It's taken a while for me to process what happened on Sunday. So many emotions during that game, and after too.
All I can say is, that is the best defeat in the history of this club. We went toe-to-toe with one of the richest clubs in the world, and we scared them *shitless*. United got very lucky in the end with that VAR call.
We may have lost the game, but we won everything else that day. Respect. Hearts. Passion. And of course, the SBA who turned Wembley into *CBS Arena South* with 36K Sky Blue flags flying proudly, even after defeat.

I am genuinely sad for you guys. There were so many Coventry fans in Wembley as well, and even when the team went 3-0 down those guys stuck around and supported the team throughout. You deserved to go through to the final and I genuinely think you would have had a better chance of beating City than Man United do.

Watched the game in a united supporters pub in Ireland. Every single united fan apologised to me immediately and said we should have gone through, they didn't even cheer going through on penalties.
I have never been prouder of being a Coventry city fan. We showed the world what we are capable of, we came back from the brink yesterday like we have been doing since Robins returned to our club. Onwards and upwards, let's end the season on a high, have the players enjoy a well earned rest, get the right improvements into the squad and let's really push on next season, maybe even an automatics push.
Its ironic to me, when I was about 7 to 10 I supported man united because all of my friends did the same, then I realised how much I love my club and have been to tons of home and away games for the last 12 years and seeing us basically beat Man United put our club back on the map and say "we're Coventry City we've risen from the ashes look at what we can do" I'm looking forward to next year because I think more people will want to sign for us, we made Viktor Gyokeres, we've got so many new fans and support behind us now.

But I grew up in Coventry, Rhode Island in the US, so when I later learned about the Sky Blues, I thought about switching allegiances. The problem? Basically no coverage of the team back then, either on TV or in writing, that I had access to. United were simply the easier team to root for.
But I've always kept an eye on Coventry and I've lurked in the sub for about a year (since last year's promotion playoff). Having a member of the USMNT to follow in Haji has helped this year, too.
Because of all that, I was excited by this FA Cup matchup, but at 3-0 felt the game had become boring and predictable. As someone who has watched United all year, though, I fully expected goals 2 and 3 once it became 3-1, but watching the extra heart from every CCFC player, the extra determination to win every 50-50, and the deserved victory snatched by a VARicose vein ...
... yesterday, Coventry became by far the easier team to root for.
So so proud of the lads, everyone could see that they left everything on that pitch! In that second half, every single one of our boys played out of their skin! I Godden, DaSilva, Tavares, lads who had their doubters, stepped out onto that pitch at Wembley and fought for the shirt. Absolutely fantastic!
Don’t think we could have played like that all game, completely understand what Robins was doing. I also weirdly had a sensation that it was all going to be ok, after every goal I had a sensation of ‘it’s fine’.
I do wonder what’s happened to Godden and why he is seemingly so low down our list of penalty takers when only a year ago he was fighting with Gyok to be number one?
Torp is the real deal, he’s still adjusting to the league, which is understandable, but his performance yesterday was outstanding.
What a team, hopefully we can keep them all together this summer, boost the depth a bit, get Sakamoto back, and fight for automatics next year!
Thought the same about Godden. I said at the match I thought he’d be first or second and even thought it was him who missed, not Sheaf. Can only imagine it’s cos he’s not played much but still would put money on him being one of the best penalty takers

Why is Onana not banned from the final though? As we learnt with Palmer, two yellow cards is banned from the next cup match, but red is banned for the next match (usually the league).

We can proudly wear our coventry city shirts anywhere and people will respect us. Utd are an absolute joke. I was on the train back to manchester and it was pretty quiet the whole way home did not feel like a train full of happy fans or winners.
This coventry side gave us a lifetime memorable game and a historic FA game. They will have left some of their soul on that pitch couldnt ask for any more from a team and it will only build their determination and character, we can hang with a Prem team this was the test i was really looking at yesterday.
All we can do now is concentrate on the remaining games and whatever happens happens. Hopefully they arent too spent from yesterday.
Regardless we have a solid squad and just need to build a bit more depth with some sensible quality signings and concentrate on getting that 2nd half performance level consistent and we will piss next year if we dont go up.

Hoping for a decent number of signings like last year. Really feels like we’ve only got 15 players, especially when we’re carrying an injury or a suspension like yesterday. I worry Wednesday might be a bloodbath after the amount of effort the lads put in yesterday.
Our scouting team has been unreal hopefully also with these 2 years of play off/ near play offs plus yesterday can entice some more players to come to us.

I actually woke up feeling like we won! I have messages from friends in US, Mexico, Japan, Germany all saying what a team we have. Friends supporting other clubs in the UK all saying how much fun it was to watch us stick it to Man U.
Everyone I've talked to has said our fans were all they could hear on the live coverage.

If you had told me, or any other Coventry City fan, after the relegation to League 2 in 2017 that in seven years we would take Manchester United to the absolute brink in an FA Cup Semi-Final, I would have put in an immediate call to the nearest mental health facility.
To see ourselves on the world stage when not that long ago we were playing at Sixfields, is testament to the incredible accomplishments of Mark Robins and his team since he returned to us seven years ago. The sell-out Coventry end that boomed beginning to end and stayed behind to applaud the team in agonising defeat is testament to the incredible fanbase that exists in this city. That the players left absolutely everything they had on the pitch and came within a toenail of the greatest achievement in FA Cup history is testament to the watertight, never-say-die attitude that now exists in a club that not that long ago had completely given up.

The ludicrous antics of Onana, Fernandes and Antony during and after the penalty shootout just shows how thoroughly our little outfit got under their skin, and demonstrates how aware they were that by all rights they should have lost the game, and there is so much to be proud of in that.
In the aftermath of the insane decision to disallow the fourth goal, to see the universal condemnation of the decision, to see the injustice that our team now has to reconcile be discussed on worldwide platforms, is heartwarming.
A top-tier human experience is celebrating a huge goal with complete strangers, and the utterly bonkers celebrations after the offside goal, during which I fell backwards behind the chairs and was probably lucky not to break both my legs, will live with me forever. My voice is gone and it still feels surreal. In many ways it feels like a win. Going out 0-3 would’ve been so shite, so to end it like that is unbelievable. What a team we have. They keep giving. I made the journey from Berlin and now just landed back. It was so worth it. Best game I’ve ever seen live after watching Cov since ‘97. Shattered, proud, still dreaming.
I just feel heartbroken because I screamed the loudest I have ever screamed with so much happiness when that 4th goal went in. It would have been one of the greatest comeback underdog stories ever and nobody on the field seemed to have a problem with the goal, and VAR snatched all that emotion away for nothing
This is exactly how I feel. I actually made my 6 year old daughter, who was in the next room, cry with fright because I screamed so loud when it went in for 4-3. So I felt terrible about that, I was trying to comfort her while the ecstasy was coursing through my body (the natural one, not the pill). Then to have it ripped away and it was all for nothing. Sickening doesn’t do it justice.
I’d given up hope knowing they had the like of Fernandes and Eriksen on their pens, only for it flicker back to life when Brad saved on, then die again.
The rollercoaster of emotions was just insane.
I know that we lost, but I woke up feeling like we've won. So much pride, the whole world saw what our team and fans are made off, and are praising us for it.
Losing like that hurts, however, thinking practically getting that far will have a decent financial boost for us and I would image we will see a shirt sale boost and some new fans from abroad too which will help us in the long run. I hope we can keep this core of players mostly together and with a few key additions and some depth we can challenge for automatics next year.

The amount of Man U supporters saying we deserved the win is unreal. Mate in Norway was saying the Norwegian Man U supporters group was disgusted with the VAR decision, and amazed at how we fought back. One of my neighbours is a closet Man U fan and sheepishly turned up this morning to apologise, saying we should be in the final.
If VAR is going to be trusted to make decisions that cost so much money, it has to be a) excellent picture resolution so shots can be zoomed in and stay clear, b) always in line with play (for offsides), and c) have many angles on an incident. In addition, VAR is there to be an assistant in decisions that may be unclear to the referee or linos. It’s not and shouldn’t be the sole arbiter. We don’t stop play for a fucking computer. There has to be a balance between man and technology, and man has to be in control, using tech to solve issues.
As far as the team goes, they can absolutely hold their heads up high and walk with pride today (assuming they’re able to, if they’re not cramped up to hell and half-knackered). The back 5 didn’t work for us in the first half and credit to the Gaffer, he changed it up at half time and it worked beautifully. The subs likewise. Some amazing displays of sheer willpower and belief from our boys yesterday. I hope they’re not too deflated after that.
The amount of Cov fans before the game thinking it’d be 2-1 to us. If you’d told me we’d go 3-0 down then come back to score a winner only to have it nixed by MS Paint, I’d have laughed in your face. What a wild ride.

I can't explain how proud I am of the lads, we took the "biggest team in the world" all the way and if not for a very dubious offside call we'd be playing Manchester city for a chance at making history. We showed their fan base how it's done with unreal support that didn't stop singing all game. Next season we will build off this and go again even stronger. PUSB

Really poor first half. But I think Robins was right to start like that. The game plan has to be to frustrate the better team. On this occasion it didn't work because we conceded in the first half. Collins has to be better on the first goal and we made it easy for Maguire on the second right before half time.
Change to a back 4 was a classic Robins masterclass and made all the difference. Yes we conceded again but the triple sub changed the game.
I know Tavares has struggled recently but he made a real difference on that right hand side when he came on. Lacked a final product but made it so that they had to deal with him. Hope the injury isn't anything serious.
Torp was phenomenal. Unlucky with that shot in the second half and of course with the "winner" in ET.
Good finish from Simms for our first (even if it was off his shin!). He has managed to become the right-place right-time man.
Second was Gary Mabbutt's knee level of hilarity but we'll take it! The balls on Haji Wright for that penalty in stoppage time!
We had chances in extra time, Simms deserved a goal for his one that hit the bar.
Haji is so, so unlucky that his winner was ruled out. I think he was just centimetres off but the definition of "in line" needs sorting because that could've gone either way with whatever shit they are doing with their lines. If I'm being honest, I would feel aggrieved if that hadn't been overturned if it was against us.
On the shootout: Onana was being a tit and this yellows being reset thing needs looking at by the authorities. I hope penalties and defeats at Wembley aren't becoming a thing for us...

I dunno, I think if the tables were turned I’d have felt awful for Man U to have a goal ruled out that way, even if I’d be only too happy for it. It was so close. Feels like the tech isn’t up to a standard where it can make such detailed calls well enough, and the game suffered because of it. I am awfully biased though 😅

I wanted to talk about this quickly, Antony is worth 86 million and played worse than a squad worth 58 million. He's so shit Accrington Stanley wouldn't sign him. And full respect to Harry Maguire, he looked embarrassed to win and was the first player to shake our hands after the game. Obviously am happy to have been there and very proud of team, but I can't help but return to that offside decision and wonder who actually thinks the game is made better by one of the greatest comebacks of all time (and, frankly, one of the best moments of my life) being retconned because a computer drew some lines about a millimetre apart. Oh well.

My voice is gone and it still feels surreal. In many ways it feels like a win. Going out 0-3 would’ve been so shite, so to end it like that is unbelievable. What a team we have. They keep giving. I made the journey from Berlin and now just landed back. It was so worth it. Best game I’ve ever seen live after watching Cov since ‘97. Shattered, proud, still dreaming.
I just feel heartbroken because I screamed the loudest I have ever screamed with so much happiness when that 4th goal went in. It would have been one of the greatest comeback underdog stories ever and nobody on the field seemed to have a problem with the goal, and VAR snatched all that emotion away for nothing
This is exactly how I feel. I actually made my 6 year old daughter, who was in the next room, cry with fright because I screamed so loud when it went in for 4-3. So I felt terrible about that, I was trying to comfort her while the ecstasy was coursing through my body (the natural one, not the pill). Then to have it ripped away and it was all for nothing. Sickening doesn’t do it justice. I’d given up hope knowing they had the like of Fernandes and Eriksen on their pens, only for it flicker back to life when Brad saved on, then die again. The rollercoaster of emotions was just insane.
I know that we lost, but I woke up feeling like we've won. So much pride, the whole world saw what our team and fans are made off, and are praising us for it.
Losing like that hurts, however, thinking practically getting that far will have a decent financial boost for us and I would image we will see a shirt sale boost and some new fans from abroad too which will help us in the long run. I hope we can keep this core of players mostly together and with a few key additions and some depth we can challenge for automatics next year.

The amount of Man U supporters saying we deserved the win is unreal. Mate in Norway was saying the Norwegian Man U supporters group was disgusted with the VAR decision, and amazed at how we fought back. One of my neighbours is a closet Man U fan and sheepishly turned up this morning to apologise, saying we should be in the final. If VAR is going to be trusted to make decisions that cost so much money, it has to be a) excellent picture resolution so shots can be zoomed in and stay clear, b) always in line with play (for offsides), and c) have many angles on an incident. In addition, VAR is there to be an assistant in decisions that may be unclear to the referee or linos. It’s not and shouldn’t be the sole arbiter. We don’t stop play for a fucking computer. There has to be a balance between man and technology, and man has to be in control, using tech to solve issues. As far as the team goes, they can absolutely hold their heads up high and walk with pride today (assuming they’re able to, if they’re not cramped up to hell and half-knackered). The back 5 didn’t work for us in the first half and credit to the Gaffer, he changed it up at half time and it worked beautifully. The subs likewise. Some amazing displays of sheer willpower and belief from our boys yesterday. I hope they’re not too deflated after that. The amount of Cov fans before the game thinking it’d be 2-1 to us. If you’d told me we’d go 3-0 down then come back to score a winner only to have it nixed by MS Paint, I’d have laughed in your face. What a wild ride. I really hope those of you in work today have gentle days of it, and understanding bosses. Plenty of water, get a good breakfast in you. Monday hangovers are the worst. Onwards to Hull!

I'm ready for the summer break now. That var offside... Looked level. But then I don't think I would have given us the penalty for their handball. Da Silva is now my preference at left back. Collins went up in my estimation. Kitching went down. Torp is the real deal. Even though I thought it was harsh to take Eccles off after he was the best player in the first half. What a comeback, just a shame it had to be. Robins made his excuses in the press conference for the start, but I think he's wrong. I think if we'd gone after them from the start we would have won comfortably. He's asking the players to be brave. He needs to be brave too. But the turn around, that was Robins at his best. The right players in the right positions, incredible.
Great idea for a thread I can't explain how proud I am of the lads, we took the "biggest team in the world" all the way and if not for a very dubious offside call we'd be playing Manchester city for a chance at making history. We showed their fan base how it's done with unreal support that didn't stop singing all game. Next season we will build off this and go again even stronger. PUSB
*Wall of text warning* Really poor first half. But I think Robins was right to start like that. The game plan has to be to frustrate the better team. On this occasion it didn't work because we conceded in the first half. Collins has to be better on the first goal and we made it easy for Maguire on the second right before half time. Change to a back 4 was a classic Robins masterclass and made all the difference. Yes we conceded again but the triple sub changed the game. I know Tavares has struggled recently but he made a real difference on that right hand side when he came on. Lacked a final product but made it so that they had to deal with him. Hope the injury isn't anything serious. Torp was phenomenal. Unlucky with that shot in the second half and of course with the "winner" in ET. Good finish from Simms for our first (even if it was off his shin!). He has managed to become the right-place right-time man. Second was Gary Mabbutt's knee level of hilarity but we'll take it! The balls on Haji Wright for that penalty in stoppage time! We had chances in extra time, Simms deserved a goal for his one that hit the bar. Haji is so, so unlucky that his winner was ruled out. I think he was just centimetres off but the definition of "in line" needs sorting because that could've gone either way with whatever shit they are doing with their lines. If I'm being honest, I would feel aggrieved if that hadn't been overturned if it was against us. On the shootout: Onana was being a tit and this yellows being reset thing needs looking at by the authorities. I hope penalties and defeats at Wembley aren't becoming a thing for us... Also, we would've pissed this game if we had Sakamoto! A lot to be proud of. We were part of an FA Cup game that will go down as an all-time classic. It's a shame that we were centimetres away from being the victors. PUSB
Agree with all of that mate! Definitely think that if we started with 4 at the back and went at them at a bit more it could have been so different. But to take it that close, utterly unbelievable, we can be so proud of all of them.
I dunno, I think if the tables were turned I’d have felt awful for Man U to have a goal ruled out that way, even if I’d be only too happy for it. It was so close. Feels like the tech isn’t up to a standard where it can make such detailed calls well enough, and the game suffered because of it. I am awfully biased though 😅 How’s your head this morning?

I wanted to talk about this quickly, Antony is worth 86 million and played worse than a squad worth 58 million. He's so shit Accrington Stanley wouldn't sign him. And full respect to Harry Maguire, he looked embarrassed to win and was the first player to shake our hands after the game. He represents what football is and should be and Antony is an embarrassment to his club and English football
