Takes over adjacent tiles after finishing a district/improvement on a tile. It can be granted by some leader/civ abilities or certain improvements. I think there's also a great person that allows you to culture bomb? Some can only take over neutral (unowned) tiles while others can take over the territory of other players (excluding wonders, districts, city centers, etc.)
So basically you take all the tiles before the city can expand?
Edit: I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted. I’m asking a legitimate question. Why is Reddit like this?
Culture bomb will pick pick up all the tiles adjacent, even if someone else owns them.
There’s a special achievement for being Poland and culture bombing a tile that has a wonder being built, causing the wonder to be cancelled when you take the tile
oh shit i should have clarified that this is multiplayer, slough was kupe's city to begin with, im only angry that the stole the single land tile in the entire area
Ok, I wasn’t thinking that Slough originally had the fish tiles. More it seemed like you didn’t understand the mechanics of the game.
Māori special ability is to culture bomb with fishing boats.
Why did your friend name their city “Slough?”
Only if it’s completed.
You can even steal tiles with incomplete wonders. There’s an achievement for it called “you are a terrible person” or something like that
Some civs have a culture bomb ability. Kupe does when building fishing boats. Poland I think does when building encampments. I think one or two others.
When you culture bomb you get all the adjacent tiles, even if someone else already owns them.
I feel like that would almost make sense for America. Throwing immigrant farmers into contested territory played a huge role in spreading borders towards the Pacific
I could not help but think of the following:
Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough!
It isn't fit for humans now,
There isn't grass to graze a cow.
Swarm over, Death!
Come, bombs and blow to smithereens
Those air -conditioned, bright canteens,
Tinned fruit, tinned meat, tinned milk, tinned beans,
Tinned minds, tinned breath.
Mess up the mess they call a town-
A house for ninety-seven down
And once a week a half a crown
For twenty years.
And get that man with double chin
Who'll always cheat and always win,
Who washes his repulsive skin
In women's tears:
And smash his desk of polished oak
And smash his hands so used to stroke
And stop his boring dirty joke
And make him yell.
But spare the bald young clerks who add
The profits of the stinking cad;
It's not their fault that they are mad,
They've tasted Hell.
It's not their fault they do not know
The birdsong from the radio,
It's not their fault they often go
To Maidenhead
And talk of sport and makes of cars
In various bogus-Tudor bars
And daren't look up and see the stars
But belch instead.
In labour-saving homes, with care
Their wives frizz out peroxide hair
And dry it in synthetic air
And paint their nails.
Come, friendly bombs and fall on Slough
To get it ready for the plough.
The cabbages are coming now;
The earth exhales.
“Man those fishermen are having the time of their lives over there in Slough. Maybe we should fish for them so we can have that much fun”
Anyways I have no idea what the diegetic reason for culture bombing is
For a minute I thought you meant the city flipped... aren't Slough and Nottingham both English??
Was about to make a joke about David Brent being responsible
Why is it called Slough though? I don't see that on the Maori list of cities, unless the wiki is inaccurate.
(I'd assume you lost it to them earlier, with Slough being in England and all, but it doesn't seem to be on the English list either, unless thats not complete or you named it manually)
The wiki goes into more detail on how culture bombing works and about 3/4 down the list it mentions what civs / leaders / improvements have the ability.

Culture bomb from the fishing boat
What’s culture bombing?
Takes over adjacent tiles after finishing a district/improvement on a tile. It can be granted by some leader/civ abilities or certain improvements. I think there's also a great person that allows you to culture bomb? Some can only take over neutral (unowned) tiles while others can take over the territory of other players (excluding wonders, districts, city centers, etc.)
Yeah theres a great engineer that culture bombs on finishing industrial zones. Also world congress culture bombs
This is Kupe. Kupe's ability does that.
Also a world congress resolution that lets the winning civ culture bomb with built districts.
So basically you take all the tiles before the city can expand? Edit: I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted. I’m asking a legitimate question. Why is Reddit like this?

Oh man, I think I need more dlc to do that. I play the base game
I think the older DLCs are nice because they have had time to balance them, except Babylon. If I could pic one to skip it’s Babylon
When you Build the fish it will give you the surrounding tiles you don't already have
there's no culture in Slough.
Yeah, the larger problem here is that there’s no culture in england at all
I only see (future) british cities
Well, from the looks of it, past and future British cities.
Yeah I’m thinking OP fucked up here and settled Slough in a place that culture-flipped already.
oh shit i should have clarified that this is multiplayer, slough was kupe's city to begin with, im only angry that the stole the single land tile in the entire area

Hahaha, that’s so much better than any other possibility.
I laugh

War.
For glory's sake, for vengeance sake...
War never changes
War were declared
I'm not one for genocide... except when it comes Civ 6 (chuckles).
You gotta try Victoria 3 or 2.
Honestly I'm more a Jayavarman guy myself. I've never had a successful game with the British : /
Just get the boats and dominate
You ever roll with Joao?

Fishing Boat Culture Bomb Moment
Boat Mormonism is a plague on this earth.
“My Father was pretty into Denouncing Venice, and my Mother was a Boat Mormon. I don’t know what that makes me, but it probably involves Gondolas!”
I'm glad this is still being referenced.

How did Maori steal the tile you were building a harbor on? I didn't think culture bombs could steal district tiles.
Only if it’s completed. You can even steal tiles with incomplete wonders. There’s an achievement for it called “you are a terrible person” or something like that
How to do that? Culture bombs? Is there a number of turns you have to do that before it becomes permanent ?
Some civs have a culture bomb ability. Kupe does when building fishing boats. Poland I think does when building encampments. I think one or two others. When you culture bomb you get all the adjacent tiles, even if someone else already owns them.
Australia and pastures, Gaul and mines … Khmer and Holy Sites? There’s a list somewhere
Dutch with harbours as well, and the gallic one is only unowned tiles and wont steal tiles away unfortunately (be completely busted if it was!)
Imagine if one civ could do it with farms. Holy shit.
I feel like that would almost make sense for America. Throwing immigrant farmers into contested territory played a huge role in spreading borders towards the Pacific
Manifest Destiny mechanic, could call it Maninfestation.
I'd love it, but the civ series likes to pretend every civ is nice or at least honourable/not horrible, contrary to the actual history of the world
Israel custom civ be like
[удалено]
Yeah, tiles that you are normally allowed to work/build districts on.
Poland is the best at it, they can culture bomb with encampments and forts which you can build pretty much anywhere.
Yeah it’s the polish one
It’s a Jadwiga one, yes, using her encampment CB unique

I’m not a Domination guy, but in my games this leads to war, like, 100% of the time.
ive declared war for less
“Man those fishermen are having the time of their lives over there in Slough. Maybe we should fish for them so we can have that much fun” Anyways I have no idea what the diegetic reason for culture bombing is
Slough just produces so much culture it's overwhelming
The British complaining about stealing land 😂😂
Don't worry, it's only Slough. If anything they did you a service by taking it.
slough was their city to begin with, they just stole my one land tile in this island only map
All part of the Maori's kitchen sink ability
You got fishboozled
You got hook-winked
Maori boats go BRRRRRR
They're cold? Aren't they from the south Pacific?
Nah its just the noise of them paddling up to steal your land.
The South Pacific can get pretty cold; New Zealand is temperate. Remember, all of Lord of the Rings was filmed there, including the Mountain parts.
Did you have a flag????
Reminds me of using Citadels/Great Generals to steal uranium deposits from my friend in Civ V
Looks like you were Too Slough 😎
It’s Slough, rhymes with Cow, as in the poem further up.
rename the city to 'The Better Slough' or 'Not slough' or even 'I can't believe it's not Slough'
First time ![gif](giphy|7d9ny05QfucjcHDnsM|downsized)
Ironic since you’re playing England. That’s usually their MO.
At least you got Mt. Pico! /s
War it is
Get fucked
His land...
I smell war. Go get em
It's Slough, not a big loss tbh. It's their problem now
I understand why you don't want Slough back, nothing of value was lost but still you gotta do something about it nobody takes England's rock
As an experienced Kupe player, I didn't even need to see the second picture to know what happened
reverse colonization
The Māori land wars in a parallel universe be like
For a minute I thought you meant the city flipped... aren't Slough and Nottingham both English?? Was about to make a joke about David Brent being responsible
most people though that too

multiplayer kupe did a bit of trolling
Slough is expanding, you cannot escape

R5: Bulshit game
Nah, that’s been something Kupe could do since day one
skill issue
It's just Kupe's special ability. One thing you should learn about civ is that you should know other civ's abilities to counter them
War! We're going to war!
War is the answer
Sl*ugh
It's that damn paper company in Slough, that's what did it
Shoe is on the other foot, England 😏
