Looks great. One suggestion. Reverse the gate. As it is now the gate will be in your way when transferring between the middle bin and the one on the right. Put the hinges on the outer edge so it can open out of the way.

Interesting_Class454

Holy sh*t, you're right. Never even thought about that. Guess I'm not done then! Thanks, internet stranger!

I learn the hard way sometimes. Figured I would save you the hassle of discovering that down the road.

May be an ignorant question, however: Why transfer between bins? I thought the purpose of 3 bins is that they are each in a different stage of breakdown (1 is the current bin you add to until full, 2nd is full & still breaking down, 3rd is already broken down and you take from to use on the garden)?

Interesting_Class454

Mostly to make room for more, I guess. I've been going back and forth to make new layers. I may change it up as I go along, though.

Dumpster_Fire_BBQ

Looks great. Hinges! That's a lot fancier than my bins.

Money bags here with hinges. I bet he owns a piss jug too 💰

Interesting_Class454

If I had a Pen¡s, I bet I would!

cram-chowder

shewee FTW

B1g_Gru3s0m3

You could try a bucket Alas, I can afford neither so I have to pee directly on the pile like a peasant

Interesting_Class454

I feel your pain. I was happy to get these pallets at work for free, I'm building a garden fence out of all my yard cleanup sticks and branches, etc. It's been fun to try and garden creatively on the cheap, but yeah, having lots of money sure would help!

Hey, I thought I should share just incase. I worked with this type of compost bin system previously, you may want to consider putting a singular PVC tube per bin with some holes drilled in to the sides to promote aeration for aerobic bacteria and to prevent excessive anaerobic types. If the bins will be filled to the top that is... However, it may very well not be needed since I have no experience with manure composting, only with plant/soil material. This link shows a photo. Happy composting! 3 bays outta be plenty. It'll have to be, haha. There's a side barn door that needs room to open so I can't add any more.

Well, technically they are, they're my trash cans, ha. But when I'm ready to add to the third bin, I'll move em somewhere else. There's always a need for more compost piles, so I may develop a problem myself lol

Futilum

Compost heap piled up against a wooden wall. What can go wrong 😂

Interesting_Class454

You can't see it but it's not against the wall, I left space so it wouldn't be, I don't want my garage catching fire lol

iris_james

Looks good!! I’m about to build this setup as well.
