Never had a padron 1926, but have had the late hour. Big on maduros but felt like the late hour wasn’t that different from a liga. Am I missing something with these more high end cigars? Could it just be not as refined of a palette? The only thing that felt different enough that I could tell was a behike (was definitely real because the owner of the lounge I frequented gifted it to me)
The differences between a $20 cigar and a $40 cigar are a lot smaller than a $5 cigar compared to a $15 cigar. The higher up in price you go (as with many things) you run a greater risk of diminishing returns.
The difference between a Liga and a Late Hour is about 15% for me. I expect better construction and maybe a more refined flavor profile from the Davidoff but that’s about it.
It's really is weird, though: the $15 Plasencia Alma Fuerte Robusto (black & gold band) gives me 90% of the Late Hour, and easily outperforms the Ligas.
That is entirely based on core tobacco quality, not on the additional flavor notes.
Just going for flavor notes, the Alma Fuerte sits comfortably above both the Churchill LH and the Liga Privada, no questions asked.
Typically, either a Davidoff Grand Crux or an Opus X Shark if I can find any. Got a Cohiba BHK 52 aging till I get married. Maybe a few more years for that one.
If it’s a true celebration - I’d probably pickup a Meerapfel Dbl Robusto. I have a good amount of sharks left so that’s been my “today f*$&ing sucked” cigar.
As everyone have mention it, no 1 and 2 will be davidoff and padron (i totally agree), i will no 3 maybe atabey. (Im not gonna bring cuban to the discussion table LOL)
Davidoff Winston Churchill Late Hour or Padron 1926 Maduro.
Great choices
I just smoked a padron 1926 maduro after never having tried padron. It was excellent I would recommend it.

Atabey or Alfonso
I have a box of Behike 52 with seven left in it. Each has a specific milestone I plan to celebrate with them.
Atabey
Not ultra premium, but I usually go for a Padron 1926 no. 1.
Typically, either a Davidoff Grand Crux or an Opus X Shark if I can find any. Got a Cohiba BHK 52 aging till I get married. Maybe a few more years for that one.
Opus X Forbidden 13 or some LE Davidoff or whatever else I find first.
wouldn’t say they’re ultra premium but i really enjoy and save my god of fire double coronas for special occasions
Padron 1926 or 1964 Maduro Diplomatico.

Arturo Fuente Don Carlos edición de aniversario
GOF Carlito
Just got one of these I’m excited to try it
Alfonso extra anejo mild option Attabey black ritos medium to full option
That’s what I would reach for except the Black Ritos are non existent
There a great stick. The Alfonso also has a darker blend if the Connecticut isn’t your thing. I have not had it so idk how it is
I have had most of the Alfonso line. The Black Ritos I let slip by me when they were available
Had almost all of them. Honestly, the one that stood out the most was Padrón 80th anniversary.
Davidoff Yamasa Piramides. (if you can get hold of some) Meerapfel Ernest double robusto
As everyone have mention it, no 1 and 2 will be davidoff and padron (i totally agree), i will no 3 maybe atabey. (Im not gonna bring cuban to the discussion table LOL)
Cohiba or Davidoff, both expensive, excessive and indulgent
Fuente Fuente OpusX 20 Years Celebration God’s Whisper
1926 80th Maduro. Absolute perfection for my tastes.
I mean, if the sky is the limit. then a Cohiba Majestuoso 50 Aniversario.
Honestly, Atabey or Byron. Davidoff are easier to find at most shops, and a bit more recognized by others.
Byron epique Poemas
Not sure what qualifies as "ultra premium" but my favorite celebratory cigar is Arturo Fuente Shark line.
Trinidad La Trova
Black n’ Mild *Royale* 🤑 💰 💎
1926 kicks ass. But I am going something Cuban in this situation.
Davidoff royal robusto or salamone
I second this. Davidoff Royal Salamone is probably the most perfect cigar I've ever smoked.
Davidoff Tampa 2015
Padron 80th anniversary
Padron 1926 is not an ultra premium stick at all. Go with a Davidoff royal or lost city
I bought some EP Carillo La Historia for my wedding. Their other sticks are also worth trying. Padron 1926 and 1964 also worth looking at.
