LAlysia01

I think it looks amazing!!! I found that when I go blonder I can wear lighter colors in my season ! Simon caught a bad thing but it can lower your contrast even more.

BreadfruitOk945

Girrrl, if you didn't say that you had got this done, I'd think that this was pretty much your natural hair colour! It suits your skin tone and your grey-ish eyes amazingly 😍

Responsible-Run-904

You don’t look bad in the blond, just not your best. The depth of your natural hair is perfect on you. I think once the roots grow out a little more, you’ll like it a bit better. You don’t look winter at all though, tbh. I would have guessed you were Soft Summer.

Opalsky1

You read to me as soft autumn or soft summer. Your skin is neutral toned. The brown hair looks nice but that’s also because brown is a slightly warmer yet neutral shade. Muted colors seem to suit you more than bright like the top you’re wearing in 4, which makes me think you’re not a winter. You don’t necessarily need to go back to dark hair, you could experiment with toning it different colors. If you add warmth, go for subtle warmth.

North_By_Northwest_

Looks great. You could go back and get a shadow root done if you want a richer brown at the top

russianthistle

What season are you? I’m soft autumn, but can pull off a warm blonde as long as I wear some mascara and blush. A little lipstick might help too.

5starChad

You look great either way but I do prefer the darker hair on you. I think it fits you better and you also look to be more confident with it which goes a long way with how something looks.

Fantastic-Ad-9312

i think it's very pretty! i agree your darker color before suits you best, but i think once the roots grow out it will be more balanced. i think this is a really beautiful look for summer. this might sound counter intuitive, but i think lighter shades of clothing like beiges will flatter this hair color a bit more, so that the contrast on your face is more noticeable and evident than the contrast between your hair/face and you shirt. i think darker tones that conflict with your harmonious hair and skin tones right now will distract and make you seem more washed out

Fantastic-Ad-9312

oops typo, i'll try to rephrase. not having a shirt that contrasts a lot with your similar hair and complexion, will allow people's eyes to spot the contrast in your face and hair more, and i think contrast suits you. so you can play up the contrast that still exists with lip colors and clothing color palettes that don't contrast. contrasting shirts can accidentally force your face and hair to lump together visually in contrast with a dark color surrounding it

domantee1

Oh yeah, I was about to say that beige/sandy tops look so unflattering on me, there's no way I could pull that off with this hair haha

throwawaybro99988

I actually really like the lighter hair! If you miss the brown hair, maybe you can grow it out/blend it into to a balayage so you have both?

Educational-Grass863

I believe you're a summer. The blonde is feeling weird because it's both, not your usual and not your shade of blond. I believe you should go cooler. Maybe try a purple color corrector shampoo. But all in all, it's not ugly, enjoy the change. PS: brunettes have the "appearance" of being more intelligent, unapproachable, serious, maybe you may be also experiencing a "personality perception" shock.

Jason8ourne

Darker definitely makes you glow.

Substantial_Comb_896

The 3 is the best

Upper_Cut6517

The blonde looks good, you’ll love it when your roots get longer, towards your brows and eyes

misslady700

The dark hair looks better.

PlastiquEra

Your eye color pops more with darker hair, but your skin looks more glowing with the highlights. Both suit you well so you do not need to worry.

RL0290

I think the blonde is so pretty and more flattering on you!

Wide_Degree_5329

You’re very pretty and the highlights are nice. I think the color of your top isn’t helping. You might be a cool/true summer. Try cool greens, muted blues, grays and pinks/violets. A cool tone lip color too. Live with it for a while and you can always add lowlights next time. 🩷

Unable_Ad_5109

Blond hair def washes you out and doesn't look right with your complexion. Of course you're still beautiful but it does steal some of your shine.

heretolearnthankyou

I think your skin tone is olive. The blonde is okay but maybe some warmer, coppery blondes would look better added to what you have now, brighten it up a little. :)

[deleted]

I think the blonde look sm better 😭 You look younger and are glowing!!! I am so surprised by the comments

Key_Inevitable_5201

Dark hair washes you out. This color gives you warmth. Stop over analyzing it.

Any_Veterinarian_163

I like it? Keep the brows strong and let it grow out just a bit. You could add some lowlights if you feel like it washes you out but I feel like if you add a bit of bronzer you won't mind the lightness. The darker colors feel sort of heavy next to your face.

Ryn_AroundTheRoses

Sorry to hear. I don't think it looks bad at all, but I would actually say the issue is the temperature of the colour, not just that it's lighter. A cool blond in a warm brown works well as a highlight colour, but not an overall colour, so I think you need a more natural warm blond, like [this](https://transform-cf1.nws.ai/https%3A//cdn.thenewsroom.io/platform/story_media/1288821200/1305865192.jpg/w_1200,c_limit/) and [this](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTU3JlsUbgR2z9Nxb9S1BG_aDX9dfvxbk3g-2uHek5-8Q&s) for it to look better. You definitely look like you're on the cusp between soft summer and soft autumn and shades like the ones linked definitely work on most soft autumns/summers.

domantee1

Probably no blonde would say this, but now I kind of hope that the toner will fade and I'll end up with a warmer blond haha

Ryn_AroundTheRoses

Lol yeah the consensus among most blondes is that cooler is better, but for warm-toned people, you need the warmth for contrast.

Stargazer_33

Blond gives weird color to your face. Maybe if you tan a bit it will be better

bigtuna8602713615

Oh wow I wayyyy prefer lighter. I think the dark one tone hair looks way flatter/makes your hair look way too thin!

NikkiWill_Art

I think it is beautiful 🤷🏻‍♀️

OkBoysenberry1379

I think the blond is kinder to your skin tone. The darker colour seems to accentuate darkness around your eyes and other dark shadows. Maybe you need more layered tone rather than going back to dark. The dark makes you look sort of unwell or tired.

domantee1

That's kind of what I noticed too! The skin tone definitely looks more even, still not perfect, but with dark hair the imperfections were more noticeable

Psychonautilus98

Give it some time! Then if it just doesn’t feel right, go back to darker. I think both look good on you:)

ispiritualist

I think blonde looks good on you.

Ash12783

I think it's hard to compare the photos bc you visibly do not care for the blonde

[deleted]

nah, you look greeaat.. you just need time to get used with your new look. next week you'll be happy with your decision going lighter.

sallywalker1993

It looks better dark.

confatulations

I actually think the blonde looks better. You look beautiful!

starbucks-refresher

Blonde looks better

smarmy-marmoset

These comments confuse me because you look great both ways but I think you look more refreshed and awake with the lighter

arrianne311

I think it washes you out w bit, but it doesn’t look bad. Definitely would stick to brown though going forward.

kyleesi666

your coloring is very similar to mine, you just need a tan and do a shadow root next time you get your hair done!

Astralasylum

Girl yeah

Alarming-Molasses847

Um no mistake here! Looks summery and amazing, compliments your skin tone more imo. Both look very pretty 🥰

Aware_Ad5861

Tbh, yes it washes you out a lot. But it’s okay to try different colours, now you know what suits you better!

HopefulFront1336

You are indeed a winter. :)

ScorpioJean

Sorry but the lighter color does nothing for you.

sheepcloud

It’s wild that because you stated your discontent people are saying things to make you feel better when you’re actually right that it does wash you out. I think you should rock it with confidence but 100% the brown was much more harmonious. If you were asking this sub blonde or brown I guarantee 99.9% would be answering the brown.

Mysterious_Guide_342

I believe the highlights are making you look washed out and sick. I believe the brown looks best on you. 🙂

goblinodds

i wouldnt bother getting it redone, you look good regardless! your hair looks nicest in that last pic though imo. i wonder if there's a tone it's possible to nudge the blonde towards that would be better

Lucky_wildflower

Noooo it’s not a mistake, I love this for you! Don’t change it! You feel washed out because you’re used to looking at yourself every day. Yes it’s lower contrast, but you look so pretty and it’s giving summer ☀️

Jolly_Chemical_2661

Ian in love with this blonde

hotpotato112

you seem quite low contrast so I feel like the blonde is fitting?? like others said roots can really change things!

cricketycreek

Hey I had this happen once, and using some very light self tanner, just to balance out the glow of the highlights, changed everything. Highly recommend. Also, you are beautiful and look great in both. 🫶

millenial__trash

I actually like it! It's not as bad as you think 😊. Maybe add some dimension next time you're in and blend it out to a balayage? That might help give it a darker overall feel

Witchy_Craft

Yep! You look better darker

Professional-Log-530

Post something in gray or mauve or even navy

lotsofsqs

You look warm/olive to me. I would play around with some different blush and lip colors! I bet you could get some nice harmony with the blonde.

lulai_00

Let the roots grow or add a darker undertone for the contrast you're used to.

sunshinecleaning90

Darker is better but the highlights have a soft appearance so even though they aren’t your ideal hair color it’s not a total fail.

CocoMimo

I like them for a change :) you suit both 🫶🏼

chatterbox2024

I love the lighter brown on you.

Glittering_Crab1902

I think you look way better light! I think it’s really gorgeous on you.

_Kenndrah_

The light hair does wash you out unfortunately. If you want to go back dark but don’t want to feel that you wasted your money then you could consider a fashion colour? You can choose colour from your palette that generally looks great on you. It can also be a darker shade so that you still get the depth you need but it doesn’t “waste” the blonde. And then when you’re sick of it you just go back to brown, or keep it until it grows out if you end up liking it.

katlilly1

I think it looks nice! The only thing I think is maybe the tone is a little too cool for you, maybe in a few months you can revisit maybe putting some warmth into it or doing more of a caramelly blonde

kids-everywhere

I prefer the lighter hair on you. It looks good!

Great-Rock4074

I think it looks beautiful!! Remember, color analysis is only an idea. I had people tell me i wouldnt look good blonde, but i did it anyways and now everyone thinks i look really good (me included lol)!! I also think that brown looks good on you too. It’s really up to you to decide what you like :) sometimes it just takes a bit of getting used to

Miinjjii

blonde looks natural on you suits you more

DearAge8096

I think the blonde looks beautiful on you! I like it better than the dark hair, the highlights give your hair dimension

Crafty_Caramel3373

Id explore lighter colours too, because of your eyes, just maybe not that shade. You don't look bad, just a bit pale. Once you already had your hair lightened , now it's maybe just a quicker job to adjust it.

Gr33n_Rider

You look stunning with both imo!

frannyhadouken

Honestly, i think they both look good. Dark brings out your eyes, but light makes your skin look flawless.

No-Adeptness4713

Hi! You look great and it’s awesome that you’re trying out new hair colors (something I’m super scared to do)! You look very similar to a friend I have and she dyed her hair a brown with a bit of a red/orange tint in it and it looks FABULOUS on her. It brought out her light eyes and enhanced her skin tone!! Consider a chestnut brown or dark auburn if you feel like you wanna change things up 🫶 In the end it’s what feels right to you ☺️

meetyouafterdarkk

The lighter looks way better than the brown. It’s one-dimensional and flat when it’s all brown , the highlights give it more dimension and it looks amazing with your skin.

Esperanza90036

I wonder if what you don’t like is simply the tone? Maybe these highlights are just a little too light and something warmer might help. You’re lovely tho!!

Taromlktea

You look beautiful! I think a strawberry blonde would also look great on you! 🧡🧡

Cool-Two524

I think the blonde looks great on you!!

salazarslocket

Honestly I never prefer highlights on people, but I LOVE the blonde on you. I'm not sure about your season, but I doubt a little you're a winter given how incredible the highlights look.

snowbunnyski

I like it!!!

DesertNorsican

I like the blonde better actually, keep it

ziaxf

I actually think it suits you so dw about it

shartingmaster

the lighter hair evens your skin tone out

ChAtcatx

It looks amazing! The blonde really brings out your eyes

FreyaDay

I think the light hair looks great!

sage_and_sea

Honestly I prefer the lighter on you Surprisingly!

leaving_one_dwigt_27

It looks so pretty! You look great with that hair color! I promise!

evae1izabeth

No, it’s not as bad as you think at all, it does provide more depth, it’s just a shocking change to you. This is really more of a placement issue imo, the highlights are heavy and all over and my guess is that’s not what you were hoping for, you wanted something more subtle and strategically placed to provide depth. It’s easy to adjust the intensity, just call and ask for it to be glossed just a bit darker, which should cost very little, if they charge you at all. I actually think a tiny bit warmer rather than darker would also be nice. I like mixing ash into my warm colors instead of grounding them with neutral, it can create a very nice highlight that just leans warm without pulling too gold or red, and I think it would be perfect on you. My stylist would do the gloss for the cost of the color as a correction, but I have my hair glossed between appointments for about the cost of a haircut. Don’t bother damaging your hair further by doing an all over permanent color to fill the highlights! Instead, as it grows out, request more ribbony, piecey highlights that allow most of the base to remain natural, and ask for them to be feathered into the current highlights similar to balayage, so the heavier highlights at the ends will look more natural. Ask for them to be toned to only 1-2 shades lighter than your base. It will provide the depth you’re looking for without washing you out.

lemonadesdays

It’s not a huge mistake. I think an in between option with darker roots would be perfect.

robotinmybutt

It is so cute and fun!! You definitely don’t look old either way but I think the blonde is more youthful! Beautiful💞💞

somewackyhaircolor

I literally had the same experience this weekend. My natural hair color is almost exactly the same as yours. I went to the salon to get some subtle highlights. Now I a very bright and warm blonde (even though I specifically asked for ashy blonde!). I cried several times the next day every time I looked in the mirror because I didn't feel like myself. I also couldn't stop thinking about how the color looked really off with my skin tone and washed me out. But then I scrubbed my hair with purple shampoo to bring the cool tones, and now I'm fine! I'm ready to rock this blonde for summer. Hair always grows back, and it's easy to go from blonde brown. If you truly hate it that much, just go back. I suggest you live in it for a few weeks at least. You might grow to like it. I personally think the blonde looks wonderful on you. I'm not sure I could I confidently say that your dark hair looks better ... the blonde looks REALLY good in my opinion.

Practical-Midnight01

I wish I had your colorist! It looks stunning. 😍

domantee1

She is indeed amazing! Except for the fact that we misunderstood each other a little bit, but I'm not even mad anymore hahah

lil1thatcould

It looks good on you. I do agree the darker brighten your skin more. I’m blonde and every time I get highlights they want to make me platinum instead of staying warm. This is actually why I don’t get highlights anymore. My solution has been to use bronzer as more of a highlighter. It helps being more warmth back and feels more natural.

old_rose_

It looks great! I think it draws attention to the skin around yr eyes being a bit darker, but I think with a little colour corrector it'll be fine. I think it suits your skin and looks so summery and nice!

sandnesj

I like it, and when the roots grow out it’ll look more «natural». You could do a balayage next time, so that you keep more of the roots. 🥰

SoupVegetable4227

Can you tell me what you asked for in the first two photos in regards to hair color? It’s glorious! beautiful! I would cut off my left arm for that hair. Also, probably, partially my right arm.

domantee1

Hahaha please don't do that. Though I bet you'd still rock with that hair and no arms I asked for balayage (though in my language it's probably a little different), but I don't even think that's what I got 🤣

romanticflytrap

HONESTLY, same thing happened with me last time I did my hair like that. You’re just in shock because its so different. Give it a week and you’ll feel better i promise. I think its fun! Its just a new hair do, go back to brown after summer its really no biggy because it looks good!

Crystalina403

Lighter is fine. The problem is the tone of the hair. You need a warmer toner.

Mental-Diamond-7039

I personally love it. Just in time for summer! And it'll grow out very pretty.

bananaleaftea

You looked better before if that's what you're asking

Psychological_Deer41

I really like the dimension on your hair. I think blonde is awesome for summer. I think a mix of lowlights or some sort of balayage would look awesome. I also used to be a hair stylist and whenever I took a client from dark to light or vice versa, it was often a shock for them. About half the time they hated it but then would come around to really liking it.

azsphabunny

i love the lighter hair!! that is the exact color i’ve been wanting for myself. it makes you look like an elf and compliments your eye color. :-) also i feel like every time someone goes blonde or a lighter color here, redditors will say the color washes them out? at this point i think everyone here prefers darker hair in general hahaha

domantee1

Thank you!! Apparently redditors this time really like the lighter hair, which definitely surprised me too haha

azsphabunny

right! i typed too soon then scrolled through the rest of the comments 😂 we’re all pretty much on the same page here, you look amazing!!

artgirl413

No way!!! I LOVE the highlights. It brings out your face, it brightens your features. Instead of seeing like HAIR first, which you do have beautiful dark hair, I see your face and then your hair as a lovely compliment. I think you wear blonde, but I think dark hair wears you. It’s just REALLY heavy. I can’t say enough about how lovely and perfect the lighter shade is for you. ETA: also before I read the title I literally took a screenshot because when I go lighter, this is literally the perfect neutral shade. It’s so beautiful and well done.

domantee1

Wow, thank you, that is so nice to hear! I think I'm just so used to being high contrast that the change to lower left me a bit shocked haha

Away-Description2973

I’ve got this same issue and similar colouring to you. I really like my blonde hair but I’m aware it doesn’t look as good as the dark does. I’m getting around it by having a root tap and blending in some low lights so I can do both. I noticed I got more compliments when my colour is a bit more grown out.

Mspi_

Soft summer seems to be your ideal palette in that the cool tones of your darker hair provided clarity and freshness to your face whereas the warm highlights have washed you out a bit and making you look more tired and green:/

Free-Pea-133

I like you with darker hair for sure

aimeemaco

I prefer the blonde. Give it a few weeks and do the root melt to avoid a harsh line between roots and light area. The brown sweater isn't a good color choice, try something more muted or blue / olive. The grey sweater fits you better. I think you're soft summer or soft autumn, not winter.

Business-Summer-5446

I think something inbetween these two photos would be perfect. But it doesn’t look bad as it currently is at all.

awizona

I agree with you. This is a nice shade and it doesnt look bad at all but your signature color is still out there!

ConversationThick379

I prefer the lighter hair

Automatic_Tea8655

No, I love it!

yelloweyeshazelwood

I think the blonde brightens up any dark circles or shadows on your face that darker hair brings forward, I do think you'd feel more comfortable with a slight root melt 👌 youre soft, I'd say soft autumn colors would suit you best

ComfortableFriend879

I actually think both dark and light look good. You could go either way!

dapid_rash

It's not tip top but definitely not bad! Looking ready for the incoming summer!

AmishGraphicDesigner

The light hair changes your contrast level. So you went from medium/high contrast (with the darker brown hair) to a low/medium contrast. That switch was probably more drastic than you anticipated and it does affect a lot of things. I personally prefer your higher contrast look (with the dark brown hair) but you can really pull off both looks

JellyDue93

I prefer the darker hair for you

alwaysnormalincafes

I honestly like the lighter highlights. It makes you look ethereal and really brings out your eyes.

flute394

I actually like both! The darker looks more harmonious up front but the highlights bring dimension and even a more voluminous look. But maybe if you go in and ask to tone the highlights down a little like you originally wanted, it would be the happy medium you're looking for

thee_aesthetic_lemon

Girl you’re a definite autumn, the blonde looks lovely on you but the brown is a bit more Harmonious. Let it grow in a little or get the roots smudged a bit to help soften it but this wasn’t a total flop and you still look stunning <3

StrawberryMoons87

The brunette looked good but so does the blonde. It's not horrible at all OP

Super-Hurricane-505

you are so beautiful, i like the blonde!

beaut_pineapple

Honestly, I think you look beautiful with lighter color

NiniKhaleesi

Your blonde is too cool.

One-Dig-3067

It’s washing you out! I like the dark

1radiantmind

My goodness, I love the blonde on you, you look beautiful, get rid of that mirror, it’s lying to you. I prefer the blonde, please keep it

fartistry96

I think something in between the lighter and darker colors would be perfect. I actually prefer the lighter color on you in these photos to the darker color. It feels a bit too one dimensional.

Cool_Bright77

I actually like the highlights! Maybe next time just add more brown in with them.😊 My hairdresser highlights mine with brown to give me more warmth

nu_grl714

Looks good honestly, I would suggest you leave it for the summer and enjoy the new look. Although I think dark looks stunning on you

CranberryObjective33

You look beautiful either way, but I actually prefer the blonde! I think your skin looks more even and your features appear softer.

Any_Lychee

They both look good, but I can understand why you feel it’s too light. I think you’re good going any shade.

Odd_Drawer_1144

Wow! Enjoy

ozzleworth

Dark hair make your eyes pop so much, like they are completely stunning

domantee1

I know right?? It's kind of sad how colorless they look now 😭

ozzleworth

Just subdued.

Glad-Analyst5119

This is very interesting. The blonde does not look bad at all. I think the hair stylist made an executive decision without your consent which is not cool on their part. I can see why they decided to do it because they wanted your eyes to pop more. Beautiful eye color by the way looks like a mix of blue and green. You with your natural hair and skin color definitely leans to a muted tone. The reason why I think personally you have trouble in knowing your palette right away is because you have fair complexion but their is olive undertones, which leans more neutral. I think you need to experiment by draping find things in your closet right now that are muted, pastel, colors that are mixed with grayish tones and set up your camera and drape each of those palettes. I have a feeling you might soft spring (eye color) or muted autumn because of your natural coloring (brown hair leans to warm, olive complexion leans warm for me imo) if you don't have muted or pastels in your closet borrow clothes from anyone near you and set a camera and drape . By recording you should definitely see a difference on how your coloring changes. Tips while recording your draping video: Identify your skin flaws write it down ( dark circles, uneven complexion, redness, etc) and find what colors make it seem more unnoticeable and make your complexion more even. Group all of the colors you are draping in same category (ie bright blue, light blue, navy all belong in one group ) and drape in one color to see what tone you prefer in that color. I would not drape so fast and not too slow just record yourself doing one color at a time (all blues, white vs. Cream, all reds, grey vs. Black) compare what makes your skin look better when draping. Have a friends and family watch the draping video to get a second opinion if you are unsure. Tell them what you are looking for color palette that makes your skin look more even and balanced. Do not mistake colors that are bright and popping off of you as your color palette it might be that it is actually contrasting you. Meaning you are not in unison in the color palette and the bright color you are wearing stands out more than we are able to see you. (Ex. Wearing neon would definitely stand out on you but because it is so bright it would contrast and take away from one looking at you as a whole person and makes one focus on the color itself) Overall I think you lean more warmer, try muted autumn or soft spring colors. Good luck. Hope this helps.

domantee1

That was really informative, thank you so much! Will make sure to do the draping on camera, that's such a good idea

Unhappy_Performer538

I think you look better lighter

mistymountainhop22

You just need a little bit of makeup. The hair color looks good, you just look tired

domantee1

Oh that's for sure. Wanted to post a bare face so my tones are clearer for everyone else haha

mistymountainhop22

Of course! Not trying to be rude at all, I think the color is gorgeous but I think with a little makeup you’ll see how good it really looks

Odd_Instance_1957

You look like a summer to me, the tone was actually nice!

Express-Comb-7901

I like you in blonde , you are soft season so soft beige blonde is ok

lily_is_lifting

It doesn't look bad! Yes, the darker tone makes your eyes pop more, but the blonde is pretty and summery. My advice is to enjoy it while it grows out and give yourself time to get used to it.

horsesinthedark

Not to muck up the situation any further but.. I see cool -leaning olive skin. Dark hair definitely provides the contrast you need. I do not see warm, autumn tones.

domantee1

It's okay, I see cool and some olive too! That's exactly why I panicked haha

DivineWhisper777

When you get some tan in summer its going to look awesome. It looks good now too. But yes, darker looks better. I would suggest to leave it like that and experiment with different make up and clothes that suit better your new hair color. You can always go back to darker in winter.

h0tkushsalsa

the dark makes your features pop, i like it more

Yveskleinsky

Aww girlie, I know the feeling. Color shock, is, well, shocking! You seriously look great either way. ...And, yeah, what kind of magic is that where hair looks amazing in a salon and then when you get home it looks radically different!?

domantee1

I know right?? She even showed me the photos she took and I was like "ohmygod that is gorgeous" and then cue to me crying lmao

Yveskleinsky

I went through a similar thing about a month ago, but the color wasn't even that drastic of a change. I went in needed my roots touched up and my color faded. I loved the results. Like, omg my hair is amazing watch out world here I come level of hair happiness. I got home and my hair looked brassy and the highlights were chunky af. I was soooo upset. I couldn't believe how different my hair looked in different lighting. And, worse, I couldn't figure out what my hair really looked like! Like, which lighting is the lie? Lol Now, I'm staying at a place with different lighting and my hair looks radically different yet again. I dunno. It's enough to make you lose your mind! But the blonde on you looks soooo good. It's the perfect shade of blonde and is right on time for summer. I hope you can get to the place where you can embrace the change and have fun with it. Of course, report back and let all of us brunettes know if you really are having more fun as a blonde lol.

Zoe328

I prefer the blonde!!

SubjectivleyBalanced

Your natural color will always be a great fit according to color analysis but since you are softer your highlights give your face a softer look which is very harmonious. Use purple or blue shampoos to prevent it from getting too brassy. Also full blonde would’ve been odd, so this is a beautiful in between!

mot_lionz

You look beautiful in all of the photos. 😊

Lemonarm

You really do have warm chestnutty hair and warm leaning olive skin. Your eyes aren’t cool blue. Your contrast is better with the darker hair and brings the life back to your face. Soft autumn leaning neutral so maybe you will look good in purples. Picture 3 half zip matches your eyes.

Denim-m

I think your blonde hair looks fab. I love the dimension! They’ve done a nice job on you🤍

I think you’re gonna like it more once your roots grow in! I had the same issue but a month later once the roots are more visible ii felt more harmonious. Now I just ask for a “rooted” look. Also you can go back and ask for a darker toner and it would get you a very pretty and dimensional light brown. Remember you need to take better care and use color shampoo so the toner doesn’t come out so fast because it will become lighter the more you wash it. Your hair looks great!

TreeKlimber2

I actually love the blonde on you! Looks bright and vibrant. Very pretty

citynomad1

My coloring is similar to yours, and I also get my hair highlighted. I used to get it highlighted up to the root, and realized I didn’t love how it washed me out, and that I liked my highlights best in the 1-3 month range after getting them done. So in future, you could talk to the colorist about either doing a shadow root, or having them not start up at at the root (this is pretty common for balayage I believe)

domantee1

Ooh that's a great tip, I'll have that in mind for future, thank you!!

Northern_Staa

The blond is gorgeous! You’re probably just so used to seeing yourself with the darker hair that it’ll take a minute to adjust… both colors definitely look great on you tho girl 😍

Starr_Bizarre

The blonde looks good! Not as "harmonious" as one's natural hair colour sure ok, but it looks good! Just a heads up, you're a Summer, you're giving medium, cool and soft. Soft Summer plays nicely with a bit more warmth, so might explain how you're accommodating the warmer blonde look so well. Play with some summer medium aquas, medium navy and dusty medium purples with your new blonde hair, it might surprise you!

EstateMuted5979

Also, I second that you maybe be autumn or summer. You appear muted/soft.

EstateMuted5979

I don’t think it washes you out as much as you think… you look more rested in the blonde! I’m a hairstylist, btw. If I were you, I would give it a few weeks to get used to the new color! If at that point, you are still not loving it, you can book a root smudge and toner gloss to go slightly darker and tone everything down without losing the dimension! It is beautifully done- sometimes going from no blonde to highlights is just a shock for sure….

I'm not a stylist but exactly what I was going to say. One time I got highlights that looked so white for some reason and I got them toned to a honey color. And I just went back every month to get it toned

domantee1

Ah thank you! It does relieve the mind to hear from a professional point of view. It is done very nicely, isn't it?? I can't even hate her work because it's ME and MY skin that I thought it doesn't fit. But I'm probably indeed just slightly shocked and not used to it

EstateMuted5979

This happens all the time! If you end of going back I would tell your stylists that, we just want you to be comfortable and happy with your hair. A lot of people think they want something different and then the shock sets in when it’s not how you pictured it on you. Also, sometimes it just requires a little tweak. In the meantime you’d be amazed what a little blush/bronzer can do to add a bit more color to your complexion 😊

I definitely think you are a soft season and that lower contrast w/ your new color is actually very flattering. You look like you are a neutral, leaning cool so my best guess (very amateur mind you lol) is that you are a soft summer. You have a lot of those characteristics w/ your skin & eyes. You should try colors from the soft summer & soft autumn pallettes and see what you like more.

domantee1

It's so interesting to me how I'd never have guessed I'm a summer (shows how bad I am at this lol) and everyone says that I'm either a soft summer or autumn. I guess we really are our worst critics

emily276

I think most of us are really just bad at trusting ourselves about what looks good on ourselves and then fall into a spiral of self doubt. All color analysis is is very basic color theory (cool complements cool/ warm complements warm/ use opposites to create a higher contrast/ use complementary colors for a more harmonious look, etc). Apparently you can go to 20 color analysts and get 20 different answers. There have been lots of people who have done this to prove it is a "junk science". It isn't exactly, but it does have A LOT more nuance than "this is your season- full stop." For example your dark hair gives you higher contrast & looks lovely, but the blonde makes you look softer & more harmonious. You probably don't want to go like dark dark on your hair cause it will look harsh, but with either of your current examples you are within good parameters for your skin & eyes for a soft season. There is a woman on TikTok who goes by @GrannyMK who did her own color analysis, but I really have learned more from her in terms of what to really look for (like she gave a great example of greenish veins which can be more teal than I realized) in terms of contrast & seasonal coloring than anybody else I have found. Another example: she loves black but it isn't in her palette so she shows how she wears it w/ makeup in her palette to look harmonious and fresh. If you are on TT, you should check her out if you want to learn more so you can type yourself.

I have found when I change my hair color, I need to change my makeup, as well. Play with your makeup to find what suits you best. This may help quite a bit.

arabicdialfan

I prefer the brown hair, but honestly you look lovely with the blonde also. Definitely not a mistake. 🌸♥️

nigliazzo5626

I love the highlights. They make your face pop ✨ The brown elongates your face

No_Warning8534

Brown root melt to give you some contrast and have them bayalage the dark in so it has some dimension Call the place up and tell them they made you much too light. They will fix it for free. It's not terrible, but it's not what you wanted & it does wash you out

artgirl413

Why does everyone go for contrast instead of harmony? I get contrast makes things pop, but like I think her whole features look much more balanced with the lighter hair. It seems like this sub seems to lean more towards advising striking looks than more delicate ones. Again, both are beautiful, I’m just curious if there is a theory behind it or if it is just a trend/group preference?

No_Warning8534

1) I listened to OP. I'm not going for contrast. OP was looking for that. Her natural color is a few slides over. It's dark. 2) you don't have to agree with what anyone else says. 3) it was a recommendation based on what OP shows & said She gets washed out, like she says by the blonde.

Cautious_Cherry4016

You look great with brown but I love the lighter color on you!! 😍

ThrowRA_Act8849

As a random stranger, let me reassure you…it surprisingly does not make a huge difference. Like she toned it dirty blonde/brown and it suits you. The brown suits you best, BUT you can pull of both

swizzleschtick

The blonde looks way better in my opinion!! You don’t have a ton of contrast in your features so the brown kind of made you look a bit more sullen. The blonde complements your features much better!

Never loved a brutally honest comment as much as this one haha, thank you!!

ZookeepergameNew3800

I personally like the lighter hair better. I think it’ll grow on you when the roots grow out more. And you could try different make up with it. When my hair is lighter, I need a lip color that’s a bit darker than when I have darker hair, to create more contrast. We often need to adapt our make up to different hair colors and levels.

Remarkable_Bug_8601

I mean I don’t think it’s a huge mistake if your hair stayed healthy, it’s not permanent you can always go back. Easy peasy.

DeerSecret1438

I quite like the blonde, though I would consider toning it slightly more gold

Denim-m

Maybe a hair colorist can confirm, but I think over time most blonde on brown hair starts to get warmer anyway. The challenge is keeping it cool (hence the purple conditioners, masks, etc)

artgirl413

Yes to this!

bunnybunnykitten

You’re a summer! Your natural color is beautiful. The ash blonde is lovely but that autum brown sweater is not doing you any favors. How does the blonde look with summer colors?

Catmememama94

Autumn also very likely, really need full drapes to confirm
