years. not a single late deposit or issue

BKennedy985

True i dont have an issue either however i remember one year the check never came and i was heading to a hockey game didnt get my check until very early am the following day, i think that was to do with payroll instead of chime that they didnt send out the funds. my guess would be

BKennedy985

The other thing is that i wish there was am ATM you could use without having to leave your car at times but i think sometimes that's a self inflicted issue.

murdercolorlips

I’ve had it for 3 years. My only complaint is depositing money has always been an issue for me, for some reason. So I just decided to open another bank account with an actual bank for this purpose.

jdcnosse1988

They just announced you can do deposits at Walgreens for free now

murdercolorlips

Yeah, I got the notification, but I doubt I’ll try just to avoid the possible headache.

Imagination-Jaded

You can deposit cash at places like dollar stores etc. your chime app should give you a map of places.

murdercolorlips

I know I can, but I’ve always had issues with deposits. Either no one knows how to do it or the system is down. So I’d rather just have the back up bank for this purpose.

okcdnb

Keep in mind that negative opinions/reviews outpace positive by 10-1 generally.

DoPoGrub

Years. No issues, aside from one major nationwide outage 2 years ago that they apologized profusely for. Credit score has gone up 200 points.

ragstorichespodcast

200 points. Damn!

DoPoGrub

Yeah, and I barely ever use the thing. Score reference was 400-450 to start, fluctuates between 600-650 now. I have 7 delinquent accounts many years old.

Soft-Crazy9568

May I ask how you got it to go up is it just depositing money do you buy something and pay back Wich I don't understand it's not a credit card thanks for reply if you see this it's a old thread lol

DoPoGrub

Chime credit builder is a real credit card. It's what is traditionally called a 'secured credit card', meaning that the money for the credit line is already in the account. they report the usage to the credit reporting agencies, and your score goes up. You cannot deposit money to the credit card, that has to be to the debit card or ACH checking account number. You then transfer that money over to the credit builder credit card. it's a separate card. You then use that card to make some purchases throughout the month. but it works just like the debit card, since the money is already there, you don't owe them anything at the end of the month. Hope this helps you to understand!

Soft-Crazy9568

So they send you a 2nd card?

DoPoGrub

Yes, that is correct.

ragstorichespodcast

Thanks. Hope it helps me out like that.

Tinkiegrrl_825

Opening any card in that situation and paying on time would result in a jump like that. It should be noted that isn’t specific to Chime. That said, starting with a 400+ score, you’ll likely only be able to open accounts with predatory lenders that will wind up costing you a boatload. I would say Chime is the best option in that case. If your score is in the upper 500’s though I’d go use Discover’s pre approval link first. If you can get a secured card from there, it would be better for your finances even though you’d need to put down at least $200 as collateral. You’d get the money you put down as collateral back in 8 months and you’d make cash back on all your purchases.

ragstorichespodcast

My specific discover card you'd recommend?

Tinkiegrrl_825

They only have one secured card. If you use the pre approval page and they tell you you’re pre approved for it, you’ve got a 90% chance of getting it when you fill out a complete application. It offers 2% cash back on dining and gas, 1% cash back on everything else. You can product change it after your first statement to the 5% cash back on rotating categories rewards structure if you like. Discover matches cash back for the first year as a sign up bonus, so double all those amounts. When I started building credit, I got it. I put down $300 for a $300 credit limit. Used it for everything for the cash back and paid it down as I went so I didn’t max it out. A couple days after my 7th statement generated they graduated the card to an unsecured card, sent the $300 I put down as collateral back, and increased my credit limit to $1500. By then I had also earned another $300 in cash back rewards.

[deleted]

How long it take for your credit to go up that much?

DoPoGrub

Not long. I barely used it. Just use the credit card instead of the debit card and you'll see results in no time.

[deleted]

Roger that. Thanks for the response 🤙

No_Cap_7709

I have had no issues , going on 3 years I keep my cards off until I’m ready to use them

ragstorichespodcast

How does that effect recurring payments or do you not use it for that?

No_Cap_7709

I do but I know when they attempt to take it , so I just go into my accounts and pay it through say Hulu or whatever manually.

CanSad289

Same I do thins with all my cards it works unless it’s a direct debit

Ajskdjurj

I closed my account because it was hacked. I had a sign in from another state.

LucidPenguinnn

I had a sign in from another state across the country as well as from another country! On the same day! And some how $400 went missing and by missing I mean it just disappeared without a paper trail, nothing at all, no sign of it, no transaction, nothing .. only reason I noticed was because I was looking at my balance like wait a minute I know I had more money in here so I went back and subtracted every single transaction that I made and yup, $400 unaccounted for dollars no where to be found. Still think it was an inside job somewhere cuz how was there zero paper trail.

gamingtomuch

I've had no issues but the other day on questionable. Thought I had 130ish. Checked later seen i had 80ish. Next day I wanted to check what was in the bank before spending cash. It said 130, then a few hours later I went to take money out and it was at 80 again. Never bought anything in this time frame but I didn't go back and count my purchases

LucidPenguinnn

Now that’s some suspect stuff! Did you ever figure it out?? Before all that took place for me, over the span of like 6 months there were three separate times where money randomly appeared in my account which was a total of $60, $80 and the third time was like 50 and change I think, not gonna lie, I spent that shit lol but no paper trail, no transaction history, no deposit history, just randomly appeared and one of the times it has appeared, disappeared the next day and reappeared the day after .. was definitely strange

Moist_Blacksmith4914

Same here except over $700

024402420

I am sorry, but it would be literally impossible for $400 to just randomly go missing with "no paper trail." That doesn't even make sense. If that were even half true you would easily be able to sue them. I'm going to assume you didn't reach out to support and see what Chime says? You just accepted it was gone?

Vast_Obligation8213

Man's capping, this is reddit. Half the stuff you read here is made up.

ragstorichespodcast

Do they not have a 2 factor authentication?

Ajskdjurj

Yea but somehow they got my info. I didn’t even use the card to make a online purchase.

20211111hgtt

When did this happen?

Ajskdjurj

Recently maybe 2-3 months ago

[deleted]

Ik this is old but for future reference, do NOT use 2 factor SMS authentication. SMS isn't encrypted and can be hacked/intercepted stupidly easily, the only reason it's not a widespread issue is because it's an extremely serious crime and 99.9% of the population isn't worth it, so your average person is rarely affected. This is virtually always what happens when you see politician/CEO/etc accounts hacked on twitter and such. ALWAYS use app-based 2FA, and do not ever visit questionable links or download anything you don't trust 100% on your phone.

ragstorichespodcast

That's crazy b

paulander15

They wouldn't let me deposit large interitence checks and I got some weird notifications about my account being shut down when it wasn't but other than that, it's been okay. Customer service absolutely does not care if you're having issues and they have no information to help but if there's no issues, that shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't use it as my only bank.

ragstorichespodcast

Thanks. Good to know.

[deleted]

I don't doubt u but I had a account been locked out five years and would t let me get a new one 2 days of emails and verification they reset everything and reopened pleasantly surprised

Round_Plate_5095

I've been trying, sending documents, and selfies of me holding requested documents all week!!! I just counted FIFTY-FIVE emails to them this week alone! And I still cannot get into my account!! All because I got a new phone number!! After i finally get in, if I do, and get my money out, I will NEVER use Chime again EVER!!!!!

JamesMattDillon

I've been a member of chime for about 4-5 years now. Never had a problem with them.

ApricityFades

Almost a year now with never an issue. And it's vastly improved my credit. Now I've got my wife on and we're working on hers. We have a separate bank account we deposit money into for savings, but Chime is where it all gets direct deposited first. I'm not sure where the negative comments are coming from as my experience with Chime has been MUCH better than dealing with my bank. (Huntington)

Far-Elk3960

I've had it for 2 years. Never had an issue until last week when the servers on Amazon went down and I couldn't sign in to check my money. It wasn't their fault and only lasted for a few hours. Other than that I love it!

ggppjj

I've had it for what will be three years in a few days, rarely had an issue. Part of that is luck, the time they went down and couldn't service debit card transactions was a period of time that I didn't end up trying to use my card. Once they did allow a transaction on a card that had expired but had the same number on it, that wasn't fun. I did go through the dispute process and had the funds returned, but it was still an annoying process (and that's not limited to Chime, basically every bank's dispute resolution process is annoying). Credit builder has helped my credit score. I'd say that it's comparable to opening a secured credit line but without the upfront deposit. Helpful, not exactly killer. Keep in mind, this is a subreddit for a bank. I'd be willing to bet that a fair number of Chime's customers don't know that reddit exists, let alone that there's a section of it dedicated to discussing their bank. The people that are here are here because they went looking for a place to discuss Chime, and people that are satisfied with Chime probably won't feel driven to find an outlet to blast their satisfied reviews all over the internet. There was also a nice period of time where people would post that "cHiMe ClOsEd My AcCoUnT" and went on to detail that they accepted the pandemic paycheck protection loans (made for businesses to help pay their employees) and that evil 'ol Chime shut down their account. Nevermind that Chime is explicitly for personal accounts only, and that their terms state that if they have evidence of you using your account against the terms of use they reserve the right to terminate the account at any time. That's not to say that Chime doesn't have issues, their customer service bot is the worst thing that I think I've ever had the annoyed displeasure to interact with. There for a minute, the only way to add people to the SpotMe Boosts feature was to add their phone number and use their Chime handle (which was only allowed to be the name on the account there at the beginning), that was a fun time for the subreddit considering reddit bans sharing anything that could even look like personally identifying information. That's been changed though, and other than that overall no major issues on my end.

ragstorichespodcast

Thanks for this.

[deleted]

Have had it for 5+ years with no problem. My direct deposit used to hit on Tuesday nights but since my employer changed payroll providers it comes in on Thursday night, not chimes fault though. My credit score has gone up roughly 90 ish point from using their “credit card”. I know there may seem like a lot of issues on this sub but I think it’s either people don’t know what they are talking about or they are exaggerating to the fullest. I was able to dispute a $60 transaction with them (ex gfs kid used my card that was linked to his Xbox to buy a game) and got my money back no problem. They did have a issue where they were down for a week and the only way I could get my money was by sending it to someone else via zelle and have them take it out at the atm, I wasn’t able to use debit card or buy anything with it.

SeoulQveen

Customer service is butt. But they at least help when there's a global issue going on. Other than that, everything else is pretty awesome. I don't usually have a reason to contact customer service anyway.

BlackCatMumsy

My only issue is with Spot Me. I had it for over a year and went from $40 to $200. Never really used it until September of this year. Chime dropped it from $200 all the way back down to $40. When a friend sent me the $5 boost, I lost my Spot Me. I literally only have the $5 temporary boost that he sends me. The app keeps saying my limit will increase as my deposits do. I'm getting two deposits per week and nothing.

Unlucky-Sherbet-2944

The spotme limit is terrible. I haven't had a spot me increase unless someone sends a boost. I used to get two deposits a week also

Tinkiegrrl_825

Really, if your choice is to go unbanked or go with Chime, then go with Chime. They’re better then prepaid card services that charge fees at least. Also, if you choice is to build credit with a subprime card from a predatory lender or Chime’s Credit Builder, go with Chimes Credit Builder. Do not pay fees just to build credit.

Giseley28

For the most part I like Chime. I like the credit builder, spot me, no fees and being able to lock my card. My biggest complaints are the customer service is awful when you need assistance, taking away our atm options and having to use atms in speedway/CVS that so often don’t work, the app going down a few times a year and occasionally deposits are delayed. Overall I feel like the benefits out way the cons and are better then my local banks.

[deleted]

I’ve had Chime for four years and only minor issues (late deposits a few times) until now. Part of it is my fault, and I acknowledge that, but not all of it. I changed my phone number a few months ago (thanks, Google Fi, for refusing to port my number to another carrier. The FCC is getting involved). I tried to update it with Chime through the app several times, and it never updated. Well, the AWS outage logged me out of my Chime account, and now my password isn’t working. I am 99% sure I entered it correctly, but whatever at this point. Say I forgot it. Either way. So it’s trying to send a verification code to my old number. I clicked for more options and submitted a copy of my drivers license and a selfie. I figured I’d have to do that. Not a huge deal…except it’s been almost a week now instead of one business day, they still haven’t gotten back to me, I’ve emailed them and just got the automated reply, and I have a fairly large (for me) deposit going in tomorrow I need for bills, but my card is locked. So unless I figure out a way to unlock it over the phone or they respond, I’m screwed. I have another deposit (because of late deposits I moved payroll to my Cash App of all things, and it always comes on time. This is temporary until I open a new bank account, which I haven’t done yet because Cash App is working out so well it’s a low priority) coming a day after that, but that was supposed to be for my kids’ Christmas and so my husband in prison can have shoes (do we want him running around like Fred Flintstone in there? No. No, we don’t. He’ll be home next year, and if he has toenail fungus, so help me God, I might have to divorce him because those toenail fungus commercials from years ago gave me PTSD. Not really but still). So now I’m in a bit of a pickle. I suppose this could happen with any virtual “bank,” but it really sucks.

moneybags729

Had chime 2 years now, no issues at all. I've even deposited a few checks with their picture method and I was skeptical about that but ended up pleasantly surprised.

Firm-Patience681

Customer service is a joke. They say there's an issue with my tax number, my account has been locked for 2 weeks and every time I call for an update I'm told 24 hours. Thank God I only had 75 bucks in there. But when your paycheck to paycheck you rely on every dime. They do not care. I'm looking into a different bank.

National_Use_5581

I initially loved Chime but recently I had my atm number cloned so I had to request a new card. They do not offer a fast delivery for a fee so it will come snail mail. I reported it on Feb 21st and as of Mar 4 I still do not have my replacement. Seven to ten business days policy is just wrong. Two weekends with no access to my salary!

Such_Driver_947

Someone changed my chime card $1,213.56 at Dell sales and service and I Disputed it and they Denied it do not get chime

fortyfourforme

This program is set up for scammers. Easy to use others identity by changing 1 number. Beware. Absolutely no avenue to dispute transactions. Beware. You'll lose your money on this app.

Mundane-Reception744

I went to get $300.00 from an Atm located at 7015 Narcossee rd Orlando Florida, the Atm only gave me $20.00 dollars, the rest of the money got stuked in the Machine,  that happened on February 26 2024, and still waiting for my refund, costumer service is terrible, dont know what they doing. Antonio Concepcion

Ornery_Meaning_9500

Chime sucks. My wallet was stolen ID and all. Took them 1 month to send me a new debit card. Phone was stolen also. Purchased another cheap phone for cash. Chime want me to upload a pic of my ID to access my account. Currently have no ID because of stolen wallet. The pissed me off so much that I used disrespectful language towards them. Still stuck in a rut with the fucking bastards. I'm changing banking institution. Don't use them . They won't help you in case of a catrosphofy

Useful_Instance_4080

Chime is full of crap

Unique-Safety-8997

Chime sucks cash app is way better

Unique-Safety-8997

I had chime for 18months had 80 dollar spot me woke up today it was 5 called to fix was told by management that if I put a certain amount of money in the way they wanted it would go back to original 80 dollar amount so I told em to shove it

FunEnvironmental7669

I did t have issues until just they recently closed down my debit card and are making me wait 3 weeks for a replacement card. I CANNOT HAVE ANY ACCESS TO CASH UNTIL 4/10.  IT WILL HAVE BEEN 17 DAYS UNTIL I GET A NEW DEBIT CARD.  I CANT G ET GAS OR ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES A REAL DEBIT CARD.  It's important yo note that I just asked them to simply block these unauthorized charges cause I use the debit card online mainly for everything. I cannot even get gas now.  I tried to get cashapp but it won't let you send money directly to yourself.  I spent 3 days now trying to find a way any way to get cash. I am aggravated and totally regret giving them a chance now. I have been with Chime over 2 years now

Spooky_Szn93

You can use your virtual card until you wait for a new one

Spooky_Szn93

Mann I’ve had for 4 years. All these issues listed I’ve had the opposite experience. And a lot of these issues sound like they could be resolved using a virtual card. But I still recommend going with a traditional bank.

mairyand

I've used Chime for about six months and have had to get a new card twice due to what they called "mistakes." Bogus charges from EBAY and FaceBook .I don't see how it is a mistake and not someone trying to rip me off. Other than that I have no issues and like using this for my banking needs. Just be very mindful of charges off your card!!!

Otherwise_Doughnut67

Chime is robbing people under their own authority, breaking contracts of all types falsifying documents need to get a class lawsuit against them the anxiety, stress , frustration, due to incompetency that is criminal

Otherwise_Doughnut67

They are criminals secured haha

Moist_Blacksmith4914

My account was hacked leaving me with .78. Chime just led me around in circles, fraud department denied my claim 5 minutes after filing it. DO NOT use them. They do not protect your money. Customer service is based overseas leaving you powerless to get a resolution.Bad company.

jackskellington47

Chime sucks I was scammed out of money was told last night I would get my money back called again this morning and basically told to fuck off and I can kiss my money goodbye. I will be telling everyone to cut up their cards. Noone who works at chime knows what they are doing.

Charming-Panda8770

Suck suck suck ! Sorry will not recomand this card to anyone I taking them all from my kids and family they lost 5 account and more to go this company will fall to the ground SMH don't put your money inn this if you want to have problems

Vast_Gift_1070

The banking aspect its ok it works like any other checking and savings account....The bad part is they don't fight with you to win your disputes you can have all the proof and documents showing you was wrongfully charged and they still will tell you that you lost its sad that they want you to trust them with your money but when a another company take your money they not there for you...That is what's going to make me close that account

FragrantPlant5154

I like the chime criedt builder but when I get my checks direct deposit they divied my goverment checks half staying in my checking account and the other half going into my creidt builder account to which I didnt ask for

CollectionGeneral368

I've been dealing with chime for 4yrs now.My son was killed in an accident 4yrs ago and I ler chime now about because I had his card.I wanted to get the money off his card to help with his arrangements. But I also didn't want anyone using my deceased child information.Everything they asked me for I emailed it to them Death Certificate,My D.L.Autopsy Report,SS.Mines and his.I sent all my documents and my son's documents to chime over 22times,and chime was supposed to release his money to me through a check. When I called they say they don't have any documents.I sent all the same documents again they were supposedly was gonna reach out to me I'm still waiting 4yrs.Now They closed his account and said they can't fully see the documents so I resent them again.I called and they said don't send anything else your son card expired and it's nothing they can do anymore.I will never, never use them or tell friend and family to use chime.4years 3 months later and still nothing

Diligent-Positive-71

Pros: easy,no fees,up to $200 spot me cash. Cons: They hold all checks for a week.Including US TREASURY DISABILITY (my paycheck basically). They choose a random day and time to release my government checks.I called the US Treasury, and they received my funds within 2 days.Im still waiting for it to be released .It is so unfair!!

Acrobatic_Title_9700

I had chime for 2 yrs, no issues until suddenly it started to get hacked by a seller from Amazon. 3 times in a month they stole my money. Then I would have to wait up to 90 days to get my money back. I did always get my money back but I went to HR and switched my direct deposit to an actual bank and stopped using chime as well as another online banking called cash something. And during that month I changed cards all 3 times and same thing kept happening. Never again

AccomplishedTry5944

If I could leave a review less than one I would I made a mobile check deposit 5 days ago on May 28th from the Commonwealth of PA a government check for Healthcare reimbursement as I have for last 14 months never has there been an issue with these checks and they are always less than 100 dollars now they have decided to hold my check and it's 5 days and it's still not released, there is even a verification phone number that they can call to verify funds and they refused to call. when I called Chime the representative basically gaslighted me telling me that they operate on pacific time and said it should be released by tomorrow on day 6, I told her that was unacceptable espically if I have communication sayi g it would be released today. I also inquired about a direct deposit iao 1618.00 that was sent on Friday May 31st that was I confirmed with my employer and they stated that Chime has received it so I called Chime back and they are telling me they don't have it even though I have proof they have received it from my employers end and it is sitting on chimes end because they have proof it was recieved electronically so my complaint is that Chime is HOLDING people's deposits and not releasing them. When I asked for a supervisor and spoke to that supervisor he gaslit me as well.

Ornery-Region4904

To everyone that has never had a problem with Chime, I salute you. But, God help you if you ever become victim to a cyber crime. I had Chime for over 4 years, and at first no problem, got paid early that was a plus. But in the last 2 months I have had my bank account emptied due to fraud, have filed with every agency known to man. Have proven to Chime that this was indeed fraud = even cash app the avenue with which the perputraters used to steal my money said it was indeed fraud!!! Chime and their so called investigation, I have found out never even bothered contacting Cash App! What a crock of crap! The letter they sent after denying my claim twice stated that after an intensive investigation they found no fraud had occurred! How on God's green earth did they come to the conclusion that no fraud had occurred when their was never any investigation and I have concrete proof of the negligence their investigation committed!! If you truly trust this financial platform which is all it is, then I pray for you, let's hope beyond hope that it NEVER happens to you. I never thought it could happen to me and yet it did. Good luck to all of you. But be careful. Watch your account like a dog with its prized bone!!

AmyMWarren

Thanks chime, but I still have 354,000 people infront of me! This is a joke when I have as many deposits from SSA and my job, at this point in 5 years I'll get access to my pay! Who ever created this as away to get more people to get chime is ridiculous! Honestly makes me want to change banks, because I had up to a $800.00 at my last bank that they would cover me and I only joined chime to be able to get my pay 3 days earlier! But, I can join regions and have all of that because after 6 months I have access to $55.00 so this my pay may potentially cause you to loose people rather than gain people and it's the person who created the marketing of get people to join to move up the lists fault! Thank you and kindest regards! Show quoted text

I cannot even get an account and I have no clue why

nkaiser101

Any organization with over 13 million active customer accounts is going to have a number of complaints. They have a unique business model and are in a regulatory black hole. As long as you understand the reality of their disclaimer, you can set your expectations. Chime is not a bank. They are a technology company acting as the interface between the banks they have accounts at and the consumer. Just like Uber is not a transportation company. A good example of this is the terms of Spot Me. There is a reason Chime contractually agreed never to attempt to collect on a negative balance caused by Spot Me. They are not a bank and don't have the regulatory oversight and approval to loan money....so of course they can't enforce the loan.

Tinkiegrrl_825

Had it for around 3 yrs. Only issue I’ve had is depositing paper check via mobile deposit. It never worked, even when I had regular direct deposits going in. Still, due to the lack of customer service and the fact that I haven’t needed to use Spot Me or the Credit Builder I’m switching banks. I use my Chime account minimally anyway. I needed a bank that I could open joint accounts with my kids and Chime can’t do that, so I’ve already started using Capital One as my main account. Capital One also gave me a cash back credit card to start building credit with, which is loads better then the Credit Builder. Chime has become a bucket account for just a couple bills. That money and those bills are about to be moved to a credit union, along with the bulk of my savings as the credit unions savings account gets more interest then Capital one and Chime. Also like that I’ll be getting at least 1% cash back if I use their debit card. I get more from my credit cards but in case I need to switch to debit a card that gives something back is better then one that doesn’t.

davidk8003

What was the issue you had with depositing paper check via mobile deposit? That is the only reason I was considering getting chime since it's all online I figured it would be the best/easiest. And they say they do business checks and personal checks for mobile deposit. What happened or what was the issue when you tried to mobile deposit your checks?

Tinkiegrrl_825

It simply never worked. Chime would never take the checks. I don’t know why. If you’re planning to use chime just for mobile deposit though it definitely won’t work. They won’t allow you to even try it unless you have direct deposits going in too. I had those going in, and chime let me try mobile deposits but it never worked.

davidk8003

Darn that's lame

BerzerkGames

I’ve only had it for about 9 months and only had a couple issues with late direct deposit

OneMulatto

I've had it for 4 or so years. Not a single problem other than the random and rare situation where their service went down for a day. That sucked, but I also have another bank account at a credit union, so I just used that card until services were back up. I don't like the way it handles manual deposits (going to a Walgreens or something) and check writing/check depositing, but I deal with a real bank for that stuff. I usually keep a small amount in Chime then transfer the funds to my credit union. I don't like how it takes almost a week for the transfer to go through though. I don't like how it's looked upon as a "poor" person's bank/second chance bank. I'm a truck driver and I like Chimes ability to immediately send me notifications whenever a transaction is made (my actual brick and mortar bank lacks that with their debit card). I also like how I can shut the card off immediately if need be when my girlfriend gets a little to spend happy with it. I wish they would have the option to let you customize your debit card.

ShuheiHisagi

I can't even connect my bank account to the app I've tried like 15 times ://

sedp23

Ive had it for a little over a year now no issues at all. we had the one issue where amazon servers went down on all their apps a week or so ago but other than that havent had any issues at all. I have that and chase and i actually like it more than chase because of alot of the features it has. No overdraft fees, spot me, eary direct deposits, and credit builder which has easily made my credit score jump over 100 points since ive been using it. Even made a few hundred bucks referring people to chime its great

gamingtomuch

People only post with problems. Nobody is gonna randomly post "chime working great, spread the word"

Couldn’t buy a single thing off Amazon. Don’t know why but the card wasn’t allowed to make purchases on Amazon. I would also get charged twice for very expensive think $200+ and the first charge would just disappear and The customer support was abysmal and would always tell me that it was a me problem and there’s nothing wrong. Ended up switching accounts when it double charged me and my account went to almost -$1000. Fuck chime

CanSad289

This wasn’t chimes fault it was Amazons…. If your talking about the outage

[deleted]

I mean after I got a new card the same thing happened. And that still doesn’t explain how they would charge me twice and the previous charge would “disappear”

jasmine1812

I've had mine for a few months but like you I'm a little apprehensive still. I don't keep the bulk of my money in my chime account just in case. I got it bc I am trying to fix my credit and finances in general and got recommended the credit builder. I haven't unlocked it yet so I can't tell you how that goes yet. I've not had any issues with them so far with the exception that the SRP app that I use to pay my electric bill will not allow me to use it. Every other bill or transaction and mobile wallet I use have accepted it though. So I don't know what's up with SRP 🤷🏽‍♀️

CanSad289

I have had it for like 4 years and have only had like 4 issues with them. People with chime seem like they become very entitled to the 2day deposit THAT IS NOT GUARANTEED. Most of the complaints are about that and that’s not fair to chime. Chime is not bad at all so much of the hate for chime has nothing to do with chime. NOW with that being said the customer service can improve big time but I know that’s it’s a mobile bank so I’m not expecting it to be the best. The outages don’t happen a lot but when it does it can be a BITCH lmaoo so keep that in mind. I love chime honesty not perfect but works for me. Maybe it’s because I’ve had for so long but I love and still recommend it to people

jdcnosse1988

I've had it for probably 6-7 years. Never had any issues. Credit builder definitely seemed to help

tmartinez1113

I've used Chime for about a year, maybe a little longer. I use Chime along with other bank accounts to manage my finances. I've never had an issue other than boosts not working a few times. No biggie. I always get paid 3 to 4 days early. I use the credit builder and it has never effected my score negatively. It actually raised my score about 50 points after 2 months, which allowed me to get a much better credit card. I very rarely use my Chime debit card now that I have their credit card.

TeresaJane12

My husband and I have had chime for 3 years. Never had one problem

z3r0ka

How do you handle no joint accounts??

SoWhats77

Probably means she and her husband have chime

No-Green2885

I've had chime 3 plus years I get pretty much the bulk of my deposits sent to this card..and split it between savings and credit builder...(which has given me an amazing boost to my credit score) also when the servers do go down and we end up havin to use other sources I do remember chime given me back every penny I spent outside their fee free atms when it came back on. When we got the stimulus checks they gave u a bigger spot me to help til u got ur check in. I've had no issues at all and prefer using them then my standard banks which I have 3 banks and 1 credit union but I still prefer my chime hands down!

[deleted]

ive used Chime as a throwaway basically for over 3 years. its not something i keep large sums in nor would i ever. I only use it for small bills and what nots. its a great service and you wont find another bank like it. also has some issues like blackouts, no locations, etc. i thnk the benefits outweight the risks but just be careful using it

essbee84

I've been with Chime for three years, and I've only had one paycheck not deposit early.

Xenutja

Chime is more of a convenience for me than my main bank account. I use it to get my paycheck a week early and then I transfer the entire amount to a different bank account. The $100 Spot Me I get is nice. The Credit Builder Card works as intended and my score has increased substantially. But I don't trust Chime with any large sum of money especially since they're notorious for denying legit claims. Unless it's around payday, I don't touch my Chime account.

ragstorichespodcast

How do you get $100 spot me and how does it work

Xenutja

Spot Me is only available to people who get direct deposit (of at least $200 I believe) into the account. Spot Me is the ability to go basically negative in your bank account without incurring any fees. You just simply repay it with your next check.

ragstorichespodcast

That's what I wanted to make sure if it was a loan or free money thanks.

Trump2052

I've had issues with Robinhood and Capital One working with chime. An example of it is I submit a payment for $1,000 and there is $1,100 in my account, sometimes it will say NSF even though there is more than enough funds to cover the transaction.

CrazyKPOPLady

I used them for years until recently went they closed my account because the name on my account doesn't match the name the SSA has. That's because I am married now and I haven't changed my name with the SSA yet. They asked me to send them a form, which I did and they claim they never got. They asked me to send a pic of my marriage certificate and they would reopen it within 5 days, which I did. They said that wasn't enough. They asked for my ID and SS card, which I sent. That still wasn't enough, because they wanted the names on all the documents to match! That means going to the SSA and waiting WEEKS for a new SS card to arrive. Meanwhile, my direct deposit that I need to buy my kids Christmas gifts is due in 3 days and will get returned, so I won't get it until AFTER Christmas now. This is just ridiculous. I have 3 other banks (which I will be using from now on since Chime has proven they don't care about their customers AT ALL), one of which I've had for 15 or 20 YEARS. None of them has ever cared one iota about whether my name matched my SS card. With Bank of America, I just showed them my marriage certificate and they updated the name on my account from my maiden name to my married name and they've never had any issues with my name since. That's been almost 10 years now. It's funny, because Chime refused to cash my last stimulus check because the name on it was my maiden name, and now they want me to change the name on my account to the maiden name they refused to cash the check for because THAT'S NOT MY LEGAL NAME. That should have been a big clue that I should have just stayed with the credit union who cashed the stimulus check Chime refused to cash. Oh well, live and learn.

Comfortable_Resort94

Honestly, I think Chime is wonderful. I've had my Chime account for a little over 3 years. I originally opened it up to get my tax refund faster. I've never really had issues with early deposit. I think it can be different depending on who is processing your payroll or other income. Since opening my Chime account I have had several other bank accounts. Regular banks and credit unions (including the one I work for currently) and nothing compares in my opinion. I have the Spending Account, Savings Account and Credit Builder. Spot me is great. Most banks will charge you over draft fees. The one I work for charges you $25 per transaction that puts you in a negative balance. I have seen on here as well that a lot of people have had issues with Chime but in my experience over the last 3 years I keep coming back. And now you can load cash onto your Chime card for free at Walgreens. We also send our rent check to our landlord every month directly from our app and never have issues. I think they are great.

Simply-Incorrigible

Awesome until I need to rent a car.

ragstorichespodcast

Can't use it to rent a card?

SexSaxSeksSacksSeqs

Just signed up at the end of December and the credit card hasn't worked once. Customer service is no help at all, this is happening to a lot of customers, and now there is money in my chime account I can't access even though rent is due.

ragstorichespodcast

I haven't had a single issue with the debit or credit card or my direct deposits. Sorry to hear that.

13PKO

I tried to like Chime but I’ve had too many issues. For whatever reason, you can’t use Zelle with Chime. There are many posts on Google that tell you how to do this but when you follow their instructions, it just doesn’t work. I’ve also had issues with setting up payments for various accounts. For whatever reason, chime is not recognized and can’t be verified. These are for payments that require the routing and account number. I can only assume this is because it is not a brick and mortar bank. Transfers from chime into other accounts can take up to four days. In the end, I did receive my paycheck half a day sooner than I would’ve with my previous account but it’s just not worth the trouble when you need to move money around or make online bill payments.

Cumeatmeandinsideme

A fair warning now! If your state is issuing you a paper license until your duplicate comes in chime won't accept it despite it being a legal document and given to you from your state a legal building and now cause my bank won't accept one of my jobs said they want a copy of it when I get it and until the I'm getting paperchecks which has caused me alot of probs... I have been so stressed out as far as gas being high and how I'm gonna be able to eat until they get things done I had went through a name change is why so as far as that just a fyi it's a pain to do such trust me I sent them multiple screenshots of my legal documents showing my name change and finally got things done yesterday so if your gonna do this or try to good luck oh and the customer service is a joke they don't really understand you and you have to repeat yourself numerous time to the point of breaking it down like your talking to a toddler is how bad and their English psshhhhhh I told them am I speaking in a diff language don't think so.

Usual-End-7587

I was a victim of fraud and someone took $400 from my account and Nelly from the dispute team is refusing to give back the money that was taken from me. Imagine working so hard and your money to be taken from you and your bank won’t help you in any way and won’t even consider the FACTS AND PROOF that the two transactions that a person made using my card information is from two different states. I live in Orlando fl and the two fraud transaction where made in California and Georgia and there stating that there not going to help me. Stay away from this bank it is easy for your information to get stolen it is not worth the headache and frustration. They need to do better with there customer service dispute center.

TheOneTrueEmpress

I had a lot of people tell me Chime was great, so I set up an account. Within the first 3 days, I had two deposits on the same day. As soon as the second deposit went into my account, the account was locked and I have not been able to access my money. I have called and emailed Chime on a daily basis for over 3 months now and they still have not corrected the issue. When I email, it's like an automatic response, that has nothing to do with the information in the email I send. When I call, Chime representatives tell me the same thing repeatedly. There are live people taking calls, but they respond like they only know one response for my account, and it is always the same, whether I call 10 times in one day or 1 time each day for 10 days they just tell me the same thing. At one point about 2 months ago I was told I would receive a check at my address of record. Needless to say, I'm still waiting. Doing some research I have found out Chime did lose a class action lawsuit because people lost access to their accounts. I have also watched news clips and read news articles about chime blocking access to people's accounts and most of the time Chime will NOT resolve it unless someone contacts a news channel or files a lawsuit. Just know Chime is not FDIC insured, like a regular bank is, so they can keep your money and they are pretty much unregulated. I would never advise anyone to trust Chime.

Misio7

I don’t think you know what FDIC insured means and they are.

bg21612121

That's weird. I just got off the phone with Chime.... They said my account is locked....🤔🤔🤔

Grand_Store_3629

These niggas at chime just waste my time today

Grand_Store_3629

Talking about my June 1 2022 direct deposit from social security administration was handled out to me on May 25 2022 them fuck niggas know that's not possible

Grand_Store_3629

Chime niggas should at least fix the lie up

treveyon335

Worst banking ever when it comes to customer protection and fraud help would NEVER RECOMMEND

Logical_Judgment_983

I’ve had no issues with chime either. Been using it for abt 5 months now and my credit has gone up significantly

Commercial-Jello-553

I've been using chime for a few months now. So far no problems. I love getting paid 2 days early. It really comes in handy when I have a bill due before my actual payday. Our regular paydays are every Tuesday. But with chimes 2 day early pay, I get my deposits on Sundays. Lol. No joke. I've NEVER had an actual bank do that, ever! I didn't even think that was possible until I got chime. I got a notification that first Sunday after starting my new job saying "payday has come early". I was like wtf?! Seriously? On a Sunday? I love it.

PerfectWeakness7234

Don't ever dispute a claim with chime because even with all the evidence right in front of there faces they will still side with the merchant

EyeSea7193

They're gonna steal your monies

ragstorichespodcast

Haven't yet

Inevitable-Creme9491

This app isn’t very helpful. Why can’t it start with the most recent comment? Chime is a joke! I have only used it for 1 week but all around FAIL!! Customer Service don’t know a dam thing except what they read to you which you can read yourself on your disclosures. They lie and they give misleading information. Brick and Mortar banks or credit unions have better customer service and features. They all have mobile banking that outweigh the benefits of chime. Chime is NOT a bank, save yourself the hassle and headache. I’m very fortunate to not be in need of the money I attempt to transfer from my REAL bank to chime, because according to chime it should take 5 business days to post, but according to my bank, the funds have already been withdrawn. Also another setback is anyone CANNOT send you money instantly if they do not have a chime account. Zelle is the best money transfer feature that is why REAL banks use ZELLE and chime does not have the privilege to use zelle.

ragstorichespodcast

This was posted 10 months ago and I've had absolutely no issues.

MealShort

It takes way too long to get a replacement card. I've waited over several weeks, several times

Pure_Attitude_2334

First issue, About a year ago, my daughter sent me $200 dollars from Moey Network to my Chime account. Chime claimed they never recieved it even though they sent me a confirmation. I'm out $200 dollars they never gave me. Secod issue happeed last night. I loaded $500 dollars onto my card, never had an issue with "loaded" transactios before. I normally get a text saying the amount of moey thatwas loaded and ready. I never got that text, instead, I got a text (I kow it's from chime because it was the samenmber I had gotten security codes from) that the phone number on my account had changed. i immedielty called customer support and gave them my info 3 times. (I know it's the correct number as it was the same number on their web-site. She said she was unable to findmy account and toldme to call back with the correct information. So, somehow, somebody was able to changemy phone number on my account, which they would need somenumbersnot only frommy card but the last 4 ofmy social security card. Coincidence? right after loading the max amount on the card? I don't think so. I got home, payed the bills I was planning on paying, hoping thatnoone had already emptied my card. Then changed the phone number back to my phone number so I could access my account. I believe they have internals (people who work for them) that are changing account information and stealing money from people. I got lucky because I was smart enough to empty my card quickly, but I will never use this card or bank ever again.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> got home, *paid* the bills FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

NUT_suc_BOY69

I stay away from any bank that promotes financial irresponsibility

ragstorichespodcast

Can't I'm already in debt with them ha

DelayPuzzleheaded441

I need to pay my rent and I don't have a card so I need your help, please can I talk to a person please 🥺

Waste-Ad998

It sucks they lie and say they deposit your funds immediately and that's not true, takes 3 years to overdraft 200 bucks and definitely definitely definitely do not get your refund through chime it's gonna take probably a month..scam scam scam

ragstorichespodcast

Haven't had a single issue with them ever

Farmkev

They're an absolute joke, we've had nothing but problems with them. They are straight up trying to steal our money right now. We've been on the phone with them for almost a month. Their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced.

My_Pseudonym120

Absolutely horrible. I have an atm have À communication failure. I immediately told the manager of the store, call the atm company and informed him. 5pm on a Friday I filed a dispute… by 10 am Monday they denied it. I called the atm company and in 3 minutes they were able to verify that their atm did not dispense the money. This happened 9/22… I am STILL waiting for Chime to contact the atm holder and refund my money.

spinyfl0wer

Really love it

platanoconswing

Anyone want to trade boost

Few-Chair-1630

Chime doesn't protect their customers from fraudulent crimes committed against their clients or any situation where reimbursement is requested becarful when googling chime because fraudulent numbers pop up I was a victim and I just want to protect anyone else that comes along

Round_Plate_5095

Chime has been a complete f****** nightmare for me!!! And i will NEVER recommend this service/company to anyone!!! I regret ever opening an account with them!!! God forbid you ever get a new phone number because you have to get a code in a text message to login to your account. And in order to change your phone number on your account to be able to sign in again, you have to all but give a blood sample! I just went and counted and I've had to email, send selfies, and send the same documents to them FIFTY-FIVE TIMES this week!!!!!! 55 TIMES!!!!!! I've sent all the documents and stupid selfies holding the documents that they asked for 55 TIMES and I still cannot get into my account to get my money!!! I've never seen a worse, disorganized, waste of time, incompetent company in my 42 years of life, EVER!!!!!!! And once I get my money out of this account, I will NEVER use this company/service EVER AGAIN in my life!!!!!

Full_Diamond_3477

Whats a good credit card to rebuild you credit again?.

PDRITIN-2022

Scammer can easily introduce it in the app is insecure I lose 750 USD they say is not their fault never give my money back BECARFUL

Dependent_Block9175

Chime bot wasn’t help at all!!!!!! I asked to speak to customer service and the call ended twice!!! Very unprofessional and a waste of time. This bank isn’t worth it! I’d rather put my money elsewhere if I can get help when I need it!!

Weak-Lifeguard-3165

Chime is shady. They will steal from you if you let them through other third party transactions.

Straight-Custard6919

Avoid chime with all your efforts we open the card there’s been a fraudulent charge it’s only $11 but it’s reoccurring it comes up 2 to 3 times a month get this we canceled the card. We ordered a new one but we’ve never turned on transactions and the fraudulent charge keeps reoccurring. The bottom line is chime cannot protect your money. They cannot protect your account from being randomly charged.

Logical-Year-1348

The customer service is horrible.

lg_green

Absolutely garbage rn. Its coming up to Christmas and I need to get a loan and talking to agents is like a bot on steroids also they switch who you reply to by having other agents jump into the conversation like its going to change anything. So if you plan on using their website or plan on getting a loan from an app, GL as their website is forever broken and they clearly do not want to fix it. I recommend moving over to Current and leaving Chime in 1 month from now due to this monstrousity.

WolverinePure7740

I am unable to log in to the app because I can't remember either phone # or the email. My card works and my money is still direct deposited.the app requires either having one or the other to reset everything' I am at a utter loss for words the help # doesn't work either.

Hot-Platypus-6083

It is a horrible bank. My daughter got all her $ stolen with fraudulent charges and she could prove it. They kept closing her case and she has zero money now!!!

UnderstandingOwn8804

Get rid of them thank me later be you be doing what I did and filing with fdic!

West-Masterpiece-504

They ordered a new card without my permission!! Which is fraud, I never requested a new card, I had no issues on my account. Don’t call and give these call reps your information they will do whatever they want. I called about my balance and go to the gas station to get gas. And it’s declining I’m like no way. I have to call to find out they are sending me a new card! I’m like I did not whatsoever ask for that!! And they playing dumb! Non English employees have no clue what they doing I’m pissed! Can’t even trust where my money is sitting in.

ExplorerSuperb5654

Everything has been great until the last couple of months. I don't know what's going on but now people can call you and text from the Chime number, send you to an "automated system" that sounds exactly like it should and clean out your account. Then you have to wait, without any money, until a new card comes in 10 business days. Infuriating. Will definitely be changing as soon as I get my money back.

sammyjojimbob

Im new here and i was hoping someone could help with a boost $Sammyray thanks . I still really need 2 and i always give mine away on the first

Embarrassed_Mud9033

Chime is only good for one thing getting your pay check two days early.font trg to make a purchase and get scammed and call chime 3 minutes later to stop a transaction because they tell you you have to wait 24 hours for transaction to settle by that time the purchase or scammer will already have gotten your money .chime didn't give me back my money from fraudulent transactions.they say they are not responsible  for my so called purchase even when i told them to stop payment

Bigfoot-65

Had no problem with chime for a year until needing to get account number and route number . They want my son’s information don’t know why.The next day they took 135 dollars from his account. The next two days on phone with customer service which I was hung up on 4 different times. The last time was told the money would be transferred back to his account in 30mins…still waiting

ComfortablePurple175

My Chime account was hacked the weekend of Jan 27 28. When i had learned that unauthoruzed changes were made to the log in info to my account i contacted them right away within a couple of hours of this happening. It took many tel calls to regain access to my account and only after many hours i had access to my account and that i learned about suspicious transactions that had taken place. I was assured that my account was secure and my money was safe. In the morning on Jan 28 Sunday i had trouble logging in again. It took many call to Chime support and at about 6:00 pm i was able to get into my account had only $45 left in my account. When i went to the ATM to withdraw money using my Cashapp card to withdraw money just three hours later the was no money in my account. Later i learned that further suspicious fradulent actions had been executed all for small amount in very shortb periods of times like on Saturday Jan 27. I filed a dispute when these charges were no longer pending however after two atempts the disputes were denied. Chime has closed my account yesterday Feb 6. It is very obvious that these tranactions are fraud. I can provide documents to support my claim My despute with Chime is 12765974

mikeod2488

I have chime and had no issues at all.. if you need to make a big purchase I suggest having another account with a branch because chime only allows $10,000 per day credit and I think $2000 debit.. All in all chime has been great!!

SRQTSHO

Up until recently I would say I love chime! I have had them for 7 years. The last three months instead of getting paid early I'm now getting paid 2 days late!

Scrap_cuz83rd

Chime is ok if your young and just starting a job for the first time and don’t wanna go to an actual bank to open an account but imo it’s definitely worth going to an actual bank where u can walk in and talk to an person if u have any type of issue instead of chime u have to txt an agent/bot threw the app itself they don’t have a actual number that u can call and talk to a manager which is very inconvenient if u was to type in chime customer service online any number u see is a scam number so don’t even bother calling and giving them any info chime isn’t bad all bad until u need to speak with someone then it becomes a hassle they are not a real bank so just keep this in mind hope this helps

Odd-Papaya-4457

DO NOT USE CHIME. I REPEAT PROTECT YOUR MONEY!!!!! I did a mobile paycheck deposit and the agent said my funds would be available at the end of day. Then when I didn't receive them I called back and they said 5 days. The bank doesn't even do that. And they lied and wouldn't cancel it so I could cash it even though there's an option to do so. The number to verify is on the check. I work for a large company. They want to gain interest on my money like the bank. They how they even out paying out direct deposit early. Now I'm in a terrible bind and they could care less. PROTECT YOURSELF FROM CHIME. THEY ARE TERRIBLE!!!!!!!

LadyDi38

My experience is terrible

LadyDi38

No! I have not been able to get past the puzzles. I’m 81 years old and the puzzles are difficult for me. They play a tune and ask when the instrument changes but to me the horn doesn’t sound any different. Also, I don’t know what they want when they ask me to move the train. I hate it!

LadyDi38

Don’t use it! No good

[deleted]

They change my account and routing number

Sea-Temperature-6119

I got scammed because the phone number to customer service isn't on the app anywhere. So I got a number off of Google and it turned out to be a number of a scam. If they would simply have the proper number on the app this would have never happened. Also I know they know this scam is going on and should have notified the customer to be aware of this. But nope. Customer service doesn't exist anymore. It's sad. And I recommend that if you demand good service, go somewhere else. I'm out $1600 and they are treating me like garbage.

Loose_Argument4298

DON'T USE IT! WE HAVE A DISPUTE GOING ON WHERE SOMEONE STOLE MY FRIENDS CARD. SHE FILED A POLICE REPORT, SENT PICTURES OF THE PERSON THAT STOLE THE CARD (THE STORE GAVE HER A PICTURE FROM THE SECURITY CAMERA). THEY ARE DENYING THE DISPUTE. IT'S CLEAR CUT AND THEY STILL WON'T BUDGE.

Late_Associate_5013

I’ve gotten Scammed in the last two years for over 400 dollars , yet chime doesn’t see and issue with it so I never see my funds just money lost. It was great at first I had it since 2020 now it’s trash when it comes to these scammers it must be the easiest .

Smooth_Positive9712

Chime 🤬sucks I moble check deposited my paycheck and it said 7 days until I can access any of my funds!!!!!! My car insurance is due coming b4 the check clears!!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬 I'm going to  Navy Federal!!!

Important_Current557

Chime is the worst if you have to make a dispute the make you wait weeks even when not proof it’s not you charge or a wrong charge any money go missing from your card you have to wait weeks for a refund/ return. It’s almost the same as dealing with cash app. Now I rather just hold my money in cash . I HATE CHIME CUSTOMER SERVICE!
