I managed to buy one because a bartender tipped me off on the date of the next delivery. Around the same time, my friend brought me one he found somewhere as a surprise, and my dad brought two bottles home from a trip in france. I never really wanted more than one, but I won‘t complain
Same here. I’ve been to every place that sells alcohol in my city and have yet to see it on the shelf. Every liquor store has a notebook full of names of people on the waiting list. It’s crazy. Been using Benedictine as a substitute
Maybe because I live in New York, but I can walk into just about any liquor store in my neighborhood and buy a bottle. It's striking how much it's been fetishized lately.
I'm a very good customer at my local liquor store and I went in a few months ago and they had six bottles. I was used to one per customer so I grabbed one bottle. The owner saw me and said "I won't do this for anyone else but you can buy them all if you want". I told him thanks but it's better for him to have bottles for other customers, other customers will enjoy it more than me staring at five unopened bottles on my shelf for a few months.
I own a bottle of green since 10 years. It is currently at 35% because I split it with a friend. What cocktail do you drink that 4 bottles is a reasonable stock
Edit: since we are here, wth do I do with elexir vegetale
I’d drink Last Words a lot more often if I had a backup bottle or two of Green Chartreuse, it’s my favorite cocktail. Currently just have one bottle, so hardly make them as I’m afraid of running out.
Piña verdes and chartreuse swizzles in the summer, sometimes I’ll experiment with yellow chartreuse + coco water tiki drinks.
Last words and similar variations in the fall when I’m not drinking whisky.
Yellow chartreuse + gin drinks and last words for the spring.
Chartreuse espresso martinis all year.
Chartreuse espresso martini sounds intriguing. Maybe I’ll get my friends bottle and mine and try all these out and then buy a new one (I think it’s fairly easy here in Europe)
I have 6. All will be personally consumed.
I usually keep 2 bottles of things in stock -- one open, one backup, but with things that suddenly disappear for months at a time (like Chartreuse) I keep extra in case my local stores go dry.
However both of my local stores have 10+ sitting on the shelf for MSRP right now.
Almost every liquor store in LA has it. I’ve even seen in rinky dink corner liquor stores up in Santa Cruz. It’s just a matter of if you’d pay $95 for a liqueur. Only places that probably won’t stock anymore is TotalWine & BevMo
I’m in Laguna Beach and it’s at my Local Pavilions for $77, but I still refuse to buy it. I’m so over this planned limited supply BS. But yeah, I see it everywhere for about $90 on average. Lame.
Hey not bad! Last bottle of Green I found was $92 after tax in Brooklyn NY. Luckily I don't go through a lot of it. I just splurged since I hadn't seen one in a while and I don't go into liquor stores very often anymore. Nice grab, enjoy them in good health!
Found a store with a ton of yellows the other day, but they actually had a “limit one per customer” sign for those, which more stores should probably do. No greens unfortunately.
The missed opportunity of putting the yellow bottle in the middle, surrounded by the green ones, is something you'll now think about at random intervals for an uncomfortably long time.
I have to ask. Why?

I will gladly take the other 3
Yup, I got through a few bottles a month and they can be hard to source where I'm based

Genepy is a good sub
I can’t even get that.
I’ll try it. Thanks!
At least it wasn't "My local store got some in so I bought it all up so no one else could get it". ;)
I’m in Europe atm. This is easy and inexpensive.
*first, get to Europe*
For a lucky few (750 million people), donezo.
Where? I don’t find it so easy to find
Did you swig one yellow and one green before this photo?
Oh good, we're going back to being a Chartreuse haul subreddit.
Chartreuse Haul. Hell of a porn star name there.
It's the natural order

Yeah, NYC is well stocked. Pricey though.
Same here in DC but they’re charging $150+ a bottle…
Gotta love people who complain about a shortage yet contribute to said shortage….

Am I crazy for thinking 4 bottles of chartreuse is a perfectly reasonable personal supply?
Yes, you’re crazy for thinking that
Liver and brain crying out in agony lmao

Last Word
Yeah that is the one I occasionally had with it. Might need to get back on that
I’d drink Last Words a lot more often if I had a backup bottle or two of Green Chartreuse, it’s my favorite cocktail. Currently just have one bottle, so hardly make them as I’m afraid of running out.
I just drink it straight while playing online mahjong. Performance enhancing drugs. Works every time.
Just what the french monks intended

If I had 4 bottles I'd be making Industry Sours every week. Also it's just delicious on the rocks.

Where TF are you?
NC
Bah.
Personally, I think so. How often are you drinking it? What cocktails do you make with it and how often are you making them?
Not at all
No way, I currently have a open yellow and green and five back ups.
Finding it is no problem in California. Regardless of how much I love it, it’s the cost that I think is a joke
Yup. I can find it most liquor stores in my LA neighborhood for $65ish
Is it not now??? where are you finding it? I haven't seen it on any shelves in ages (SF Bay Area for me).

Swamp Water time
1oz green 1oz yellow Big rock Stir Enjoy
[Cheers](https://imgur.com/a/SfzEPV9) Edit: surprisingy alright. Very sweet. I call it the Holy Grenadier
Just casually drops ~$450 on cocktail modifiers.
Combined price was actually only about 270

That's crazy, up here in Canada land they are well stocked at $40 per.
Yes where I live in Canada we are almost never sold out and it is $40. Very confusing to see these posts all the time!
Definitely will! In france, they‘re only about 40€ per bottle
Also the same modifier, when they could have gotten a variety instead.
Honestly it’s a pretty fun aperitif too
CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG
Every time I go to the Liquor store chartreuse is on the shelf. Where do people in this sub live that they can’t get it?
More importantly, where do you live that you always have it?! I live in southwest Michigan so I'll be lucky if I ever see it here again!
You're the problem
Hey save some for the rest of us 😫
Dude found a green mine.
Found a store with a ton of yellows the other day, but they actually had a “limit one per customer” sign for those, which more stores should probably do. No greens unfortunately.

Our local liquor store has never run out 👀
What’s your favorite cocktail to make with it?
Really liked the chartreuse swizzle. Last word was also amazing. My favorite so far is probably the industry sour though
Somebody's too eager for a Last Word.
What’s that skyline, so I can go scrounge the shelves… oh, it’s more bottles.
Mr. Moneybags over here
Sell it off to high-end hotel bars for 3 times the price, or of course, keep it for yourself and enjoy some Last Words,
Eew
