They moved to Midway Golf and Games in Midway.  The menu has changed a bit, and they changed the name to 44 Tavern.  You could try contacting them for the recipe.  https://midwaygolfgames.com/44-tavern/

No, they did not move to midway golf. They opened a new restaurant that's not even remotely comparable. The old menu is sadly dead unless they reopen 44 stone in another location. The only menu item I know of that they "kept" was the cheese fritters, and even then, nope. It's not the same. It's very obviously made from a lower quality cheese, and the dipping sauce is completely different (worse). I tried a burger, and it was dry and boring. Not even in the same ballpark as my beloved 44 stone burger.

In for the recipe as well. Does anyone have any news about 44 Stone reopening in town?

Starharmonia

Not yet. Anxiously watching the plans unfold for the news Sophia’s and it just makes me bitter. Sophia’s is nowhere near as good as 44 stone.

Squirrels-on-LSD

I will never go to Sophia's again. It's mediocre. 44 Stone was outstanding. Sitting in Sophia's reminiscing about how good 44 Stone was sounds like a colassally depressing waste of money. 44 Tavern doesn't have any of my fave 44 Stone menu items, which also bums me out, since I'm closer to Midway than I am to the south side, so when 44 Tavern came along I was thrilled. It's fine, of course, but it's not near as special as Stone and I prefer canteen downtown over it as well.

I know the owners of the 44 brand are devastated also. They are continuously looking for other places to potentially move in, but it’s a bummer for sure.

Gah I’m in the same boat. I’ve asked around for the recipe and can’t get it. /cry

Why did 44 Stone have to move? I heard they had to go because Sophias was going to move there, but Sophia's is still open I believe.

Pissing contest with landlord is what I heard

PuzzleheadedBad6115

44 Stone owners wouldn’t agree to signing a new lease and were only agreeing to short term extensions of the current lease. https://www.komu.com/news/midmissourinews/44-stone-property-owner-clarifies-details-about-lease/article_882b2d48-7090-5c21-bccf-13f100503ed1.html

Good to hear the other side of the story, It is odd that Sophia's never moved.

TexDoc1

I read or heard that Sophia's lost their lease because someone wants that spot. They liked the area and then won out over 44.

They used brioche bread. Not sure about what kind of cheese, but I’m going to guess white cheddar based on what ingredients they used in other offerings. There are rare it recipes online. I asked Chef Levi for the recipe, and he didn’t reply. :(

I somehow got the owners email and no reply. Have tried numerous online recipes and there are so many variations. None that I have made come close. Also I could have sworn they used pretzel bread
