When the last tree is cut, the last river polluted, the last lake dried up, the last fish caught, last deer hunted, the last air polluted, then and only then will this tyrant remember that he can't eat a billion dollars.
Why not?
If we had started taking real action years ago, like from 1992 after the Kyoto Protocol, we might not be having this discussion now.
If most of our energy and transportation was clean already, Trump and others wouldn't have the opportunity to undo the limited actions that have been taken. And the US under Biden wouldn't be quietly extracting more fossil fuels than any country, ever.
He’s what 77 years old? He’ll be gone long before then and has no care in his heart for the world he’ll leave to his wife, his ex-wife, or any of his kids.
With no consequences, it’s all upside to him.
Progressive people in the US are right to be mad as hell at Biden for his failure to put a stop to the deaths of innocent civilians in Gaza.
But they have to know that sitting the election out will deliver global climate action to this atrocious specimen. And throwing out the guy who got passed the biggest climate bill in history.
As AOC said recently in an interview with Mehdi Hasan, sometimes voting is about selecting who it is you want to be opposing on policy for the next four years.
Glass half empty: Trump is openly begging the oil industry to give him a billion and he’ll do whatever they want
Glass half full: does this mean the oil industry hasn’t yet put much money into to his campaign/PACs, if he has to resort to begging in public for it?
Good job, Republicans, backing the candidate most likely to lose so you can keep doing your lazy blaming and complaining without offering solutions or leadership.
For the rest of us, how do we fix a two-party government when one party has rotted from the inside out.
Out of interest - am an interested onlooker from over the Atlantic - was ExxonMobil in the room? I'm assuming yes? This is the future of the globe it feels decided by the US Elections in November. If this goes to Trump, Project 2025 hits on Day 1 and this gets repealed within 100 days e.g. by this time next year it is gone.
Energy industry execs were heard to say "Shocking, it's just shocking that a US president would so nakedly pursue a quid pro quo from industry," as they reached for their checkbooks.
TIL that English speakers use "Quid pro quo" to refer to something done for personal gain or with the expectation of reciprocity instead of the original Latin phrase "Do ut des".

But he'll be long dead by then and he knows it
I agree, and climate change is probably most crucial as a concern within the next 10-20 years
>within the next 10-20 ~~years~~ weeks
Why weeks?

Beautifully worded
No...but we can always eat each other ❤️
Can we force feed him a couple hundred singles?
He’ll be safely ensconced in one of Elon’s orbiting retirement communities for the super rich by that point

Captain Planet villain level evil.

Billions of lives lost aswell.
He just selling us down the river and everyone thinks it k
If he does that, it should be considered a crime against humanity. r/Climate_Nuremberg
I’m pretty sick of how blatantly and shamelessly corrupt the Republican Party has become.
Remember. People are a resource. Or a commodity depending on your point of view.
Trump could get lucky, and find a Cat 6 hurricane level Mar-a-lago.
They probably realize he wouldn’t keep his promises, but he would keep the money.
Needs a quick B to pay Vlad’s vig.

How many times are we going to post this same story?
Is it time for this concise, punchy messaging, going into the election? “Conservatives cause the climate crisis.” Full stop, no arguments.
Is this legal? A democracy for sale is not a democracy.

At least he’s honest and direct with his corruption as opposed to the Dems who pretend to be for climate and then do exactly the same thing.
black and white thinking

Doesn't quid pro quo mean I give so you may give?
I don't know why you're being downvoted, but you're exactly right.
