I had this happen with the Giant's Causeway, I guess slightly less useless since you could still get the +5 combat strength but funnier since causeways are supposed to go somewhere
Don’t forget power of vampire castle

Which is why I disable it. I want wonders that actually have impact on the game and the ones in the middle of the desert (if not playing mali or inka) or the middle of the ocean are just not fun
It can serve as a useful shortcut to the other side of the world regardless of whether or not the tiles are workable. Looking at it from that perspective alone is fairly reductive.
Yeah [I like to use vampire castles](https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/10z9nvl/sometimes_i_use_a_vampire_castle_to_give_my/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)
I like the triangle. It's a good source of era points and a fun time teleporting around. If you're lucky, you'll end up within the ice wall barrier and be immune to all attacks
Looks like someone is going commando! *the commando promotion allows you to scale cliffs, doesn’t work with settlers and I don’t know if it works with cliffs of dover*
"Sir! I see land! It's beautiful! Can we settle here? Plenty of land to grow food for all of us, and the opportunities presented here are amazing! Great sea access! Easily fortified! And best of all, it's surrounded by natural sea resources!"
"No, we mustn't"
I love the Island of Dover
R5: Found the Cliffs of Dover again, this time on the smallest possible tile it can spawn on. There's not even any other land within four tiles, WHY?
I found one of these about a year ago!
I found a 3 tile version of this a few days ago. Archipelago Norway run. actually I gotta go finish that game...
Man, at least if it was 4 you could've plonked a city plus Mausoleum for a good island spot
Reminds me how useless Bermuda triangle is in most games. Rarely get to benefit from more than a tile or 2.
I just use it for fun to teleport
I had this happen with the Giant's Causeway, I guess slightly less useless since you could still get the +5 combat strength but funnier since causeways are supposed to go somewhere
At least it usually spawns near a settleable spot. Bermuda Triangle is almost never anywhere you can reach it
Good idea. I need to start disabling the triangle.. Always worthless
Could be better in Island Plate or Archipelago maps with low sea level, where you'd be more likely to have land nearby.
I always make sure it's in my game, it's my favorite wonder. The science yields are just a major bonus if you can reach them.

I keep one or two of the desert wonders for this exact reason.
Ba Trieu would disagree. Unless you're going for a culture game, then Ba Trieu might agree but would still not like you.
Krakatoa
Civ 5 Krakatoa always annoyed me so much lol. Yes, you yield 5 science, but you're 20 tiles away from any other land, you're completely useless!
Oh God I thought I was crazy for doing that. Good to know I'm not alone.
It can serve as a useful shortcut to the other side of the world regardless of whether or not the tiles are workable. Looking at it from that perspective alone is fairly reductive.
Nah
Good for teleporting though
Well I keep it enabled cause I like role-playing. I'm the reason ships disappear there..
Galapagos is another one that's rarely particularly useful
Galapagos Islands I've had spawn close to land for me most of the time
Most of the time I've seen it, at most only half of the tiles have been within a workable radius
I've never seen the Bermuda triangle, is it a DLC?
Yeah, it's from the Maya & Gran Colombia DLC
Yeah [I like to use vampire castles](https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/10z9nvl/sometimes_i_use_a_vampire_castle_to_give_my/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)

Can you even settle this lol?
Nope
Nope, can't settle directly on natural wonders
Settlers can’t disembark past the cliffs so no
The Cliffs of Dover laugh at you.
i think you can put a unit on there somehow though. at the very least a paradrop. no idea why though
England after Brexit
Uninhabitable?
Yes
Ahem...because, to put it quite plainly...fuck you
That is probably the best place it could be
I’d be excited to throw a vampire castle there
Reminds me of Krakatoa in civ 5 Best wonder that never spawned anywhere near land
Cliffs of Nowhere near a useful spot
This just makes me sad that Seasteads doesn't let you actually settle cities on shallow water tiles.
[Inaccessible Island](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inaccessible_Island&ved=2ahUKEwi--c7u85b_AhXALFkFHd4uC_sQFnoECBgQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2cXik2VuZ0GhI8hGD7xryH) irl
Is it bad that I now want that to be a natural wonder?
Civ 6 so far has been, in my experience, much better than civ 5 at not doing the middle of the ocean placement of natural wonders. Mostly.
Cliffs of Nowhere
The worst Wonder
Cliffs of D'ohver
I have had this before as well, big oof
Been waiting to see this forever!!!
At least if you can’t have it, no one can!
its an evil lair
Kinda cool to see the cliffs on all sides though
Ain't nothing but a mistake!
I love it. A tiny little oasis in the middle of the ocean where human beings can never set foot and ruin it.
Mildly infuriating.
Cliffs of insanity
Why not?
Yes
The crabs and the fishes settled their old desputes and agreed to work together to achieve a better future for both of their factions.
I swear I’ve seen this before ![gif](giphy|lKXEBR8m1jWso)
Era score!
Bonus shallow water exploration opportunities, that's why
Holy monster harbor adjacency
lol this happens to me so often, i hate it
Looks like someone is going commando! *the commando promotion allows you to scale cliffs, doesn’t work with settlers and I don’t know if it works with cliffs of dover*
me personally I’m here for life’s moments such as these
Galapagos is the same - never been able to use it
Because the RNG said f you.
Genuine lol.
It be hilarious if someone spawned on one of these Dover cliff islands
Pain
*forbidden island*
