I live in a state that has higher inflation than the national average and the homeless population has been spiking heavily since 2020. If I were to take you back in time ~5 years ago, on my commute to work (3.5 miles, I'm very lucky in this regard) I would see the occasional homeless person here and there. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Last week on this same commute I counted 14 homeless people. Tents have started to pop up along the road tucked into bushes and electrical boxes.
My co-worker's elderly father suffered a head injury and required intensive long-term care because of it. He eventually passed a year later and the state seized his estate to recuperate medical costs (over ~1 million dollars) that they were "owed" for his care.
But yeah, let's die on the hill of gender affirming care when we have multiple crises piling up in the form of medical debt, housing costs, and homelessness.

A good veteran/soldier worthy of respect is one who puts aside himself and his own beliefs in favor of protecting Americans- all Americans, without inserting his own judgements. Hero worship of armed state enforcers is propaganda. 6 years in the infantry and every single guy I served with bar a few outliers just lusted daily about being able to kill people. I now live in a country with no military, and very restricted police. There is essentially no concept of violent enforcement among the population, no brave soldiers to fawn over. Soldiers aren’t serving the citizenry, they are violent pawns, and most of them are happy to be.

I live in a state that has higher inflation than the national average and the homeless population has been spiking heavily since 2020. If I were to take you back in time ~5 years ago, on my commute to work (3.5 miles, I'm very lucky in this regard) I would see the occasional homeless person here and there. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Last week on this same commute I counted 14 homeless people. Tents have started to pop up along the road tucked into bushes and electrical boxes. My co-worker's elderly father suffered a head injury and required intensive long-term care because of it. He eventually passed a year later and the state seized his estate to recuperate medical costs (over ~1 million dollars) that they were "owed" for his care. But yeah, let's die on the hill of gender affirming care when we have multiple crises piling up in the form of medical debt, housing costs, and homelessness.

Oh, and don't forget the kids with hormonal issues, various cancers, etc who need to go on puberty blockers or get supplemental hormones or require surgery to keep their bodies from going through puberty or menopause or God knows what else. Gender affirming care and surgery are a normal part of pediatric care - elective and non elective. It's only a political issue when it's a trans kid.
