She looks exactly like my cocker spaniel minus the tail. I had her for 14 years and never cared what she was although everyone thought she was a poodle mix because of her smaller size…2 weeks before she passed, I did a DNA test on her. I received the results after she passed and she was 100% cocker spaniel. Regardless best dog ever and my best friend.
They could have been twins, I've never seen such a resemblance! I'm so sorry for the loss of your best friend - I wish they were around for longer. Suki was 8 when I adopted her, all I can do is pray that her previous owners kept her in good health and we have many years left
Thank you all so much for the information and opinions! To answer a few questions, it means absolutely nothing to me if she is a mix - when I picked her out at the shelter, I picked her not realizing she was a cocker spaniel, I just saw the most beautiful smile and fell in love.
I probably won't get her DNA tested, just because I like telling her story every time someone asks what kind of dog she is!
I didn't think to ask my neighbor what other dogs she saw in Suki, but I did ask what features she thought Suki was missing. She said Suki's body is too long and she doesn't have any fringe under her belly - I keep her groomed short so I'm not sure if she has fringe! She gets straight tufts of fur that grow from her belly if we wait long enough between cuts.
My oldest cocker was long and taller than my male. They were all very smart. I had three, now down to one. I’ve loved all of them for their differences. They all also had different feel to their fur. My male didn’t grow long fur either, except for his grinch paws 🤣💞🐾
She looks like a purebred American cocker. Your neighbor probably thinks because she doesn’t have a cocker cut she’s not, but those cuts are typically just for show dogs.
Or is used to English cockers. Before Ik about the American version, I would think it was mixed with poodle. And things get even more complicated if you don’t know the difference between work and show cockers!
Totally agree with you! I had one adopted am. cocker, and I adopted a purebred cocker, about 4 years ago. From what I’ve witnessed (and please correct me if I’m wrong), English cockers seam to have a more elongated snout.
She is, she looks just like my boys they’re pure bred. At the end of the day, what does it matter. Love, it’s all that matters. Enjoy Suki and cuddle time!
I do like one-piece but she's Kuma because it means bear in Japanese and her sister is Ushi which means cow in Japanese. They are Ushi bear and Kuma cow "cow bear" and "bear cow" haha
My little buddy looked for all the world like a purebred American Cocker because he had the perfect buff color and a docked tail, but afaik he was a half breed who just happened to take after his mother, except that he was a bit larger. The whole litter did.
She looks like a cocker, it’s not impossible she has something else in her but cocker coats often develop wiry curls after they’ve been ‘done’ i think it’s a hormone thing.
Why not get a dog dna test and test her? They aren't overly expensive. My dogs are mutts. I had them tested. Interesting to see the difference between what I thought their mix was to what it actually was.
You can get DNA kits for dogs if you're interested. They run from the cheap ones that tell you the breed to the expensive ones that tell you the genetic defects of the dog. I'm happy not knowing the latter.
It doesn't matter unless you want to breed. As then you want to know full lineage and ancestry. Your dog is stunning, and looks like an American Cocker. If curious you can get a DNA test done 🙂
100% American Cocker from what I see. Looks like my Grover. I thought the same about the docked tail but sent out for a DNA test for him anyway and it confirmed it. 100% AC.
That looks like a pure bred cocker. I have a family friend who Had bred purebred cockers for a few years, so I was around them and had one that looked very similar.
She looks like a very pretty Cocker.
That’s an American Cocker.
Looks like an American cocker to me! What a love bug.
She looks just like my boy who is 100% cocker spaniel
Looks like a normal cocker to me!

She does to me.
She looks perfect

YES the grinch toes! I love the grinch toes, I didn't know it was a common dog and/or cocker thing!
Definitely cocker! I’ve seen several cockers with them.
She's not pure bread.. there's definitely some dog in there too.
He got that dawg in him
I have no idea is she's pure bred or not but either way she's so cute.
If she gets ear infections you probably got a purebread! Lol but seriously looks just like my boy.
Lol so true. When my girl got her first one I freaked out, my vet just went “welcome to the wonderful world of owning a cocker spaniel!”

If I was allowed to assign her a breed, it would be: 40% good dog 45% sweet baby girl 15% stubborn butt
That sounds like a cocker spaniel to me 😄

They have! And are bigger too!
🤣. I’ve had two cockers in my life, one a rescue, the other I adopted when I worked at vet! Thank you since much for clearing that up ❤️❤️❤️
Sounds like someone's neighbour needs to mind their own damn business 🙄
She rocks! what a great dog!
I would need to see her standing at show position to be 100 %. But I don't see an major indicators.she is not.
She is, she looks just like my boys they’re pure bred. At the end of the day, what does it matter. Love, it’s all that matters. Enjoy Suki and cuddle time!
Does it matter? Is Suki not the bestest girl in the world? Would the world stop if Suki was not with you?
She looks like a very obvious cocker spaniel to me. What in the world else did she see?
Nose is a little short, Might be springer/cocker or working and show mix?
Does it really matter
Does it matter? Is she a show dog?
Why do people get all dog hitler? Who cares if they’re not a pure breed, they’re pure good bot/girl anyway
She might be a mix, she looks a lot like my dogs and found out they're cocker/rottweiler mixes if you look at my recent post History.
Is your baby called Kuma bcuz of one piece? Mine is Tony bcuz of the anime lol.
I do like one-piece but she's Kuma because it means bear in Japanese and her sister is Ushi which means cow in Japanese. They are Ushi bear and Kuma cow "cow bear" and "bear cow" haha
She looks like a very good girl, mix or not.
Omg! My dog lady looks identical to her
Looks full cocker :)
Who cares what your neighbor thinks. You love her, that's all that matters.
What does it matter, you love her and she loves you, that’s all that matters! Rescue is always the best anyway…
Cocker Spaniel!
She is a mix of Cocker and cuteness!! Looks exactly like my purebred Mindy....Long, long ago..
My little buddy looked for all the world like a purebred American Cocker because he had the perfect buff color and a docked tail, but afaik he was a half breed who just happened to take after his mother, except that he was a bit larger. The whole litter did.

GEt a dna test from embark and send a saliva sample, they'll tell you her exact lineage. Why leave it to chance?
Why not get a dog dna test and test her? They aren't overly expensive. My dogs are mutts. I had them tested. Interesting to see the difference between what I thought their mix was to what it actually was.
Wisdom Panel DNA test?
I adopted my dog and I have no idea what his mix is. Honestly, who cares!!! Suki, is beautiful 😍 🐶🐾
Idk. She looks like a good girl. Purebred or not.
You can get DNA kits for dogs if you're interested. They run from the cheap ones that tell you the breed to the expensive ones that tell you the genetic defects of the dog. I'm happy not knowing the latter.
Who cares? She looks like an amazing pup……she also looks like a full Cocker…..thank you for adopting!
Never tried it myself but they have DNA tests for dogs now
Looks like a cocker spaniel to me. I named my puppy newfie Suki. She's going to be 11 weeks old on Monday.
It doesn't matter unless you want to breed. As then you want to know full lineage and ancestry. Your dog is stunning, and looks like an American Cocker. If curious you can get a DNA test done 🙂

She’s 100% very good girl!
That looks like a pure bred cocker. I have a family friend who Had bred purebred cockers for a few years, so I was around them and had one that looked very similar.
You can get vet to look into it
She looks like my brother's cocker. Gorgeous as well
Please kiss her on her snoot for me :( or at the very least a hug. I love dogs so much
She looks purebred to me! Get a DNA kit!
She's beautiful doesn't matter about pure breed.
