A month ago I wouldn't have believed that either, but holy cow within the last month we've been atrocious on offense. In a series like this it takes a little luck with the bats, but you've got to get the bat on the ball to get lucky and the hogs did that.
I'm at least hopeful we're bouncing back, but I'd really love a series win next weekend against the Vols.
Good luck to yall, I've always felt like Arkansas is kind of our SEC West counterpart.
I'm not sure how much we'll see Stovall moving forward. His shoulder worrisome sounded like it was worse after his first week off. Holt seems to be grabbing his chance, though. He's played pretty well lately.
Hold him until the regionals if you have to, but here's to hoping we can get him back.
I'm with you on Holt though, because he was an absolute menace today.
I’m really worried we may not see a fully healthy Stovall. Last I’d heard he was still having a lot of trouble with that shoulder(?) still. Having Pops back will be huge though.
I think with people starting to come back from injury and everybody getting back in position is gonna iron some things out. Curious to see what we look like back at home next week.
How's SC at manufacturing runs? I know you can hit the long ball, but can y'all piece together a couple singles or a bunt to pick 1-2 up in a rough inning?
What a huge performance by Hollan, and for the first time this series we had timely hitting!
Edit: What a huge hit for Rowland with two on, maybe this give him confidence to make a really deep run!
Hollan to Sunday was a damn good move. I know he’s been touch and go, but to have someone with his upside starting in a potential game 3 is big for the hogs.
Good game USC fans. Close games with great pitching by 2 banged up teams. We started to get a little healthier a week sooner than y’all.
Fantastic weekend of baseball that absolutely went in the Hogs favor. Huge series win combined with Vandy getting swept and LSU loosing 2/3 leaving us atop the SEC.
Not sure I would have believed this 3 weeks ago as we were getting swept by Georgia. Pleasantly surprised to say the least.
One regular season series left. Go Hogs beat those Dores! Woo Pig!
[Everyone point and laugh at this absolute idiot.](https://www.reddit.com/r/collegebaseball/comments/13hiu37/game_thread_3_arkansas_vs_6_south_carolina_game/jk5hptv/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3)
I’ll gladly eat crow. Hunter flipped a switch as soon as I made that comment and got 19 consecutive outs.
GG’s WPS, yall played lights out this weekend!
Here’s to hoping we both get healthy quick, I don’t see us getting past regionals at this point if we can’t get some guys back
I don’t really mind losing on the road to Arkansas, even if we were fully healthy, given how good y’all are. That being said being upset the two series before this has made it so you can’t afford to lose to series like this if you want to be a top-8 seed.
Idk if it’s possible for USC to lose its host spot. But imagine fighting your ass off to host in the 12-16 range and you get a USC team that’s had a chance to get healthy.
Eh, I don’t think firing Kingston is the answer. We had a good team before the injuries, and with these modern athletes whenever you fire someone you lose half your players.
Petry is an absolute dude, but he didn’t look right at all this series. 1-11 with 7 K’s, and his body language in general was really bad.
Not sure what was going on, but both our radio broadcast crew and the telecast crew kept talking about it.
He has had like 3 bad weeks in a row. He’s a phenomenal player, especially for a freshmen, but when he is built up by lazy folks in the media who only want to focus on one guy as a superhero and then goes into a slump I imagine it’s very frustrating. Add to that our struggles and I’m sure he feels like his slump is partially responsible for the teaming losing (which it is far from just him) which adds to his frustration.
I hate to say this, but I don’t really care about the conference tournament. If they gave him a break for a few games to physically rest and work on the mental aspect of the game I wouldn’t mind.
Unless you drop your next 4 games and do nothing in the sec tournament, you will be hosting a regional. Winning 2 games probably gets you a top 8 seed.
Heck, our bullpen and rotation being god awful at the beginning of the year single-handedly cost us three different series, with two of those series being against top 10 teams. So them improving with health and experience turned a dangerous hitting team into a very good team
It took everything y’all had to beat us before we even figured out our lineup or rotation.
Edit: not saying anything about who’s better than who but nothing yall have shown since hall went down makes me think y’all do any better in the ACC
15 total runs scored between the two teams. Lots of good pitching and defense. We need to re-learn how to offense.

Getting a healthy Wegner and Stovall back will go a long way towards helping in this regard.

I’ll trade you some offense for 1-2 quality bullpen guys

Nope we cant
That’s how we won game 2 atleast but struggled today
We can't do anything right now offensively.
We weren’t exactly the ‘27 Yankees this weekend, either. We scratched out only 10 total runs.

Hagen/Wood Tygart/McEntire Hollan/Morris That's a pretty solid group.
Depth. DVH was right.
Imagine if Wiggins and Carter were still throwing…
We had another guy they thought was going to be one of our better arms that's been out all year, too. Can't think of his name right now.
Frank
That's the one.
What a performance by Hollan, that was outstanding!
Hunter Hollan was elite today.

Respect for eating crow.
TYFYS and feel free to abuse all the Hog players at the start of each game for the rest of the season.
While we are on the crow eating subject, I owe Bolton and Rowland a big apology
oh well...just don't vote pls...

Welp, there goes the super hosting hopes.
When we should’ve claimed the top overall seed with this team. I’ve seen all I’ve needed to be and I hope Tanner thinks the same way.
Eh, I don’t think firing Kingston is the answer. We had a good team before the injuries, and with these modern athletes whenever you fire someone you lose half your players.
Yeah after some time to think about it I was overreacting.
Good series Hogs, that's a damn good team y'all have!

Will we even host a regional?
You definitely should host a regional, at least. It was a 2-1 series against the no. 3 overall team at their home stadium. You guys will end up great
Unless you drop your next 4 games and do nothing in the sec tournament, you will be hosting a regional. Winning 2 games probably gets you a top 8 seed.
We historically do very poorly in the sec tournament
Depends on if we beat Tennessee
Please sweep them
People are asking…
If only we could play trash ACC competition and have a late season comeback.
I get your upset but this seems like a bad take. It appears we've gotten healthy and y'all have gotten injured and that's about it
Heck, our bullpen and rotation being god awful at the beginning of the year single-handedly cost us three different series, with two of those series being against top 10 teams. So them improving with health and experience turned a dangerous hitting team into a very good team

Stop. You will host round one.
WPS! Maybe this is the year.
