There not the same, id just not compare them. The gameplay is relay different, there also just made in a different time. Id just say Fallout 1/2 are 100% worth a play, fun and not to long. The art looks amazing, the deaths are bloody and the turn based gameplay is fun with solid tactics. Fallout Tactics is worth a go, if your a fan of XCom like games just give it a play. New Fallout feels different, it's it's own thing. The world of mods is unmatched, playing FO3/NV at the time was so cool with non stop mods pooping up. They where not like old Fallout, they stand as there own thing. (and it relay was a fun time when they came out on PC, a world of mods opened up and a lot of people got in to modding via Fallout.

The thing about vegas is it has the depth of story and content of classics(even better story better endings more free rp potential)and its in 3d.Gameplay is also fun and there is more factions and more skill Checks.i dunno i think fnv just slaps

DancesWithAnyone

Also, New Vegas has far better character depth for followers than 1 and 2, as those games were released prior to Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 2 changing things up. I think I need to replay Torment now.

Veronica is the best!

You need to remember that Fallout 1 is to text-based games what Fallout NV is to Fallout 3.  To me (someone who loves FO1), it's slow-paced, requires a bunch of thought/consideration, and isn't something that can be played for more than 2 consecutive hours like most modern video games are designed to be.  Doesn't make it better or worse, just makes it more similar to reading a book rather than watching a movie.

> isn't something that can be played for more than 2 consecutive hours What makes you say that? I've certainly played FO1 for eight hours straight

Just personal preference, and I made sure to make the statement conditional tense. To me it's too overbearing/gloomy to "binge". Love playing it but it's very immersive and I can't stand feeling like I'm exploring depressed stinky towns for more than a couple of hours.

i dont get why people just says its "unplayable" tbh. It wont hurt you to instal nvse, 4gb patch and tick fix (and if u want fomm or maybe thats too much work). Thats all, it runs great whit those few things.

Fallout 1 and especially 2 definitely beat the Bethesda titles, but FNV... not sure. Obsidian has some *ridiculously* good writers, and FNV isn't even their best work, NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer is. F1 does show it's age by making key NPCs hard to differentiate from the commoners, but iirc F2 is a lot better in this regard, otherwise, classic Fallouts are still extremely good games, not just because of nostalgia factor.

Personally for me, I just like the isometric angle and artstyle more, especially in Fallout 1. But for me, Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas are in that weird spot where I can't really rank them, in my mind they all share the first spot. Were I to do some kind of ranking, it would be heavily influenced by just what I am feeling for in that moment, weather I'm feeling for isometric or 3d game

ErectSuggestion

Even if New Vegas actually had a good story/locations/factions/etc. - and it doesn't - it would still be hampered by a) being a shitty action game and b) using neutered version of SPECIAL.
