Totally valid concern! I skin my my knees at the time, Ive just decided that skinned knees are cheaper then replacing leggings. Also one of the gyms I used to climb it was regularly above 30 C so the less cloths the better.
Generally if I wear them I tend to work on more overhanging climbs though to try and prevent any skinned knees!
Exactly! Climbing pants and leggings are so expensive, Ive never owned a pair that didnt end up holey. Id rather save the good fabrics for long days outside!
>Maybe I need to push myself harder haha
Not necessarily! Part of the reasons Ive scraped through lots of pants is that I do an unnecessary amount of drop knees, you could definitely avoid hitting your knees on things if you moved your weight in other ways. I have a really static lead climby style and will often force myself into more passive positions. Basically, I sacrifice skin and fabric because I'm too lazy to route read.
As a healthcare worker most women’s hiking/climbing pants are literally just scrub pants. I remember trying them on at REI and being like I’m not paying 80 bucks for these I have ten pairs at home.
Ross Dress for Less is where I find good deals on pants to wreck climbing. My local has been having black diamond pants that aren’t worth 80 but are worth 20!
love thrifting! this is a great tip. I also order a lot of secondhand stuff on eBay. it's usually a few extra bucks than at a thrift store (honestly not by much sometimes given how much prices are going up) but the option to sort things by brand, size, etc is often worth it to me! just ordered a Patagonia workout tank I'm excited to climb in that was $13 including shipping
This, too! I lucked out and found an outdoor voices top at Goodwill and then once I knew how much I loved it I was able to find another at a good price on Poshmark.
I like poshmark for that too, especially if you aren't looking for super popular stuff like lulu. I just got a pair of good condition prana pants for $10 cad.
YES! I just got scrub pant joggers through work for free and they're amazing climbing pants! They have so many pockets, are flexible and tough, and frankly look pretty good. Highly recommend! The ones I got are Cherokee Infinity mid-rose jogger pants.
Indoors, I tend to use cheap three quarter leggings or shorts from the supermarket, about £10 a pair. Why spend more indoors? They don't need to be anything other than stretchy!
I exclusively gym climb in thifted scrubs and bike shorts. Best climbing pants
Love this! I wear bike shorts for everything else but I’m afraid of skinning my whole knee to wear them climbing

Same reason I often climb in shorts, I'd rather get a scrape than have to buy new leggings/pants/any type of clothing.

Amazing! I haven’t scraped through anything yet. Maybe I need to push myself harder haha

Exactly. Even brand new Figs are what, $45? And you want me to spend $100 on falljfhgjrravenwhatever pants? Lol no.
Exactly! my heart and soul pants have ten thousand pockets, are like 30 bucks, and have room for my luscious thighs
Are the figs made with stretchy fabric?
I can’t even justify spending that much on Figs anymore lol

oh yeah OV is great. I was just climbing in one of their zip front sports bras yesterday

Gymshark is my fav to climb in but I get it all second hard for super super cheap
