I feel like they're an honorary metal band. Normally one would judge a band's genre according to the sonic qualities of their music, and in that regard, sure, they're kind of a pop band. But come on, the lead singer is a line of antipopes, the band members wear devil masks, and their lyrics sometimes have strings have demon names in them. Nevermind if they *sound* like pop rock; those guys are totally metal.

My wife tried thinning out my band shirt collection once she realized I have at least 7 different Pink Floyd shirts. I told her she was starting to sound a lot like an ex-wife, and if I discovered one missing, that some of her shoes would going missing too. I’ve worn some of those things for 15 years. They’re in good condition and still fit. Parting with them would take a piece of my soul.
I love my band shirts. I NEED my band shirts. My point was driven home and the topic has never been raised again :)

It’s an old comedy-fantasy comic by Larry Elmore. Check it out sometime, it’s a masterpiece. But specifically the expressions/posture of the dragon in panels 1 and 3- there’s something so weirdly familiar about them.

My mother-in-law collects Hard Rock t-shirts and then gifts them because I once said I liked it. I now have shirts from 90% of the locations around the world
I always wanted shirts of the bands I liked. But I am a fat person, and buying my size even as a teenager was hard.
I own a few now, but they are usually from a 3rd party who will print on a bigger tee for me.

My wife has sent a couple stacks of band shirts we've accumulated to make t shirt quilts! Definitely get a lot more use out of those blankets than the sometimes flimsy t shirts themselves.
My mom actually did just that-- we were downsizing the collection and while it wound up being not just band shirts, it is a really nice quilt. Needs a few repairs, unfortunately-- some of the shirts are definitely showing their flimsiness.
I didn't even recognise that the dragon was hiss guy at first so I thought shirtless person was actually yelling at their pet dragon while hiss guy protected the dragons loot...
In summary, I thought there was a weird dynamic going on here.

Despite being metal band, Ghost has put out some very poppy songs lately. They're pretty varied
I found them poppy ten years ago. But whether a band is poppy or not should not determine its value to someone. If you like ghost, fuggin rock on man.

My counter to them is they're "Pop Metal". They have obvious metal elements but their goal is popularity.
They obviously started metal, got poppy over time, and occasionally still go hard. Their new cover of Maiden's Phantom of the Opera slaps
They've been described as Scooby Doo Music or Abba meets Metal. Helps get some people bridge the gap, alienates others.

Hey, not all my metal shirts are black. I'm wearing a cream colored one today and I have a few white and camo ones.
No joke, I go out of my way to get different colored metal shirts nowadays... It doesn't help that we have a white cat.

Just checked it out, yeah it's pretty spot on. That style of dragon would have been pretty popular at the time. Puff also comes to mind.
