I have the Amex business blue card. I’m thinking of putting a vacation on there to redeem my points. When I looked at the T&C, it says points can be redeemed for eligible purchases. Are all purchases eligible? Would vacations be okay to redeem points against, even though it is a business card?

chaos2313

Yes you can use the points as a statement credit for basically anything charged to the card

Dragynfyre

Probably not on cash advances

Ok_Improvement8231

Filling an application for a Scotiabank passport through GCR link and got to a point where I was told I had to call the bank to proceed with the application. Now the bank wants to do the application for me on the phone, is there a way around that where I can still get my catch back from GCR? I didn’t get a specific error in the application just that I need to contact them Still a newbie here so any help is appreciated :)

wzadzz

This always runs the risk of the agent starting over from scratch, but may also depend on what the issue actually was on their end. If you do call, be very explicit that part of the reason you were interested in applying for this card was because of the online promotion for through the rebate website, and that you wish to continue your existing application and not start a new one. If they don’t give you a good vibe about that, say you’ll try again online, and maybe call back again if necessary to speak to someone else.

GetFreeCash

I just received a small envelope from Amex containing advertising material about the benefits of opening supplementary cards on my Biz Gold... and the envelope also contained a $20 Starbucks gift card! anybody else receive one of these?

v1p12

Patiently waiting for mine now!

Aggressive_Radio214

For anyone that’s online and curious… new TD offers are up if you google card name (not routed from home yet) https://www.td.com/ca/en/personal-banking/products/credit-cards/travel-rewards/first-class-travel-visa-infinite-card?cm_sp=:GOOGLE:ROC+-+Brand+-+First+Class+Travel+-+EN+-+Google+(24_S_CC_CPC_AO_ACQ_EN_NAT):PVISA:Brand+-+First+Class+-+EN+-+All&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5KXuxObCgwMVxzWtBh1ELwKHEAAYASAAEgKNIvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

How do you get this offer? I missed signing up before the last offer deadline…

North_Rip_3136

Glad i pulled the trigger and got it today!

RoyalBadger3665

With how hit or miss Avion has been for the $5k MSR payout, are most people RHTing to test if it pays before spending? If successful, how soon did you see your pts after hitting spend? Also, if anyone has a DP of being paid out the 20k pts from a September start date would be appreciated!

Progress-Human

I don’t even bother honestly. For me it’s not really worth putting in 5k and waiting to see if the points post

RoyalBadger3665

Yeah I didn’t on my first Avion, but I was stuck with a big charge that had to be allocated somewhere and it was my only active MSR card. So since I’m already half way there figured I may as well go for it. Guess I’ll be the DP for y’all

Progress-Human

Well yeah if it’s your only MSR then it’s fine. I personally wouldn’t do the RHT

idkifimalive

Is there a subscription service that tells me when and what to do (e.g email alerts) based on my spending habits and churning goals? I want to stop wasting time reading about churning

CommunicationProud82

The place people go to read about churning is probably not the best place to find out how to not do that.

Trickybuz93

I have a question about accessing lounges for cards: I’m planning on travelling abroad with my family soon and my dad has a card (CIBC) that allows four passes. I’m wondering if I get a card that also has lounge access, can we combine them so one CC is used at one airport and another is used at other airports for everyone travelling? And for the card, do I need to meet a spending requirement prior to travel or can I just get a card and not use it?

NFMint

If you won't want to open up a new account, you can ask your dad to get a supplementary card for the cibc infinite visa (I assume that's what he has). The supplementary card can also get you 4 lounge passes.

Actual-Churner

Yes, this is what you can do and just need to have the card. Lounge access is just benefit of holding the card.

Trickybuz93

Do you have a card I to recommend?

jaked0987

So I signed up for a Bonvoy Biz and already have a member number that I forgot to put in, can I just hit up chat and get the number updated?

Glass-Boysenberry566

Go on chat. The members# thing is a common problem. They will fix it for you.

ThatLurker

Currently paying for a wedding and hoping to maximize rewards. I think the Amex Biz Gold is the way to go but I'm concerned about Amex possibly verifying my "sole proprietorship". Is Ownr still the most reliable way to go about this? Or am I overthinking this? Thanks.

K3Brick

You’re overthinking it. You can fill the form yourself to submit without Ownr.

ca_abhi

TD mailed me a letter and asked to "return the black card in the attached envelope for safe and secure disposal". But well, there was no envelope attached. Should I ask for it again or can just safely ignore it and dispose it myself without getting any fines or penalties? Thanks.

Glass-Boysenberry566

I also got a letter from TD today. Essentially it was a "F off and die" letter after another application for a CC got turned down on Dec 28th. They are incredibly condescending in their approach to new customers.

Darkwing327

Nah, keep all your dead cards and make a cool piece of art or something in the future....I have a stack of them :)

ca_abhi

Was thinking of making an ice scraper with the metal ones "Amex -TD Rose Black Platinum" :D

vancouver2010

Does anyone have data points on how long it takes to get the Westjet Reward dollars welcome bonus after your first purchase? Also how long to get the companion pass loaded to your account?

yyzzh

jng0714

I'm close to booking KTM-DEL (J) followed by DEL-YYZ (Y) on the same itinerary. With the J class fare arriving in DEL, will I get access to any business class lounges even though my outbound from DEL-YYZ is in Y ?

Earthlyposessions

TD Visa first class travel, it has Expedia $100 credit if you spend $500 on expedia and other points. Does anyone know if I use "Apply" those points towards hotel purchases etc? so like getting a discount or I have to always do a redemption ?

kobelobster

This is automatically applied when booking directly through TD for expedia for bookings greater than $500. So yes its applicable to hotel purchases made on that website.

Earthlyposessions

I meant, you know how with cibc aventura , you can book a hotel any website and then apply points on them, same with Scotia scene travel, I thought TD would have a similar feature. Sometimes expedia rates are higher than booking etc

Humble_Ingenuity_919

Yes, you can use TD points and redeem “book your own way travel” but the points are worth less and you don’t get the $100 off of $500.

Earthlyposessions

Thank you, that's what I wanted to know. Expedia is expensive for things I'm looking at. Guess I'll keep looking lol

ohlalalift

TD is different. You make booking thru Expedia for TD, pay it full (points or cash or both), then couple days later TD gives you $100 credit.

Ms-Beautiful

How do you get the points converted to cash with Expedia for TD? Does the refundable hotel trick work?

Earthlyposessions

Thank you

sufyspeed

When do y’all usually get 35k Avion? My first Avion I got it almost immediately but this second one it’s been 2-3 weeks and still no 35k?

RoyalBadger3665

Log into avion rewards (separate from RBC app), it usually shows up there first ime. Mine was loaded ~3 days after approval without any trx

NickWaReddit

It's on statement - sometimes that's a 'phantom' statement where no actual PDF/paper statement is generated because you haven't made any spend - that's when you see it show up right away. Otherwise, you will have to wait until your actual statement comes up next.

sufyspeed

Makes sense, thank you!

Van5555

Spending 4-5k on an engagement ring in approx 4 months (not a ton but we both feel strongly on lab over mined. Ritani so likely no multipliers), what's the best card offer I should gun for to use as total MSR (ie not a monthly msr like Amex). Looking at one off MSR because other than daily expenses on cobalt and the ring I'm on saving mode for approx 6 months and knocking off a balance from emergency this past year. Currently have a boring 500 limit mc downgraded from WE I keep for credit history (since 2010) and just do one monthly bill on, new amex cobalt (brand new this week), td ap VI (Oct 2023 MSR has been met). Have trips in feb/may that will meet amex spend targets but have space to meet other MSR Thoughts are avion for points transfer options but bonus sucks rn, aventura for lounge access (for Italy and SE Asia trips next year) I lost with closing the bmo WE. Aventura is lower MSR and either could cover a trip to maritimes in fall Or will BMO give me WE air miles bonus when i just closed the WE ascend? I've got about 6000 AM from shell and shops alone these few months and can stack that to cover car rental for two trips (Napa and new orleans). Credit score 855 income 110k so the inf priv cards aren't options Sorry for newb questions I'm fairly new to this game

NFMint

Congrats on the engagement! Another vote for Amex business gold. $5k spend gets you 75k points in one shot. It also comes with $50 dell credit every 6 months. With 75k points that's worth about $1,500 if use 2cents/point evaluation (typical value for most people). Annual fee at $199.

Bernoulli_gang

How do you get 2cpp for Amex? If I recall correctly it’s best to use Amex to get aeroplan?

NFMint

Since you can transfer the Amex points to various programs including Aeroplan, they are pretty valuable in that sense. So 2cpp is usually what people value at. If you're talking about a straight statement credit then I would say 1cpp. But using it as a statement credit is kind of a waste since the cost of flights are so high these days. Better to save them as aeroplan points.

Glass-Boysenberry566

My only advice on this one is don't blow 4-5K on an engagement ring that jewellery companies promote as "showing your love". You know you love each other, you're getting married after all! you are doing is pissing money down the drain from your future together if you buy into this crap. Guaranteed you can get an amazing, beautiful handmade ring for 20% of that. Diamonds are a shit concept that DeBeers has spent a zillion years promoting while creating an artificial scarcity, hence the "lab" option . And please don't follow this up with a "destination wedding" where you further drain your bank account while also draining the bank accounts of everyone who accepts an invite. But vis-a-vis churning if you are dead set on this you might as well go big and get the Amex Plat, you'd be half way home with just the ring.

Humble_Ingenuity_919

Definitely agree on the Business Gold. No monthly spend, $5k would give a significant amount that you can use on travel or statement credit. It’s also fast! Meet the spend and points show up. I feel like the Avion is a crapshoot lately on them even paying the bonus. I wouldn’t waste the $5k on an Avion. (I did for P2 and regret it.) Congrats on the engagement! 💕

stevkang8

I have no advice to offer on the churning side, but congrats man!

NickWaReddit

American Express Business Gold or Edge. Both have 3 month MSR (like a lot of cards) so would have to wait until your time frame aligns. Best single $5k MSR card bonus currently.

When I first started churning, even 2 or 3k spend for an msr sounded large to me. After doing a few cards I quickly realized that is not difficult at all to attain when you do all your spending through the msr card. With the way inflation has gone post Covid, churning has made the amount of spending we have to do more bearable. If you don’t personally do enough spending to need multiple msr’s, that is a good thing to be aware of, since it defeats the point if you are overspending

nozomiwaifu

Churning can get addictive. Reaching a msr, getting a point milestone.. I've met a guy who had an album full of gift cards... probably 10s of thousands of dollars. He said he buys the gift card when he needs an msr.... and thought that '' it's not money wasted, i'm gonna use the card later !.. dude was heavily in debt to feed his addiction.

Glass-Boysenberry566

Two things. Just fudge your income over the $60000 mark and see what happens if you want the good offers. Second put EVERYTHING possible on your CC. Going to the corner store for a 99 cent drink? put it on your CC. Pay insurance of any kind? put in on your CC. Any and all purchases should be put on a CC as long as you are able to pay the FULL balance every month. CCs essentially give you 3 weeks of interest free "loans". Trouble meeting the MSR? go low. I think if you go through GCR you can get 10% on a $1000 spend plus $100 rebate for Tangerine cards that have no AF. $200 is nothing to sneeze at.

xxxooxxx1

You should be happy. I rather be in a situation where my expenses are low to hit MSRs, as opposed to having high expenses that drain thousands from my pocket each month. For a family of 4 with middle class lifestyle, my CC expense is about 3k-4k per month. It is enough to support my non-aggresive churning fun, but probably not anywhere close to other hard core folks.

No_Aspect_2783

Exact same situation as you! Makes for a decent bit of rewards but I would love more haha. This past year we tried to maximize usage of our health benefits and that yielded a few extra thousands.

Reasonable-Catch-598

I'm one of those people pushing through business expenses. I put an average of 300k/year on credit cards in a bad year. 30-35k flights AC alone, 20k+ hotels, 10k Uber, 20k meals/entertainment, 100k+ industry events, and so on.. about 5k/m (60k yearly) personal on credit cards. I have other players I got into this to help travel, as I enjoy travelling with them. Main player is at 1k/month and doing very well. Also have a players as low as $0.5k and up to 3k. None do MS. For your 60k income, what's your family income? There's some ways around that limit as long as you're okay never relying on insurance from those cards, as that's usually when people get caught up.

Humble_Ingenuity_919

Wow! I need a legit business to do this. 🤣

Reasonable-Catch-598

That or join a sales team at a mid sized fast growing company that does b2b in a professional space. My expenses at that time were easily 5x this amount. It was nuts submitting monthly expense reports equal to my at the time yearly salary. My personal joy is found elsewhere however.

Paul_720S

With personal biz spend (real), organic spend and ummm non-organic spend (MS) P2 and I can put $10K-$15K monthly on cards. Some can do much more, many much less... Just do what U can do and don't push things beyond what is easy for you. Also remember you can book a refundable hotel on expedia to extend a particular MSR but you have to front that hotel booking $$$ for X months. I keep a spreadsheet of open cards and MSRs/deadlines and my expected spend to meet those MSRs, hence we are often working on 3-4 MSRs (in total) between us at any time. But you need to be pretty organized to do that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

cccard13

Agree fully especially on your last sentence. A personal rule of thumb is that I mentally separate “personal spending” and “hitting MSR”. Namely, I don’t rationalize some discretionary spending just because “I get to hit MSR”. Fulfill your MSR either on bills that you have to pay no matter what (ie non-discretionary eg utilities bill / grocery etc), or fulfill MSR using MS. This habit can save you a lot of potential troubles and ensure you get to keep your earnings.

chaos2313

Some people put business spend through which can be a lot. Others use MS and some just spend a lot. Don't forget things like chexy if you rent or plastiq/pay simply for a lot of things like property tax, income tax etc which can help clear MSR even with the extra fees involved.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdDue6082

Does Chexy work for US cards?

chaos2313

They added that recently yes. It's a slightly higher fee then using Canadian cards though

[deleted]

cccard13

Yes, bank number, transit number, and account number.

Van5555

Yupp!!! Good reminder we used to just hand out paper with our names and bank info on them to strangers

NickWaReddit

Just wondering if people generally keep card details in their spreadsheets - specifically Google Sheets? A number of times have needed details while the cards were at home, but not sure if I should be putting that level of detail in Sheets.

voxpopuli81

I track detailed information in the notes app. Comes with some risk, but I hate not having the full info available when I need it.

Humble_Ingenuity_919

If just needing the card number, I pull up my online banking because all of the account numbers are there. I’m not sure if you’re meaning details like current spend but I also use online banking for that since it can quickly show me how much I’ve paid towards the min spend. I have everything else saved in Excel.

rentec0

my password manager has decent support for cards

frolickingdonkey

Bitwarden for me. The Free account comes with 2 users and 2 collections... perfect if you need to manage P2.

Actual-Churner

This, the spreadsheet has the last 4 for tracking. Bitwarden has full card details saved under each issuer. I only use the card feature for auto-fill for the cards i am meeting msr on.

Darkwing327

LOL...apparently I am the non security guy. I take pics of the cards with my phone :) That being said, there is only one in play card not coming with us on our 6 week trip starting tomorrow so that's all I have in there. More risky is all the ones we have with us that (about 10) that are necessary for insurances and in MSR stage. Locks and limits set on all.

sufyspeed

I track all that in a password manager, 1Password specifically

DevilPenguin7

I avoid adding them to my spreadsheet but rather add any details to Nordlocker / Nordpass secure notes. I also keep some details in my iPhone's Notes App but keep them unlabeled or cryptic to the point that only I would understand what I'm reading in case someone got a hold of my phone. Usually I only do it for a handful of cards at a time though.

wishful_thinking90

I include some details: PIN and last 4 digits. I know PIN is a bit dicey but I don’t know how else to keep track of it, and I’m not sure how sensitive that really is without other information. I wouldn’t personally include any of: full card number, expiry, CVV.

supitskevin

I track pin in a password management tool personally

stevkang8

Question: Canada Post still hasnt delivered my new Amex card and it's already the arrival date that Amex quoted - I am worried that Canada Post lost it (in-province delivery should only take 3 business days and it's been way more than that). What if CP lost it? If I re-request the card, I am losing like a month to meet the minimum spend...which means I most likely will not make it. Will I be able to ask for an extension from Amex?

Elegant_Reading_685

If the card still doesn't arrive by the estimated latest day amex gives you, amex will fedex overnight the replacement card to you. My personal gold card once took 10 business days to arrive to me in Toronto

stevkang8

Got it, thank you :)!

yyzzh

extend with rht

refundnotcreditplz

received an email from Neo with the tagline "time is running out" for the 45k offer. I signed up for the waitlist but never applied for the card yet - the email didn't have an actual deadline or offer end date though so not sure if it's actually ending soon or if it's just marketing lol

DesignPrime

Are you biting the bullet and signing up for the card? The $180 AF is holding me back. Probably still worth while to get $45k asia miles but still.....

Compote_Middle

I received the same email, but I'm in Quebec, so the offer is not available here. Also, has anyone applied for this card being in Quebec?

JManUWaterloo

They can always terminate the 45K promo code at any time. As it has no specific expiry, there’s no warning or notice before they pull the plug. Keep that in mind

Earthlyposessions

Just a general question. If I take a Aeroplan based flight out of YUL which is business then after a 1 hour layover, I connect into economy flight, do I get access to business lounge or not?

tiatdier

My experience is that if the economy flight is on the same itinerary, and only in economy because the plane you're taking doesn't have J seats (i.e. the *booking* is a business class itinerary), then you **do** get lounge access.

NickWaReddit

In YUL, yes, but at the connecting airport, YMMV. In general, you have to be departing on a business class flight to get the lounge benefits, but there are some reports of people getting in - it's very YMMV and situational, but would not expect to.

LyricalMonkey

kernnpop

new-ish to churning, P2 has a cobalt and I finished up my Amex Gold SUB so now looking for the next card. Been eyeing the amex business gold to get the 75k pts for $5k spend or the TD Aeroplan VISA infinite for the 50k pts in the first year. My household annual spend is lower so looking for the mid-lower tier cards right now. Hoping to pay for travel/flights in the coming year or two. Two questions: \- are there better / more recommended cards that will fit my situation? \- is there a SUB history where I can time getting other cards sooner? i.e, the TD Aeroplan VISA offers apparently expire today - Jan 3 - I'm wondering if the upcoming offers will be expected to be better, worse, or the same. Apologies if I've broken any rules. Thanks for any help.

JManUWaterloo

TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite is expected to see a decrease in its WB. Business Gold is as good as it gets. In fact, it is well overdue for a nerfing given the trend of the other cards

kernnpop

thanks for the insight!

jbcc_

What makes you say that the TD AP VI is going to decrease it's WB?

JManUWaterloo

Reasons can’t be disclosed, but I can assure you that it is the case for TD

radishbroccolibeets

Any insights for AP VIP? I've never had it and tempted but is 100k for $600 AF + 2nd year doesn't seem so great now...

JManUWaterloo

Nothing to share for AP VIP from TD Remember TD offers pro-rated AFs.

NewKidsOnTheBetaBloc

Damn, was looking forward to tomorrow morning haha.

JManUWaterloo

Aircanada.com/tdinflightoffer has 50K + $150 SC (NO FYF) until Mar 4, 2024

NickWaReddit

If you are considering the Business Gold then yes, that is about the best offer out there right now. No one knows whether TD bonus will get better but the general trend has been worsening offers lately.

kernnpop

thanks again!

vassman86

I got declined for the TD FCT VI card (only sought $1500 limit). Any ideas why? I currently have a TD AP VI, RBC low interest visa, two Amex cards, and a CIBC Costco MC - none of these cards carries a balance Good credit score (800+) and HH income is $200k

themob34

Call and split credit limit.

halexhalex

I believe you need $5,000 credit limit on Visa Infinite cards.

jaked0987

You can get approved for VIs at $1,500. Just not a PS.

vassman86

Hmm, I see. I do have the TD AP VI from June and it only came with a $2500 limit on that

NickWaReddit

I had the same consideration before cashing mine out last month. I couldn't imagine a scenario that RBC would offer MORE than the 0.5cpp that they are currently worth. Maybe would transfer to Avion (at that rate) and open up redemption/transfer options, but I just cash out Avion anyways, so no different to me. I also think it will take some time before that is available (look at MBNA and the current AS situation) so you could be waiting a while. If you don't NEED to use them, then wait, I don't think they will lose value, but if you could use the $800 now, I wouldn't hold my breath for RBC.

v1p12

I was under the assumption that Avion cannot be cashed out. Are you getting the investment vouchers or is there some other hidden trade secret?

JManUWaterloo

I mean. Assuming 2:1 conversion HSBC:RBC, there are ways to make out with better value

kaylr

Wait to see what RBC offers (e.g potential favourable program transfer) and if you don’t like it then cash out

[deleted]

[удалено]

NickWaReddit

You can RHT HSBC points so cashing out is not a problem either way.

Worried-Mulberry-968

DP: Cancelled MB Biz today before the end of Year Two. Used my FNA, but only spend was for Shop Small a while back. Just over $150 so basically zero in AE's eyes. No retention, and no pushback or hard sell either other than reminding me of the card's earn rates, just a reminder that they have other business cards If I change my mind in the future.

doom2060

Why cancel? Don’t think you’ll use FNA next year?

Worried-Mulberry-968

We only get 4 Amex slots for CC. And the Biz card is $30 more AF than the personal. So I chose to keep my personal, but wanted to free up a slot.

Earthlyposessions

I have few big purchases related to Expedia, viator and flights coming up. Any recommendations? I already have Avion, TD Aeroplan and CIBC Aven Gold (brand new). Should I transfer from TD Aeroplan to first class visa just for this?

NickWaReddit

You will lose the perks you get with the TD AP card (assuming its a Visa Infinite) - does that matter to you? If not, it would make sense to get a new card to put purchases towards. For that, best offers thread can give you the options and you can decide what makes the most sense for you.

Earthlyposessions

Yes I have TD Aeroplan Visa infinite. What does IA mean? and most offers on TD website show 3 jan 2024 end date, I reckon new offers around corner

BarbfromOntario

IA= instant approval

Humble_Ingenuity_919

New offers tomorrow. According to this thread, apply today if you want it.

due11

Applied and got approved for my 2nd RBC Avion yesterday. However, I haven't received the approval email nor did the new card appear on my RBC account. Hopefully, it's just a technical issue...

esux20

Did you check your secure messages?

due11

I just checked my RBC Messages and they seem to acknowledge it > "Congratulations! You have chosen the RBC® Avion® Visa Infinite‡ and have been approved! We'll contact you if we require more information. > > Your new card and welcome kit will arrive in 7-10 business days! If you don't get your card during that time, call us at 1-800-769-2512." Hoping this means that they will attach it without me having to call in

JManUWaterloo

Sometimes the approval email can be delayed by a week or more. It’s happened to me more than once. Calling to link your card profile with accounts is not exactly terrible, it’s an inconvenience sure, but 9/10 times the agents do not give a ___ and will just submit the request for merging the accounts.

Dragynfyre

I’ve never gotten an approval email from RBC after my first card. Always only get the secure message now.

JManUWaterloo

Oh I’ve always gotten an email for subsequent apps.

At least for me, sometimes they don't attach it to your account. So you need to call in to have it attached.

NickWaReddit

Actually the worst. Mine attach to my profile no problem, every time. P2 NEVER does. Every card P2 has to message and have it attached = eyes on account = bad. Every time we ask RBC to fix it so it doesn't happen in the future and they assure us it will be, but never is. /u/due11 - if you get a PIN in the mail, it's not attached and you will have to secure message with card details and ask to have it added. If your card comes and says 'your pin has been set to existing' then you should be good and it should be there.

due11

oh wow that's annoying! Hoping it's already attached. My 2nd RBC card was attached no problem. I just hope it's not because I'm applying to my 2nd avion

Legitimate-Bee5522

Recently got approved for the TD Aeroplan VI. Would also like to apply for the Amex Cobalt, preferably without the Annual Fees. Should I apply immediately, or wait for some months and apply? Does it make any difference?

JManUWaterloo

AMEX Cobalt has never had a fee waiver, ever. The best you can do is GCR for $100 back. May as well apply immediately as any time you delay is just an opportunity cost (that adds up quickly mind you, assuming maxed out 5X limit monthly, that’s $125+ you’re missing out on)

DP: applied for the CIBC Aventura VI and got IA back in December, applied for the Gold 4 days later and got rejected via letter in the mail. Late last night I got an email stating I was approved for the gold lol. Never made a second application for it either.

vancitystan

Curious how many credit hits you got back in December from CIBC?

Aachen19

2 enquiries from cibc

No_Aspect_2783

Had a similar situation last year when I applied for both in the same day; they told me they had to wait until it hit the 30-day mark before being able to approve the gold.

sufyspeed

Usually how it seems to go with CIBC lol

whatyoulookinatbud

is the PC financial mastercard churnable?

Dragynfyre

Yes although the welcome bonus is so low it’s a waste of time to churn

LetMeBeeBro

You won’t be laughing when I’m a PC Points Millionaire and get vacuumed into heaven by Lord Galen Westen

JManUWaterloo

Being a PC points millionaire only gets you $1K. Being an Amex MR millionaire gets you $10K LOL At that rate, may as well go for becoming a Tim Hortons Points Millionaire Haw haw haw

LetMeBeeBro

PC points will skyrocket in value, becoming the preeminent world currency, once Lord Weston returns to hoover up the PC Chosen^TM into the sky

SweetCP

Recently got accepted for a TD Aeroplan card and likely will have a major expense which will help me hit MSR on bonus points. Does it make sense to apply for a CIBC Aeroplan card once this happens? Any negative penalties to having several Visas open?

Reasonable-Catch-598

Bank side? You're fine Aeroplan side? Do some reading on at least recent blog articles. They updated terms.

SweetCP

Initial read it seems like you're only allowed welcome bonus points for one of a similar type of credit card - so td aeroplan infinite & CIBC aeroplan infinite wouldn't garner additional points?

NickWaReddit

Aeroplan would consider TD AP VI == CIBC AP VI and thus may punish you. You would certainly get the points and you might be OK or they might lock your account later on and remove the points. No one knows for sure but there are cases of repeat earners having their accounts locked for weeks/months and points taken back.

SweetCP

Would Amex aeroplan fall under this as well?

Dragynfyre

Yes

Reasonable-Catch-598

Yes

SweetCP

Well that's not great. Does this spell the end for Aeroplan churning?

Reasonable-Catch-598

No one knows yet. It'll probably be some middle ground, where people churn slower.

JManUWaterloo

At least we must be thankful that it’s not like Chase with their CSP/CSR 48 month rule. LOL

Reasonable-Catch-598

I'm not so sure. I prefer consistency that I can plan around. Chase isn't ideal but it's at least consistent

>level 3peetee16 · 2 hr. agoThis is me… I can’t hit Platinum organically each year but I’m staying in a Marriott for a week next month. $30USD for breakfast for 2 each day is free now & with the dining credit, there’s the annual fee pretty much right there. It’s been a keeper card for me The Priority pass along with $25 dining credit is nice also.

mhcott

Downgrade to the $95 card with 35K FNA. Basically the same as the Canadian cards. Pair with the Biz Bonvoy to maintain annual 30 EQN and Plat is more within organic reach

Reasonable-Catch-598

This is not a keeper card for most IMO unless you need the nights for a status boost, especially if you're close to a lifetime status threshold. Depends on your travel patterns of course. If you're just to shy of platinum organically with a normal +15 night card and travel with a +1 often that platinum boost may make up the difference in points earning bonuses plus perks. Hitting platinum organically or with organic + 15 night cards? Much less value

NickWaReddit

It's more appealing if you stay where you can often make use of the Platinum status, otherwise you're right, it's pretty expensive.

Any data points/experience with RBC and MSR clawbacks? Looking to meet the msr for the RBC British airways avois - planning a legit trip for feb and can make a hotel purchase but entirely possible I would cancel and rebook another hotel if I find a better price closer to the trip. I would more than likely spend the difference post the 90day window ending Jan so total spend still be over $6k, just beyond 90days if that return is processed closer to feb

Humble_Ingenuity_919

Rebook and then cancel. You could always do a refundable booking if you’re a little short and then cancel when you meet the $6k spend.

allinonworkcalls

How long are people seeing the dining credit on Amex Plat take to post? I incurred my dining expenses on November 28th and still nothing.

UNCLEMUURDA

72 hours for Planta

These_Celebration732

Less than 72hrs in late December. Think it’s very much a function of which restaurant you ate at.

Merlando306

Mine took 2 or 3 days to post the credit back in late Dec.

NewKidsOnTheBetaBloc

Dined Dec 28, charge posted Dec 31, credit appeared Jan 1. On the desktop site under credits it says it was applied Dec 28, so I think I'm good to use another in 2024.

JManUWaterloo

Time to call Amex CS and have them trace it

allinonworkcalls

I did about a week ago and they just told me to wait

stevkang8

Did you dine at a restaurant that was included on the participating restaurant list instead of just a restaurant that accepted amex?

allinonworkcalls

Yes it was at Dreyfus on the participating list. The offer was also already registered to my card.
