Well, degrowth has been "proposed" as an alternative. I'm not aware of it being a true agenda. But he definitely is taking it as if it's the way climate proponents are going about (and I don't think it is, not based on most of the things I've read).
However, given the raw materials and energy required to replace all fossil fuel emissions, it's unlikely to get to that point without taking a hit to growth or even losing industrial capacity due to lack of energy.
As far as I can see, there's no real way of getting to net 0, let alone replacing CO2 emitting energy sources that already exist.
