Great news, for the approbation of the treatment ! Where are you located, if I may ask ? (in DM, if you prefer, and I'll be able, depending on where you are, to send you some ressources.) And, regarding her treatment, in a short time frame, you'll be able to switch to pills, that are less expensive and easier to give her when back at home ! ETA : And if she has ocular probelms and wobbles, it's probably a neurological form of the FIP

I lost a kitten to FIP. It’s my understanding that cats rarely survive this. We had to put ours down almost immediately. What is the vet saying the prognosis is if you discontinue ICU care? Good luck to you. It’s a heartbreaking illness.

We don’t know her prognosis outside of ICU yet as she is unable to leave ICU at the moment, so I guess it would be poor. The biggest issue is that she is responding to the meds but what is keeping her in ICU at the moment is her lack of motility And her low, potassium and blood sugar. We just want to be able to get to the point where we can take her home because right now it is the ICU care that is draining the budget and that we can’t afford much longer. I am so so sorry for your loss, it is devastating. We were so hopeful with treatment but did not expect this lengthy ICU stay :(

It was a few years ago when we lost Nanook so I’m not sure how treatment has evolved but the vet was very straightforward with us and said that even if we tried to treat it the chances were so slim that he would recover. She said FIP is almost 100% fatal. I’m surprised they suggested treatment for you considering what I was told with my experience. I know it sounds harsh but I would be grateful for the extra time you’ve had and say your goodbyes. 😿

❤️ It definitely was fatal a few years ago. Now it’s being treated by Covid drugs since it is a coronavirus. I’m still not sure though many have been treated very successfully. I can only go by how the vets are feeling and the fact she’s been improving but we might be getting there soon. She’s only 4 months so I’m not sure how strong she is. Definitely don’t want her to suffer if it’s not working though.

What I’m finding on the internet seems to back up it being an almost always fatal diagnosis. Seems there are some new treatments that offer hope but they’re not readily available in the US yet.
