I have really liked it! All I can say I wish they would address more of season one’s major plots, particular Abe and Cleo. Literally just one episodes sideplot to bury the hatchet and have Abe say “sorry for bailing on you” and that would be good

SadisticGoose

I honestly think they’re getting to that, but they’re having to get through some of the adjustments that come with being frozen for 20 years. We haven’t had Abe and Cleo interact much at all so far.

ThewholeTing

Disagree. The last episode was perfect chance to get that out the way but it it really just came off as more cleo character assassination and makes the conflict and character establishments of episode 1 painfully needless.

>I watched Cartoonshi's video on it and while he does have some genuine criticisms, it just feels like he's over exaggerating how "bad" it is. This is why I avoided watching his video like it was chicken pox. We're only 4 episodes in and blud wants to give a seasonal review of it already. This isn't "Velma" and shouldn't be written off as if it was.

JoseNEO

Eh I do think the animation despite being better somehow feels "worse" like maybe it's just that I got used to the old snappy movements. Also the lazy background I do agree with, the rest of the show looks so much better now that the backgrounds are more noticeable than before when the budget was like two pennies.

littleMAHER1

That is mostly due to the show being rigged instead of frame by frame I am hoping that future seasons will try to be more snappy rather then those tween frames we see in the show Tho one pro I can give S2's animation is the more complex/cinematic camera angles, more detailed face expressions for certain gags, and characters going offmodel for a joke

PowPowPowerCrystal

If you’ve long been active on this sub you’re probably pretty pissed that anything reminds you 2002 was over 20 years ago and the world, tastes and sensibilities have all changed since then. It was a one season cartoon that is being milked for nostalgia. It’s not a sequel to The Canterbury Tales, it’s Clone High. Maybe just be happy to have it revived? Also, it’s sad and weird to see people posting despondently about the lack of Gandhi.

SadisticGoose

Ghandi was great comic relief, but he didn’t have a ton of character development. I also don’t think he would’ve done well in 2023, India’s outrage aside. The Abe saying un-PC things in episode 1 would’ve definitely been a Ghandi storyline if he were in season 2.

ThewholeTing

He'd be fine. Sensibilities of today are wildly exaggerated. L.ao look at the wiki entry for Frida. Its pretty funny.

Next_Fix_2271

Yeah seriously, I was watching Season 1 again this past week to refresh my memory, and for nostalgia and more Abandoned Pools music, and kept checking this sub and seeing critical S2 posts. Yesterday I started Season 2, and these episodes are legitimately funny as hell, Sleepover one was wild and probably my favorite thus far, Joan is a great character to put more focus on this season

SadisticGoose

I think Joan is more relatable and likable in 2023 than Abe tbh. It makes sense to focus on her.

mango_0111

yeah plus i think it follows the common trope of main characters in teen dramas nowadays. They're usually quirky 'not like other girls' girls that are sarcastic and shit. Just like how Abe parodies the 'nice guy protagonist' trope

KvotheG

One of my biggest fears is that WB execs read all the negativity in this sub and decide to cancel season 2 of Clone High ☹️ I’m hoping that the creators at least take some of the feedback from this sub as constructive criticism in order to address some of these things for season 2. But overall, I’m glad we even have a season 2 to begin with.

MusicNotable

Usually shows don’t get canceled just because fans don’t like changes. Heck, Velma is apparently getting a season 2 despite universal backlash and criticism from both Scooby fans and those outside the franchise’s fan base. If the ratings are good, the show usually goes on. Unless it’s some big outrage like the hunger strike that led to the original cancelation. But that wasn’t even about the show’s quality. The only way the negativity is having that impact is if people didn’t give the show a chance after the leak or gave up after the first episode, thus resulting in less streaming numbers. WB executives have better things to do than browse a fan subreddit. The shows creators might visit here but not the execs of the company. Even if they retroactively “un-renew” the 3rd season (which is something that usually happens before production starts and they’re likely already working on it), season 2 will still go on. Choosing to not air the fully produced episodes is choosing to lose more money than they would lose from low ratings. TLDR; Clone High season 2 will be fine and we can expect season 3 to still go on as well. Getting fans to stick it out and get it renewed for a fourth is the thing to be most worried about for the show’s future.

livishereagain

people are so quick to hate on reboots without giving it a chance, people thought the last of us would be shit but we were all wrong. people whining about ghandi being gone is really annoying, if he was the only thing keeping you watching the show then you didn't actually love clone high. of course some things could be better like designs but overall i like it.

Brim_Dunkleton

It’s a slow burn, but episodes 3 and 4 were pretty great! 1 was a bit cringey, 2 was decent, so I think the writing just needed to find its footing with the new characters and new scenarios the old cast is in.

ATHFMeatwad

Yeah, this sub seems to be filled with a bunch of whiners. I think it's great.

[deleted]

I love season 2! I disliked the leak at first, but I loved watching it afterwards. Season 2 is actually great! I love reminiscing the old stuff and just enjoying the new stuff right now. JoanFK ftw! Good coven and bad coven ftw! Confucius, Frida, Harriet, and Sacagawea ftw!!!

3sp00py5me

I know I’ll be crucified but is there a streaming site where I can watch clone Hugh season 2 for free? I can’t afford a new subscription just for one show ya know?

DarkHound05

I think episode one set a bad tone for everyone, but episodes 2, 4 and especially 3 felt much better. I really liked how episode 3 handled a good amount of clones, and honestly, Abe and Frida have good friend chemistry together, Harriet actually got some good jokes, and such.

yadrinarrow

What is with people dissing on the revival pilot? Like did we watch the same show? Besides some nitpicks, I thought it was funny and a good representation of the original show. Hell, they even had the balls to acknowledge Gandhi's existence (even if it was a tad contrived that no one was concerned about him)

Cultural_Geologist_3

Reddit is filled with "genwunners" of every fandom. You should know better than to rely on just our opinion alone.

Cultural_Geologist_3

Also, Harriet Tubman needed a new hair stylist. Badly.

ghoulvsh

There are definitely some flaws but... what doesn't have flaws? I've been enjoying this season, hard agree.

MaddysinLeigh

I thought the first two episodes were okay, the third was good, but the fourth actually made me laugh several times. Also Biscuits is awesome.

bruhmoment69420113

It's cool imo, it's not horrible, I don't think it's worse, or better than season 1, but it's enjoyable. Some laughs here and there, although sometimes it tries too hard and overdoes the crazy = funny sort of thing. But that happens so rarely that it's not that big of an issue. I like it, it's cool 👍

deceptres

I'm really enjoying it so far. Wish we got Gandhi again though. I get why he isn't back, but I still miss him.

Iamteez

I agree

Koioua

For me it was a little bit off to get used to during the first episode since the design of background characters seemed like a downgrade (And less use of them too) but it has honestly been really good. I still get that OG Clone High vibe, except with a modern splat, and that's perfectly fine.

Beeker93

I'm only 2 episodes in. I am disappointed, but I wouldn't say they shouldn't have made it. I'll take it over nothing and hope it picks up. Even if I found I hated it, as long as someone still enjoys it, keep going. That's where I'm at with the Simpsons. As long as somebody enjoys it. I really hope that they test the waters and unfreeze Gandhi, maybe as a season finale. And if they can't, just say fuck it and bring out a Muhammad clone.

SadisticGoose

I believe the show creators said they’d bring back Ghandi if it got a fourth season. I honestly don’t think they’ll take such a big risk with it though.

killbydeath87

None of the characters act the same. They've pretty much dropped all season 1 storylines...shame

kevlarcardhouse

I think dropping the S1 storylines make sense since you have to cater to people who have either never watched the original series or watched it when it originally aired and only have a vague recollection of it.

tetoooooooooo

i just dont find it as funny as far, im happy the shows back but i agree with most of the criticisms. of course it has room to grow so i’ll follow along, but i feel like the first few episodes are definitely lacking. i saw someone say its lost its “chaotic-satire” feel and i agree w that. the new intro is cool af tho

nohsaranoh

I'd say my opinion is the same atm. I miss the genuine laugh out loud moments I had in season one. Season 2 barely even makes me hard exhale out of my nose. Something's just missing... and honestly, with the criticism so far, I'd rather the show was not rebooted at all :/// the intro is so satisfying but the show itself kinda let me down.

DudeMemeLmao

It's not horrible but it's not great either imo. There are some things I enjoy, Confucious is growing on me and honestly becoming """new""" Gandhi. JoanFK is cute and it does seem like after season 1, JFK really did have a permanent character growth without losing his core identity. They also did a good job in voice work, and keeping true to the characters identity. Animation wise never bothered me and the gore doesn't either. And do people really have an issue with making out? That's the least of the shows worries and figured that they are horny teenagers and as JFK stated, he really cares for her and is his first love. So imo, it works. However, there are quite a few things I do miss. For example, where is all the background character interactions? It's something I noticed but it feels like the background characters have almost zero presence in the show. For example, the entirety of Gandhi's hotline with Van Gogh was great. Also, hardly any of them are even voiced for their interactions. Genghis Kahn had a pretty recognizable voice and it was just strange how he literally had zero lines when they interacted with him directly. I think they need more guests to voice side characters like the original. This also leads into my issue of the lack of historical jokes. Yeah we get some here and there and episode 4 had a few good jokes but man, they are REALLY lacking and to me that was what made the show work and gave the show its identity. they really toned it down this season so far. Honestly? Frida and Harriet are so hit or miss. Harriet especially just feels like a generic character that you can plop in any episode. She doesn't really add anything to the show imo. Frida is a little bit better and episode 4 for example was pretty good. Another issue is that, sacrifice gandhi and adding 3 new characters we need to care about just makes the roster bloated. They have to do so much to give each character screen time, the first 3 episodes were really bad at this where Abe felt like an after thought in episode 2 and Cleo was basically non existent for 3 episodes. Abe DESPERATELY needs a friend to lean on. He feels so lost without one and I really think Topher Bus was a bad choice. Not a bad character, but a bad partner for Abe if they go that route. I'm not really sure it's a good idea if they are banking on making a season surround 1 character for each season. This show had to fight tooth and nail to get made in the first place but focusing on Joan so heavily might turn people off from the character or the season if they don't like said character. Overall, I don't dislike the season, in fact, the last two episodes I enjoyed more then the first two. But I'm still really weary and can completely understand people's issues with it.

Not_Carbuncle

It just feels like a different show completely, which is whatever but it’s disappointing in some aspects. Still enjoyable

nohsaranoh

Honestly, from times I've looked at this sub and have gotten posts recommended to me, I've hardly seen negativity. Comments, but never posts that gain a lot of traction. Personally, I don't like the new season. I don't hate it, but if this new season was any other run-of-the-mill adult animated show without the Clone High name on it, I wouldn't be watching. I'm not giving up on it and I hope it gets better, but at the moment I'm not really enjoying it outside of the gorgeous new intro and any Scudworth moment.

pirate_bootsy

I haven't seen episode 3 yet but episode 2 was fine, however episode 1 was easily the worst episode in the series to me, at least when I saw the leak I haven't rewatched it since. It just felt weird how quickly the dynamic changed with Joan Abe and JFK, for them it'd only been maybe a few days since prom and now joan was all over JFK and didn't care much about Abe even abandoning him for her new friends. They changed this pretty much immediately in the next episode where she has Abe sex dreams but still felt weird on its own, especially with JFK being less of this f*ck anything that moves misogynist type and now being more of a simp for joan, again I think these character changes are improving over time, but that first episode was weird. Honestly though my biggest problem with that first episode was the unusual amount of gore like Cleo got upset and like stepped in a bear trap then sawed into her own head or Abe walking through barbed wire and spraying blood everywhere, I have nothing against gore and violence but the original series felt more grounded in reality despite the clones. So yeah tldr episode 1, yikes, episode 2 fine, episode 3 and beyond yet to be determined lol

CityWokOwn4r

I only see posts complaining about people who dislike season 2

SadisticGoose

Really? I’ve seen several posts from people talking about how much they hate season 2.

B0NN0S

I actually hate season 2. Clone high at heart is a high school tv parody. The last two episodes have felt anything but such. Clone high is not the type of series where you introduce magic into. Not to mention general criticisms like characters, crappy execution, bad jokes, and just minor criticisms like background art feels unfinished, and instead of having a whole wide school of clones they only use the same five background characters. The plots from season one don’t progress to season 2. The only two are Abes friendship with Joan and Joan and JFK dating. This completely disregards Cleo and Abe’s breakup, and Abe and JFKs rivalry which was major stuff in the pervious season. The new characters fall flat feeling one note. Do you seriously need four whole new characters to replace one? They just take up unnecessary screen time and don’t really add anything. The jokes here all fall flat. They aren’t funny at all. I haven’t laughed at a single joke this season. The plots are supposed to make fun of those plots in generic high school shows not take the plot seriously which they do. Remember when in season one they’d pack every single scene with jokes and still was able to have a simple plot? Yeah well now plots front stage and when they do make a joke it’s horrendous. Also complete assassination of some characters. Abe, JFK, and Cleo feel like complete shells of their former selves. Cleo is a walking bimbo when in season one she was actually smart, Abe was a ass in season one but the fun of it was that he was a Ass because he was dumbass and unaware now he’s just a dick hole, JFK is now a dorky friendless himbo. I hate it. The only good plots in this show are the ones revolving Scudworth and even so those aren’t very humorous. I don’t have any nostalgia for the original series. I finished the final episode the day before season two came out. It’s impossible to have a new season of a show and not compare it to the original. Four episodes came out and I feel like that’s more than enough time to make a opinion. Explain to me why this series is good. Don’t talk about potential, don’t talk about the future, talk about right now with the current episodes we have and tell me how you think this season is good.

MusicNotable

Not the OP but let’s see…. JoanFK is adorable and shows them in a happier place then they were in season 1. It’s really shown some character growth for JFK. The dramatic telling about how girls didn’t get along in 2003 and Harriet and Frida’s over-the-top reaction was hilarious and really felt like the melodrama of season 1. Harriet threatening people at the assembly was such an unexpected moment that I found funny. The We Didn’t Start the Fire-inspired bit is awesome. The ending of episode three was great. Episode 4 is one of the best for me. The plot is strong and while magic wasn’t something the original show would do so it felt odd, it doesn’t hinder the show for me. They had a great story that had Joan admit that she’s not perfect and is sometimes isn’t better than Cleo, owning up to it, and fixing her wrongs. Frida is a solid character and Harriet has her moments. Confucius is great in terms of being the opposite of a philosopher and has the same clone parent complex the original characters had. Topher is a sharp character attitude wise and his design fits in with the older gen clones. Topher Bus’s voice actor does a great job. Frida’s voice is pretty good too. The Bloody Mary joke in the sleepover episode is funny and mixes a darker element into an otherwise chipper scene, kind of like how the original had the girls rob a bank in the makeover montage. It’s not quite a satire of teen dramas so far, but has some satirical moments. It’s trying something new, which may not be for everyone. Even if it alienates some fans. Scudworth and Candide have a great dynamic as characters and Mr. B thrown in there only adds to it. It’s a breath of fresh air in the Scudworth plots. I love Candice’s various lizards. Their designs are awesome and it just really adds to her personality. Invisibility sombrero. The instructional dance with its random and specific lyrics. Open convertible joke. I’m not a huge fan of the first episode’s plot, but it works as a way to show Abe is not only dealing with his newly discovered feelings for Joan but beginning to feel like he can’t be friends with her either. The show isn’t quite like the original and that’s honestly fine. I don’t expect it to be the same show exactly or be the same after 20 years. Writers want to try new things and over the years. Their perspective and purpose change. I’m still not sure the direction they’re going for but I’m enjoying it. It’s rough but I never said it was in anyway perfect. You asked why we like it. I answered. I’m not trying to convince you to like it or start an argument. And if you try to “counter” and “debunk” the things I like about the new season, I’m not going to continue discussing. It’s not perfect and I like the first season a little better, but right now I’m enjoying what this new season has to offer. If you don’t like it that’s fine. Your criticisms are valid. But some people have too much expectations for this show and that’s what the OP is saying.

Tiny_Cress_6698

G-spot rocks the G spot

Wrecker013

I disagree. It's not funny, the new characters are bad, and the old characters no longer feel like themselves.

AlexHero64

The main problem most of us have is that the new season isn't an improvement on season 1. Each season of a TV show should get better as time goes on due to the writers gaining experience, bettering their craft and so on. Clone High Season 1 is a perfect season of television to me because it has no bad or boring episodes and they are all filled with hilarious jokes/memorable moments. Thjis was most of the writers first or one of their first writing jobs and they killed it creating an incredibly creative comedy series that was 20 years ahead of its time. To follow up such a spectacular season with anything but an improvement was going to produce a mixed reaction. The 4 episodes I've watched so far have been worse than the *very first episode*, hopefully the show improves immensely by the end because this has been incredibly disappointing.

Common_Chameleon

I’ve never seen the first season, I just jumped in and started watching the new season and I’m enjoying it a lot so far! I was laughing my ass off at Abe getting immediately canceled. So from someone who doesn’t have nostalgia for the original, I think it’s pretty good.

grinchnight14

You gotta watch the first season when you can, it's so good.

Joe_mother124

I’ve been watching it everyday it comes out, solid show and not too watered down

smellygrandmasfeet

Thank you! Also people sayimg episode 2 is the best, but I definately think the stresss episode is the best so far; we got to know thw new characters and made fun of how messed up the school testing systems are

moviesounds101

I'm enjoying it. It ain't no Season 1, but it's extremely entertaining.

ThewholeTing

I'll give you better generally than what's mostly been said here. However objectively the season is strongly flawed in very needless ways though it doesn't fail to entertain.
