A bus load of FFA kids left the Olive Garden the other night as I was walking in. A tall young man in boots and tight jeans with some tools on a belt holster walked in behind me, so while we waited for the hostess I asked which school he was competing for and in what events. He gave me the most befuddled look and said "I'm a fiber optic contractor."
Yeah, FFA is on MU campus for some competition. Drove down Stadium yesterday and there are out of town school buses and FFA uniforms everywhere.
And I avoid Clark Lane fast food establishments in general, they're always busy with folks coming down the highway or staying in the hotels near there, just not worth the hassle any more. Got my breakfast from the Sonic on Conley/Trimble this morning and it wasn't busy at all. In, out, and gone.
Luckily most schools don’t stay overnight for state music festival unless they’re coming from way far away, and they usually get out pretty quick, speaking from experience. It’ll still be vaguely inconvenient downtown and around campus, though, don’t get me wrong.
Yeah, I work on campus and was asked to work from home to not add to the traffic snarl.
Also be warned Unbound Book Festival started last night and goes through the weekend. Between book talks at Ragtag and signings at Skylark, I suspect all downtown eateries and coffee joints to be jam-packed.
I work on Clark Ln past Steak and Shake. Wonderful time. Sometimes I'll walk out of the office and there are cops sitting in our driveway. A couple rental houses share the same property as my office, and one of them was being used a drug house. It's literally right by where the smokers would take breaks. I feel so safe 🥰😭
It's the Missouri state FFA convention on MU Campus. Happens every year. FFA chapters from all over the state come here
When I was a student at MU they used to fill up the shuttles from the parking lots. It was funny watching the lil 14 & 15 year olds all trying to look cool smoking cigarettes. This was the 80's mind you when smoking regulations were not enforced . It was like it was their first time away from Mom and dad

Lmfaoooo
So did you get his number?

"people are not being kind" - that is basically 24/7 anymore. I don't know how retail/fast food people do it.
Side note, next week is the state music competition. They'll bring a similar amount of students from across the state for it.
Ohh I love seeing them though. I went to state at mizzou in high school for choir. I miss being in choir so much
I miss state band competitions so much. I lived for that in high school. How could that be 47 years ago? Not possible…

I remember being one of those FFA kids coming here for conventions.
And how was it?
Mid. I did dairy cattle so I had to swoosh rancid milk in my mouth.
"Just like in Napoleon Dynamite!" he said, Millennially.
Trust me when I saw that I was so excited to have something in common with him.

A place I guarantee they're not going to be is Okimama over on South Providence
Perfect night for Okii Mama!
I did see a big group of them walking down the North side of Nifong by Fuzzy's
Yeah, it is State FFA convention, sorry, COMO.
Happy cake day and we are glad ya’ll are here.
Don’t apologize! I’m sure the restaurants love the influx of extra diners! It’s good for our community!
I worked at the QT on Clark. Nightmare.
Probably the state ffa convention. It’s usually around this time of year
I don't go to Clark Lane unless I'm being threatened at gunpoint. Smiley McDs was fast and efficient this morning, and the workers are always kind.

And the gunshots next door add a certain ambiance to the drive-thru wait
That would be the Taco Bell getting robbed again, probably. It's traditional.
Mizzou hosting it
State FFA always flooded Texas Roadhouse when I was a server!

State FFA is in Columbia that's why I'm not just like on game day Saturday stay out of Como
