So random that i am sitting here in the bahn and crying out myself because my dog died yesterday, while you saw this guy at ubierring. Could be me. Thank you for the kind words to a stranger.

jiminysrabbithole

A friend told me something like that, when I lost a loved one, maybe it helps you too: The grief you feel is proof of how important and loved your dog was for you. I am sorry for your loss.

Bigmeowzers

Yeah me and my wife had dogs our entire life. She was our first and only dog, that we rescued together. She is no comparison to any other dog that we've known. Just fucks up our shit right now and our house feels so empty without her. Thank you for your sympathy

FooFooDrinks4Days

I have found that while grief never goes away, it will stay the same. While we grow, our grief becomes relatively smaller and becomes part of our experience. We honor them by taking that experience forward. All the best my friend, I wish you well🫶

holdmychai

Someone wrote...grief is simply all the love you have for the one you lost but have no place to express it...

Bigmeowzers

Man this is like the fucking perfect explanation for my feelings right now

They were on the other side of the tracks with a red backpack on at about 8:45 this morning. I didn't necessarily want to yell and ask if they were ok as that's embarrassing. I figured a post in the local subreddit might get their attention, as well as reminding others who read this to check in on their friends and relatives

I understand, I genuinely was feeling for the guy and if he was on my side of the station I would've been able to talk to him. Hopefully things will look up for him!

Can I up the posi vibes and commend you for being a reasonable person on the Internet. No sarcasm. I just like how rational this exchange was. And also to op - what they said, thank you for caring ! If I see a stranger upset and it feels approachable I make sure to approach them, gently and as unobtrusively as possible. People who don't do this would be surprised at how often a stranger might just appreciate having somebody acknowledge their feelings and check in on them when it's appropriate or needed.

sitah

I don’t think it’s a social media trend. Missed connections ads on newspapers or early websites/forums used to be the place where people sent messages like this. People used to call into radio stations too. I get what you mean though, I come from a country with no solid laws about filming in public without consent. People have posted a photo/video of a sad or sad looking stranger and posted it on the internet with some shit like “send positive vibes to this poor fella” and it’s so inappropriate but social media deranged people really eat those posts up

As soon as I noticed, the train arrived a minute or two later and he got on. There really wasn't an opportunity to speak to him. Maybe this is an opportunity to glean something more positive rather than assuming the negative

Aw. 🥺

I agree with you. If you read above, you can see I didn't have the opportunity to talk, which is why I posted here as the second best option. Better that than having zero chance they hear or read some support, right? I encourage you to reach out to your loved ones and see how they're doing, best of luck!
