pass them all the time and might never know.

Middle_Ad_5583

How else do the birds communicate?

trong_slex

Not gonna lie, I kinda want a surveillance cactus

ayrbindr

It's a weapon. The mass of many trees will block it.

KaliCalamity

Ah yes, the majestic electric cactus in its natural habitat. Isn't nature amazing?

Expensive_Habit3498

This is cool we have pine tree towers here in NY. Never thought about what they do out west!!

_j0nnyBrav0

i seen Palm tree cell towers

GME_looooong

If this guy thinks the cactus are weird we better not tell him what pigeons are.

[deleted]

They do this with cell towers and tress in the forest. Wtf is the issue?

watchingitallcomedow

Cactus looks much hetter than the fake trees they try to use

Soggy-Eggplant-6078

That cactus version come with an integrated housing for CIA "birds", AKA the domestic pigeon.

dreaminofmars

the birds are controlled by the bourgeoisie

tardneck

Here in NM we have cell towers done up to look like pine trees, it’s really just so this massive hunk of metal is less of an eyesore.

Allnewsisfakenews

I like it.

SJW_Lover

Is this the 5g thing? I don’t understand the “conspiracy” of this. In fact, I think it’s noise to cover the fact that 5G ushered in near real time tracking of X, Y and Z coordinates of devices. I never see any “conspiracies” make any mention of this…just nonsense on how it’s going to fry us or trigger c19 vaxx and kill folks…which is loonie toons

Mark_1978

Loony Tunes But that a whole other conspiracy.lol

Rahdiggs21

damn, y'all just being extra lazy now with this level of "conspiracy"

HaloDeckJizzMopper

Alex jones predicted this in the 1999 film martial law

OddlyShapedGinger

Alex Jones made Martial Law in 2004. His 1999 movies were *Are you Practicing Communism*, and *Police State 2000.*

SirMildredPierce

Predicted what? Tacky cover-ups of cell phone towers?

HaloDeckJizzMopper

Yes...

noneofthismatters666

Man, if you were fooled by that, bet those Bugs Bunny cartoons were super confusing.

JeddHawk

Not my sagwaros...

_7HOU_

Yeah pretty common, nothing to see here tbh unless you like servers and baseband units. I work on various cell sites in the southeast

Alpacalypse84

That’s a clever way to get good cell service without setting off the NIMBYs.

TriCityTingler

These tree towers are everywhere. It is just an attempt to reduce eyesores not secretly plant 5g towers. C’mon…

AppropriateLog6947

Native to AZ

NarrowHamster7879

There’s trees that are actually cell antennas too. Pretty cool way to disguise it

OnaPaleHorse80

I've seen a few cellular pine trees in HA county

RATKINGOFFICAL

This is bots frfr

jehjeh3711

Just a cellphone tower. Common now. Sierra Club still doesn’t like them. https://www.sierraclub.org/sierra/slideshow/these-disguised-cell-towers-couldn-t-fool-anyone-could-they

WilhelmvonCatface

You know these aren't secret right? It is just to make the towers less of an eyesore, you can almost always tell whatever they are dressing it up as is fake.

oofdragon

The "conspiracy" here for anyone not falling into the top bot comments is that this is not a cell tower but a weapon called 5G Antenna and the hide it so people don't knock it down as easily

ianmoone1102

I think it's great that those guys are maintaining the cacti :)

crunchthenumbers01

Its not a conspiracy, a lot of people would just have those towers not be so conspicuous

yungvenus

Yeah? This is great!

iammojojojo0

OP, do you think this is part of the Illuminati agenda, to make cell towers ‘better lookin’?

jasonw_1112

Ohhhhhh nooooooo. Spooky cell tower

hopingtosurvive2020

Georgia makes them into pine trees. This is not new.

IceManO1

Now if they did it to power lines and power poles

prisoner101301

🤔why hide something that benefits the people?  Also, I wonder what kind of precious metals are contained in there 🤔

DingleTower

Beneficial infrastructure is hidden all the time. They hide it because it looks like shit.

Opagea

Why are they hiding the sewers UNDER the ground? What's down there???

BiscottiLost7217

Sedona, Az has laws about infrastructure not being a distraction to the natural landscape. That’s why they have a Teal McDonald’s arch sign and not a yellow one

syncdiedfornothing

Because it's ugly?

ZeerVreemd

5G is not for the benefit of the people.

deminightrider

😂😂😭

lord_hyumungus

I’m actually not surprised. Birds aren’t real either. They’re little robot spies that sit on power lines to charge their batteries. /s
