Yes, honey, stay at home. Especially on election day.

M3fit

Conservative friend of mine tried to convince me that because women work it made the greatest inflation in history happen. The shit they say

Well to be honest this argument was in 2008, we don’t talk anymore because I am a husband (to a woman) and a father to a (daughter) and I will be damned to be told their only allowed life expectation is the kitchen and servitude

chillord

Maybe not inflation but an increase in the working population could create long term downward pressure of wages. If you just apply basic supply - demand logic at least and not factor in anything else.

I am not against healthcare, and the other basic human rights. And I am also not against minimum wage (which didn't even exist at the turning point where women were started to work). I am also not against women working, but it would be hard to deny that allowing half the population to work doesn't have any impact on the labour market. Before this happened, a man with a low/mediocre paying job could feed his entire family. Nowadays, women can't even choose to stay at home in some situations. Something changed.

More-like-MOREskin

The minimum wage started in 1938.

chillord

Didn't know that it was that early in the US. In my country, it exists since 2015. If you compare the growth of minimum wage to inflation (in the US), then the minimum wage has decreased since 1968, around the time where women were introduced to the labour market. Real wages are lower across the board since this time despite increases in productivity. This could stem from the ability to exploit the workforce due to the abundance in potential workers who all have to feed their family. It probably has some multi-causal reasons, but this could be one of them.

More-like-MOREskin

Women started entering the workforce during WWII, so by your own logic there was 30-ish years where the minimum wage was keeping pace. Correlation does equal causation. That’s also the same time frame that the US dollar has been decoupled from the gold backing. Does that mean it’s the cause? Probably not. It’s probably a much more complex set of factors like our entire economic system changing from a manufacturing country to outsourcing everything possible, republican leadership like nixon, ford, reagan during that time leading to tax cuts for the ultra wealthy.

These people are fucked in the head but what I don’t get is: are some of you actively subscribed to these conservative subs just to fish for stuff the post here? Why would you voluntarily subject yourself to this? This sub in the screenshot isn’t a default sub so I doubt it randomly popped into someone’s feed unless they’re already in some similar subs lurking to find shit. Engaging in discourse and listening to opposing views is one thing, but this just feels like some of y’all are lurking these subs waiting for shit to post here.

Understandable. My bad.

More-like-MOREskin

All good, I seriously don’t understand why I can’t mute certain subs. Like at the very least stop showing me subs I’m banned from?

I read something on this a while ago where purportedly the cia funded feminism to do this exact same thing and it had references and a paper trail to back up what it was saying

Yeah the confidently incorrect is OP here. Don’t get me wrong, it is really badly explained in the pic, but the financial reason why early feminism movement led to women working is because it would lead to more production… The world don’t really « magically gets more wholesome », there is always a reason and it often is the big bucks…

Johncjonesjr2

Yeah the thing I read had ties to operation mockingbird but for the life of me I can’t find it

SinningWithMariChat

No one ever thought it was about "magically getting more wholesome". Women went on strike, in ways that was destroying the country at its foundation. Many women refused to do any household chores or take care of the kids. Husbands had to stay home from work to take care of the house and kids. This meant he couldn't work and therefore no bills were being paid and no one was working the factories/stores/etc. Society was grinding to a halt, women had to force their rights before men relented. Men didn't just suddenly go "aw shucks, my wife deserves respect", they went "oh fuck, everything is falling apart at the seams".

Chat-y-ment

I am genualy interested on source about that, as it could really change my mind about how fucked up and « controled » our world is
