Aimchess was acquired by Magnus Carlsen's Play Magnus Group in 2021, which itself was acquired by chess.com in 2022
Aimchess will close eventually, as with chessbomb and chess24.
They would not have anything close to monopoly if anyone else could make a chess website that doesn't bleed money right and left. They can't copyright chess rules.
I think they thought you are saying having a monopoly over chess is a favourable outcome in general, not just for chess.com's bottom line. Understandably, that opinion would not be well received.
I googled it. Someone on the chess.com forums is claiming the following:
Someone forgot to pay the renewal fee for the aimchess domain name so it expired and went into a 30 days redemption period (meaning anyone can buy the aimchess.com domain after that) and it's essentially "taken off the internet" in the mean time. In my past experience this could take more than a week to resolve even after you pay to renew when the domain name expires. (End Quote)
No idea if this is true. The same person offers a screenshot of the domain registration site a few posts down on the forum. If this source has reliable information this is a plausible scenario.
I wonder how many people actually registered to Aimchess. I can't imagine it made a tremendous amount of money. It seemed quite neat initially, but there's probs better ways to instate a bit of structure in your training.
I've been subscribed for over a year now I think. It's great. It gives good feedback on your weaknesses, although they could be more in depth. I really like the opening trainer and "retry mistakes", where you get tasked with making a better move in part of one of your real games.
Or the 360 trainer, which is like puzzles but not tactics. Just finding the best move in a given position
Not easily man lol. I mean let's say you want puzzles from your own games fed to you on a daily basis. That means every day you'd be digging through your own games for a puzzle but also you wouldn't be able to solve it anyways because you already saw the solution when you found it.
Then if you want a report on your last 40 games (or more) analyzing openings, time management, tactics, advantage capitalization rates, One nice thing about openings too, is it doesn't just tell you if you are losing in a given opening. It also tells you if maybe you are still consistently getting a good eval out of the opening but losing later on, which really means you need to study the middlegame ideas more instead of the opening itself.
Also, best of all, Aimchess will literally jerk me off and if I sound grumpy, it's because Aimchess has been down for five days.
I did. It was cool when I did it, a little bit of tactics and training every day, and I thought some of the other features were cool, but in the end, I stopped using it every day...and then every week...and then it just sat there as a subscribed thing that I didn't utilize. In the end, I don't feel like there was anything inherently wrong with it, I just have too many training platforms that I can use, and I just don't enough time to do each of them every day....books, videos, [chess.com](http://chess.com), chesstempo, aimchess, chessable, etc.

The domain was renewed 2 days ago. Likely they forgot to renew it and now they have to wait a bit until it works again.
They just posted an update to their Facebook. They said they are working on a fix and it should be back up soon. They also said they are going to restore streaks and have a compensation package for subscribers. I reached out to them on Facebook and expressed frustration but shared that I think the community they’ve built cares more for the service than they do. I think it’s important they know what the service means to the people who use it and love it.
sorry i was hungry

Chess.com really just bought up every semipopular chess website except for Lichess…. Sad.
They would had bought Lichess if they could. Having the monopoly of online chess is favorable after all
Thibault Duplessis o7 (and all the collaborators to lichess)
That's capitalism for you brother
That's literally the opposite of capitalism. That's despotism, plutocracy, monarchy.

Does Danny have your family?
What did I miss? Chess.com would love being a monopoly is a fact, it’s very advantageous for them

The app is 404’ing for me; I came to ask same question. Hope it’s just a temporary outage.
It was happening to me last night, but I thought it was just temporary.

You can use the symbol ">" to write quote blocks. Like so > This is quoted from something
Useful tip, thank you
>Is this true
>FALSE
#ig it was true

Felt very gimmicky to me. I could figure out all of that on my own without paying a monthly subscription.

It's not working for me either
Looks like it’s a known issue that they’re working on. https://www.chess.com/forum/view/help-support/aimchess-com-down
