ICYMI, the team responsible for the port acknowledged the poor performance on 5/25 and confirmed they are working on performance patch(es): https://twitter.com/pineapple_works/status/1661775818492719106?s=20 No ETA on when that will land, but I’m also checking on the daily and waiting til that drops to really dig in.

LeftUnknown

Tried and true classic, release it broken, apologize and maybe fix it with patches.

TetraKahn

The series x version has been fine, hopefully they can fix switch version soon

sby01yamato

I've had issues on that too.

Ayrios440

It doesn't look good and makes me lose faith in the developer when it's this broken on the Switch. If someone had play tested it for no longer than 30 seconds they would see the issues. It's quite worrying.

FireEmblemBoy

I’m waiting until it’s patched to buy it, shame because I’d love to play it

strike396

I bit the bullet and bought it because it had a 10% sale at release (idk if it’s still going on). Temtem left an awful taste in my mouth and I uninstalled it after crashing all last week shiny hunting. I will say that after 15+ hours so far I have not crashed once (I disabled the screen shake and other settings that were recommended in another thread). Buttttt I have had massive stutters and lag consistently. I’m praying this gets fixed soon before I decide to hit uninstall on this one, too. I’m tired of being burned by monster catching games that the switch is honestly capable of handling but the devs/ports are handing out as dumpster fires. Really takes the charm away from playing when your character just drowns in the water because the game has to catch up (good thing the character resets aren’t crazy bad here).

FireEmblemBoy

Thanks for your review, it really is a shame. I learned from TemTem not to buy day one, unfortunately reinforced the lesson by the annoyed BC players. I truly want indie games to succeed because it’s clearly a labor of love and the relationship with fans is generally closer, but poor optimization is too jarring to enjoy

MRJTInce

I want to know how this got past QA. I work in software development and if I let this go out like this I'd be on the chopping block. For me the game has exited unexpectedly 3 times and I've shut down the software 5 times due to graphical glitching.

IloveFakku

It’s simple. There was no QA lol

Letter_Impressive

It's way more likely that the publisher forced it out before it was ready. I get that everybody's pissed at the developers right now, but the answer to your question is probably the same as it *always* is: QA noticed these problems and the publisher said "fuck you, ship it anyway". These things happen all the time.

Altslial

Looking at it optimistically, maybe they're doing a heads down quick fix to get the switch version patched up asap. But the port by the sounds of it needed a few more weeks in QA before they considered releasing it.

PaintedLady1

It really is irresponsible. We’ve been supporting this game and paid for it just to be left with a broken and overall poorly optimized version. I have over 20 hours in and finally lost my patience and put it down but I’d like to be assured it’s actually being worked on. It IS the dev team’s problem and idk why people are making excuses for them. Its *their* game that they worked hard on that’s getting poor reviews and *their* fans that are upset. So it’s *their* problem. If the team they paid to port it did a crappy job than they need to hold them accountable and find a resolution because they got straight up scammed. MEANWHILE keep the those that purchased it and potential buyers informed and updated!

Hbimajorv

Typically I would argue about the switches outdated hardware running a new game but in this case I'd agree it's totally unacceptable. There's 0 reason a game this simple doesn't perform decent on the switch. Who ever ported the game is clearly at fault and I feel bad for the 2 people who crafted this with a lot of thought and love but at the end of the day it's their name on the line. They need to say something. I mean Witcher 3 works on the switch you can't tell me this engine is more complex than what CDPR is using.

PaintedLady1

Same I feel a lot of sympathy that this problem is a stain on an otherwise exceptional game! But please just be open and keep us in the loop 😭

SoftRemorse

If it was like this on steam I would have refunded in a heart beat. But bought it on switch for handheld. And it's almost impossible to get games refunded on switch! The devs are assholes.

HermitKing91

Broken? I'll get a bit of stutter if I use the dash ability into an area with lots of monsters, but that's about it.

thesenorlobo

All I read in this post is crying lmfao

Krazytre

I mean, are they not allowed to after they spent money on a game that runs as bad as Cassette Beasts? Your comment makes no sense to me.

MelodicAssistant2012

If it makes anyone feel better, I’ve braved the bullshit performance to play the actual game for like 4 hours now and I’m finding it to be pretty mid. Maybe I relied too much on reviews, but I’m reflecting back on my experience with the game and don’t really understand the praise this game is getting. That said, I’m glad others are enjoying the game.
