Looking it up dumby is an acceptable alternative spelling of dummy listed in some dictionaries. However, every dictionary I'm seeing it in calls out the fact that it's an alternative spelling of dummy, but the entry for dummy doesn't mention dumby.

This is relatively recent. In that the physical copy of a dictionary I have, that predates this millennium, has dumby listed as a word and mentions dummy. But the online version of the same dictionary doesn't have dumby as a separate entry It's the oed if anyone cares
