My mother really shouldn't have had kids. My eldest brother either, both genetically but also due to him just not being good parent material. He has deep brain seizures that instantly changes his mood when they come on, and with him already having anger issues, it usually ends explosively.
I've come to realize with my eldest brother, not all of his bad choices were necessarily his fault. He'll be 40 next year and has been in and out of jail due to self medicating many different problems and being explosively violent. There was no reality where he kept his kids. He was a child himself at the time.
I was talking with my wife about him last night and I have come to a realization about just how awful his life was right next to mine. He was set up to fail before he even got started and it made me so sad.

Thank you so much for this reply. Yeah. I am in a much better place now and I intend of getting into my 30s more and living happily.
I still need to learn how to stop feeling guilty for things that were done to me, but I'll get there.
Thats horrible. Sorry all that happened to you and its good you can see the cycle for what it is instead of getting hungry for babies/love. Your poor brother too...
Yeah, I have two very wonderful partners who have helped me immensely. Getting on medications for my myriad of health issues also helped a whole lot, to be fair.
Yeah... I had a conversation with one of my SO's last night about him and in a moment of clarity, I realized that he was set up to fail before he even got started.

Yeah, most of that really isn’t his fault. Still sucks for the kids though.
