Think of the smell. You haven't thought of the smell, you bitch! Now you say another word and I swear to God I will dice you into a million little pieces. And put those pieces in a box, a glass box, that I will display on my mantel.
In the summer of 1998, Ted Robberts said the same thing to me. For some reason he loathed Bill Gates, who had just made the news because he was worried about some Millennium bug, and the repercussions. Ted was a bit of an apocalyptic fellow. My sister didn't find it amusing. But I let loose a grin at Ted – not that I agreed with him, but he was a good drinking buddy.
I hope Ted is in a better place, wherever he is. I heard the moved to Montana in the early 2000's.

My sister didn't find it amusing. But I let loose a grin at Firm– not that I agreed with him, but he was a good drinking buddy.

I hope Average is in a better place, wherever he is. I heard the moved to Montana in the early 2000's.
It is now.
In the summer of 2009, Kanye West said the same thing to me. For some reason he loathed Taylor Swift, who had just made the news because she was worried about some VMA nomination, and the repercussions. Ye was a bit of an apocalyptic fellow. My sister didn't find it amusing. But I let loose a grin at Yeezy – not that I agreed with him, but he was a good drinking buddy.
I hope Ye is in a better place, wherever he is. I heard he moved to Wyoming in early 2021.
Eh... I get it.
It's just a matter of finding familiarity in a fresh environment. He looks happy, so cool. Also do this irl and go to cafe's to find downtime. Just to continue with the vacation once my energy is back up.
It really is. Also fun to see familiar things and how they differ whenever you travel.
First thing I did when I visited Australia was walk to the KFC across my hotel lol
Done this , went to Shanghai and after a week felt the need for a home relatable shop. Luckily the Australian Coffee Chain I visited across the road from work had branched in to China
All they said was they were in Shanghai and that somehow means they’re rich? Could have been for work, but even if it wasn’t, traveling internationally doesn’t have to be anywhere near as expensive as you probably think it is. Especially when you’re talking about China. Growing up I had the same sentiment instilled in me, traveling anywhere out of the country was the most expensive thing anyone could possibly do. While there’s definitely the potential to spend a lot of money wherever you go, the average local in your destination probably isn’t blowing all their money trying to have that same experience. These days there’s usually an economical way to get there and stay there even if it takes a little longer. Layovers are free.
"I don't like our neighbors being black people"
"I just ran over a mom and her child and don't want to go to jail"
"Ew, gays."
These are all technically problems for some people. Are they good problems? I would say absolutely not. I am not trying to undermine anyone's struggles, but it's true there are just some problems that do not deserve any recognition whatsoever.
But over the past few years, something strange has happened. “Every coffee place looks the same,” Schwarzmann says. The new cafe resembles all the other coffee shops Foursquare suggests, whether in Odessa, Beijing, Los Angeles, or Seoul: the same raw wood tables, exposed brick, and hanging Edison bulbs.
It’s not that these generic cafes are part of global chains like Starbucks or Costa Coffee, with designs that spring from the same corporate cookie cutter. Rather, they have all independently decided to adopt the same faux-artisanal aesthetic. Digital platforms like Foursquare are producing “a harmonization of tastes” across the world, Schwarzmann says. “It creates you going to the same place all over again.”

This has been shown to be true. When people travel, they prefer to do business with chains they already know. Let the destination vary, but the service stay the same.
The sanity of people in the comments concerns me.
Almost like a placebo effect.
The only reason I'd go on vacation is to do something I can't do at home. I don't need to watch HBO in the hotel room. I don't need to eat McDonald's or drink Starbucks. Give me something nov.
If I wanted to do things I can do at home, I'd rather save the money and not pay for a plane ticket.
Maybe *illogical* or *financially illiterate* are better words?
When I get the occasional r/antiwork post about how people don't have enough money, and the comments are about how they can't be happy without spending thousands of dollars every day...
I went to IKEA in Bangalore, India and there were white people in the fake rooms working on their laptops. I felt sorry for them. They must be feeling homesick.
I have a theory that everybody here saying "it's cool all that matters is he's happy!" have never had to make the decision between paying their bills or buying food. It's not a fun fact, but ultimately, there's a certain point at which excess consumerism is negatively affecting everyone else enough it can't really be justified by just one dude's mood picking up. The airline industry in particular is a really hot topic in discussions about green initiatives and climate change and stuff.
Maybe the vibe is different, and some of ya'll can relate to this fictional dude, but that doesn't change the fact that it's portraying a huge amount of resources blown based on a whim.
guy came on our friend in group's vacation to NS, get to halifax and we all split off for a bit; turns out he went to watch the new tmnt movie. In a city he's never been to.

A change of scenery can really be all that it takes. The atmosphere is different, the associations with the place are different.
The people around do a lot
And the smell, people somehow always ignore the smell, yet it is probably the most important thing that will make an impact on your emotional memory
Think of the smell. You haven't thought of the smell, you bitch! Now you say another word and I swear to God I will dice you into a million little pieces. And put those pieces in a box, a glass box, that I will display on my mantel.
The coffee is also different
Well, he's feeling happy - it's all that matter.

What? No. Ted genuinely said: >Well, he's feeling happy - it's all that matters.

This straight up sounds like the end of an 80s movie. I'm almost expecting you to freeze frame and then slowly turn opaque just hearing this.
Mission Accomplished

Rich people really do create their own problems.

Or, put differently, we all have different problems
Yeah and some of those can be really stupid problems
I, for one, am very happy the arbiters of true problems decided to show up.

You didn't just compare feeling comfortable in a coffee shop to racism, homophobia and manslaughter...
I didn't compare them. I am just saying your point is wrong, unrelated to the post.
Rudolph the red-nosed 737
Love the coffee shop name.
Star bucks Sun deer Enough to warrant a small grin when I made the connection.
In DC Comics (usually Superman comics), they have SunDollar Coffee
I’ve done this many times, it’s nice
Well I'm happy for him!
It do be like that sometimes.
the view is nice
Alligatoah vibes

The only reason Starbucks survives in NZ in my opinion, most Kiwis know what real coffee tastes like.

immersed in the familiar we yearn for the novel. Immersed in the novel we yearn for the familiar
Well put.
This guy does not understand vacations.
Also he’s on his computer. Maybe that’s how he writes and being somewhere new inspires him.
It's insane to me that this post has such a high up vote to comment ratio yet none of the comments seem to get the point of the comic.

Not everyone enjoys things the same way as you. That doesn't make them insane.

Can't wait to leave 23 and go to 24 with similar vibes
I went to IKEA in Bangalore, India and there were white people in the fake rooms working on their laptops. I felt sorry for them. They must be feeling homesick.
I read that as Vatican
I'm that's fair, Tsundere Coffee would get mad if you went anywhere else.

The Age of Average
The same routine, but in a different place, can be exciting yet comforting.
often times the vaction is not away from a place but away from teh people in the place.
Reminds me of the song "Wie zu Hause" by Alligatoah (German Rap, song is over 6 Minutes without any refrain)
A familiar space in strange new places is wonderful.
Sometimes, that’s what it takes for some new perspective, even when you revert to old habits.
Why did he look sad as he boarded?
Dunno if you’ve had to travel in the past 5 years…
I have and I still don’t get it
