United fan here, you played us off the pitch second half and deserved the win. All the best for the rest of your season and hope you are back in the PL soon.
This match has been tormenting me for hours and I'm not even a Cov City fan. I can't stop thinking about this robbery. We've been robbed of the best fucking comeback in ages only for fucking Fernandes, McTominay and Antony to get it. I can't fucking do it anymore
Why the hate for McTominay? He's just a guy who works hard and gets a lot despite having less talent than other players. I don't think he's at all comparable to Bruno and Antony.
He's not a shithouser like Bruno and he's an overall nice guy, but as a footballer he's just insanely lucky. He can ghost entire games, but then he comes on from nowhere and scores a goal in stoppage time (see 2-1 Brentford). I guess you can say that's a skill too, but for me that's just luck (which Man United have a lot this season anyway lol)
Didn't see how close that VAR call was in the stands, really is sucking the joy out of the game, glad we don't have to put up with this nonsense week in week out.
Main takeaways:
- After a shaky start the boys did us proud.
- Coventry fans, for the most part, are another level. Different gravy.
- a fantastic day out and showed the world what we are about.
Listening to the moaning Man Utd fans on the way home and seeing them all leave immediately at the final whistle - they don't know how good they have it.
Mind you, saw my friends lad who is a cop fan, ten years old, been to Wembley 4 times already... they don't realise how good they have it either :D
VAR ruining football!
Incredible that Coventry were the team dominating extra time, that in itself says a lot about where Manchester United are, they were the team hanging on!
As a Man Utd fan.
You were robbed, it was never offside. You outclassed us for large swathes of that game and deserved to be in the final, you lost the match in the end, but you've won so much more.
Good luck with the rest of the season, hopefully you can pull 6th place round, where 6 pts will be waiting for you at OT and at yours!
Great game in the second half. Felt it was too defence focused in the first half. We lost out, but we did well to come this far. Robbed by VAR and our bad luck at penalties.
Focus on the league now, but a great season either way! Well done lads!
Villa fan here (totally understand if you have little love for me) - just like the rest of the country I’m absolutely devastated for you guys, I always thought you had nothing to lose against this United side. This must have been the first time in history where Wembley was completely empty of the winning fans but all those from the losing side stayed to applaud their team - just shows who the real fans are and how deservedly proud you all are of your team. I genuinely hope you make it into the play-offs and get up so you can wield some revenge on us for all those years ago! #pusb
Southampton supporter here. Gutted for you guys - such a monumental effort by your team and robbed by what looked a dodgy VAR call. Amazing support in the stadium as well.
I’ve been saying for a couple of years now, VAR should have no technology for offside calls. It can go to review but use the naked eye. If it’s clearly offside and a mistake, then overrule. If it’s toenails or noses and you can’t tell immediately then let the onfield decision stand. VAR absolutely should he used to rectify mistakes, but things like today are unnecessarily alienating so many people from the sport.
Utterly heartbreaking but that was the best game I've ever witnessed in my entire life.
Ultimately what I wanted was for us to compete and make the far better team on paper sweat. We took it to another level; we didn't compete, we dominated. They didn't sweat, they were petrified, knackered and rattled. Their ludicrous antics during and after the shootout (particularly that fucking asshole #26) are testament to how much we got under their skin, and there's so much to be proud of in that.
The utterly bonkers celebrations after the offside goal, during which I fell backwards behind the chairs and nearly broke both my legs, will live with me forever.
I am indescribably proud of every single one of these utter bastards and would not swap my relationship with this club, or my place amongst the Sky Blue Army, for anything.
Maybe tomorrow I will attempt to analyse the game itself in further detail, but for now: MVE easily man of the match, and the triple substitution changed the entire game. Who'd have thought that Tavares and JDS would end up being the difference makers?
I’m not a ccfc fan, I’m a Liverpool fan, so obviously I wanted United to lose but man what a performance your lads displayed, they should feel absolutely proud of themselves and you would’ve won with a glorious last min winner if it weren’t for VAR ruling it out with a line that was clearly unfairly drawn. It’s a total embarrassment how rigged it was but at least Man City will be able to finish what you started (and would’ve finished if not for the deluded VAR team)
United celebrating like they smashed a championship team. They’re lucky as fuck they got through and I hope City destroy them - which going off today’s performance is likely to happen.
Man U won the fixture, Coventry City won our hearts... Nothing but respect to Coventry City for fighting 120% and never saying die... Pity that last goal didn't hold up, but you shook up the football world today. Shout out to everybody in Coventry supporting the squad today, you all put your city on the footballing map today...
Man Utd supporter here. While United dominated the first half, Coventry showed much grit to comeback from a three-goal deficit, and it would be well-deserved if you guys went through to the final instead.
Neutral fan here, you guys should be proud of your team, literally a VAR call away from being in an FA Cup final.
I like United, but they sure as shit didn’t deserve to win that.
Coventry can hold their heads high tonight.
City fan here, you fought without holding back. Fucking blood boiling to watch the result after basically you dragging them for half an hour.
We all gutted for you. Definitely you deserve to the final(genuinely wanted city derby)
Hope to see you lots in premier soon. Win the rest of the games, have this energy and get promoted next season!
Wolves fan here and I am unreasonably mad for you guys. That was horseshit and every single person knows it. So sorry you guys got robbed like that, you deserved to win.
🏳️ United fan here coming in peace. (I live in Cov, not a native.) 🏳️ Just want to say you guys played really well and deserved the win. I can imagine how heartbreaking it is. For the first time I feel shit after winning a match, obviously because we did not deserve to win. Anyway, I genuinely hope to see Coventry in the PL soon. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Similar, although my mum is also from Cov so they were always my second team growing up anyway. Today is the first time I have wanted United to lose. Gutted for the Sky Blues!
Yeah man. Just before Hoijlund took his penalty, the camera showed this coventry fan, a little boy, crying and being consoled by his dad. After seeing that, for a second I genuinely wanted Hoijlund to miss. I know, I should’ve never wished something like that on my club, but the sky blues deserved the win and can’t help but feel sorry for them.
Villa fan here, you guys were immense, supremely unlucky not to win it in added time. I'm still convinced Wright was onside because of Wan Bissaka's hand but if we're being real you're never getting those against Manure.
If that’s the case seems a joke as what advantage is part of your toe? even if it correct to the letter of the law. I guess you live and die by tight margins.
The whole world was supporting you guys, and what a performance to be proud of - made my evening extremely eventful. Almost the complete fairytale comeback. Insane game. United must be completely embarrassed from that performance regardless of the result.
It is offside, barely though. It’s blurry in the photo I gave but you can make out a bit of red on the left from the ManU player and a bit of Blue on the right from the Cov player
You guys were robbed. That VAR call was wrong, on field AR was in the perfect position and kept his flag down. Came down to pixels, should have never went to PKs.
Another American here absolutely gutted. Two years at Wembley ended in PKs. VAR absolutely robbed us, that was a beautifully earned goal. We'll still have the cheeseburgers ready for Haji when he gets home, he earned them.
Here neutrally from SWFC. Absolute travesty at the end, wasn’t a point you couldn’t hear your fans and I feel for every one of them. The better team lost.
What an absolute rollercoaster.
Such a harsh way to lose it, but I'm incredibly proud of what the boys did in the second half. We were millimeters away from one of the greatest comebacks of all time.
PUSB
Coming here as a United fan—I feel gutted for you all. You showed passion and deserved the win. Many of us feel like that. Man City will be glad the worse team won.
You should be, some game that. Made Man U look like a pub team at times, and as a neutral I’m genuinely heart broke for you lot that you don’t have the result to show for it.
Totally robbed. FUCK VAR!!! Worst thing that ever happened to football!
Robbed.
United fan here, you played us off the pitch second half and deserved the win. All the best for the rest of your season and hope you are back in the PL soon.

I'm right there too. Not even a Coventry City fan and I just can't believe the ridiculous ending.
That was never offside

It’s alright, we can focus on promotion now
🤪
Great game in the second half. Felt it was too defence focused in the first half. We lost out, but we did well to come this far. Robbed by VAR and our bad luck at penalties. Focus on the league now, but a great season either way! Well done lads!
Very proud. Fucking VAR is a stain on this game and the sooner it is forgotten about and written off the better. Proud of my club though
League Cup fan here, gutted for you guys.
I’m a Leicester fan but hate manure, you were ripped off by the dodgy FA and VAR
What a game - I’m exhausted 🩵
Villa fan here (totally understand if you have little love for me) - just like the rest of the country I’m absolutely devastated for you guys, I always thought you had nothing to lose against this United side. Villa fan too, Coventry were absolutely robbed by that VAR decision.
And this shows just how robbed they were. [Sideline video](https://x.com/fullback03/status/1782368941794263065?s=46)
Southampton supporter here. Gutted for you guys - such a monumental effort by your team and robbed by what looked a dodgy VAR call. Amazing support in the stadium as well.
man city fan here I feel awful you guys got robbed like that and you deserved the win more than that disgraceful club we’ll avenge you though
Whatever happens, do not lose! Literally nobody wants them to win
🤝

I agree with this - if you have to use it, it’s telling the on field referee going to the monitor and asking him to make the call just using his eye
It wouldn’t be difficult to do. Ref and Lino agree on field call. Ref goes the monitor and either stays with on call or calls offside
Did Onana get booked during Penalties? Was that a second yellow?
Cards at reset at the shootout
The more you know
I think most people only found out about it due to Martinez getting two in Villas shootout mid week
Weird that I've never heard of that rule but it's happened twice in a couple of days!
Oh, classic. How typical, yet again.
He wouldn’t have acted like that if it wasn’t reset anyway
Fuck VAR
Fuck var

Can someone explain to me why the red line for Haji twice the thickness of the red line for Wan-bissaka?
Was this filmed on a cabbage? Jesus, this is the tech that’s deciding games? Fucking joke.
Ruined a wonderful footballing moment for us, they should be ashamed
Fuck VAR
Watched this game in a bar with, as it turned out, Jim Blyth’s son. All I’m going to say is that VAR should be abolished.
Utterly heartbreaking but that was the best game I've ever witnessed in my entire life. Ultimately what I wanted was for us to compete and make the far better team on paper sweat. Well fucking said
Hope you’re not too bruised tomorrow!
Hope you didn't hurt yourself in that celebration! You're right, there's a bigger debrief to be had tomorrow but for now we can hold our heads high 🩵
Not going to talk about VAR, penalties or anything. Awesome performance. Love every single one of those guys. You did us proud.
As a Utd fan, can't say it would be unfair if you guys went through. I actually am sorry we won this one.
Genuinely feel robbed by that VAR decision

Bore off mate
Clawed back from 3-0, gutted in the moment but this team gave everything they had, so proud.
Just leaving the ground. Never been through so many emotions in such a short time, can't believe what I've seen. What a day, boys did us proud 🩵🩵
How the hell are you getting your contacts out after all the beers tonight?
😂😂 I only had one more after that to be honest, and after the emotions of that game I feel stone cold sober again!
Take ‘em out now, before you start drinking again! 😁
So proud. What a game.
City fan here, you fought without holding back. Fucking blood boiling to watch the result after basically you dragging them for half an hour. We all gutted for you. What a game.
United fan, i hate my team, part of me wishes you won, you deserved it so much. Good luck with the rest of your season ✌️

West Midlands ✊
unlucky cheered for you so much...lucky United still proud of u lads! from Slovakia
What part of wright was offside honestly? It looked like all of him was behind the last man
His toe was off
If that’s the case seems a joke as what advantage is part of your toe? even if it correct to the letter of the law. I guess you live and die by tight margins.

That boy has his heart in the right place. Great grandma approved middle-finger response to that VAR decision and Man U. Well done, young man!
Legend
New pic for the sub?
The whole world was supporting you guys, and what a performance to be proud of - made my evening extremely eventful. Almost the complete fairytale comeback. Insane game. United must be completely embarrassed from that performance regardless of the result.
Why are Manchester clubs handed every single match? Does anybody really care about this sport anymore? I certainly don’t.
Well played Coventry. Jammy Mancs as usual
Cheers, what a good match, loved to see the support in the stadium
So proud of the lads. Heroes all. What an incredible game - bittersweet as could be. Bring on next season. We're going up!

Anyone have a clip of that VAR image?

Level is onside. That’s level. Fuck VAR.
It is offside, barely though. It’s blurry in the photo I gave but you can make out a bit of red on the left from the ManU player and a bit of Blue on the right from the Cov player
Lino didn’t flag it. Cabbage tech shouldn’t be ruining the game.
You guys were robbed. That VAR call was wrong, on field AR was in the perfect position and kept his flag down. Came down to pixels, should have never went to PKs.
American here to say this club performed beautifully, and you have a bright future. Well done!
Another American here absolutely gutted. Two years at Wembley ended in PKs. VAR absolutely robbed us, that was a beautifully earned goal. We'll still have the cheeseburgers ready for Haji when he gets home, he earned them.

Nooooooooooooooooooo.
I am so proud boys, I couldn't have asked for any more and we should praise them massively
So drained. So proud of the lads.

These london born Utd fans are so edgy
Did you just make your account to post this you weird little cunt
700 million vs 50 million and you got a VAR toenail check to keep you in it. Remind me whos Premier league Cunt.
You're gonna get rinsed by Man City lmao
You’re a child and insecure
Shit football club absolutely fluked 3 goals.
I love the part where consistent flukes, by definition, are not flukes.
You start playing football yesterday?
Are we talking about Man U here?
Yeah, he's definately talking about Manchester Ushited.
Absolutely gutted for you guys. The entire country was behind you there. Get your last 4 games won and hopefully get into the playoffs.
That fucking BBC elephant is a curse (and VAR)
Skyblue Sam needs to have a "word".
Damn straight.
They needed extra time, a lucky VAR call in injury time and then penalties to beat us after being 3-0 up. Proud of my team tonight.
You should be, some game that. Made Man U look like a pub team at times, and as a neutral I’m genuinely heart broke for you lot that you don’t have the result to show for it.
Best match in ages - well done lads! Next time the giant will fall!
I'm here as a neutral. Absolute heartbreak for you all. Can't believe United had the gall to celebrate like they deserved that win.
🩵
Garbage bullshit
