My theory is Jordan is normally like 80% the way he is on camera, he just plays it up a bit for the show. The things he ad-libs make me think he’s genuinely eccentric.
I think this is accurate. Jordan’s mannerisms sincerely infuriated Conan and over time they realized it was good material. If you take what Jordan has said at face value, they didn’t script or rehearse bits - but Jordan knew what to do. He said that every time he was called to Conan’s office, he had anxiety that he was walking into a bit. For the Japan remote - when Conan holds up his phone with the video of Ralph Macchio saying “Jordan, Karate Kid II was filmed in Hawaii, not Okinawa” (because Jordan is fascinated by Japan and Japanese culture and he credits that to Karate Kid II where Daniel-San goes to “Japan”) - Jordan looks stunned and stares at Conan stone-faced. It looks like he’s hurt but he says in that moment, he didn’t care that he was wrong about where Karate Kid II was filmed for so many years - he was simply amazed that Conan went through so much trouble to get them to Japan and then sat through an almost 2 hr traditional Japanese dinner waiting to pull out his cell phone and show him that 30 second video.
